Analysis Of The Letter From A Birmingham Jail By Mlk....
The civil rights movement was a very important part of not only the United States but also the 20th
century in general. Even today many people believe that the civil rights movement is still going on.
The bravery of men and woman during this period in the 1960s; some important figures included
Martin Luther king Jr., John Lewis, Malcolm X, Bayard Rustin and Angela Davis. The letter from
a Birmingham jail by MLK, Malcolm X s The black Revolution, and Angela Davis s I am a
Revolutionary Black Woman are very important pieces of the civil rights movement in the
united states for many reasons. The letter by MLK was created to response to criticism to the
eight clergy man. The black revolution was a speech made to persuade the audience to follow
Muslim. Angela Davis s piece also was one of controversy, not only was she black and a woman
but she was also a communist. The letter from a Birmingham jailwas an open letter used to
defend the strategy of nonviolent resistance to racism. Violent racist terror was so bad against
blacks in Birmingham in the summer of 1963 that the city was referred to as some locals as

The Psychology Of An Adolescence Essay
It is apparent that children are taking in music from numerous sources in their everyday lives. The
psychology of an adolescence gives a unique look on how certain stimuli, such as music, can affect
the way they think, and more importantly, act. The first place to look would be the brain, looking
into what makes up these processes. The teenage brainis an ever changing organ, that it constantly
molding to stimuli that affect it on a daily basis. This stimulus includes music, which has similar
effects, as would food, drugs, and sex (Kassem, 2014). In the vast majority of individuals, listening
and even participating in music can affect both behavior and emotions. Overall, there a four
sections of the brain that are affected by music, the first being the auditory cortex. This portion is
located on both sides of the brain, slightly above the ears. Its main function is to interpret the
sounds that are coming through and analyze the volume, pitch, speed, melody and rhythm (Kassem,
2014). The second portion is the Cerebrum, the largest section of the brain that is located at the top
of the head. A few regions in the cerebrum have different functions in the ability to interpret music.
The inferior frontal gyrus is responsible for remembering music lyrics and sounds through being
either heard or sung. The second region of the cerebrum is the dorsolateral frontal cortex. This
region is stimulated when hearing music or sounds, which allow it to bring up images that are

Coleridge s The Rime Of The Ancyent Marinere
In The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere by Samuel Coleridge, the Marinere attains a change of
mindset about the sea snakes he encounters on his journey. This moment is more than a shift from
the disliking to affinity of an animal; the juncture echoes a larger change within the Marinere. When
one views the incident in conjunction with the concept of seeing from Carlos Castanedas novel, A
Separate Reality, one can discover that the Marinere completes the act of seeing. This triumph
shows that sentimentality is a dominate trait in the Marinere s personality. Something one could
overlook because of his deed of shooting the Albatross. The Marinere s ability to see creates a
shift in perspective regarding the sea snakes, which reflects the larger change of the Marinere s
view, which is that all beings in the world are equal and beautiful.
The Marinere s thoughts of the sea snakes reflect how he regards his situation. The Mariner s
first view of the sea snakes is a contemptful one, which forms because of his overall despair of
being the sole survivor on the ship and the loneliness accompanying that; The Mariner relates that
he is alone and his soul is in agony (IV, 224 227). He further describes his separation from the
other beings present, observing his fellow crewmen now the dead men that lay on the deck as
beautiful (IV, 228 229). The living sea snakes as a million million slimy things, and then describes
himself as simply liv[ing] with the sea snakes without any further

Many people begin to spend money on many products to enhance themselves to feel more
beautiful. We tend to try to hide the imperfections on our body to conform to society s rules on
what makes someone more beautiful than one another. These things include covering up skin
with make up to hide the pimples and wearing clothing that cover up parts of the skin that we
may not want other people to view. Also straightening the hair and painting our nails to cover the
imperfections that society tends to puts on us. This cause us to start changing into someone to
please how the society views us as a whole. However as we continue to develop as individuals we
tend to say that beauty is only skin deep. The truth is that everyone is different or unique in their
own way and if you can overlook a person physical appearance and look deep down into
recognizing a person inner qualities you will find that beauty is more than what meets the eye.
Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder because everyone sees something beautiful in
every individual. True beauty comes from within and you should not judge a book by its cover
because that book may be the beautiful inside. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it is very

A Dead Woman s Secret
The short story, A Dead Woman s Secret, is about a mother who just passed away. Her children,
who became successful adults because of mother s love and nurture, kneeled down beside her
bed. The thought of letting her go was terrifying, so they decided to read her old letters. The first
few stocks of letters brought a lot of positive emotions and brightened up their mood. As they dug
further down through the letters, they learned the truth that absolutely destroyed the image of a
perfect mother that they had on their mind ever since the childhood. They found love letters from
a man they never heard of. Mother s secret was extremely disappointing to handle, so they left her
alone in a darkened room. The story demonstrates how people s perspective of others can change
in a single moment because of an insignificant secret that floated after drowning in tears for
decades. The opening paragraph of the story describes how peaceful the dead womanlooked in her
bed before her children could say the final goodbye to their loving mother. Her facial features
looked calm, and her long white hair was carefully arranged as though she wanted to leave this
world as beautiful and blameless as her life was. At the beginning of the story her character was
introduced as a sweet soul that lived in that body, who managed to raise two successful children
alone by arming them with a strict moral code, teaching them religion, without weakness, and duty,
without compromise.

Monsters In Anne Rice s Interview With The Vampire
Every year millions of children lose sleep over the fear of a monster laying underneath their beds.
This fear is not irrational, as monsters are dangerous and deadly. Although some would argue that
there is an attraction factor which comes from the fear of monsters, this attraction is only limited to
the modern vampire. Their unique ability to step outside the realm of society and break boundaries
which only some could imagine tearing through is exactly what makes them so intriguing to the
public. The common theme of vampires in early literature, which captured the public s attention,

An Analysis Of Lancelot s Abandonment Of The Epic
Emily Jessen 010533719

History 101
June 11 2015
Abandonment of the Epic The compilation of Chretien de Troyes Arthurian Romances effectively
portrays various themes previously unexplored in the epic genre that eventually led to the creation
of Lancelot in The Knight of the Cart and later Perceval in his unfinished work, The Story of the
Grail . Lancelot becomes the good example of romantic mythology through his internal struggles
while still remaining loyal to his liege. The early epics contain many common themes and morals
despite having been found throughout different civilizations such as the Old English Beowulf, the
Greek works of The Odyssey and The Iliad by Homer, and the ancient Mesopotamian Epic of
Gilgamesh. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lancelot has defining human characteristics that separate him from the deified accounts of epic
poem protagonists, and this shift to vulnerability created a new writing style that reflected the
times as Europe was slowly becoming less centralized. Since the innocent days of Perceval s
youth, he had wanted to become a knight after recklessly chasing after a few with a javelin, and
this tale of maturity is similar to the works of Dickens and other tales of growing up . The tragic
Greek hero or man of myth portrayed in the epic tales that became immediate folklore for nations
across the globe was no more. Every country had its great epic hero, but the rise of romantic
writings led to each country being able to rediscover itself through a different set of eyes.
Perceval and Lancelot could never have been epic heroes, and the actions of Perceval and
Lancelot could never be portrayed in an epic poem without seeming humorous. Oedipus would
never ride in the back of a pillory cart to reach his destination, and Lancelot would never find
himself in a situation where he has to kill his own father and wed his mother. It is evident that the
early romantic works take heavy influence from epic poetry as the characters may seem to be
chivalrous and intimidating at first, but unlike the protagonists of

