Peter And Peter In The Gospels Of Matthew And Mark
Peter, one of the most important disciples in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, is portrayed as Jesus
acquaintance and pupil; as well as one of Jesus most important followers. Both of the Gospels seem to
portray Peter in similar ways, yet they draw different images of the disciple. In the Gospel of Matthew,
Peter has a much larger appearance in the teachings of Jesus and becomes more significant to Jesus
throughout the Christian doctrine. However, in Mark, the author portrays Peter as a much lesser
character in the life of Jesus and even leaves Peter out of some of the stories till the end of the book.
Each Gospel portrays a slightly different picture of Peter s personality and role.
Peter is introduced as one of the first followers of Jesus in both Matthew 4:18 and Mark 1:16. Both
passages seem to describe Jesus discussion verbatim. Peter, also known as Simon, was with his
brother and spoke with Jesus. Jesus simply told them, Follow me and I will make you fish for the
people (Matthew 4.19, Mark 1.17). Peter and his brother merely replied, And immediately they left
their nets and followed him (4.20, 1.18). Peter and his brother were fishermen, which could cause
them to either be prosperous or not. This passage portrays Peter and his brother as extremely dedicated
to their Lord from the beginning because each of them abandons ... Show more content on

In other words, what the disciples did not understand; while Matthew focuses on Peter s spiritual
gains, or what the disciples learned. Matthew also portrays Peter in an abrogating way. For instance,
when Jesus asks Peter why he puts forth doubt in his leader in 14:31 Matthew is portraying him as
someone who doubts his leader, who is almighty and powerful. Jesus does not question Peter s faith in
Him in Mark. However, Jesus presents some positive light in Matthew as

Young People Need To Be Done In The World Today
In the world today, there are many things that are needed to be done in the lives of people and in the
environment. This world needs leaders and people who are willing to stand up for things that need to
be done to make this world better. For instance, there are many young people today who are being
influenced in the wrong way, such as smoking, selling drugs, and sex, that is leading them down the
wrong path for their future. Imagine if a team of leaders are engaging with the young people to help
them enjoy life and leading them down the right path to be very successful in the future. As a result,
this would bring tremendous impact to the world on the youth. Even though, this is not the only thing
that needs to be done in the world today, this

The Role Of A Nurse And Social Services
This essay aims to consider the role of a nurse in relation to the care of an elderly patient, this can be
planned using the care planning cycle both whilst in hospital and before discharge. It will also look at
the role social services play when deciding on the patients future care needs. The role of the nurse and
social services can be explained by looking into the bio medical and socio medical models of health.
Good communication is vital when taking care of an elderly patient and this will be discussed within
the communication cycle. It is important to consider the disease processes in old age and how the
support and treatment relates to the care value base and rights of the client along with the NMC code
of conduct and legislation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It made the task of personal care very difficult. Mr Williams still appears disinterested and has not
been eating much at all. However he appears to have struck up a bond with a day time nurse who he is
happy to engage with and seems to trust. Mr Williams has been assigned a Social Worker whose role
is to assess and decide whether he is in a safe position to return home or if it would be beneficial to
him to be placed within a care home.
This essay will discuss all aspects of Mr Williams stay within hospital and his options with regards to
future care beyond discharge.
On admission to hospital a nurse would implement a care plan to help Mr Williams through his time in
hospital. A care plan aims to meet the individual needs of a patient and one highly used approach can
be defined as a person centered. This was first developed by Dr Carl Rogers between the 1940s and
1960s and was considered radical and at the time revolutionary. His theory pushed towards the
individual to seek out and fulfil their own personal potential whilst the therapist would create an
environment where a person would psychologically and physically feel free from any threat, this
would ultimately be achieved by a positive, genuine and empathetic setting created by the therapist.
These ideas have since been transferred to many roles where people are in relationships such as
childcare, teaching and patient care as is the case with Mr

Essay on Wicca Vs. Paganism
Wicca versus Paganism
Wicca and Pagan are two religions, which have many similarities as well as many differences within
each area. Wicca is a sect of Pagan in which each has their own variations on the religion. A good way
to put it; all Wiccans are Pagan, but not all Pagans are Wiccan. Witch is a term used for any
practitioner of Wicca. The Webster s II Dictionary defines witch as 1. A woman who practices sorcery
or is believed to have dealings with the devil, 2. An ugly, vicious old woman; hag. Wicca is described
by the American Heritage Dictionary as the cult of witchcraft. Pagan is the religion under which many
different religions are practiced. Webster s II Dictionary defines pagan as one who does not ... Show

