The Effect The Molarity Of Sucrose Solution Has On Osmolarity
Title: The effect the molarity of sucrose solution has on osmolarity
Introduction: Passive transport occurs when substances move from high concentration areas to
a lower concentration region. Both Diffusion and Osmosis are examples of passive transport,
however, osmosis is when water molecules move across a selectively permeable membrane. The
plasma membrane, being a thin barrier to outside environment, is a selectively permeable
membrane. Thus, it only allows certain particles to enter or exit the cell. A selectively
permeable membrane is important because it protects the cell from certain materials that can
potentially be toxic to the cell by not allowing the cell to diffuse uniformly; this means that not
all particles can equally facilitate to the cell (encyclopedia ,n.d.). The movement of substance
across a membrane is caused by two factors, their size and charge (Pearson Education, 2008). If a
substance is small and nonpolar it can easily move but if it s large and polar, it will have
difficulty traveling across the membrane. For example, the selectively permeable membrane allows
water, which is known as solvent, to move freely but prevents large molecules such as sugar
molecules from passing through; the sugar molecules are known as solute (BBC, 2014).
However, facilitated diffusion can help the molecules that cannot pass through the cell membrane by
themselves. Facilitated diffusion can help these molecules due specialize proteins such as the
channel protein and

Julio Caesar by William Shakespeare Essay
Composers build on our perspectives to instil diverse interpretation of events, situations and
personalities represented through various mediums shaped by their purpose. Thus the
representation of conflicting perspectives within their works enables responders to experience a
deeper understanding of the world. This is clearly demonstrated in Shakespeare s tragic play Julius
Caesar(1599) and Jason Reitman s satirical film Thankyou for Smoking (2005). While the
Elizabethan context informs Shakespeare s differing perspectives of Caesar s assassination in
relation to human beings complexities and the manipulation used to gain power, centuries later,
Reitman also explores the multi faceted nature of an individual and the persuasion involved... Show

The film opens with Nick appearing on Joan Launden s daytime talk show Joan, and as he is
introduced Reitman uses slow motion shots and freeze frames to capture the audience spitting,
pointing and shouting at him, signifying the hatred of his powerful and dubious position.
Reitman extends this portrayal with a mid length shot of Nick holding a lighter in front of the
American flag with a caption below indicating the number of people who die from smoking each
year. The confrontational nature of this scene conveys to the audience an immediate image of
Nick s despised persona. It is only towards the dГ©nouement of the film when Nick resigns from
his job that Reitman offers up a more compassionate perspective on him. His vulnerability
becomes obvious through cross edits to his son and the voice over of Nick stating, Some things
are more important in life than paying the mortgage . Thus both texts explore the conflicting
perspectives of Caesar and Nick s multi faceted personalities, and enrich the responder s
appreciation of human nature and the world around us. This reflects Shakespeare s values of
political stability and Reitman s judgment of the nature of political and corporate culture in a
capitalist society.
As individuals gain power, their higher authority often strives for an easily controlled and often

Myrtle Wilson And Macbeth
The paths of greed and vanity will always lead to one s downfall. The character of Myrtle Wilson
from the novel The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Lady Macbeth from the play
Macbeth by William Shakespeare both successfully demonstrate the deadly sin of greed through
their immoral actions to gain their own personal desire for wealth and power, eventually leading to
their downfall.
To begin, the character of Myrtle Wilson carries out an affair with Tom Buchanan to obtain
materialistic items motivated by her greed. In The Great Gatsby Myrtle Wilson demonstrates
greed in the presence of Tom Buchanan. In essence, Tom is a wealthy individual, and Myrtle is
able to conduct a luxurious lifestyle as long as she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparison, Lady Macbeth illustrates the deadly sin of greed through her strong desire to
become Queen of Scotland. In the play Macbeth , Lady Macbeth learns of Macbeth s prophecy
through a letter that claims he will become King. Lady Macbeth states, Lady Macbeth: Hie thee
hither, that I may pour my spirits in thine ear; and chastise with the valor of my tongue, all that
impedes thee from the golden round. (Shakespeare 1.5.28 31) Lady Macbeth is now aware of
her husband s prophecy, and immediately desires all the power and added benefits that come
with her husband being King. Likewise, Lady Macbeth is characterized as a greedy individual
by wanting Macbeth to take any action necessary to become King so she may become Queen.
She discovers that Macbeth s first two prophecies have already come true, and is quick to take
action so the third prophecy will come true. To add on, Lady Macbeth uses a metaphor to express
her desire to Macbeth pour my spirits in thine ear , she wants to inform Macbeth of her plan to
murder King Duncan so Macbeth may become King; this illustrates that Lady Macbeth is willing to
commit an immoral action to gain power. In addition, Lady Macbeth realizes that Macbeth lacks the
courage to commit murder to immediately obtain the golden round referring to the crown; therefore
she manipulates him by insulting him, motivated by her

her good hair care regime. Thus referring to the advertised product.
The bottle of hair treatment is an iconic sign also. It refers to the treatment that is available.

As seen, many print advertisements make use of iconic signes , re enforced with arbitrary signs.
The aim of advertisements is product knowledge and sales. When people are able to see the
product and identify with it, it achieves this. This is not dependant on culture or language

Dbq Stamp Act
a) The Stamp Act was issued in 1765 by Parliament, and it forced colonists to pay a tax on all
printed documents such as newspapers, pamphlets, college diplomas, land titles, and playing
cards. This tariff was created in order to cover part of the cost of stationing the British troops in
America which proved to be very costly. b) In response to this new levy, 9 colonial delegates
were sent to meet at the Stamp Act Congress of 1765 held in New York City. At this meeting,
they protested their loss of American rights and liberties caused by the issuing of the Stamp Act
as well as others like it. The Stamp Act was challenged by the ideas of the constitution and
eventually repealed in 1766. c) Another effect of the implementation of the Stamp Act was the
creation of the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty was an organization determined to fight for
the rights of the colonists and protect them against heavy taxation by the British. In reaction to the
Stamp Act, the Sons of Liberty burned a statue of Andrew Oliver, a tax collector, as well as
destroyed his newly built home. Other than working to rid of the Stamp Act, the Stamp Act

Downtown Indianapolis Research Paper
It should be said, though not positive, not many moments occur that make me proud to be a
hosier. It does not stem from a hatred of Indiana but, it is more of how we are viewed in the eye
of the public. Most people know us as the 500 state or the Corn State and recently we received
the title Home of Pence . Though these associations are not all bad, it leaves our state void of
any substance or beauty. That is why Downtown Indianapolis Makes me proud to be a Hoosier.
The fact that there is a great deal to witness; a vast amount to see and being able to experience it
all in such close proximity establishes downtown as a unique place to visit. Simply going around
the concentric circle of the monument and picking a spigot to travel down guarantees a unique
,easily navigable, experience. Venturing through downtowns gridlocked system is just as pleasing

While drawing in variations of backgrounds, it inherits the variety of cultural aspects its members

food district. While there are many cultures available to sample, deciding on a meal is impossible.
Yet, the fact that my taste buds can jump continents while only walking a short distance is a joy of
being in the city.
The people of downtown Indianapolis could be represented by the food it offers, a collaboration
of different flavors. Being a minority from the South Side of Indianapolis, sometimes i forget that
there are other people similar to me in identity but, in times of loneliness downtown serves as a
reminder that the term Hoosier refers to a plethora of people. Diversity, being a trademark of
progressivity, takes refuge in downtown Indiana. So when walking downtown, it is nice to take in