Political Spectacle Analysis
Exercise 1: Political Spectacle Asha McWilliams In Constructing the Political Spectacle, Edelman
outlines the elements with which politicians manipulate the public to meet their goals. In his 2018
State of the Union Address, President Trump effectively uses these very elements. The following
analysis will discuss how President Trump address three elements of the political spectacle: the
construction of enemies and leaders, the use of problems and solutions, and the manipulation of the
audience s underlying ideologies. In order to fully understand the analysis to follow, a few core
concepts must first be defined. Most importantly, one must have a strong grasp on just what the

In the book Why Tesol?, it states that the major tenets of Cummins model of second language
acquisition is the framework that focuses on the distinction between social language and academic

easier because it is in the here and now . Cummins Quadrant Model consists of 4 quadrants:
Quadrant 1 Social language; Quadrant 2 Target language; Quadrant 3 Target language; Quadrant 4
Academic language. (p. 152). Although, there are many models of second language acquisition, I
felt that Cummin s model was a great representative of where Carlos second languageacquisition

Freudian Literary Analysis Of Doubt By John Patrick Shanley
Freudian(Psychoanalytical) Literary Analysis of Doubt
Doubt by John Patrick Shanley is about a nun who is entirely convinced that a priest had done
something inappropriate to one of the students and taken advantage of the fact that the student
(Donald Muller) is an African American. Sister Aloysius Beauvier, the nun, concluded that Father
Flynn, the priest, had been forcing Donald Muller to drink wine and molesting him. With the help
of a naive nun named Sister James, Sister Aloysius attempted to investigate her assumption of
Father Flynn s actions even if it meant contacting Donald s mother. Sister Aloysius is a
stereotypical splenetic Catholic School nun who believes that being an unsympathetic and
oppressive person to the students is the most effective method in order to make the students oblige
to her commands. The literary theory chosen for this literature work is the Freudian literary theory.
Freudian literary theory is based on the works of Sigmund Freud and workings of the mind and
instinct as well as sexuality. The play Doubt and Freudian literary theory can be related because
Freud s work reveals the id, ego and superego and how it affects a person. Id is a natural instinct.
Ego ensures that the impulses of the id is expressed in an acceptable behavior. Superego provides
guidelines and morals for making judgments. (Brizee) Sister Aloysius id desires to get rid of
Father Flynn immediately. Her superego is diminished since she lied to Father Flynn. Her ego is

Child Labor Is An Practical Answer For Poor Families
Cocoa is made from the cacao bean, which that only grows in tropical environments. The only
places where you can grow these beans are along the Ivory Coast (the West African countries
along the coastline) and Central America. The victims of child labor are often 12 16 years old,
but reporters have found children as young as 5 years of age at these farms. Children do not get
to see their parents and families for years, or ever. Most farmers have never eaten chocolate in their
entire lives.
Although the cocoa farm owners make tons of money, they still pay their workers under $2 a day.
This is way below the poverty line. As a result, child labor becomes the practical answer for poor
families who work at these farms. There are two main ways how parents willingly make their
children work at these farms. One is that they need more workers so they make their children
help them. Another way is that the owners of these farms tell the parents to sell their kid to
them. They say that it is easy work and they get food and an education. They then make them
work from 4 A.M. to 4 P.M. This is a 12 hour work day for children. They usually are not able to
break the poverty system because they are not educated. They sleep on wooden planks and are fed
mashed corn with bread in limited amounts.
The children s growth will halt because of lack of sleep and malnutrition. Pesticides are used on the
plants which with inhaling and touching can cause serious, sometimes permanent side

The Conspiracy of Water Fluoridation Essay examples
Few object to the therapeutic use of fluoride to stop tooth decay, but fluoridation, the addition of
fluoride to the public water supply, can spark avid controversy. Most dentists, medical groups, and
government officials argue that fluoridation is a cheap and risk free venture that doubles cavity
prevention. In contrast, a small minority of dentists and conservative political groups argue that
fluorideis a hazardous, poisonous substance that should not be consumed. Some antifluoridationists

Constitutionality was frequently mentioned during a 1954 House Congressional hearing on the
Fluoridation of Water that discussed the enactment of a national ban to protect the public health
from the dangers of fluoridation of water (U.S. Congress, 1). Opponents appealed to the First
Amendment in two contexts. First, a pamphlet clearly depicted the view that fluoridation
constitutes a socialistic form of mass medication violating our State laws and the Federal
Constitution... [and] involves an unwarranted interference with individual liberty (U.S. Congress,
323). Placing fluoride in the public water supply denied opponents the freedom of expression to not
be medicated. Christian Scientists also claimed that fluoridation violated the freedom of religion. At
the hearing, James Watt, a spokesman of Christian Science, testified that mass medication,
constituted a violation of fundamental religious rights by violating a Christian Scientist s right to
heal with just prayer (U. S. Congress, 59). Opponents argued that as long as alternatives to water
treatment existed, fluoridation was unconstitutional and Un American due to its violations of
individual rights.
The visible conflict of paradigms results from the opposition s conscious identification with political
ideologies, whereas the fundamental cause of fluoridation opposition emerges from the individual s
subconscious craving for natural purity. According to Morris

The War With The Persian

However, Tissaphernes broke this agreement, and soon as he could gathered an army to fight .
Upon Agesilaus hearing this he continued to remain peacefully to show the people what
Tissaphernes was not a man of his word and that Agesilaus was more honourable.
Tissaphernes told Agesilaus to leave Asia or else there would be a war. With that Agesilaus

their arrival . Agesilaus also sent word to the Greeks of Ionia, the Aeolid and the Hellespont, to

that he was well prepared for battle .
When Tissaphernes, heard of Agesilaus plans to attach Caria, they went to Caria to prepare for
battle. However, when he got there, there was no Greek army waiting. Agesilaus had decided to go

Once Agesilaus had captured Phrygia and taken large amount of booty. Instead of killing the
prisoners, he decided that it would be better to win them over with kindness. He ordered his men
not to punish their prisoners as criminals, but to guard them as human beings by doing this, he
ensured the prisoner s loyalty to Agesilaus .