This is used for protection. Both religions have holidays, otherwise known as Sabbats. There are eight
Sabbats, four major and four minor Sabbats. These are Samhain, October 31, the New Year ;, Yule,
December 21, the Winter Solstice, Imbolg, February 1, the welcoming of Spring, Ostara, March 21,
Spring Equinox, Beltane, May 1, Lady Day, Midsummer, June 21, Midsummer Solstice, Lammas,
August 1, Honors Mother Earth s wedding, and Mabon, September 21, Autumn Equinox. The four
major Sabbats are practiced at the beginnings of the month, therefore, the Sabbats practiced during the
mid months are minor. Although the Sabbats are practiced on the same days, the names of the Sabbats
may differ for each religion for example, the pagan name for Imbolg is Imbolc. Each religion uses a
set of elements. These elements are also used to represent the points of the star within the pentacle.
The elements are east, south, west, north, and center or spirit also known as akasha. In both parts of
the religions, there are a basic set four rules; these rules are live, love, learn, and enjoy. The three laws
accompanied within these are seek out wisdom, harm none, and the three fold law of return. Both
religions use the three fold law of return. ; This incorporates that whatever you do, for good or for ill,
shall be returned to you threefold, or three times the amount in which it was issued. It is basically the
natural law of cause and effect.

failed coup d etat, which involved an attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler on the 20th July 1944. For the
purpose of this essay a coup d etat may be interpreted as; a sudden overthrowing of government and
seizure of power by others and assessing the relative importance refers to evaluating the weight of
factors in comparison to one another. In order to assess the relative importance of the reasons for the

However it was Claus von Stauffenberg in particular who gave the plotters a sense of moral purpose
and the enthusiasm needed in order for it to have a chance of success. Stauffenberg was essential to
the plot as he frequently attended the Fuhrers headquarters, the Wolfscchanze (Wolf s Lair) at
Rastenberg, and since it became clear that Hitler s death was the key to the entire plot, he offered to
carry out the assassination attempt himself. Hitler arranged a conference at the Wolfscchanze on 20th
July 1944. The meeting was planned to take place in a wooden hut. Von Stauffenberg arrived with a
briefcase containing a bomb at 10am and after greeting the Fuhrer, he placed the briefcase beneath the
conference table, at which the Fuhrer was present and made an excuse to leave the room. Von
Stauffneberg heard the explosion and was convinced Hitler was dead. Assuming this, he immediately
travelled to Berlin, unaware that an officer had moved the briefcase and in effect saved Hitler s life.

Hills Like White Elephants Iceberg Theory
When reading Hills Like White Elephants for the first time, most people assume it s nothing more
than an informal conversation between a man and his girlfriend while waiting for a train. This is
because Hemingway uses short unclear dialogue, and as a result, people tend to miss out on the
inexplicit drama packed tension between the words being spoken. The way Hemingway is able to
achieve this is by using the iceberg theory . Similar to the way an iceberg shows it s bare tip, but holds
majority of it s ice underneath the water, Hemingway barely lends us what s essential to figure out
what s going on in the story. Due to the lack of realization, readers miss out on the fact that the couple
is debating about whether to go through with an abortion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The American attempts persuading the girl into going through with having the abortion, and the girl
questions the outcome. He begins explaining to her the operation is a very simple and easy and she
asks, But if I do it, then it will be nice again if I say things are like white elephants, and you ll like it?
(Hemingway 213). Even though the words don t say If I have the abortion, will we go back to normal?
, that s exactly what she s trying to ask. She s fishing for reassurance from him, in hopes he d reply
that their relationship will remain the same. When responding, the girl s name is revealed. However,
the American only calls her by her name twice. This is where the American s self control feature plays
a big roll. This is an indicator of how he feels about the situation, whether negative or positive is hard
to tell. He explains he only really care about what she wants to do, If you don t want to you don t have
to. I wouldn t have you do it if you didn t want to (Hemingway 214) but we don t know if he actually
believes what he s saying, or if he s doing this in a selfish way to persuade her for his best interest.
Perhaps it d be better for the both of them if the American let loose with his self control, and actually

College Football Stadium Sponsorship
The discussion of corporate sponsorships for college football stadium naming is a topic that is often
discussed, but not so easily acted upon. There have been various studies constructed to attempt at
understanding the phenomenon of what is the lag of universities partaking in what could be considered
as an opportunity. In literature it is very important to understand all the concepts and issues that take
part in making a decision as such. A current trend found throughout all literature is the perception and
view of the fans. The gap existing within the literature is discovering the actual reason why a
university should or should not partake in such an opportunity. A trend often found is researchers

(merriam Webster) defines a tradition as an inherited, established or customary pattern of thought,
action, or behavior (as a religious practice or a social custom). In relation to these traditions most of
them take place near or at a stadium where you can locate a sense of community. Research has also
shown that social spaces (football stadiums) are prominent in creating unity within a community or
school (Warner: shaping Community on Campus). So yes the traditions and venues and names of these
venues must all contribute to fit in the community. With this in mind traditions can all get lost when a
corporation comes in and decides to name the venue (Boyd 2000). Maintaining traditions have been
shown to be valuable and changing the name of something historic could ruin the prestige of said
facility and result in outrage (Snider, Rysen). A example of this is when the GEO Group, a
multinational corporation that runs prisons, pledged $6 million for the naming rights to Florida
Atlantic Universities stadium. The fans were upset and did not agree and decided to protest. The
university administrators listened to the fans as they expressed their feelings to preserve the history of
Coach Howard whom the field is named after (GEO Group Article). Today the stadium is named FAU
stadium representing the university as a whole. This facility is considered the location where they are
able to establish a sense of community and come together. In other words it is a name and a place that
people can return to and have a homecoming (boyd 2000) The distinctiveness will remain and will