Paradise Lost Essay
Paradise Lost
The poem is divided up into 12 books. The verse is English heroic without rhyme, as that of
Homer in Greek, and of Virgil in Latin. (Knopf, 1996) This neglect then of rhyme so little is to be
taken for a defect, though it may seem so perhaps to vulgar readers, that it rather is to be esteemed
an example set, the first in English, of ancient liberty recovered to heroic poem from the
troublesome and modern bondage of writing. (Knopf, 1996)
Book One proposes the whole subject of the poem of mans disobedience and the loss of the
Paradise where God had placed him. The serpent or Satan is talked about whom is the prime cause
of mans fall. Satan who was once at Gods side had revolted and was driven out of ... Show more

He needs to pass through the gates of hell. They are guarded and shut. He states the purpose of
his journey to explore, and after some difficulty he is allowed to pass through with the help of
Chaos who is the power of that place. He is then on his way to the new world that he is seeking.
Book Three is then a prediction of the fall of man. God is sitting on his throne with His Son at
His side; they see Satan on his way to the newly created world. God foretells His Son of how
Satan is able to trick man, as man is free to make his own choices. Because of the choices that
man makes, he must die unless someone can be found who will answer to the sins of man, and
will then take on the punishment for these sins. The Son of God then freely offers Himself as the
ransom for mankind, and the Father accepts. There is then much celebration in heaven as they
now have a plan to save mankind. Satan arrives: thence comes to the gate of heaven, described
ascending by stairs, and the water above the firmament that flow about it; his passage thence to the
orb of the sun: he finds there Uriel, the regent of that orb, but first changes himself into the shape
of a meaner angel, and pretending a zealous desire to behold the new creation, and man whom God
had placed here, inquires him the place of his habitation, and is directed: alights first on Mount
Niphates. (Simmons, 1996)

Hybrid Vs. Electric Cars
Hybrid vs. Electric
When hearing the words gas, hybrid and electric, people automatically think of automobiles.. [this
is a very clunky opening rewrite it I think people do know those are the three main types of cars...]
People buy hybrid or electric cars because they either want to save money on gas or they want to
be able to help the environment with their vehicles. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in
the United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great
mileage and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically
powered car has recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology
powered cars, such as the Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered
vehicles, such as Tesla s Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers
the vehicle.
The gas powered vehicle has been a problem for the environment since the day it was created.
These vehicles emit greenhouse gasses that are detrimental towards the environment. Nearly one
fifth of the United States total fuel emissions come from gas powered cars. In 2012 transportation
contributed with 28% of total greenhouse emissions in the United States. One of the greenhouse
gasses that cars emit is Carbon Dioxide. What greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide do is
trap heat in the Earth s atmosphere leading to the atmospheric temperature rising. Global warming

Welfare Is Not Solving Poverty
Ronald Reagan said, Welfare s purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its
own existence. Welfare is not solving Poverty in America. Before I start this argument I need to
assert that I do not think that welfare is a matter of solving poverty anymore. I agree with Ban Ki
Moon when he says, True security is based on people s welfare. Welfare has become a way of
keeping the impoverished people from becoming desperate enough to commit crimes, but within
this system, that was originally meant to improve the povertysituation, there is evidence that it is
causing more people to fall below the poverty line and become dependent on it. I think the US
government should consider a welfare reform while thinking about what they really need
welfare to accomplish. I think that a welfare program is necessary and I think that a program to
help people who are in poverty is needed, but right now I do not think these two programs
coincide as they are supposed to. Thus, welfare is hindering impoverished people from ever
getting above the poverty line, and the government needs to reform the program. Over the past
several years, Welfare reform has been a hot topic in politics in the United States. A lot of
research has been done on the effectiveness of welfare and most research states that welfare is
hindering rather than helping people get out of poverty. When talking about the role played by anti
poverty programs in America, David T. Ellwood and Lawrence H.

Benefits And Applications Of The Software Defined Networking
2.) Abstract:
The project focuses on the cost effective enhancement of enterprise network security via OpenFlow
controlled switches and specialized SDN applications running on a controller. The project will
investigate on securing the network from various attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack,
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), DHCP attack. Different security measures will be discussed
through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be
implemented over SDN.
3.) Objectives:
The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day
technologies.
1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service
attacks.
2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will
enable more options to enhance the security.
The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking
(SDN) technology. By implementing Security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that
will be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of
Service, Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention
is that if an administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he
would have to configure all the networking equipment separately with the

Planarian Limbs Experiment
Many organisms easily lose limbs and can grow them back again. Scientists have studied various
organisms that are able to repair damaged body parts, such as lizards, spiders, sponges, and sharks.
These are a few organisms that undergo regeneration with different body parts such as tails, legs,
body divisions, and teeth. The process of regenerationdescribes the replacement, renewal, and
restoration of lost body parts.
Dugesia tigrina are flatworms of the Turbellaria class that can live in saltwater or freshwater
environments (Reddien and Alvarado 2004). These flatworms are also known as planaria and are
notorious for their great ability of regeneration. The purpose of this experiment was to test if the

The Strengths Of District Assessment
Dr. Myers gave me the state aid formula as the total district assessment times 0.025 times 98%
plus miscellaneous funds divided by ADM (Average Daily Membership). The district obtains its
money through federal, local, and state funds. However, he did not share these amounts with me.
Through looking at reports on our schools website, I determined that our local revenue was
$1,875,000, state revenue was $1,395,105, and federal revenue was only $365,783. The general
strengths of the district funding is through local revenue collection. Our local collection is very
high. Our district receives roughly 55% of its funding from local taxes, which is higher than the
state average of 35%. We do not have a ton of businesses, however our property... Show more

He handles every requisition to ensure that our districts money is being spent purposefully.
Also, he added, that he accepts responsibility for any misuse of funds. The principals in our
district do not have guidelines for budgeting, because they do not have a budget. If a principal
has a need, first they have to justify why and then Dr. Myers will assess if the district has the
money. However, the principals are required by the state to attend tier 1 APSCN (Arkansas
Public School Computer Network) training yearly. The only other need of the principal,
according to our superintendent, is the ability to say no when it comes to spending money.
However, he also expects the principals to find other options if the district cannot afford to make
the purchase that is needed. The state requires APSCN as the accounting system required in our
school. He included that we use eSchool and eFinance software under that program also. Dr.
Myers strongly believes that computers have a positive effect on the districts accounting and
budgeting. He stated that computers make it easy to keep and share documents. He also regularly
uses formulas to help figure the budget, which he says saves him a lot of time. The overall process
of estimating revenues and expenditures comes relatively easy for Dr. Myers, he says due to the

I nodded and cleared my throat before speaking. I m Leo Valdez. I m staying here, I think.
The lady nodded and typed some things into a computer before giving me a key and a map. You

I nodded and collected my bags before heading to the direction I hoped my dorm was. It was
about ten minutes later when I realized I was lost. Great. My arms were tired, I was hungry, and I

Social Class Differences
In Following Their Every Move: An Investigation of Social Class Differences In College Pathways
the author Sara Goldrick Rab (2014) explores the growth not only in the number of higher
educational institutions but in diverse student populations. This growth has changed the ways
students attend or transition into the collegeexperience. Goldrick Rab (2014) cites a statistic from
MCCromick (2003) that really surprised me that states today, 47 percent to 50 percent of
undergraduates who begin at a four year college attend more then one institution within six years,
and 15 percent to 19 percent attend more then two (Goldrick Rab,2014, p. 392). Students mobility

why the students in the samples didn t receive accommodations. One reason in the postsecondary
context they provided was how at many institutions it s the students responsibility to request the
services and provide documentation. This is something that my younger sister, Gracie, is currently
struggling with at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) as a freshman. She had an IEP in high

How cool! Co founder and original lead singer of Yes, Jon Anderson, has joined forces with prog