Collusion In Baseball
What is it
Collusion is a business term that means owners of different companies working together and taking
certain steps to keep the salaries of workers low to make sure they (the owners) make more money.
In baseball, collusion includes owners working with each other to make sure that competitive
bidding or players jointly negotiating with the owners does not happen. There have been at least
eight different allegations of collusion being put together.
How it started
Collusion in baseball has been referred in the past as a gentleman s agreement . At the end of the

After the first rulings in the first two collusion cases, the owners decided it was time to change the
way they went about conspiring with one another. It was then that they put together what they
called an information bank to pass information back and forth to one another about the offers that
were being made to certain players. The MLBPA filed yet another grievance in early 1988.
Collusion Allegation 3 Outcome
Collusion 3 damages were well over sixty million dollars. Owners would also have to make good
on losses on multi year contracts and any bonuses that players lost out on.

Tay Soon, By Catherine Lim Summary
Passion is defined in the Canadian Oxford High School Dictionary as a strong and barely
controllable emotion. The author, Catherine Lim, develops ideas and concepts about the immense
influence of a ruling passion on an individual s life, within the story she wrote, titled, Paper . The
individual s life in which gets effected by a ruling passion is Tay Soon, who has a dream of
building a home of perfection, shaped and decorated consummately with utter flawlessness and
superiority. Fundamental ideas of vast influence that Catherine developed among this topic were
evoking change, inspiration, and clout it has in outcome, through the whole of another s life.
Change is a concept of starting at one point, and ending up somewhere else, which... Show more

A ruling passion can inspire someone to put their thoughts and/or words into action. Quoted on
page 76, Tay Soon secured a loan from his bank and put twenty thousand in OHT. This situation
represented putting thoughts into actions to put effort towards achieving one s dream because
Tay wanted to do it for quite some time, and then finally came about doing it. Secondly, a
different repercussion of inspiration would be for one to continue on dreaming even when
things get rough. This was shown when Tay was upset due to failing to buy a share at nine
dollars which a few days later had hit seventeen dollars (located on page 77), but he continued on
trying to achieve his dream, and didn t let that one stock discourage him. Besides this, a ruling
passion can influence an individual s life through inspiring other s to become passionate or take
action as well. Delineated after Dr. Soo bought the Russian Banking shares for four dollars, and
turned out to be worth seven the next day, in which the time came when Tay and Yee became even
more passionate towards this and their dream than they were before. Being a powerful piece
reacting from a ruling passion, inspiration can influence an individual`s life in a considerable

Invasion Of Privacy
Say Cheese Surveillance cameras are found in places all around the globe. As these cameras
become more popular, people have become concerned with their own privacy. Some common
locations of these cameras are in stores, restaurants, on streets, and in home security systems. When
a crime is committed, there can be verbal evidence provided by bystanders, but there is not more
absolute proof than the proof that is provided by these cameras. Even though some people argue
that surveillancecameras are an invasion of privacy, they definitely do more help than harm.
In 1986, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act was passed. This gave law enforcement
the power to use video surveillance technology. Ever since this was passed, surveillance cameras
have saved many lives and helped solve many crimes. One example of this is the bombing of the
world trade center. After the event, the FBI was able to use video surveillance to collect the
evidence that was needed to convict someone who was involved in the heinous crime. It is possible
that if not for the use of these cameras, this conviction may have never happened. This is just one
of the many instances where surveillance cameras have been extremely useful in providing proof ...

VPN
Introduction:
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. VPN is a data network connection that makes use of the
public telecommunication infrastructure but maintains privacy through the use of a tunneling
protocol and security procedures. It operates much like a Wide Area Network (WAN). Most
companies actually leased lines, but in either case both solutions are very expensive. As the
Internet became more widely available people started creating VPN solutions that took advantage
of the cheap network access. The idea was to use the Internet s existing links to create a virtual
circuit.
Advantages and Disadvantages of VPN:
Virtual Private Network presents some advantages over the traditional network technologies. VPN

Extranet: Extranet VPNs between a company and its strategic partners, customers and suppliers
require an open, standards based solution to ensure interoperability with the various solutions that
the business partners might implement. The accepted standard for Internet based VPN is the
Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) standard. Equally important is traffic control to eliminate
bottlenecks at network access points and guarantee swift delivery of and rapid response times for
critical data. (A)
VPN Protocols: One of the most popular protocols for VPN is PPTP, which stands for Point to
Point Tunneling Protocol. PPTP is actually an extension to PPP (Point to Point Protocol) which is a
standard for a traditional dial up networking. What PPTP does is packaging data within PPP
packets, and then encapsulates PPP packets within IP packets, that is called datagrams, so they can
be ready for transmission through an Internet based VPN tunnel. PPTP supports authentication,
encryption and packet filtering. The second popular protocol for VPN is IPSec, which stands for
Internet Protocol Security. One of IPSec features is that it includes an integrity check that ensures
that no packets are deleted, added or tampered with during transmission. The other feature is that
IPSec uses machine level certificates which authenticate

Significance Of Apollo In Ancient Greek Gods
Greek mythology includes a collection of myths and stories that tell the great tales of the Greek
gods and goddesses. The ancient Greeks worshiped many of these gods and goddesses as part of
their religion. These interesting stories have been studied and shared for hundreds of years and
are still very popular today. One of these Greek gods is Apollo, the god of the sun and light. He is
also the patron of prophecy, inspiration, music, poetry, literature, archery, hunters, healing and
medicine. As one of the twelve Olympians, Apollo is known as a great god that many worshiped

Apollo was the most characteristically Greek of all the Olympian gods; the perfect example of
male Greek beauty (Kokkinou 45). He had many loves, but most of his relationships did not end
well. Daphne was one of the many that he adored. Daphne tried to escape Apollo because she
didn t want to be with him and she was saved and turned into a laurel tree by Gaia. Apollo made
the laurel tree his sacred plant because he was still in love with Daphne. Another great love of
Apollo s was Coronis. She gave birth to their son, Asklepios. A crow came to him and told him
that Coronis was not faithful to him. Apollo cursed it, turning it black when it had previously
been white since when all crows have been black (March 59). After Apollo found out that she
was unfaithful to him, he sent his sister, Artemis, to kill her with a bow and arrow. A third
example of Apollo s bad luck with love was his relationship with Cassandra, a beautiful mortal
woman. Cassandra agreed to marry Apollo and he gave her the gift of prophecy. Later, Cassandra
changed her mind and Apollo got mad and he decided to turn the gift into a curse. Although
Cassandra would still be able to predict the future, no one would believe what she said (Kuhtz,
Martell 10). Daphne, Coronis, and Cassandra were his three most famous love stories, but there

