1. Citing a Britannica Article in NoodleTools

1. Choose “online database” from the dropdown menu and press “Create
Citation”
2. At the next screen, choose “reference source” and “next”
3. At the next screen, do not change the first two choices; leave the radio
buttons at the pre-selected choice. For the question, “Information about
the online retrieval of this source”, please select “NO”.
4. Enter the author of the article (if indicated---usually at the end of the
article, or you can click on the MLA citation option to see if an author is
included).
5. Enter the title of the article
6. The British spelling of the database is different from the American English
spelling we use. Please type this in for the name of the database:
Encyclopaedia Britannica Online School Edition
7. Enter 2009 for the copyright date.
8. Click on “cite this article” at the top of the page in the Britannica article;
you will see an entry with the correct URL to paste into the URL box.
9. Leave all other fields empty.
10. Check your citation for MLA style errors; if you get suggested
changes from the wizard, ask your teacher or a librarian for assistance.
11. Generate the citation.