While the music plays, I start researching. I come across a couple quotes from Jon Anderson, and
Roine Slolt included in a press release about the project:
Jon: .....Music is always the driving force in my life...working with such a wonderful musician as
Roine Stolt made the creation of this album very unique. We are very excited with the release of
Invention of Knowledge .
Roine Stolt adds: It is not aiming at being new Yes music; just new music, modern and classical,
rock and ethno, tribal and orchestrated, grooving and floating. Hopefully in the true spirit of
progressive leaning forward, surprising and also comforting with familiar run arounds. We ve
been inventing as we go along Jon is an endless source of new ideas. We ve been bouncing ideas
back and forth for months and as a result there are probably dozens of versions of these songs. It s
been a very interesting and rewarding time and the result is just insanely detailed.
I worked with The Flowers Kings duo of Jonas Reingold on bass and Felix Lehrmann on drums,
with Tom Brislin on keyboards. Tom had done the Yes Symphonic Tour, and I knew him well. It
was important for me to be comfortable with the musicians at this stage, because that way I was
more relaxed about telling them how we wanted it all to sound. If I had been in the studio with
people who were strangers, then I might have felt more

The On Neural Tube Deficiency
Neural tube deficiency happens in about 80,000 and 100,000 pregnancies in China. It causes the
offspring to be born with defects of the brain, spine, or spinal cord. They happen in the first month
of pregnancy and both genetic and environments contribute to the cause. Numerous prospective,
retrospective and controlled trial studies have suggested proper folic acidsupplementation for
pregnant women can reduce the incidence of NTDs in their offspring. Association between folic
acid supplementation or dietary folate intake and NTDs risk may be affected by maternal body
mass index. Studies have suggested the risk of NTDs in offspring among obese mothers have
not decreased. Body mass index greater than 31kg is at risk of delivering an offspring with
NTDs. Other studies find more than 400mg of folate intake from diet per day is only protective
against NTDs in women who weigh less than 154.3Ibs. A total of 459 pairs of participants took
part in the study: 259 pairs were from Shandong Province and 200 pairs were from Shanxi
Province. Mothers who gave birth to healthy infants in the same area, same hospital and within the
same time as the another group was the controlled groups. The mothers were separated by
Underweight/normal weight BMI less than 24.0 and overweight/obese mothers BMI greater than
24.0. Given folic acid was defined as taking 0.4mg of a folic acid tablet and categorized folic acid

The Search for Truth in Anton Chekhov s The Cherry...
The scholar is engaged in the interminable quest for truth. The knowledge that one can never
understand everything makes a person wise. Ignorance is the assumption that one can understand
all about the world around them. An ignorant person is so confident they comprehend the truth, that
they are blind to the greater truth. Anton Chekhov and Sophoclesdeal with the idea of this sinful
pride that leads to ignorance in their respective works, The Cherry Orchard and Oedipus Rex. In
each drama, certain characters are slapped in the face with the truth; the light is revealed. However,
these characters make the connection when it is too late. Their destruction is already destined to
become a reality, a horrid fate that could have been prevented.... Show more content on

The timing of the chorus plea as Oedipus enters the stage clearly demonstrates that Oedipus is the
man whom he seeks, the murderer of the king. The truth of the play is revealed, yet Oedipus
remains ignorant.
Chekhov also makes use of a symbol to represent truth in his play. In The Cherry Orchard, the
Ranevskayas are an aristocratic family that squander away their final days at their beloved cherry
orchard. It shall soon be auctioned off, yet the family merely sits about and engages in
meaningless chatter. They assume that everything shall be taken care of, the way it always has
been in their lives. However, there is one man who seems to be above the careless atmosphere that
surrounds him Lopakhin, the hard working son of generations of peasants. This man of great
ambition represents truth. The truth that Chekhov reveals in the play is the emerging changes in
the Russian social structure. The industrious middle class is on the rise, and the lazy aristocracy
is doomed to fade away. In the end, Lopakhin buys the cherry orchard, which is the estate where
[his] father and grandfather were slaves (Chekhov 366). The cherry orchard was the security, the
wealth, and the power of the aristocracy; it is bought by a merchant, the son of peasants. Could the
aristocracy not see what was happening, or did they choose to remain ignorant? By constructing
summer cottages, the Ranevskaya family could have prevented the loss of the beloved

The Muslim Genocide that Took Place in Europe
Genocide Research Paper I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings
endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor,
never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented (Wiesel). Just like Elie
Wiesel mentioned, one must never remain silent when such atrocities are occurring. Although
there may be times where one feels powerless to injustices there should never be a time where
one fails to protest. Silence is the reason for the moral crimes that have happened in history and
are still going on to this day. Genocides have always happened because of silence. Just like Elie
Wiesel questioned God s silence in Night, he also questioned the world s silence. The silence that
caused the annihilation of many human beings and forever changed history. According to
dictionary.com, a genocide is the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial,
political, or cultural group. As previously mentioned, genocides occur from the silence of the
people, racism, and fear. The belief of superiority of one s own race is the beginning of a
genocide. Hatred towards the Muslims caused the beginning of a new extermination. The Muslim
genocide took place in Europe, Bosnia Herzegovina from 1992 until 1995. Since the beginning of
Bosnia, Muslims have always been the majority in the population. Bosnia was created after the

Isolation In A Clean Well Lighted Place
Avoiding Alienation Jules Verne once said solitude, isolation, are painful things and beyond
human endurance (Verne). It is obvious that within life isolation may cause a person distress.
Despair or depression are huge burdens for individuals, so they often try finding an escape. Most
of the characters within Ernest Hemingway s A Clean Well Lighted Place are surrounded by
loneliness, and as a result gravitate towards a person or thing to provide them comfort. A
majority of the characters have gone through many hardships and lost some of the people they
cared the most about, so it is not surprising that they feel despair. The old man within the story
allegedly tried to commit suicide because He was in despair (Hemingway). The old waiter
working at a cafe empathizes with the old man because he understands that he just wants a place
where he can escape his alienation. There is also a hopeless soldier who is so desperate to escape
his despair that he hires a companion. However, throughout all the solidary, there is a young waiter
who seems anything but lonely. The notion of escaping solidarity within A Clean Well Lighted
Place, is contrasted by the young man and portrayed in the old customer, the old waiter, and... Show

Political Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm
In global political scenario, December 30, 1921 is, arguably, one of the most important days of the
20th century. On this particular day, an unprecedented history was created; Union of Soviet
Socialist Republics (USSR), world s first socialist state was born out of the historical Great
October Socialist Revolution . In the long run, USSR/ Soviet Unionwas not the perfect nation by
any means, yet it s hard to deny the fact that unprecedented changes happened in the world, directly
or indirectly, because of its historic creation, imposing presence, and major league influence in
global politics until its ultimate demise in 1991. Like the political scenario, world literature was
also changing its face during mid twentieth century, and the issue of communismhad become one of
the prominent subjects in the writings of that time. Animal Farm, a novella written by a popular
20th century English writer George Orwell, is both an allegory and satire of the socialist state of
Soviet Union. His own experience of fighting against the totalitarian communists in Spain in 1938
turned Orwell into one of the most astringent critics of Joseph Stalin and his corrupted autocratic
regime in the Soviet Russia. Widely considered as one of the best books of 20th century, Animal
Farm is written in simple language but is vastly rich of allegories and satire. I have chosen this
literature for my research paper, and I will be using it to argue that even though Orwell criticized

punchers in boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most
experienced and successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxingis a sport that provides
excellent physical condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It
increases muscular tone, cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength.
One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t
create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By
punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other
sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make
them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important
role in having well toned muscles. By boxing, bones gain power and size; therefore, the
proportions of muscles are affected in a positive way. When bones get stronger, muscles... Show

example clearly demonstrates how boxing improves strength in a very good way and how it

this, you will be able to defend yourself in any situation (even without hitting your opponent) and

