The author uses a spatial clustering algorithm called mean-shift to identify "hot spots" with high volumes of tweets in different regions of the US. They then analyze the most popular hashtags within each cluster to identify differences in topics between regions. The results show clear differences in hashtags used depending on location, such as hashtags about cities within each cluster. However, the author notes limitations around parameter selection and the presence of spam tweets, and suggests areas for future improvement.

Market research is the process of gathering and analyzing information about markets, customers, competitors and the industry. It helps businesses understand customer needs, reduce risk for new products, improve marketing and identify growth opportunities. Effective market research uses both primary research like surveys and interviews for in-depth customer insights, as well as secondary research from existing sources to provide a broader perspective. Market segmentation then allows businesses to focus their limited resources on specific customer groups.
Deep learning is the fastest growing field in artificial intelligence. The top stories highlight why AI and deep learning are popular, including how startups are now marketing themselves as "X plus AI" rather than "the Uber for X". Deep learning apps are phenomenally popular, and AI is transforming industries like retail, finance, automotive, education, and healthcare by helping tasks like tracking vaccinations and identifying missing children.
Convolutional neural networks are well-suited for hardware acceleration through FPGAs. FPGAs allow reconfigurability to implement different CNN models and select the optimal one directly in hardware. This reconfigurability explores a large design space to find the model that achieves the best trade-off between performance and power consumption, quantified as GOPs/Watt.

Speed up your Tests - Devi Sridharan, ThoughtWorksThoughtworks
To speed up tests, identify and isolate flaky tests, fix their root causes, and monitor them continuously. Tests can also be parallelized by running independent tests on multiple VMs simultaneously using tools like Selenium Grid. Break suites into focused suites like smoke and regression. Create smart test data programmatically via APIs or databases for reliability and speed. Use direct locators like IDs over generic XPaths. Add conditional waits instead of generic waits to tests. Unit testing is a shared responsibility between developers and testers.

This document summarizes the problems with relying solely on deadlines to manage projects. It argues that deadlines promote behaviors like multitasking, lack of transparency, and homeostasis around deadlines rather than focusing on speed. This decreases efficiency and increases variability, stress, and the likelihood of missed deadlines. However, the problems of deadline-focused management are not well recognized because deadlines are assumed and convenient, their negative effects are not well understood, and organizations value predictability over speed.

Using Cost of Delay to de-scale your organisation through decentralised decis...Michael Fagan
It isn’t enough to break down our portfolio into small pieces and execute them in isolation from one another. We must acknowledge that variance in knowledge work is a fact of life, specialists are scarce, people find new jobs, life happens. Rather than think of an organisation as individual parts to be managed, think of it as a living organism which adapts and responds as a whole.
By empowering people to take decisions based on objective data linked to a shared vision people are not simply playing a game according to a set of rules, they are responsible for the game.
Don Reinertsen in his seminal book "The Principles of Product Development Flow" states:
"If you only quantify one thing, quantify the Cost of Delay. "
In this talk I will present how the Cost of Delay can be derived from data your organisation has lying around how you can super charge decision making speed and consequently the flow of value.
The document discusses key aspects of project management. It defines a project as having a goal and parameters like scope, time, cost, quality and risk. It also discusses what is needed for project success like happy customers, on-time deliverables, on-budget costs, and team cohesion. Additionally, it outlines the primary roles of a project manager as building the team, maintaining data and schedules, organizing resources, managing conflicts, and reviewing work. Finally, it discusses the typical phases of project management: initiation, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing.
A skilled project manager knows how to avoid failures through education, experience, and using structured methodologies. Formal communication plans and realistic expectations based on the project plan can also help ensure success. Having the proper resources for the project in terms of staffing levels and skills is another critical factor.

4. Data-Driven Deadline
Jot down the concrete steps along
with speculated time to analyse
the total estimated time
A little miscalculation will make
you miss the deadline
5. Arbitrary Deadline
Helps to set up a
milestone in mind
Fixing a deadline by own
based on past experience
or a wild guess
Arbitrary deadline
is better than no
deadline
6. Bureaucratic (Padded) Deadline
When your higher ups allocate
you a task with creating a
deadline, you have the
opportunity to ‘pad’ your
deadline with some extra time
7. Importance of meeting Deadline
Cash Flow
Represent milestones that affects
profitability
Failing deadline increases expense
Restrict from wasting time
inefficiently

8. How to Meet Deadline?
One of the best ways an
individual can be able
to meet deadlines
effectively is to institute
project management.
TIME
SCOPE
COSTS
9. A successful project management is
NOT only about completing projects.
We must learn the way to plan and
produce the project in a proper
mannerism.
How you manage deadlines will have
an intense effect on your team's
efforts.
Need to develop
Project Management Skills