Treatment Of Intravenous Drug Use
Abstract
Intravenous drug use is a dangerous, yet increasing activity around the world. Persons who inject
themselves with illicit drugs are at risk for several complications such as infection caused by
contaminated needles. These infections can be serious and often lead to hospitalization as well as other
health related complications. A situation that often arises is determining the best type of treatment for
IV drug users who are being discharged from the hospital. Physicians and pharmacists are commonly
faced with choosing outpatient IV antibiotic therapy versus oral antibiotics when treating infections
caused by IV drug use. This presents an ethical dilemma, particularly concerning the ethical principles
of beneficence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, the trend in intravenous drug use has increased in recent years. Results from the 2013
National Survey on Drug Use and Health show that of individuals aged 12 or older in America,
current users of cocaine and heroin were approximately 1.5 million and 289,000 respectively
(Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2014). As the number of intravenous
drug users continues to rise, so does the risk of dangerous and potentially fatal complications that are
associated with illicit drug use. In this population, death rates are higher due to overdose, AIDs related
mortality, and other blood borne viruses (Mathers et al., 2013). Mortality rates remain high even
though precautions have been taken to reduce them. According to Lavender McCarron (2013),
Mortality in injecting drug users is up to 22 times higher than for the age adjusted population, despite
increased provision of needle and syringe programs, reduced needle and syringe sharing, and higher
uptake of hepatitis B vaccination (p. 511).
In addition to higher rates of mortality, intravenous drug users are at increased risk of infection. Mertz,
et al. (2008) stated, Malnutrition, immunodeficiency, homelessness, and needle sharing contribute to a
high infection rate in these patients (p. 2). Common infections range from simple cutaneous abscesses
and cellulitis to more serious infections such as

Who Is Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
The film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close written by Eric Roth is centered around the events that
happened on 9/11. The film follows a young boy named Oskar, who lost his beloved father in the
attacks. He finds a key in his father s closet and ventures out into the city to find who it belongs to.
During this adventure Oskar attempts to find closure and shows his true emotions. The title Extremely
Loud and Incredibly Close is used to represent how close Oskar was to finding the owner of the key,
Oskar s relationship with his father, as well as Oskar s emotional state during the film.
Incredibly close is used to describe how close Oskar was to finding what the key he found in his father
s closet belong to. Soon after Oskar finds the key he is in a way forced by his Asperger s syndrome to
find who or what the key belongs to because he cannot handle anything not having an answer. The
envelope he found the key in had the name Black written on it, so Oskar made it his mission to find
every person with the last name Black in New York and go visit them to inquire about key. The first
place Oskar ended up going was to the house of Abby Black, who similar to him was going through a
tough time. He asked her about the key, but she said it was not hers and did not know what it belonged
to. He talks to her in order to comfort her and as he is doing this William Black walks by. This is not

Holocaust Survivors Of The Holocaust
According to the texts and eyewitness accounts, the Holocaust had horrendous effects on the people
who lived through it. During this time Jews were being rounded up and put into concentration camps
by order of the German government. Writings and testimonies from survivors of the Holocaust are

they were treated as less than human , they lost loved ones, and were constantly abused. During the
Holocaust, people in the Nazi s custody were treated as less than human. According to Jakob s Story ,
the Nazi s gave their prisoners little food and only one meal a day. Jakob writes we ate one meal a day

with the Nazis, but tyrannical governments still do this. In short, Nazi prisoners were not treated with
the respect that is due to every human being, and suffered greatly because of it. In conclusion, the
Holocaust had detrimental effects on all that survived. This was because prisoners were treated as less

People are always either judging others or being judged. They act on what they see others do. They
see what they dislike and like in others, and decide on whether to follow or judge. Clarence is a

Maria Edgeworth defines C. Hervey s character as a cliched young man whose intellect and wealth
make rather overbearing. In the selection, C. Hervey s self absorbed character is developed through
judgemental tone, third person limited point of view, and descriptive language.