Cultural Differences Between Food And Food
In today s society of the United States, eating has become a staple activity among family and
friends get togethers, holidays and sports activities. Food continues to prove itself to be a big
part of one s religious identity . Throughout other areas of the world, people are eating a variety of
different foods as a way of survival. In America, we would never think of eating these various types
of foods as a means of survival. Foodhas become a key to survival as people rely financially on the
resale of foods, as well as nutritionally to fuel one s body, and socially to entertain themselves,
families and friends. Food proves itself to be a social distinction between the rich and the poor
and their families around the world as they share a common similarity for their love of food. The
various pictures in this assignment depict many cultural differences as well as diversities related to
their food choices. The contrasts between the diets and cost of food for The Aboubaker, Ahmed,
and Revis families are quite striking when one spends the time to analyze the photos.
The first family in the assignment is the Aboubaker family. The picture shows the family is living
in the Darfur province, of Sudan. The Aboubaker family is seen living in a refugee camp located
in the desert sands. The climate in the region varies with extreme hot and dry spouts, while rainfall
only comes during the wet season, which is only a short period of time. In the picture we can see

Kangaroo Care Essay
In this article, the authors emphasize the effectiveness of Kangaroo Care on neonatal infants. The
author is fond of Kangaroo Care because of its least invasive, cost effective, and natural treatment
that can help with infant s temperature. The purpose for this article is to answer the questions
about Kangaroo Care and note the variety of benefits that it can do for infants. In addition, this
article recognizes the benefit Kangaroo Care has on third world nations and that this natural
treatment can help the infants that do not have access to the health care system. However, in
resource rich countries, the incubator is commonly used and Kangaroo care is coming rarer. The
reason Kangaroo Care is rising to the surface again is because there is a desire to humanize the
care, promote early bonding, and establish breastfeeding.

Kidnapped Character Analysis
Kidnapped, the first book in a two part series by Robert Louis Stevenson, follows a recently
orphaned seventeen year old as he attempts both mentally and physically to survive the time after
his father s death. He first attempts to go to Ebenezer Balfour s home, and he is met by an uncle
who had a falling out with his father over his mother. His uncle gives him an old, destroyed
room to stay in with broken windows; he then tricks him to board Captain Hoseason s ship while
in town shopping so that he can sell David into slavery. Aboard the Covenant, David is treated
poorly until he becomes the new cabin boy for the ship. The ship wrecks onto the Isle of Earraid
in Scotland; he and Alan Stewart are the only survivors, but he does not realize this until happening
upon a house on an island nearby. They meet up and journey whilst encountering many problems
along the way. Eventually, David makes his way back to the town of Queensferry, his uncle s
home. Throughout Kidnapped, he is met with hostility and violent situations from place to place
along his journey whether his change in location is intentional or forced. Setting affects the
emotional and physical wellbeing of David Balfour in Kidnapped as shown through his response to
his multiple changes in environment, location, and caregivers. One way in which the settings

Female Convicts As A Subject Of Historical Discussion
There has been a lack of interest in female convicts as a subject of historical discussion. The
history of female convicts has traditionally been incorporated into the framework of male convicts
with grave reference to the male convict experience. The convict women who were transported to
Australia on ships Elizabeth 5th and Henry Wellesley in 1836 faced extreme difficulty in
achieving freedom and reputability. It is the view of many historians that women were
incorporated into a pattern initially designed to accommodate men . This essay will investigate the
origins and characteristics of a sample of 10 female convicts arriving to Sydney in1836. The essay
aims to establish an alternative impression of the female convicts that were deemed damned
whores, skill less and prostitutes. In agreement with the 4 of the 5 studied historians, I hold the
view that the women were the victims of a repressive patriarchal society and the appellation of
female convicts as damned whores is totally inadequate. I believe they were not members of a
professional criminal class; they were humans with basic human needs, doing anything they could
to survive. The female convicts exported to Australia have been the subjects of investigation since
transportation commenced. Many historians set out to determine whether the female convicts were
vicious criminals or innocent victims . Garton s article researches the debate concerning the origins
and characteristics of the convicts being

This means that when the user is searching for a specific page through a search engine such as
Google, they will be able to find what they are looking for swiftly and will not have to search
through other pages to find what they want. This means that meta tags allow better navigation and
accessibility to information for users.
Meta tagging can be used in order to aid user access to information, as it helps people find the
website based on the topic of information. This is done effectively when all of the keywords are
included in the meta data when the website is being built. For example, when a website is being
designed to promote itself such as a cricket club, words in relation to the club would be used
such as cricket, batsman, sponsor, club name etc. these words would all be included within the
meta rage because these words are related to the topic of the page and would therefore allow
people to find the website and its information a lot more quicker and easily.
Meta tagging is necessary for aiding users to find a website and being able to access the
information that it contains. Meta tagging makes finding websites a lot easier because you do not
need to know the specific URL of the web page that you are trying to search for. This is due to the
fact that the user can use the information that is already provided to them in order to find a link to
that webpage that they are searching for. This will make navigating on the internet a easier

Soy Candles: Eco Friendly and Better for Your Health
If you love candles the way that I do, then you probably have plenty of them around at all times. I
generally have at least one scented candle burning in my home (as long as I m home, that is!).
Unscented candles are also a welcome accessory in my living environment. They can immediately

moment. In fact, I usually burn unscented candles when I have guests with allergies or with

Consumption Overpopulation and Its Effects on the Environment
Consumption Overpopulation
Think about a sign that says EARTH Max Capacity 10 billion. Based on what they have the
human population plans out parties. They have a lack of space and resources. Anyone who
would plan these parties would have to take in account for the amount of people that would have
to scrunch in with each other, and how many people would not have enough food to last the party.
Which basically makes it so the guests are down to a certain number. Our planet is a close
similarity to the already mentioned party. Just like how a large room can only offer a certain
amount of resources. Despite this idea, the concepts of overpopulation, and resource degradation
still are at large and are a risk.

Ultimately the behaviorisms of the commons amount to overusing the resources and misdistribution
of all the resources in the environment (Burke 2001). The very same Burke argues that the lack of
awareness about the topic of resource degradation and over consumption proves that Hardin s
theory is drastically flawed. The very first idea is the fatalistic belief program that block the actual
risk perception. Humans can not harm the Resource Base (p.449). The second premise is that the
complicity of the concerns regarding the environment blocks the individual awareness of risk. He
Concludes that a call for education and consensus building (P.472) in raising the environmental risk

Financial Implications Of Gate Keeping
Financial implications of gate keeping
Gatekeeping is about the decisions made by journalists or media companies through policy;
therefore, we must look at what influences those decisions. Gatekeeping as an idea has a number
of factors that influence what information is presented and why (Soroka, 2012). Since finances is
a key part of any business and there are still those who attempt to limit the audience s access to
information online, and they do so for financial reasons (Taneja, 2013). The editors of small
community media are more concerned about revenue than those at larger publications (Donhue,
Olien, Tichenor). There is an argument that can be made that gate keeping decisions have
traditionally been based on financial considerations (Tichenor, Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980;
Soroka, 2012). Research has shown, at least some community media outlets, that editors make
decisions about what to publish based upon some influence from the expectations their advertisers
and fear of alienating the community and therefore the publication s subscribers (Tichenor,
Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980). This is because community media cannot exist without advertisers
(Kennedy, 1974); therefore, it would be counterintuitive to anger and alienate users. This leads to a
situation where it can easily be conceived that the same economic factors would impact gatekeeping
decisions on the web.
The importance of community
The term community is elastic and can mean many things ranging from

