Speak up within the first 5 minutes or try to be among the first 6 people to talk
As a leader, the minute you open your mouth, people are going to just say yes,
and then you won’t actually hear nuances or other thoughts. You’ll never know
anything but your own point of view. So, try to be the last one to speak.

Pick people you trust and ask them to be in a room together. Walk in and
introduce yourself in a simple hello. Then ask them to rate your performance,
ranging from 1 (a mouse just walked in) to 10 (a lioness just entered)
Then walk in again, choosing a number you want to be. (say 7 – bold,
confident, assertive without being aggressive) but don’t tell your colleagues and
ask them to rate you.