In the selection, she portrays a descriptive language when describing C. Hervey s character. One
literary element that she uses is diction. She uses words such as chameleon character, imprudent , wild
, and eccentric . By using these words, she is showing us a better picture of Hervey s personality.
Chameleon is a very distinctive and highly specialized lizard. Imprudent is saying that he doesnt care
about the consequences for his actions, which also goes with the word wild. Eccentric means that on
top of everything else, he is also slightly strange. Another literary element that she uses is
juxtaposition. Another example in line 53, Consequently he saw Belinda almost every day, and every
day he saw her with increasing admiration of her beauty, and with increasing dread of being taken in
to marry a niece of the catch match maker , the name by which Mrs. Stanhope was known amongst the

beauty and attracted to her, but yet he has a fear of marrying her. The narrator s descriptive language

Present Wireless Scenario Consists Of Homogeneous Network...
Present wireless scenario consists of homogeneous network and heterogeneous networks. In
homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power level, antenna pattern, receiver
noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But this type of network has disadvantage of coverage
hole. In heterogeneous network the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and femto cells. This
arrangement increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of the network. Whereas
small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage hole and to provide mobility
to the users. Not only this relays can be used to provide backhaul connectivity, where wire line link is
not possible or are expensive to deploy. As determined by the information theoretic capacity limits,
current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a system with one BS achieves near optimal
performance. Researchers are now moving towards more advanced heterogeneous network topology
which will bring the network more closely to the mobile user leading to further capacity gains [46 49].
HetNets will significantly improve the spectral efficiency per unit area by utilizing a diverse set of
BSs. 1.4 Elements of Heterogeneous Network Heterogeneous deployment need to use innovative cell
association and inter celling interference coordination techniques in order to realize the promised
capacity and coverage gains. A typical heterogeneous wireless technology as shown in figure 1.4 has

The Demise Of Prince Hamlet In William Shakespeare s Play
Every tragedy has a hero that succumbs to an internal flaw. Hamlet is no exception to this rule. In this
infamous play by Shakespeare, the main character Prince Hamlet is troubled with the task of avenging
his father s death. He is approached by his father s ghost who tells the story of his deceitful murder.
After he finishes the story, the ghost asks Prince Hamlet to kill his brother and murderer King
Claudius. Prince Hamlet s obsession with the perfect plan for revenge is what ultimately brings about
his demise. This cause for a perfectly seamless plan resulted in stalling the end result of killing King
Claudius and gave the King time to devise a plan of his own. Directly after talking to the ghost of his
father, Prince Hamlet formulates a scheme to murder his uncle. During this time Hamlet seems very
eager to begin with the first steps of avenging his father s death. Once the ghost leaves Hamlet is
talking to himself and he says So, uncle, there you are. Now to my word which indicates a sense of
urgency and desire to fulfill his father s wishes by any means necessary (I.v.111). These emotions only

Russian Revolution Economy
Russian Revolution Economics
Before the Russian Revolution, the economy was a combination of agriculture and industry
(Economy). World War One pushed the economy towards failure (Russian Encyclopedia Britannica).
The Revolution in 1917 was caused by many economic factors . These included rapid
industrialization, supply shortages, and serfdom (Russian New World Encyclopedia). By autumn the
Bolshevik program of peace, land, and bread had won considerable support among the hungry urban
worker and soldiers, who were already deserting from the ranks in large numbers (Russian
Encyclopedia Britannica). The Russian economy before World War One had high rates of economic
growth and rapid industrialization. During this time period, industrial production ... Show more

Media And Political Bias
In this day and age, it s assumed that our information is unfiltered and uncut. This should hardly be a
surprise in the internet era, with popularized search engines that provide unbiased information in a
matter of seconds. To that end, society has numbed itself to biases found in media and tends to follow
what is proclaimed to be true and ethical. This is particularly true in regard to print and televisual
media. Due to society s failure to question these media forms, it frequently becomes coaxed into
converting its ideas to those made by the media. In other words, media outlets consistently have
political leanings that manipulate our understanding of information, particularly in regards to the
public s political beliefs.

In a study produced by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), it was investigated how
the servicing of Fox news influenced presidential votes between 1996 and 2000. The findings
stipulated that towns which began servicing Fox news had an increase in Republican votes in 2000 of
5.9%, while towns that didn t broadcast Fox News had an increase of 7.1% (Vigna and Kaplan, April
2006). This suggests that the political leanings of Fox news influenced voters to abstain from voting
for republican candidates. To put it in other words, the media bias of Fox news influenced the political
leanings of the towns it reached through its bias toward conservative ideologies. Although Fox news is
considered conservative, the effects are undeniable. Even if the effects of Fox news bias are
unexpected, they are undeniable. It is possible that exposure to the Fox conservative agenda prompted
some viewers to analyze and disagree with conservative ideals in general. To be fair, there may have
been other factors that contributed to the change in political bias, including the demographics of towns
that didn t have access to the network. However, it is unlikely that differences in populations
contributed so largely to such a monumental change in consumers voter turnout. Granted, these effects
are the product of only one media outlet; one that promotes a republican belief

Reality And Reality In Tennessee Williams s A Street Care...
The play A street Care Name Desire, explored the various dark sides of the human mind. In the play,
there is a confrontation between fantasy (Blanche) and reality (Stanly). This play also reminded me of
the dark side of the world where left out people with feeble mind lives.
In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, there are many messages that represent reality and fantasy.
Most of them appeared in the two extreme contrasts of the concepts and the implications of the
images. I could see what the director meant to express the theme, through the contrasts and the other
implications. The confrontation between Blanche and Stanley reveals a lot of contrasts throughout the