The White Lady Cries Wolf in Rosewood
Rosewood is a ghost town located in Levy County, Florida. In the early 1920s Rosewood was a
developing town with churches, schools, mills and a growing population. The town was a
majority black town, but that was not much of a problem until a white lady cried wolf . Fannie
Taylor, wife of James Taylor who worked at a mill nearby, would have an affair with a white
man. Fannie and her white lover got into a physical altercation that left Fannie with obvious
bruises. To prevent from having to tell James about the affair she told her neighbors that a black
man came and attacked her. As word spread throughout the town some people added to her story
that Fannie was also raped by the black man. The thought of miscegenation is what angered the
men and led to the Rosewood Massacre. During the first week of January, 1923 in Rosewood the
angry white men formed a search group for the black man who raped Fannie. The search group
murdered nearly every black man they saw and burned down a portion of Rosewood. In 1997,
John Singleton directed the movie Rosewood , which told the story of the Rosewood Massacre.
Overall the movie was great and included talented actors like: Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Elise
Neal, and Esther Rolle. I personally was engaged with the film when it first started off, with the
intimate sex scene with Jewel and Mr. Wright. Sex is intriguing for almost anyone, so to start the
movie off with sex was a clever way to grab the audience attention.

that have proven their effectiveness in other states. Additionally, the issue of understaffing can be
looked at from a fresh perspective in order to understand what the Oklahoma education system can
do to bring in new teachers and keep these teachers. Finally, in joining with national level
movements and interest groups such as the National Education Association which can help with
budgetary issues and Teach for America which can help to bring in new, trained and enthusiastic
teachers into areas of Oklahoma that have seen poor performance from students in the past.
Funding for Oklahoma schools has fallen dramatically in recent years, with Oklahoma spending
$706 less per student in inflation adjusted dollars that it did in 2008, and Oklahomans are worried
about it, and rightly so (Gene, 1). In looking toward a quick fix, many have argued that Oklahoma
need only reduce its administrative costs, thus

Halos Research Paper
Scientists using NASA s Hubble Space Telescope have discovered that the i halo of gas
enveloping the Andromeda galaxy, our nearest massive neighbor, is about six times larger and
1,000 times more massive than previously measured. The dark, nearly invisible halo stretches about
a million light years from its host galaxy, halfway to our own Milky Waygalaxy. One of the most
common types of galaxies in the universe.
Halos are the gaseous atmospheres of galaxies. The properties of these gaseous halos control the
rate at which stars form in galaxies according to models of galaxy formation, explained the lead
Nicolas Lehner. The gargantuan halo is estimated to contain half the mass of the stars in the
Andromeda galaxy itself, in the form of a hot, diffuse gas. If it could be viewed with the naked
eye, the halo would be 100 times the diameter of the full Moon in the sky. This is equivalent to the
patch of sky covered by two basketballs held at arm s length. ... Show more content on

It is considered a near twin to the Milky Way galaxy.Since the gas in Andromeda s halo is dark,
the team looked at bright background objects through the gas and observed how the light
changed. This is a bit like looking at a glowing light at the bottom of a pool at night. The ideal
background lights for such a study are quasars, which are very distant bright cores of active
galaxies powered by black holes. The team used 18 quasars residing far behind Andromeda to
probe how material is distributed well beyond the visible disk of the galaxy. Their findings were
published in the May 10,

Modern Art Research Paper
Painting today is pure intuition and luck and taking advantage of what happens when you splash
the stuff down. Francis Bacon. However when I learnt more about history of art and the way each
movement and happenings in the world inspired artist to make new works, I was able to see much
more than just a canvas with random paints and sketches. The interesting part about this concept is
that each piece of art could be interpreted in many different ways. In contemporary artthere isn t
right and wrong, each of us view and find different meanings and connections with artworks. The
beginning of 20th century was a time of drastic change. New developments were made in the
arenas of the classical sciences, social science, psychology and philosophy each challenging
traditional thought. Industrialization and the introduction of many new, challenging concepts in
the fields of politics as well as the development of new technologies gave artist more freedom to
innovate and break the rules of traditional art. By using new materials, techniques and the new
approach artists were pushing boundaries of what has previously been accepted art practice in order
to invent radically new styles. Modernism was a broad period surrounding many movements. It
covered from 1860 to 1970. This movement challenged the traditional thinking with the aim to
change the way artists represented the world. Modernism refers to this

Compare And Contrast Wonder And The Other Side By...
It may seem like Wonder and The Other Side by jacqueline woodson are very different stories
ones about a boy with a messed up face and the other is about a girl on a fence. But the truth is
that these stories are actually very alike in many ways. For example both stories have the same
theme, just because that person is different doesn t mean you can t be friends with that person In
the story wonder it shows that you can be friends with someone who s different, because auggie
has a messed up face and Jack Will still decides to be auggie s friend which also means that
jackwill is being a friend to someone that is different and he also enjoys being auggie s friend.

View Of Death In Religion
Many religions have strong opinions about death since most religions believe in reincarnation,
heaven or hell or an afterlife. Because of this, it is interesting to focus on different religions and
their view of death. Therefore, four religions (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) were
chosen for the focus of my 2 arguments.
Recall from the reading, Socrates stated death is the separation of the body and soul. Therefore, is
death viewed as the separation of soul and body among different religions? According to
Christianity, death is viewed as departure of home (body) and being in the presence of the Lord
(soul), as well as in the presence of other believing loved ones. When looking at the Islamic
viewpoint of death, death is merely a movement from one world to another, such as a journey
through a different dimension of existence. This is similar to the description of forms and how
the soul leaves one world and travels to this world. Individuals that practice Hinduism describe
death as a process in the existence of soul as a separate entity. Today s Buddhists look at death as
taking a break from this world and an awakening the soul. All four of these religions described
death in many ways, however they all believe death is the result of the body and soul separating.
Another interesting topic from this reading was that statement that death should not be feared
because there is an afterlife. Because death is the separation of soul and body, what happens to
our soul when we die? Is there an afterlife or does our soul disappear ... Show more content on