Army Hand Salute Research Paper
History
Have you ever wondered why we salute or where this gesture of respect came from?
To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored
traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today.
This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the
military today.
The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There
are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute.
The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services.
There seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this
gesture of trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and
Medieval Times. During the Roman times when assassinations were widespread and common, in
order to see a public official, a citizen would have to raise their right hand to show that it was free
of a weapon. In Medieval times, a knight in armor would raise their visors ... Show more content on

Navy adopted the hand salute from the British Navy. The British Navy s earlier salutes involved
removing the headgear. When they started adding chinstraps to their headgear, it proved too
difficult to remove the headgear in each instance so they began just touching the hat with their
right hand. This gesture, officially modified in 1820, evolved into the hand salute we use today.
Some may think that hand salute is a sign of inferiority because juniors have to always salute
seniors first but it is not. Juniors salute first as a military courtesy towards seniors and it is always
required to be returned. A few other instances where the hand salute is rendered is during the
National Anthem or foreign national anthem, To the Color , Hail to the Chief , rendering reports,

Rock n roll is constantly changing and evolving into specific sub genres. Sub genres break down
a general genre of music into a more specific and sophisticated type of that category. For example,
rock has many different branches including soft rock, southern rock, and hard rock. Rock in
general typically has a lead electric guitar with a vigorous 4/4 beat produced by the drums.
However, in the sub genre of southern rock, a southern country rhythm is combined with a touch of
rock and roll. Hard rock separates itself by sustaining a loud, powerful, voluminous sound, whereas
soft rock maintains a slower and smoother rhythm while still possessing the rock tone. Each sub

This sub genre originated in the southern United States from the inclusive rock genre. Southern
rock has a very strong lead beat that focuses mainly on vocals and the electric guitar. Just like
country music, southern rock tells a story and that is what makes the lyrics and vocals so
important. Southern rock is a lot like country music as a whole, but separates itself by being
louder, adding a heavier beat, and speeding up the song. Southern rock maintains a rock aspect
by its amplified electric guitar lead and continues to carry a solid beat. Southern rock started to
develop in the mid 1960 s and began to hit its peak in the 1970 s. The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd
Skynyrd, Outlaws, The Marshall Tucker Band, and ZZ Top were a few of the great early bands
in southern rock. Southern rock is still a popular genre including Kid Rock, Shakey Graves, Drive

known for one of their most popular songs, Homesick, released in 1981. This song is categorized
as southern rock due to its hard driven beat and the lead electric guitar feature. This song begins
with an electric solo that supports the classification of rock, but then begins to add riffs to

The Art of Editing and Film Meaning Essay
As one of the most celebrated and best known Soviet directors, Sergei Eisenstein s theoretical
writings and practical uses of editing are a crucial part of cinema s development. He viewed the art
form of film as a tool with which to inflict certain reactions and emotions to audiences, be it through
shock or empathetic understanding. His editing techniques were key elements to achieve these
effects, carefully planned out and sought to create conflict in meaning. Art is not a mirror which
reflects the historical struggle, but a weapon of that struggle. (Vertov in Enzensberger, 1972) His
keen editing work proved cinema s propagandistic potential and was used as such to instigate the
masses against the Soviet bourgeoisie. Therefore, not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brought up without a formal cinematic training, the director started off his career in an LA video
store and making connections by talking about his enticing script ideas. After managing to get
Natural Born Killers (1994) made by a different director, Oliver Stone, he was disappointed with
the final film and decided not to have his style and vision tainted by other filmmakers. This is why
Pulp Fiction is exemplary for his unique vision and techniques.
As mentioned, Tarantino s narrative trademark is non linearity, as he used it in his first feature
films, Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction, and continues to employ it in his other work. He
breaks narrative conventions by avoiding to clearly signpost flashbacks, for instance. Tzioumakis
exemplifies the shift in storytelling through a lack of blurred images, intensification of music,
framing of a character in a close up to suggest that he or she is remembering or imagining
something, and so on . (Tzioumakis, 2006, p. 8) Referring back to Eisenstein, Tarantino s editing
choice is a tool for disorienting the viewer, because even though the narrative is set out in the
scriptwriting phase, it is the edit that makes these temporal transitions difficult to register.
The audience is shown pieces of the narrative like a puzzle, which they have to assemble in order to
understand the full plot. Comprehension of the central action is supplemented by flashbacks to
different characters, giving the movie a Rashomon

National Debt Is Necessary For The Funding Of Federal...
National debt is necessary for the funding of federal programs. Government spending is not only a
focus of the United State s political system, but it affects one s personal choices and lifestyle.
There is a concern with where and why money is spent. A key aspect of government spending is
allocated to education. Education is fundamental in how one benefits society and the economy. The
United Stateseducation program is not only necessary for the success of the country, but it is in
need of a more efficient system with increased funding. Education is the foundation of a person s
success and way of life. Graduating from school is important not only for an individual, but it helps
the local and national economy. A study by the Alliance for Excellent Education shows that with
higher graduation rates among high schoolstudents, the economies of cities, states, and of the
country would increase (Rollins). Compared to the rest of the world, the United States spends a
large amount of money on education (U.S. Education). While many may think this sufficient,
Professor Bruce Baker discusses the correlation between supporting schools with federal funding
and the success of students, When schools have more money, they have greater opportunity to
spend productively. When they don t, they can t (ii, Baker). If students are to graduate and
contribute to the boost of economies, education must be the forefront of federal funding. The
United States is spending what seems to be like

William Shakespeare s A Murder On The Orient Express
In contemporary media, the art of the mystery seems to have been lost. Most authors and
storytellers simply continue to clarify until there is no mystery left to uncover. The audience is
then able to easily deduce the ending fairly early on. This, however, was not always the case.
Writers like Agatha Christie did not baby or spoil readers by making the enigma easier to solve;
instead she did everything in her power to conceal the ending and delay the solution to the reader.
In A Murder on the Orient Express, rather than clarifying as the novel progresses, Agatha Christie
shrouds and obfuscates the solution until the very end using a variety of techniques to manipulate
the readers in order to keep them interested, immersed, but, most importantly, invested and involved
in the final outcome to the mystery.
One of the most important attributes of a mystery novel is the distribution of information and
details surrounding the plot and characters of the caper. The reader expects to be, at the very least,
introduced to all relevant information. Christie uses this to her advantage.Red Herrings are devices
meant to distract and draw attention to something plausible although ultimately irrelevant, Christie
takes advantage of this device to deceive the reader into overlooking crucial information that leads
to the solution of the mystery; keeping them connected and involved to the book for longer.
Throughout the novel Christie consistently drops hints and clues in order to distract the

saying, There s only one boy on this launch with any brains at all, and that s Ender Wiggin. Two
other instances were the times Graff transferred Ender from his launch to Salamander and from
Salamander to Rat at the same time Ender was getting to known the kids in his group. Graff not
only isolated Ender, but he also took Ender s advocate, Valentine, and put her on their side. In this
way, Graff was controlling Ender s life. Valentine was used to influence Ender a couple of times,
including the times Valentine encouraged Ender to keep persevering in Battle School and
Command School. Through all of Graff s isolation and control, Ender was basically owned by Graff

The Wedding Cake Model And Criminalfication Model In The...
Three models portraying our criminal justice system are the Wedding Cake Model,
Criminalization Model, and the President s Commission Model. The Wedding Cake Model
emphasizes that the system handles different kinds of cases differently; it depicts four layers or
tiers of cases . While the Wedding Model offers an accurate typology of cases processed through
the system, its primary focus is on the decisions of prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges.
There is a glimpse the role of power and status in such decisions, but the factors of race, class, and
gender are not explicit. But, this model does not address the lawmaking process and the social
inequalities in the economic and political systems in which laws are forged. Now the second
model, the Criminalization model explores the role of social class in the criminal justicesystem. It
shows that the system is used to control certain groups of people by criminalizing their behaviors
and targeting them for arrest and incarceration. The third model, the President s Commission
Model provides the most famous portrayal of the criminal justice system by summarizing the
stages of the system. In comparison, the Wedding Cake Model and the Criminalization Model are
similar because they both show the recognition of power and status in the criminal justice system.
These two models are the opposite of the President s Commission Model due to the fact that this
model does not show the roles played by race, gender, and social class at the