To analyzing the fantasy world of the protagonist in this play, I need to first look at the personal
background of Tennessee Williams, the playwright of this play. This play can be viewed as a work that
reveals Williams own life. The life of playwright Tennessee Williams also had a similar journey of
Blanche. ?Stanley, an anxious and nervous mother complaining of her husband, sisters suffering from
mental illness, homosexuality, abuse of alcohol and sleeping pills. The film depicts the dramatic life of
playwright In the life of a woman who has a delicate sensibility and lives in a wandering life that can
not adapt to reality, we can get a sense of the life of Tennessee Williams, who has fled into the fantasy
world of literature and art. These aspects can be considered as theatricalization of Williams
autobiography. In the first part of this comedy, Blanche goes to the Elysium where her sister Stella
lives. As soon as they meet, they were very glad to see each other because they are the family.
However, Blanche s attitude toward Stella is a little weird. It seemed that Blanch cannot wait for Stella
to finish speaking. Blanch only talks about herself without giving any break. Her attitude seemed like
an act to hide something in advance. It was like being unable to be questioned. It was not just for
Stella. When she asked, she doesn t give the answer correctly. When Stella s husband Stanley asks
about the Napoleon Law and talks about her property, she tried to slip into the wrong story. After all,
Blanche confirms the documents and confides the facts. She was trying not to reveal her

The War Of The Creek War
American Hitler
Andrew Jackson was the by any means type of American, who had no real concern for the long term
effects of his actions. He would gladly slaughter a tribe of Natives to further U.S. holdings, as a matter
of fact, he did, several in fact. However, although Jackson committed a great deal of such atrocities,
some of which are incredibly well known, he s still viewed as, above all else, a national hero by some
in the present day. Prior to Jackson s presidency, wherein the great majority of well known Jackson
driven atrocities against the Natives occur, Jackson proved to be a monster for the Natives. After the
Creek War, Jackson happily punished the Creeks, whether they be friend or foe. The Creek War was
originally an internal conflict between two subsets of the Creek people, but Jackson saw this as an
opportunity to force the Natives to cede land. Much of the conflict was between the Lower Creeks,
whom Jackson would eventually ally with, and the Upper Creeks, A.K.A. the Red Sticks, who, unlike
the Lower Creeks, were highly opposed to the U.S. encroachment and subsequent assimilation. As
time passed and conflict progressed amidst the Creek people, outside involvement became an integral
part of the war. Militant forces from several southern states amassed forces to combat the Red Sticks.
Jackson himself, on Tennessee s behalf, led a party of approximately 1,000 men along with an
additional contingent of Cherokee warriors. After his, and America s, first

Reverse Discrimination Case Study
In the 1960s, a flurry of laws were enacted pertaining to equal employment opportunities to protect
minorities and eradicate the pervasive discrimination that existed in the work force. Title VII of the
Civil Rights Act of 1964 being the broadest of these laws, prohibited discriminatory hiring practices
based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin (Gomez Mejia, Balkin Cardy, 2016). As a result of
these laws, members of the majority classes have also come to apply for the protection of these laws
as the nontraditional victims in what is known as reverse discrimination. Zachary (2016) explains that
reverse discrimination occurs when an individual who is a member of a non protected class is

Zachary (2016) explains that race, for example, is not supposed to be a factor in employment
decisions or conditions according to Title VII (p.18). In contrast to the protection of no characteristics
such as gender, race, or national origin being considered in employment decisions, the proactive
efforts of affirmative action appear. According to Gomez Mejia, Balkin and Cardy (2016), under
affirmative action government contractors, for example, are required to have plans in place to
eliminate any underutilization of protected group members (p. 174), and therefore, employment
choices are made based on these distinctions, which in reality causes reverse discrimination. One of
the key differences between the U.S. and other countries in its attempt to manage diversity is through
quotas, as many Asian and European countries have embraced (Turner Suflas, 2014). These authors
also relay that albeit U.S. law which declares quotas illegal as stated in Title VII, a new law
established in 2014 via the Federal Contract Compliance Program does in fact establish goals for the

up with Enrico De Seta, where they were living during the postwar recession drawing caricatures of

quickly became a prominent scriptwriter with his most known contribution to Italian cinema as a

Fellini with debts to pay for over a decade and the production company bankrupt (Kezich 114). In
1951 Fellini had his first solo directed feature Lo sceicco bianco, which he got after traveling to Paris
for a script conference with Rossellini. The feature starred Alberto Sordi in a revised version of

script was then reworked with Ennio Flaiano into a light hearted satire about a newlywed couple Ivan