History And Purpose Of The Olympic Games
Diana Rubio Running and running with sweat dripping down your forehead; your focus is on
winning this game. You hear next to you, your opponents are right next to you trying to get past
you on the final lap. It all comes down to this, less than half a second until it s all over. You finish
and win the game. How is the setting different from the first Olympics to the Olympics today? This
speech will explore the history and purpose of the Olympic Games, and how this has changed
overtime. The Olympics were founded to bring together different cultures and to promote peace.
However, this isn t what happened at all; the games abused human rights and gave control to
government that used it to advantage. Some people say the games aren t political but actually
they are. Over the past 75 years politics has let itself into the games and using it for their own
advantages. Earlier I said that the one the purposes for the games were to connect with other
cultures but instead abused human rights. This is true; one big example of this is when the
games were held in China and the ruler of China was violent (Hoberman).Another purpose of the
games today is to make money. Who makes the money? Not us, not the players, but for the big
corporations like Coca Cola and McDonald s. In every game these types of corporations have
around 4 billion viewers and consumers. The first games were just for the athletes to compete but

Correlation Between Earnings And Share Prices Essay
Question 1
The diagram illustrates the studies by Beaver, Clarke and Wright (1979) and Foster, Olsen and
Shevlin (1984). The studies are based on the Ball Brown study regarding the relationship between
earnings and share prices. This diagram shows that the size and sign of unexpected Earnings per
Share (EPS) is related to the sign and size of cumulative Abnormal Return (AR).
The graph represents the portfolio in ranking order based on the forecast error and EPS. There are
10 portfolios in which the first portfolio has the most negative forecast error and EPS while the
tenth portfolio has the most positive forecast error and EPS. This means that Portfolio 1 is the
worst performing firm in regarding the earnings (most negative share price reaction) while
Portfolio 10 is the best performing firm (most positive share price reaction). Based on the fourth
and fifth portfolio, the share reaction is very small. The negative abnormal return in portfolio 4
is pretty much negligible and the same can be said in portfolio 5 where there is only a slight
positive share price reaction. This is due to the fact that the information is not too much of a
surprise for the shareholders to react hugely. Therefore, it can be said that from portfolio 1 to 4,
they are the bad news firms while portfolio 5 to 10 are the good news firms.
In conclusion, the hypothesis made by the studies is proven to be correct. The firm with the most
negative forecast error and EPS has the most negative AR and

The heart of these reptiles has changed very little, if not at all. Their hearts have three chambers,
unlike mammals who have four chambered hearts (Dowling). With it, reptiles have advantages
and disadvantages. In the winter a lizard will restrict blood flow through their lungs in order to
save energy as they hibernate (Dowling). Having only a three chambered heart puts a large
restraint on the amount of heat that is produced inside the body. Similar to those of the past
reptiles, lizards will tend to colonize in open areas where there is a large amount of direct sunlight.
Direct sunlight will greatly warm a reptile s body so that they can perform their basic metabolic
functions with more ease. The blood pressure of a lizard is also very low due to their hearts; as a
result, lizards have grown to not need a continuous food supply but still eat in bulk like their
predecessor(Dowling). In many cases, lizards that have a diet of an herbivore located in dessert
biomes have been found to eat cactus fruit and low growing flowers. With the integration of plants
into their diet, lizards easily control small plant populations throughout many desserts of the

This Political Study Will Define The Reemergence Of...
This political study will define the reemergence of nationalism due to the failed economic
policies of globalization in the Brexit EU Vote. The Brexit Vote defines the lack of economic
security promised by the European Union, which had dominated much of Britain s global
objectives in the world economy. However, the problematic banking issues of the European
Central bank (ECB) and the bankruptcy of certain nation states, such as Ireland, Greece, and
Portugal, have inspired a new nationalist movement in England to leave the EU. The Brexit Vote,
held on June 23rd, 2016, defined a powerful collective process in which 51.9% of the votes
decided to lave the EU. This decision was primarily based on reclaiming British nationalism to

These political trends reveal the underlying trend in nationalism as part of the growing problem of
economic inequality, which was devastating the British economy for the greater masses of working
people. The lack of resolution for the economic recession brought about a public reaction to policies
related to nationalistic objectives, which were dominated by populist sentiment: At a time when so
many Europeans are faced with unemployment, uncertainty and growing inequality (200). Certainly,
the vote for Brexit defines the underlying re reemergence of nationalism as a political option in the
opposition of failed EU economic policies.
The Brexit Vote also defined a complex new set of nationalist principles, which were based on the
turning back the clock of racial identity in the pre EU global order. For instance, the re emergence
of nationalism was also being defined by a the Anglo Saxon purity of cultural and racial traditions,
which undermined the tensions behind the Brexit Vote. In this manner, the perception of job losses
in England also exacerbated racial tensions in relation to the immigration crisis across Europe.
Many British citizens felt that a lack of regulatory process in EU immigration policy threatened
their job security due to the lower wages being paid for immigrant worker:
But others suggest it was really a cultural divide that was revealed, rather than an economic one.

Preventing Hispanic Teenage Mothers From Being Able For...
There are many barriers which prevent Hispanic teenage mothers from being able to graduate high
school. However, there are many ways they can overcome those obstacles, such as receiving their
education and having educational, family, health, and economical support.
School/Education
Staying in school and receiving their education is important so teenage mothers can remain resilient
and graduate high school. In a study conducted, 69.7% of adolescents in the study were either
enrolled, or graduated from high school. 78.7% of those adolescents received passing grades, and
76.7% of them saw finishing high school as essential (SIaDAPA). Most of the adolescents in this
study saw the importance of staying in school and education, and they graduated. They know that
eventually their hard work will pay off. This shows that graduating high school is related to the
students value of how important high school is (SIaDAPA). Along with their cultural and social
norms, a teen s personal values may be reflected by their educational decisions in life (School
Importance and Dropout Among Pregnant Adolescents). If they desire positive educational desires,
they ll have positive personal values such as being courageous, staying motivated, and being
committed. If teenage mothers do not have high expectations for themselves academically, we can
assume that they may not have positive personal values in order to persevere and graduate high
school. Therefore, they are less likely to graduate high

The Literary Analysis Of Cold Harbor By John Reekie
Throughout history, war has invariably been the solution to conflicts that arise between two
opposing sides of mankind. As Bertrand Russell puts it, War does not determine who is right
but who is left . The illustration, Cold Harbor by John Reekie, captures the aftermath of the
Civil War as African Americans pick up the deceased soldiers from the battlefield. Cold Harbor
is one of many pictures depicting the losses of the Civil War and, while it may evoke a part of
the disturbances caused by the Civil War, it can never help one mentally reconstruct what the
war was like. This picture aids in elucidating the fallacies of the Civil War by placing emphasis
on the massive death toll and the economic motives that resulted in the persistence of prejudiced
social constructs. The purpose of the illustration was to give an insightful eye into the aftermath
of the war including how it affected Americans. The document seems to create a memoir. Given
that things were posed in a specific way, it seems that the photo was intended to show the
original location and source of the bones. In the document, it shows a group of African
Americans picking up the remains of soldiers who died in the battle year before this. The
remains are of soldiers from a battle because of the uniforms the bodies are wearing. Through
showing the Americans the remains of the soldiers, it gives the war a sense of remorse and
meaning. By having the bodies all stacked on top of each other and the skulls of the