Nazi Propaganda Reached an Extreme State with the Passing...
Nazi propaganda started off simply as a display of anti Semitism. However as time
progressed it became more and more extreme. In 1933 the Nazis passed the Nuremberg laws.
The first rule of order was to prohibit Jews from holding public office. This is only the first step
in their plot to diminish the Jewish community. More laws then came. In 1935, the Nuremberg
laws took German citizenship away from the Jews. They also had to wear a bright yellow star
attached to their clothes so the Nazis could identify them. o Page 2: Kristallnacht Then came
Kristallnacht, or The Night of Broken Glass. In early November 1938, Nazi leaders overheard the
news of a young German Jew, by the name of Herschel Grynszpan, who shot an employee of the

It is very clear to see the increasing effort that the Nazis were putting into annihilating the Jewish
population at this time. However it only got worse. o Page 5: The Concentration Camps
Hitler became weary of waiting for the Jews to die off. He wanted them gone much quicker
and in a wider scale. He set up a plan called the Final Solution in 1939. This was a perfect
example of pure genocide. At this point, Hitler not only wanted to rid Germany of Jews, but
anyone who is not a part of the so called Aryan race. The SS, Hitler s elite security force, rounded
up thousands upon thousands of men, woman, children, and even newborns; and took them to
concentration camps. The Nazis used psychological torture tactics on the captives. They were
captured in early morning, thus making them disoriented and confused; they were told to strip
naked at the camps and forced to stand nude among millions of other inmates. This was a tactic
of dehumanizing the inmates. The conditions were made purposely terrible in order to kill the
Jews in a large scale. At this point, hostility towards Jews is almost at its peak. o Page 6: The
Final Solution But it came to a point where Hitler desired mass extermination. In early 1942,
the Nazis built death camps prepared with gas chambers made for mass murder. The first death
camp, by the name of Chelmno, began operating in

No Other Place Like Home
Home is more than just four walls; it is a place and feeling that surrounds people with security
and comfort. It is culture, religion and traditions. Homeland is a place one can call home, whether
it is a person s native land or a place where anyone can feel safe, happy and welcome. In an
immigrant s perspective, on the other hand, they have a hard time calling home home. Laviera a
famous Nuyorican poet, decribed his battle in the poem NUyorican. He points out the idea that
immigrants migrate elsewhere to find economic stability and later return to their hometown and

Revision Narrative
Revision Narrative
One of the biggest change I made was changing the narrator of the story. I decided to change it to
a third person narrator to give myself more flexibility in terms of description because I felt like
the first person narrator limited what I was able to describe. However, writing in the third person
also proved to be challenging. The different POV changed the tone and voice of the story. Plus I
couldn t decide on which girl was the main protagonist of the story. As I delved into both girls mind
through third person narrative they both became more interesting, and it was harder for me to
decide on one main character. Now the subject of the story keep shifting between both girls.

The Pros And Cons Of The Bolsheviks
The Bolsheviks were an organization of professional revolutionaries. They were governed by quasi
military discipline and democratic centralism. The principle of democratic centralism became more
centralized and less democratic over time. The beliefs and practices of the Bolsheviks are called
Bolshevism. Vladimir Leninwas the founder of the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks were an important
factor in the Russian Revolution. ( New World Encyclopedia 1) Between March and May, 1903,
Julius Martov and Vladimir Lenin had their first disagreement on who the party memberships
should be open to. Lenin thought the party membership should be limited to only a small core of
professional revolutionaries. Although Martov agreed that the membership should be open to
professional revolutionaries, he also thought it should be open to sympathizers, revolutionary
workers, and other travellers. This is where they disagreed. Their disagreement did not split the
party until August 1903 at the Second Congress of the RSDLP. Lenin and Martov s disagreement
at first seemed based at personal conflicts. One of them being Lenin insisting that less active
editorial board members should be dropped. Martov supported one of Lenin s oppositions the

forms of it can cause warts while others may cause cervical changes that may lead to cancer (4).
HPV can infect both man and woman but only causes cancer in females. Although HPV seems to

The uses of perspective in James Joyce s story, Araby , focuses on the narrator s point of view. In
the story, we know the narrator is nameless; also we get to know his ambition and the goals as
well as his lifestyle. In Araby , we understand the daily lives of Dubliners, and how it all connects
their ability to loveanother. Actually, the love of this story is an escape in the daily life of
Dubliners. The narrator was captivated by Mangan s sister, however, it is because he was tied up
in the thoughts of new experiences, he also does not understand what he feels for Mangan s sister.

Pedro Almodovar Auteur
A film that I found to be interesting and entertaining was Volver (2006) by Pedro Almodovar.
Almodovar is a director that received acclimates of being a very distinct auteur very early in his
career. Almodovar s style and influences are prominent all throughout Volver. I will be
discussing Volver and how it has become a typical icon film of Almodovar s work. Many of
Almodovar s film are reflective of his upbringing. Almodovar said, You can say my films are
melodramas, tragicomedies, comedies or whatever because I used to put everything together and
even change genre within the same sequence and very quickly (Kinder 37). Typically his films
have very distinct aspects in them that vary and is what makes an Almodovar film. Almodovar films

Almodovar always sets his films in Spain. Although Almodovar has the liberty to go all over the
world and film wherever he wants he chooses not to. Volveris set in two main places. The main
story is set in Madrid. Raimunda lives in Madrid with her daughter. In addition, Madrid is also
where the restaurant that Raimunda takes over is at. In addition to making Madrid one of the
places that Volver takes place at a small portion of the film also takes place in called La Mancha,
which is also in Spain. Almodovar likes to use places that are familiar to him. For example, La
Manca is a place that is familiar to Almodovar. Furthermore, Almodovar later moved to Madrid
as he grew up in order to pursue his film career although the local film school had just shut down.
Volver plot was first mentioned in one of Almodovar s earlier films called The Flower of My
Secret, in which it was mentioned as a novel which is rejected for publication but it is later stolen
to form a screenplay of a film called The Freezer. Almodovar likes to mention himself in different
aspects. In addition in The Flower of My secret the main character writes many books under a

Female Stereotypes In The Media Essay
Female Stereotypes In The Media
In the media the most common female stereotypes, are the housewife and the blonde bimbo.
The Housewife. Chained to the kitchen sink, always cleaning and cooking. An old stereotype.
In the advertisement for Shake `n Vac a woman is doing the vacuuming and dancing around
shaking Shake `n Vac on the floor. This is a stereotypefor the reason that a man is nowhere to be
found. But in advertisements for intelligent matters like finance, it s always a man.
At first, when I saw the advertisement for Mc Cain s chips, I thought the woman in it wasn t
stereotypical, as she was not cooking the meal, the man was. But after a while I saw that this was

For instance, I saw an advertisement in which a woman was showing some people round her house.
She shows them the rooms and then she says, ГґAnd here s my garage,Г¶ and you see this room
with white ceilings, white wallpaper, cupboards and lights and a car. This was meant to be
humorous showing that this woman went to the extreme of even tiding up her garage.
The Blonde Bimbo. Long or fluffy hair, revealing clothes. Sometimes dumb, not able to use
machines, dependant on her man, not able to do anything, can t control her emotions over men.
When I watched the TV to find some examples of stereotypes, the first thing I saw was a trailer for
a documentary about David Bailey. Included were lots of female models. They were all skinny,
they had really thick make up on and lots of them were blonde. The dialogue included ГґThe
photographer slept with 300 womenö and one of his models saying, ôYeah I ll get my tits out for
him.Г¶ The trailer was representing all of the models as sluts.
Changing the channel to Challenge TV some more stereotypes of women appeared. The females
on the show were the presenter of the game show, Donna Air, who had long curly blonde hair,
and a shirt with half the buttons not done up showing off her bra, and a contestant who also had
blonde hair, had big boobs, and was wearing a low cut top and was referred to by the other host as