Circumcision, Abortion, And The Procedure Of Genital Cutting
Circumcision, possible for both males and females, implies the procedure of genital cutting. This
process is one of the oldest surgical procedures done in a variety of countries. However, circumcision
can not only be accepted for medical reasons but also tend to appear defining for one s religious,
cultural, as well as social lives. Thus, traditional circumcision is usually undertaken in worse
conditions than the traditional medical one. With recent research, numerous advantages for a
circumcised person s health have been proven. In particular, circumcision is now known to reduce the
risk of becoming infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), reduce the risk of penile
cancer as well as cervical cancer in women. Another medical benefit is the reduced risk of UTI (World
Health Organization, n.d.). Due to these benefits, more parents are opting for circumcision, for the
medical profits of the procedure. In addition, in spite of the found benefits of circumcision, the matter
has caused a range of legal and ethical issues that cannot be neglected. Still, from the overall
perspective, circumcision is known to be a rewarding procedure.
One popular form of circumcision in developing countries is female circumcision, which is also
known as female genital cutting or genital mutilation. This practice is a mostly seen for cultural
reasons in Africa and Asia (Nour, Mann, Falk, 2016). The procedure can appear in two types: excision

Communication Is An Important Part Of A Business
Communication is an important part of a business to work. For a working environment to succeed, a
company s ideas, knowledge, or opinions are useless unless there is effective workplace
communication. Upward communication is the flow of information from frontline employees to
managers, supervisors, and directors. This process differs from the more commonly used method of
downward communication. Both communication processes require individuals to exchange
information with one another with the mindset to influence one s thoughts, behaviors, increase
understanding, and help the organization function smoothly. There are different variables that play a
part in organizational communication and a key factor is listening.
Within an organization, there are various methods of providing and gaining information. As previously
mentioned, upward communication is where employees speak directly to management. This method
allows employee s to participate in the organization. This open door policy keeps managers aware of
how subordinates feel about their job tasks, procedures, and the organization in general. This
communication channel implements a method called serial communication. Serial communication is a
type of upward communication method that passes information consecutively from one person to
another (Aamodt, p. 396). This system is similar to a chain reaction, where a message is given from an
employee to a supervisor till it eventually reaches an executive. Advantages to using

Theme Of Symbolism In Great Expectations
Charles Dickens s Great Expectations contains a lot of symbolism throughout the book, there are
symbols of isolation, manipulation, and people wanting to be something they are not. The names of
the characters in the story Great Expectations symbolize who they are and how they act. These are all
seen in the book through the characters of Estella, Abel Magwitch, Miss Havisham, Pip, and Biddy.
Estella, French for star, implies radiance and exquisiteness like a star, likewise, Dickens s character,
Estella, in Great Expectations is inaccessible and cold like a star, too. Also, like a star, men love to
gaze upon her, but cannot touch her because she has been trained by her adoptive mother, Miss
Havisham, to have no feeling and no empathy for others. She has been taught to be cold and
calculating and to break the heart of any man who makes the mistake of falling in love with her.
Additionally, Estella symbolizes isolation and manipulation; she has been locked away for years in the
impenetrable prison of Miss Havisham s making, far away from the carefree and caring life a young
girl deserves. She teases and manipulates boys and later, men into loving her only become ice cold
and break their hearts. Estella tells Pip, that I have no softness there, no sympathy sentiment nonsense.
(Chapter 29) Estella manipulates Pip as a young boy and plays with his feelings as she leads him on to
make him believe that he has a chance of loving her and being loved in return when she allows

In contrast, Malala s attempt to create social change was far more dangerous. Malala and many other
girls in Pakistan are denied the right to education when the Taliban seize power in the Swat Valley,

very dangerous. The memoir revels the destruction of Pakistan founder, Ali Jinnah s original vision of
a land of tolerance by increasing Islamisation; two military dictatorships ; corrupt politicians, poverty,
illiteracy and the rise of the forces of militancy and extremism exemplified by the Taliban, who was
led by Maulana Fazlullah and the imposition of terror and fear under the guise of sharia law. The
repression of individual freedom made people fearful to speak out. The Taliban had banned women
from going outside without a male relative to accompany (them) and told people stop listening to

Sex in the City by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo Essay

friend. I loved the book so much that I recommended it to and even passed around my copy to help
those who weren t sure as to what was going on in their lives. Yes, I bought the book. I was 14 then.
The book was intended to empower girls to stop waiting for disinterested guys. And it did emancipate
the 14years old me from the unending pain! I realized that if a guy liked me, he would make it obvious
by telling me so, calling me regularly, taking me out, etc. and if he does not do all this, he is not
interested in me. My world was suddenly black and white.

They say so because although it seems that the guy gave the girl the control of the situation, in reality
of the authors world, this means that HE gets to choose whether to pick up her call or not. However on
planet Earth, the girl could have just called to fix a date.
And then there were dodgy suggestions like how a woman should never ever ask a man out because
men are conditioned to lead. The guy could be as unsure of your feelings as you are of his, or he could
be shy! I say WHY NOT ask a man out!
Many women play the martyr in relationships with men who don t treat them well because many
women feel so devoted to their partners that they are afraid of losing them. They sometimes delude
themselves with fantasies about why the partner still loves them despite all the signs pointing
otherwise. This isn t gender specific! Guys are just as delusional as women when in love! They too
would try to save the relationship by playing the martyr .
Real life is not so black and white, and this highly sexist, misogynistic book assumes that it is.
Unluckily, relationships are perilously perched in the grey and that s what makes them hard and
complicated. We are humans after all. We hurt and shape each other all the time. It is unfair to hold
men responsible for initiating all hetero relationships, casual or serious. Men are equally affected by
work pressure, family environment and heartbreaks!