Essay on Thoreau s Journey to Find the Simple Life
Simple is the way of life that transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau advocated as the most
fulfilling of all. Although sometimes irrational, Thoreau wanted a life that was more closely
connected with nature in comparison with the majority of a rapidly industrializing America. He
favored a more agrarian approach rather than a mechanized form of work and production, for that
he believed was alienating man from his roots. Walden, one of Thoreau s most famous
commentaries on such a lifestyle, puts his ideology in perspective as he trod the forests of Concord,
Massachusettsnear Walden Pond. Living in and around a small cabin, Thoreau realizes that when
one is with nature and nature alone, he sees life as immeasurable and unlimited in its... Show more

He goes on to say, I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life...to drive life into a
corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean...publish its meanness to the
world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience and be able to give a true account of it in
my next excursion (74). In this rather long passage, he outlines his true sentiment about life and
living. He puts his feelings in very plain, broad terms, claiming that in order to know what life
has to offer, one must do all that they can to experience it, and then judge for themselves. One
cannot have lived if they have not confronted the true essential facts of life, whether they may be
sweet or bitter. As Thoreau s journey progresses, he comes to realize that solitude, however
lonely, is no more lonely than the first spider in a new house. Using this simile, Thoreau
compares the busy spider to himself in a place that is yet to be inhabited. The spider represents
one that is living with a purpose: whether diversion or food. Thoreau on the other hand, is just as
alone as the spider, yet also scurrying in the forest for life s essentials. Neither is discontent nor
lonely, for they are living for a purpose. Thoreau s conclusion, however convoluted, summarizes his
intentions and beliefs on life as