Evaluating Football Players
Evaluating Football Players Essay
by
D. Cummings It may seem overly simplified and obvious to state that player evaluation is critical
in generating success and wins on the football field. A coach may have the greatest system and an
amazing game plan laid out but, without the right players in the right positions the only thing a
coach will collect are losses. This is true of coaching recreational and youth football through the
professional ranks. Player evaluation is not only about addressing the physical skills needed for
specific positions but, it is also about plugging in the right players who posses the temperament and
character to lead the team in all critical situations on the field. Coach Trimble has a very ... Show

The first thing a coach at the youth level evaluates is the physical ability of the players. Timed
sprints, agility drills, and ball handling (catching and throwing) drills give a coach a baseline of
data to work from after the first practice. Coach Trimble has a staff that can handle the collection
of most of this type of data. A coach at the lower levels may not have any assistant coaches and
needs to be prepared to be the sole collector of raw data and anecdotal notes on each player. If at
all possible, youth coaches should try to illicit help from parents in collecting data.
Tracking and collecting player information and data can be done using a good old fashion clip
board and paper however, there are a number of outstanding apps for both iPhone and Android
systems that enable a coach to track and maintain up to date player statistics. Nextplay is excellent
app that has a good reputation for helping coaches stay on top of player development but, it
requires a monthly subscription if you want to use it beyond the initial try out period. iGrade is
another quality app for coaches to use in the evaluation of players and provides other helpful coach
friendly functions.
It should be obvious after the first practice which players have have a general aptitude for the
skilled positions. Continued collection of data from drills and sprints should be used to confirm

Obama s Foreign Policy on China Essay
President Barack Obama and his administration s foreign policy toward China can be summed up in
one word: conciliatory. Conciliatory is not in the form of any weakness or appeasement, but rather
the realization that in the 21st century global market, China is a main player on the world stage.
Obama s foreign policies are a departure from the previous administration. George Bush s unilateral
foreign policies were deemed domineering, even belligerent. From an international standpoint, Anti
American sentiments were at an all time high during Iraqi War driven years. In America, the
domestic stance after 9/11 saw this as an extension of patriotism and commitment. Nowadays, both
domestically and internationally, many pundits would argue that... Show more content on

This is a double edge sword that does not have an easy solution so I understand both sides and that
no country is living in a vacuum. There are a quite a bit of complexities and consequences to
consider and I believe there will be a mutual success in this issue. Concerning Human Capital, the
Obama Administration has also pressed hard to improve the human rights issues in China in terms
of economic policies to benefit workers and their family situations. Historically, having the highest
population at a staggering figure of over $1.3 billion people, the human labor supply is more than
available at any given moment. Thus, United States especially has outsourced countless
manufacturing companies and jobs to China. This reality the President clearly stated will not
change anytime in the future so this must be an accepted reality. (Ivaneishvili 2012) So, the Obama
administration has sharply criticized China for their lack of enforcement and laws to deal with such
violations. But, this criticism as the State Department states applies to the United States as well, but
the United States has laws to deal with this issues so the criticism is being put in a way not to
outfight offend Chinese policies but to encourage an increase in the priority of the Chinese
government to follow up actions to remedy the situation (Berg 2012). The State Department also
applauded China for the actions that China already has taken to ensure better working

Examples Of Transactional Analysis Model
Using the T.A. Model for change illustrate the benefits of being aware of Transactions in
relationship and in the working environment.
By my new discovery in psychoanalysis of a person called Transactional Analysis , provided by
institution, I had a great opportunity to analyze myself and my personal character. I now know that
all people are divided in several internal models that can change the relationships between all people
we interact with. Dr. Eric Berne is a person who found the most common definition of the
Transactional Analysis. To find it easy to understand, we can define the Transactional Analysis as
the method for studying interactions between individuals.
The basic model that transactional analysis has is called ego states . Main principle is to identify
the behavior, person s feelings, character and thoughts, the result will bring up one or several ego
states that exist in individual. By looking at the definition of Dr. Bern towards Ego states theory: A
steady example of feeling and experience straightforwardly identified with a relating reliable
example of conduct (Bern, 1961), we can understand that all people has at least one strongly
marked ego state.
The ego state can be found and identified by the way person speak to the other people as family,

