This document provides formulas for calculating the areas of basic shapes: squares, rectangles, triangles, and trapezoids. The area of a square is its side length squared. The area of a rectangle is its base multiplied by its height. The area of a triangle uses the same formula for all triangles, which is half the base times the height. The area of a trapezoid can be found by adding the two bases, multiplying by the height, and dividing by two.