Society Reflection
After this week s reading and videos I learned many new intriguing perspectives about society. Also,
the video taught me a very important lesson about discrimination. I thought the lesson the teacher
taught was unique and got her point across extremely well. She really put people in the shoes of the
less fortunate that are being discriminated. The readings on the first day I found very interesting
because people are the only ones that affect the rapid changes of society. The weeks readings and
videos relate to each other because the way society changes now is how discrimination on skin colors
started and affected millions of lives that could of even took lives away. The first day readings show
that every decision someone makes has affected the changes in society. For example the hippie
movement a group of people started wearing tie dye colors and listening to their type of music. Over
time it caught on and their society significantly changed. The video has some points about this too.
The president s decision to kick the indians out of their taught other americans that they re worthless
and they have the power to discriminate against them with no punishment. Day 2 readings said that we
do things or pay people money even if they don t work all the time. They also pay regular visits to a
holy mouth man in order to protect their teeth despite the pain involved in every visit, and that their
teeth continue to decay anyway. ( Miner Body Ritual among the Nacirema ). This

International Differences Of Well Being
As I continued my research, Ruut Veenhoven stated this question in Chapter 11 of the book
International Differences of Well Being the discussions centers on whether happiness is similar for all
humans or rather something that varies across cultures (328). This question interests me, because it is
a question that I think is very important. We all have a wide range of different priorities and values.
First, he chooses to define happiness: I use the word happiness for a subjective state of mind, which I
define as the overall appreciation of one s life as a whole. Happiness is the sum of pleasures and pains
. Happiness in this sense is synonymous with life satisfaction and subjective well being (Veenhoven
329). Veenhoven, then, breaks up the questions How universal is happiness into sub questions because
it is too broad to answer. Veenhoven says that, although the mood is something we are aware of it is
mostly not in the foreground of our consciousness. It is still assessable, and we can estimate how well
we feel most of the time, unlike babies.
Overall, Veenhoven finds that the circumstances of being happy seem to be the same across the world
and so are the consequences of enjoying life or not (329). Veenhoven s use of surveys and statistics
makes his research believable to his audience. He shows that being happy is not complicated, and
most people know whether they are happy with life or not. I think if we looked at the specifics of what
made us happy,

J. L. Austin s Arguments On Gender And Transformative...
J. L Austin claims that all the statements we make are performative. He thinks that language is not
simply there to describe things we see or we want to say, but the language is itself a performative
utterance. For instance, when we say I apologize , we perform an act or when we get married and say I
do , we perform an act. This means that some words in language do not exist outside of the language
world. So, when we actually say those words that have no meaning outside of the language world, we
already do (perform) something and for that, we do not specifically need gestures or movement.
Therefore, what Butler claims and Austin claims are combined, it is possible to say that gender is itself
a performative act when a woman says I am a

Regular Polygon
Polygon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
For other uses, see Polygon (disambiguation).
Some polygons of different kinds
In geometry a polygon ( /ˈpɒlɪɡɒn/) is a flat shape consisting of straight lines that are joined to form a
closed chain or circuit.
A polygon is traditionally a plane figure that is bounded by a closed path, composed of a finite
sequence of straight line segments (i.e., by a closed polygonal chain). These segments are called its
edges or sides, and the points where two edges meet are the polygon s vertices (singular: vertex) or
corners. An n gon is a polygon with n sides. The interior of the polygon is sometimes called its body.
A polygon is a 2 dimensional example of the more general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The polygon is also equilateral. * Tangential: all sides are tangent to an inscribed circle. * Regular: A
polygon is regular if it is both cyclic and equilateral. A non convex regular polygon is called a regular
star polygon.
Miscellaneous
* Rectilinear: a polygon whose sides meet at right angles, i.e., all its interior angles are 90 or 270
degrees. * Monotone with respect to a given line L, if every line orthogonal to L intersects the polygon
not more than twice.
Properties
Euclidean geometry is assumed throughout.
Angles
Any polygon, regular or irregular, self intersecting or simple, has as many corners as it has sides. Each
corner has several angles. The two most important ones are: * Interior angle The sum of the interior
angles of a simple n gon is (n − 2)π radians or (n − 2)180 degrees. This is because any simple n gon
can be considered to be made up of (n − 2) triangles, each of which has an angle sum of π radians or
180 degrees. The measure of any interior angle of a convex regular n gon is radians or degrees. The
interior angles of regular star polygons were first studied by Poinsot, in the same paper in which he
describes the four regular star polyhedra. * Exterior angle Tracing around a convex n gon, the angle
turned at a corner is the exterior or external angle. Tracing all the way around the polygon makes one
full turn, so the sum of the exterior angles must be