Her children, who became successful adults because of mother s love and nurture, kneeled down beside her bed. The thought of letting her go was terrifying, so they decided to read her old letters. The first few stocks of letters brought a lot of positive emotions and brightened up their mood. As they dug further down through the letters, they learned the truth that absolutely destroyed the image of a perfect mother that they had on their mind ever since the childhood. They found love letters from a man they never heard of. Mother s secret was extremely disappointing to handle, so they left her alone in a darkened room. The story demonstrates how people s perspective of others can change in a single moment because of an insignificant secret that floated after drowning in tears for decades. The opening paragraph of the story describes how peaceful the dead womanlooked in her bed before her children could say the final goodbye to their loving mother. Her facial features looked calm, and her long white hair was carefully arranged as though she wanted to leave this world as beautiful and blameless as her life was. An Analysis Of Lancelot s Abandonment Of The Epic Emily Jessen 010533719 Professor Watt History 101 June 11 2015 Abandonment of the Epic The compilation of Chretien de Troyes Arthurian Romances effectively portrays various themes previously unexplored in the epic genre that eventually led to the creation of Lancelot in The Knight of the Cart and later Perceval in his unfinished work, The Story of the Grail . Lancelot becomes the good example of romantic mythology through his internal struggles while still remaining loyal to his liege. The early epics contain many common themes and morals despite having been found throughout different civilizations such as the Old English Beowulf, the Greek works of The Odyssey and The Iliad by Homer, and the ancient Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh. Lancelot has defining human characteristics that separate him from the deified accounts of epic poem protagonists, and this shift to vulnerability created a new writing style that reflected the times as Europe was slowly becoming less centralized. Since the innocent days of Perceval s youth, he had wanted to become a knight after recklessly chasing after a few with a javelin, and this tale of maturity is similar to the works of Dickens and other tales of growing up . The tragic Greek hero or man of myth portrayed in the epic tales that became immediate folklore for nations across the globe was no more. Every country had its great epic hero, but the rise of romantic writings led to each country being able to rediscover itself through a different set of eyes. Perceval and Lancelot could never have been epic heroes, and the actions of Perceval and Lancelot could never be portrayed in an epic poem without seeming humorous. Oedipus would never ride in the back of a pillory cart to reach his destination, and Lancelot would never find himself in a situation where he has to kill his own father and wed his mother. • 18. Freudian Literary Analysis Of Doubt By John Patrick Shanley Freudian(Psychoanalytical) Literary Analysis of Doubt Doubt by John Patrick Shanley is about a nun who is entirely convinced that a priest had done something inappropriate to one of the students and taken advantage of the fact that the student (Donald Muller) is an African American. Sister Aloysius Beauvier, the nun, concluded that Father Flynn, the priest, had been forcing Donald Muller to drink wine and molesting him. With the help of a naive nun named Sister James, Sister Aloysius attempted to investigate her assumption of Father Flynn s actions even if it meant contacting Donald s mother. Sister Aloysius is a stereotypical splenetic Catholic School nun who believes that being an unsympathetic and oppressive person to the students is the most effective method in order to make the students oblige to her commands. The literary theory chosen for this literature work is the Freudian literary theory. Freudian literary theory is based on the works of Sigmund Freud and workings of the mind and instinct as well as sexuality. The play Doubt and Freudian literary theory can be related because Freud s work reveals the id, ego and superego and how it affects a person. Id is a natural instinct. Ego ensures that the impulses of the id is expressed in an acceptable behavior. Superego provides guidelines and morals for making judgments. The only places where you can grow these beans are along the Ivory Coast (the West African countries along the coastline) and Central America. The victims of child labor are often 12 16 years old, but reporters have found children as young as 5 years of age at these farms. Children do not get to see their parents and families for years, or ever. Most farmers have never eaten chocolate in their entire lives. Although the cocoa farm owners make tons of money, they still pay their workers under $2 a day. This is way below the poverty line. As a result, child labor becomes the practical answer for poor families who work at these farms. There are two main ways how parents willingly make their children work at these farms. One is that they need more workers so they make their children help them. Another way is that the owners of these farms tell the parents to sell their kid to them. They say that it is easy work and they get food and an education. They then make them work from 4 A.M. to 4 P.M. This is a 12 hour work day for children. They usually are not able to break the poverty system because they are not educated. They sleep on wooden planks and are fed mashed corn with bread in limited amounts. The children s growth will halt because of lack of sleep and malnutrition. Pesticides are used on the plants which with inhaling and touching can cause serious, sometimes permanent side ... • 40. Financial Implications Of Gate Keeping Financial implications of gate keeping Gatekeeping is about the decisions made by journalists or media companies through policy; therefore, we must look at what influences those decisions. Gatekeeping as an idea has a number of factors that influence what information is presented and why (Soroka, 2012). Since finances is a key part of any business and there are still those who attempt to limit the audience s access to information online, and they do so for financial reasons (Taneja, 2013). The editors of small community media are more concerned about revenue than those at larger publications (Donhue, Olien, Tichenor). There is an argument that can be made that gate keeping decisions have traditionally been based on financial considerations (Tichenor, Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980; Soroka, 2012). Research has shown, at least some community media outlets, that editors make decisions about what to publish based upon some influence from the expectations their advertisers and fear of alienating the community and therefore the publication s subscribers (Tichenor, Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980). This is because community media cannot exist without advertisers (Kennedy, 1974); therefore, it would be counterintuitive to anger and alienate users. This leads to a situation where it can easily be conceived that the same economic factors would impact gatekeeping decisions on the web. The importance of community The term community is elastic and can mean many things ranging from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The White Lady Cries Wolf in Rosewood Rosewood is a ghost town located in Levy County, Florida. In the early 1920s Rosewood was a developing town with churches, schools, mills and a growing population. The town was a majority black town, but that was not much of a problem until a white lady cried wolf . Fannie Taylor, wife of James Taylor who worked at a mill nearby, would have an affair with a white man. Fannie and her white lover got into a physical altercation that left Fannie with obvious bruises. To prevent from having to tell James about the affair she told her neighbors that a black man came and attacked her. As word spread throughout the town some people added to her story that Fannie was also raped by the black man. The thought of miscegenation is what angered the men and led to the Rosewood Massacre. During the first week of January, 1923 in Rosewood the angry white men formed a search group for the black man who raped Fannie. The search group murdered nearly every black man they saw and burned down a portion of Rosewood. In 1997, John Singleton directed the movie Rosewood , which told the story of the Rosewood Massacre. Overall the movie was great and included talented actors like: Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Elise Neal, and Esther Rolle. I personally was engaged with the film when it first started off, with the intimate sex scene with Jewel and Mr. Wright. Fixing Oklahoma s Education System Fixing Oklahoma Education In taking a brief look at the Oklahoma education system, one need not look far before issues of significant underfunding and understaffing come directly into view. Many different proposals regarding what Oklahoma needs to do to resolve this problem have been suggested in the past, but very few of these proposals outline an answer regarding how these fixes will be implemented. How Oklahoma s educational system can increase the effectiveness of its limited funding is something that can be addressed with simple cost effective steps and strategies that have proven their effectiveness in other states. Additionally, the issue of understaffing can be looked at from a fresh perspective in order to understand what the Oklahoma education system can do to bring in new teachers and keep these teachers. Finally, in joining with national level movements and interest groups such as the National Education Association which can help with budgetary issues and Teach for America which can help to bring in new, trained and enthusiastic teachers into areas of Oklahoma that have seen poor performance from students in the past. Funding for Oklahoma schools has fallen dramatically in recent years, with Oklahoma spending $706 less per student in inflation adjusted dollars that it did in 2008, and Oklahomans are worried about it, and rightly so (Gene, 1). Halos are the gaseous atmospheres of galaxies. The properties of these gaseous halos control the rate at which stars form in galaxies according to models of galaxy formation, explained the lead Nicolas Lehner. The gargantuan halo is estimated to contain half the mass of the stars in the Andromeda galaxy itself, in the form of a hot, diffuse gas. The interesting part about this concept is that each piece of art could be interpreted in many different ways. In contemporary artthere isn t right and wrong, each of us view and find different meanings and connections with artworks. The beginning of 20th century was a time of drastic change. • 48. View Of Death In Religion Many religions have strong opinions about death since most religions believe in reincarnation, heaven or hell or an afterlife. Because of this, it is interesting to focus on different religions and their view of death. Therefore, four religions (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) were chosen for the focus of my 2 arguments. Recall from the reading, Socrates stated death is the separation of the body and soul. Therefore, is death viewed as the separation of soul and body among different religions? According to Christianity, death is viewed as departure of home (body) and being in the presence of the Lord (soul), as well as in the presence of other believing loved ones. When looking at the Islamic viewpoint of death, death is merely a movement from one world to another, such as a journey through a different dimension of existence. This is similar to the description of forms and how the soul leaves one world and travels to this world. Individuals that practice Hinduism describe death as a process in the existence of soul as a separate entity. Today s Buddhists look at death as taking a break from this world and an awakening the soul. All four of these religions described death in many ways, however they all believe death is the result of the body and soul separating. Another interesting topic from this reading was that statement that death should not be feared because there is an afterlife. The studies are based on the Ball Brown study regarding the relationship between earnings and share prices. This diagram shows that the size and sign of unexpected Earnings per Share (EPS) is related to the sign and size of cumulative Abnormal Return (AR). The graph represents the portfolio in ranking order based on the forecast error and EPS. There are 10 portfolios in which the first portfolio has the most negative forecast error and EPS while the tenth portfolio has the most positive forecast error and EPS. This means that Portfolio 1 is the worst performing firm in regarding the earnings (most negative share price reaction) while Portfolio 10 is the best performing firm (most positive share price reaction). Based on the fourth and fifth portfolio, the share reaction is very small. The negative abnormal return in portfolio 4 is pretty much negligible and the same can be said in portfolio 5 where there is only a slight positive share price reaction. This is due to the fact that the information is not too much of a surprise for the shareholders to react hugely. Therefore, it can be said that from portfolio 1 to 4, they are the bad news firms while portfolio 5 to 10 are the good news firms. In conclusion, the hypothesis made by the studies is proven to be correct. The firm with the most negative forecast error and EPS has the most negative AR and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Certainly, the vote for Brexit defines the underlying re reemergence of nationalism as a political option in the opposition of failed EU economic policies. For instance, the re emergence of nationalism was also being defined by a the Anglo Saxon purity of cultural and racial traditions, which undermined the tensions behind the Brexit Vote. As Bertrand Russell puts it, War does not determine who is right but who is left . The illustration, Cold Harbor by John Reekie, captures the aftermath of the Civil War as African Americans pick up the deceased soldiers from the battlefield. Cold Harbor is one of many pictures depicting the losses of the Civil War and, while it may evoke a part of the disturbances caused by the Civil War, it can never help one mentally reconstruct what the war was like. This picture aids in elucidating the fallacies of the Civil War by placing emphasis on the massive death toll and the economic motives that resulted in the persistence of prejudiced social constructs. The purpose of the illustration was to give an insightful eye into the aftermath of the war including how it affected Americans. The document seems to create a memoir. Given that things were posed in a specific way, it seems that the photo was intended to show the original location and source of the bones. In the document, it shows a group of African Americans picking up the remains of soldiers who died in the battle year before this. Although sometimes irrational, Thoreau wanted a life that was more closely connected with nature in comparison with the majority of a rapidly industrializing America. In this rather long passage, he outlines his true sentiment about life and living. He puts his feelings in very plain, broad terms, claiming that in order to know what life has to offer, one must do all that they can to experience it, and then judge for themselves. One cannot have lived if they have not confronted the true essential facts of life, whether they may be sweet or bitter. As Thoreau s journey progresses, he comes to realize that solitude, however lonely, is no more lonely than the first spider in a new house.