  • 2. The Effect The Molarity Of Sucrose Solution Has On Osmolarity Title: The effect the molarity of sucrose solution has on osmolarity Introduction: Passive transport occurs when substances move from high concentration areas to a lower concentration region. Both Diffusion and Osmosis are examples of passive transport, however, osmosis is when water molecules move across a selectively permeable membrane. The plasma membrane, being a thin barrier to outside environment, is a selectively permeable membrane. Thus, it only allows certain particles to enter or exit the cell. A selectively permeable membrane is important because it protects the cell from certain materials that can potentially be toxic to the cell by not allowing the cell to diffuse uniformly; this means that not all particles can equally facilitate to the cell (encyclopedia ,n.d.). The movement of substance across a membrane is caused by two factors, their size and charge (Pearson Education, 2008). If a substance is small and nonpolar it can easily move but if it s large and polar, it will have difficulty traveling across the membrane. For example, the selectively permeable membrane allows water, which is known as solvent, to move freely but prevents large molecules such as sugar molecules from passing through; the sugar molecules are known as solute (BBC, 2014). However, facilitated diffusion can help the molecules that cannot pass through the cell membrane by themselves. Facilitated diffusion can help these molecules due specialize proteins such as the channel protein and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Julio Caesar by William Shakespeare Essay Composers build on our perspectives to instil diverse interpretation of events, situations and personalities represented through various mediums shaped by their purpose. Thus the representation of conflicting perspectives within their works enables responders to experience a deeper understanding of the world. This is clearly demonstrated in Shakespeare s tragic play Julius Caesar(1599) and Jason Reitman s satirical film Thankyou for Smoking (2005). While the Elizabethan context informs Shakespeare s differing perspectives of Caesar s assassination in relation to human beings complexities and the manipulation used to gain power, centuries later, Reitman also explores the multi faceted nature of an individual and the persuasion involved... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film opens with Nick appearing on Joan Launden s daytime talk show Joan, and as he is introduced Reitman uses slow motion shots and freeze frames to capture the audience spitting, pointing and shouting at him, signifying the hatred of his powerful and dubious position. Reitman extends this portrayal with a mid length shot of Nick holding a lighter in front of the American flag with a caption below indicating the number of people who die from smoking each year. The confrontational nature of this scene conveys to the audience an immediate image of Nick s despised persona. It is only towards the dГ©nouement of the film when Nick resigns from his job that Reitman offers up a more compassionate perspective on him. His vulnerability becomes obvious through cross edits to his son and the voice over of Nick stating, Some things are more important in life than paying the mortgage . Thus both texts explore the conflicting perspectives of Caesar and Nick s multi faceted personalities, and enrich the responder s appreciation of human nature and the world around us. This reflects Shakespeare s values of political stability and Reitman s judgment of the nature of political and corporate culture in a capitalist society. As individuals gain power, their higher authority often strives for an easily controlled and often manipulated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Likewise, Lady Macbeth is characterized as a greedy individual by wanting Macbeth to take any action necessary to become King so she may become Queen. It does not stem from a hatred of Indiana but, it is more of how we are viewed in the eye of the public. Most people know us as the 500 state or the Corn State and recently we received the title Home of Pence . Though these associations are not all bad, it leaves our state void of any substance or beauty. That is why Downtown Indianapolis Makes me proud to be a Hoosier. The fact that there is a great deal to witness; a vast amount to see and being able to experience it all in such close proximity establishes downtown as a unique place to visit. (Knopf, 1996) This neglect then of rhyme so little is to be taken for a defect, though it may seem so perhaps to vulgar readers, that it rather is to be esteemed an example set, the first in English, of ancient liberty recovered to heroic poem from the troublesome and modern bondage of writing. (Knopf, 1996) Book One proposes the whole subject of the poem of mans disobedience and the loss of the Paradise where God had placed him. The serpent or Satan is talked about whom is the prime cause of mans fall. Satan who was once at Gods side had revolted and was driven out of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states the purpose of his journey to explore, and after some difficulty he is allowed to pass through with the help of Chaos who is the power of that place. God is sitting on his throne with His Son at His side; they see Satan on his way to the newly created world. God foretells His Son of how Satan is able to trick man, as man is free to make his own choices. Because of the choices that man makes, he must die unless someone can be found who will answer to the sins of man, and will then take on the punishment for these sins. The Son of God then freely offers Himself as the ransom for mankind, and the Father accepts. There is then much celebration in heaven as they now have a plan to save mankind. Satan arrives: thence comes to the gate of heaven, described ascending by stairs, and the water above the firmament that flow about it; his passage thence to the orb of the sun: he finds there Uriel, the regent of that orb, but first changes himself into the shape of a meaner angel, and pretending a zealous desire to behold the new creation, and man whom God had placed here, inquires him the place of his habitation, and is directed: alights first on Mount Niphates. • 13. Hybrid Vs. Electric Cars Hybrid vs. Electric When hearing the words gas, hybrid and electric, people automatically think of automobiles.. [this is a very clunky opening rewrite it I think people do know those are the three main types of cars...] People buy hybrid or electric cars because they either want to save money on gas or they want to be able to help the environment with their vehicles. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in the United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great mileage and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically powered car has recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology powered cars, such as the Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered vehicles, such as Tesla s Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers the vehicle. The gas powered vehicle has been a problem for the environment since the day it was created. These vehicles emit greenhouse gasses that are detrimental towards the environment. Nearly one fifth of the United States total fuel emissions come from gas powered cars. In 2012 transportation contributed with 28% of total greenhouse emissions in the United States. One of the greenhouse gasses that cars emit is Carbon Dioxide. What greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide do is trap heat in the Earth s atmosphere leading to the atmospheric temperature rising. • 14. Welfare Is Not Solving Poverty Ronald Reagan said, Welfare s purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence. Welfare is not solving Poverty in America. Before I start this argument I need to assert that I do not think that welfare is a matter of solving poverty anymore. I agree with Ban Ki Moon when he says, True security is based on people s welfare. Welfare has become a way of keeping the impoverished people from becoming desperate enough to commit crimes, but within this system, that was originally meant to improve the povertysituation, there is evidence that it is causing more people to fall below the poverty line and become dependent on it. I think the US government should consider a welfare reform while thinking about what they really need welfare to accomplish. I think that a welfare program is necessary and I think that a program to help people who are in poverty is needed, but right now I do not think these two programs coincide as they are supposed to. Thus, welfare is hindering impoverished people from ever getting above the poverty line, and the government needs to reform the program. Over the past several years, Welfare reform has been a hot topic in politics in the United States. A lot of research has been done on the effectiveness of welfare and most research states that welfare is hindering rather than helping people get out of poverty. When talking about the role played by anti poverty programs in America, David T. Ellwood and Lawrence H. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Benefits And Applications Of The Software Defined Networking 2.) Abstract: The project focuses on the cost effective enhancement of enterprise network security via OpenFlow controlled switches and specialized SDN applications running on a controller. The project will investigate on securing the network from various attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), DHCP attack. Different security measures will be discussed through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be implemented over SDN. 3.) Objectives: The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day technologies. 1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service attacks. 2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will enable more options to enhance the security. The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology. By implementing Security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that will be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of Service, Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention is that if an administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he would have to configure all the networking equipment separately with the ... Scientists have studied various organisms that are able to repair damaged body parts, such as lizards, spiders, sponges, and sharks. These are a few organisms that undergo regeneration with different body parts such as tails, legs, body divisions, and teeth. The process of regenerationdescribes the replacement, renewal, and restoration of lost body parts. Dugesia tigrina are flatworms of the Turbellaria class that can live in saltwater or freshwater environments (Reddien and Alvarado 2004). Ignorance is the assumption that one can understand all about the world around them. An ignorant person is so confident they comprehend the truth, that they are blind to the greater truth. Anton Chekhov and Sophoclesdeal with the idea of this sinful pride that leads to ignorance in their respective works, The Cherry Orchard and Oedipus Rex. In The Cherry Orchard, the Ranevskayas are an aristocratic family that squander away their final days at their beloved cherry orchard. It shall soon be auctioned off, yet the family merely sits about and engages in meaningless chatter. They assume that everything shall be taken care of, the way it always has been in their lives. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented (Wiesel). Just like Elie Wiesel mentioned, one must never remain silent when such atrocities are occurring. Although there may be times where one feels powerless to injustices there should never be a time where one fails to protest. Silence is the reason for the moral crimes that have happened in history and are still going on to this day. Genocides have always happened because of silence. Just like Elie Wiesel questioned God s silence in Night, he also questioned the world s silence. The silence that caused the annihilation of many human beings and forever changed history. It is obvious that within life isolation may cause a person distress. Despair or depression are huge burdens for individuals, so they often try finding an escape. Most of the characters within Ernest Hemingway s A Clean Well Lighted Place are surrounded by loneliness, and as a result gravitate towards a person or thing to provide them comfort. A majority of the characters have gone through many hardships and lost some of the people they cared the most about, so it is not surprising that they feel despair. The old man within the story allegedly tried to commit suicide because He was in despair (Hemingway). On this particular day, an unprecedented history was created; Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), world s first socialist state was born out of the historical Great October Socialist Revolution . In the long run, USSR/ Soviet Unionwas not the perfect nation by any means, yet it s hard to deny the fact that unprecedented changes happened in the world, directly or indirectly, because of its historic creation, imposing presence, and major league influence in global politics until its ultimate demise in 1991. Like the political scenario, world literature was also changing its face during mid twentieth century, and the issue of communismhad become one of the prominent subjects in the writings of that time. Animal Farm, a novella written by a popular 20th century English writer George Orwell, is both an allegory and satire of the socialist state of Soviet Union. His own experience of fighting against the totalitarian communists in Spain in 1938 turned Orwell into one of the most astringent critics of Joseph Stalin and his corrupted autocratic regime in the Soviet Russia. Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxingis a sport that provides excellent physical condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone, cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength. One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in having well toned muscles. By boxing, bones gain power and size; therefore, the proportions of muscles are affected in a positive way. When bones get stronger, muscles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. Army Hand Salute Research Paper History Have you ever wondered why we salute or where this gesture of respect came from? To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today. This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the military today. The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute. The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services. There seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this gesture of trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and Medieval Times. During the Roman times when assassinations were widespread and common, in order to see a public official, a citizen would have to raise their right hand to show that it was free of a weapon. In Medieval times, a knight in armor would raise their visors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Navy adopted the hand salute from the British Navy. The British Navy s earlier salutes involved removing the headgear. When they started adding chinstraps to their headgear, it proved too difficult to remove the headgear in each instance so they began just touching the hat with their right hand. This gesture, officially modified in 1820, evolved into the hand salute we use today. Some may think that hand salute is a sign of inferiority because juniors have to always salute seniors first but it is not. Juniors salute first as a military courtesy towards seniors and it is always required to be returned. A few other instances where the hand salute is rendered is during the National Anthem or foreign national anthem, To the Color , Hail to the Chief , rendering reports, and raising and lowering of the ... A seizure is divided into two broad categories: partial and generalized. Symptoms can range from brief periods of unconsciousness to violent convulsions. A focus may result from several causes, including congenital defects, hypoxia at birth, head trauma, braininfection, stroke, cancer, and genetic disorders. Sub genres break down a general genre of music into a more specific and sophisticated type of that category. For example, rock has many different branches including soft rock, southern rock, and hard rock. Rock in general typically has a lead electric guitar with a vigorous 4/4 beat produced by the drums. However, in the sub genre of southern rock, a southern country rhythm is combined with a touch of rock and roll. Hard rock separates itself by sustaining a loud, powerful, voluminous sound, whereas soft rock maintains a slower and smoother rhythm while still possessing the rock tone. Southern rock maintains a rock aspect by its amplified electric guitar lead and continues to carry a solid beat. Southern rock started to develop in the mid 1960 s and began to hit its peak in the 1970 s. The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws, The Marshall Tucker Band, and ZZ Top were a few of the great early bands in southern rock. • 38. The Art of Editing and Film Meaning Essay As one of the most celebrated and best known Soviet directors, Sergei Eisenstein s theoretical writings and practical uses of editing are a crucial part of cinema s development. He viewed the art form of film as a tool with which to inflict certain reactions and emotions to audiences, be it through shock or empathetic understanding. His editing techniques were key elements to achieve these effects, carefully planned out and sought to create conflict in meaning. Art is not a mirror which reflects the historical struggle, but a weapon of that struggle. (Vertov in Enzensberger, 1972) His keen editing work proved cinema s propagandistic potential and was used as such to instigate the masses against the Soviet bourgeoisie. Therefore, not... Brought up without a formal cinematic training, the director started off his career in an LA video store and making connections by talking about his enticing script ideas. After managing to get Natural Born Killers (1994) made by a different director, Oliver Stone, he was disappointed with the final film and decided not to have his style and vision tainted by other filmmakers. This is why Pulp Fiction is exemplary for his unique vision and techniques. As mentioned, Tarantino s narrative trademark is non linearity, as he used it in his first feature films, Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction, and continues to employ it in his other work. He breaks narrative conventions by avoiding to clearly signpost flashbacks, for instance. Tzioumakis exemplifies the shift in storytelling through a lack of blurred images, intensification of music, framing of a character in a close up to suggest that he or she is remembering or imagining something, and so on . (Tzioumakis, 2006, p. 8) Referring back to Eisenstein, Tarantino s editing choice is a tool for disorienting the viewer, because even though the narrative is set out in the scriptwriting phase, it is the edit that makes these temporal transitions difficult to register. The audience is shown pieces of the narrative like a puzzle, which they have to assemble in order to understand the full plot. Comprehension of the central action is supplemented by flashbacks to different characters, giving the movie a Rashomon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Government spending is not only a focus of the United State s political system, but it affects one s personal choices and lifestyle. There is a concern with where and why money is spent. A key aspect of government spending is allocated to education. Education is fundamental in how one benefits society and the economy. The United Stateseducation program is not only necessary for the success of the country, but it is in need of a more efficient system with increased funding. Education is the foundation of a person s success and way of life. Graduating from school is important not only for an individual, but it helps the local and national economy. A study by the Alliance for Excellent Education shows that with higher graduation rates among high schoolstudents, the economies of cities, states, and of the country would increase (Rollins). Compared to the rest of the world, the United States spends a large amount of money on education (U.S. Education). While many may think this sufficient, Professor Bruce Baker discusses the correlation between supporting schools with federal funding and the success of students, When schools have more money, they have greater opportunity to spend productively. William Shakespeare s A Murder On The Orient Express In contemporary media, the art of the mystery seems to have been lost. Most authors and storytellers simply continue to clarify until there is no mystery left to uncover. The audience is then able to easily deduce the ending fairly early on. This, however, was not always the case. Writers like Agatha Christie did not baby or spoil readers by making the enigma easier to solve; instead she did everything in her power to conceal the ending and delay the solution to the reader. In A Murder on the Orient Express, rather than clarifying as the novel progresses, Agatha Christie shrouds and obfuscates the solution until the very end using a variety of techniques to manipulate the readers in order to keep them interested, immersed, but, most importantly, invested and involved in the final outcome to the mystery. One of the most important attributes of a mystery novel is the distribution of information and details surrounding the plot and characters of the caper. The reader expects to be, at the very least, introduced to all relevant information. Christie uses this to her advantage.Red Herrings are devices meant to distract and draw attention to something plausible although ultimately irrelevant, Christie takes advantage of this device to deceive the reader into overlooking crucial information that leads to the solution of the mystery; keeping them connected and involved to the book for longer. The Wedding Cake Model emphasizes that the system handles different kinds of cases differently; it depicts four layers or tiers of cases . While the Wedding Model offers an accurate typology of cases processed through the system, its primary focus is on the decisions of prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges. There is a glimpse the role of power and status in such decisions, but the factors of race, class, and gender are not explicit. But, this model does not address the lawmaking process and the social inequalities in the economic and political systems in which laws are forged. It shows that the system is used to control certain groups of people by criminalizing their behaviors and targeting them for arrest and incarceration. The third model, the President s Commission Model provides the most famous portrayal of the criminal justice system by summarizing the stages of the system. Coach Trimble has a very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first thing a coach at the youth level evaluates is the physical ability of the players. Timed sprints, agility drills, and ball handling (catching and throwing) drills give a coach a baseline of data to work from after the first practice. Coach Trimble has a staff that can handle the collection of most of this type of data. A coach at the lower levels may not have any assistant coaches and needs to be prepared to be the sole collector of raw data and anecdotal notes on each player. Conciliatory is not in the form of any weakness or appeasement, but rather the realization that in the 21st century global market, China is a main player on the world stage. Obama s foreign policies are a departure from the previous administration. George Bush s unilateral foreign policies were deemed domineering, even belligerent. From an international standpoint, Anti American sentiments were at an all time high during Iraqi War driven years. In America, the domestic stance after 9/11 saw this as an extension of patriotism and commitment. Nowadays, both domestically and internationally, many pundits would argue that... There are a quite a bit of complexities and consequences to consider and I believe there will be a mutual success in this issue. Concerning Human Capital, the Obama Administration has also pressed hard to improve the human rights issues in China in terms of economic policies to benefit workers and their family situations. Historically, having the highest population at a staggering figure of over $1.3 billion people, the human labor supply is more than available at any given moment. Thus, United States especially has outsourced countless manufacturing companies and jobs to China. This reality the President clearly stated will not change anytime in the future so this must be an accepted reality. (Ivaneishvili 2012) So, the Obama administration has sharply criticized China for their lack of enforcement and laws to deal with such violations. But, this criticism as the State Department states applies to the United States as well, but the United States has laws to deal with this issues so the criticism is being put in a way not to outfight offend Chinese policies but to encourage an increase in the priority of the Chinese government to follow up actions to remedy the situation (Berg 2012). The State Department also applauded China for the actions that China already has taken to ensure better working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By my new discovery in psychoanalysis of a person called Transactional Analysis , provided by institution, I had a great opportunity to analyze myself and my personal character. I now know that all people are divided in several internal models that can change the relationships between all people we interact with. Dr. Eric Berne is a person who found the most common definition of the Transactional Analysis. To find it easy to understand, we can define the Transactional Analysis as the method for studying interactions between individuals. The basic model that transactional analysis has is called ego states . Main principle is to identify the behavior, person s feelings, character and thoughts, the result will bring up one or several ego states that exist in individual. By looking at the definition of Dr. Bern towards Ego states theory: A steady example of feeling and experience straightforwardly identified with a relating reliable example of conduct (Bern, 1961), we can understand that all people has at least one strongly marked ego state.