Haitian Culture Research Paper
I am so excited about taking this course not just because I want to enhance my writing skills but also
because I want to know about the Haitian literature in general. This includes, cultural and historical
events, writing masters and everything else that takes part of the Haitian literature that complement
the essence of Haitians culture. I would like to learn all these relevant aspects about Haiti since I do
not know that much of this country. I just know that Haiti is a very poor country where people are very
in need and the government does intervene to improve the quality of lives of its residents, and that
Haitians native languages are creole and French.I would like to know why the governments does not
take action about it. So, in I order to understand the political aspects of the Haitian government, I will
need to know about the history of this country. Its foundation, and all the ideologies and philosophies
that has been involved through the diverse political systems of Haiti. ... Show more content on

I also expect to know about the different Haitians religion practices and its diversity of languages such
as, creole, French, English, and Spanish. I know that most of wealthy Haitians manage fluently
English, French and Spanish, because they have the opportunity of getting educated in high class
colleges. I had a rich Haitian friend that told me about this fact. I remember, he used to help me to do

investor , programmer and role model. William Henry Gates used to be the chief executive and
chairman one of the world s most successful personal computer software company, Microsoft which
he co founded with Paul Allen. William Henry Gates was also consistently ranked by Forbes magazine

Washington. His father, William H. Gates, was a prominent lawyer and his mother , Mary Maxwell
Gates, served on the board of directors for First Interstate Bancsystem and the United Way. When he
was younger his family strongly encouraged competition and one visitor noted that regardless of what
the game or sport was there was always a reward for winning and a penalty for loosing, which could
have developed Bill Gates all or nothing attitude. At the age of 13 his parents enrolled him in the
Lakeside School which was a highly exclusive and expensive private school. A year later When he

Analysis Of Unwind
Unwind Message
Many people will go through experiences in their lives where they feel like they are changing. It is as
if life has dealt them enough experiences that their personalities have been altered because of it.
Unwind by Neal Shusterman shows how the past experiences people go through may dictate who they
become and the decisions they may make in the future through the lives of Roland, Admiral Dunfee,
and Lev.
Throughout the novel, Roland is portrayed as an aggressive young man who has the desire to fight
anyone who gets in his way. Yet as the readers soon discover, he is a young man with a very troubled
past. Roland s past shapes who he becomes today in that he is very distrusting of women due to the
experiences he has gone through. As Connor finds out in the basement of the antique shop, Roland s
mother essentially abandoned him for her husband. As the novel states, That s not what did him in,
though. Roland had beaten up his stepfather for beating his mom. The mother took her husband s side,
and the stepfather got off with a warning. Roland, on the other hand, was sent to be unwound
(Schusterman 99). After Roland s mother abandoned him for his stepfather, he began to fight other
individuals in order to gain power. Another example of Roland s distrust for women comes at the very
end of the novel when he is being unwound and he is recalling memories from his past. Roland
recalls, When I was three, I had a babysitter. She was beautiful. She shook my sister. Real hard. My
sister got wrong. Never got right again. Beautiful is dangerous. Better get them first (Schusterman
293). After this experience, Roland is likely to never trust women, or other beautiful people, again. For
him to experience both his mother s abandonment and his sister s injuries at the hand of the babysitter,
Roland chooses not to trust women again, resulting in his poor treatment of Risa, and the other
females he comes in contact with.
Admiral Dunfee, similarly, is affected by his past. When the novel first introduces the Admiral, he is
portrayed as a cold hearted dictator in charge of hundreds of Unwinds, but there is a reason the
Admiral comes off as distant. When the Unwinds first arrive at The Graveyard, they are expected to

Clinton s Assault Rifle Ban
Clinton s assault rifle ban in the nineties. Some may argue that this violates Second Amendment
rights, since it eliminates some choice in magazines for firearms. However, no federal judge has ruled
that the New York ban is unconstitutional, so a national version of the NY SAFE act should be
constitutional as well.
The Gun Show Loophole With the current gun control regulations in America, all federally licensed
dealers must run background checks on their transactions. However, not all sellers have to be licensed,
including those who sell at gun shows (Sherman, 2016). This creates what Democrats refer to as the
Gun Show Loophole, where people who would be denied the purchase of a gun due to a federal
background check are able to acquire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
99). This analysis assumes that all crime guns purchased at gun shows would have failed a proper
background check, although this is not true in reality. With that assumption, closing the gun show
loophole would prevent 1,394 assault by firearm related injuries, and save over $4 billion each year. It
is unclear as to whether or not the statistic on crime guns coming from gun shows remains at two
percent now, it being twenty years later. Though the $4 billion benefit for the $850 million cost sounds
promising, these numbers have the highest margins of error out of the three options, simply because of
the lack of data. A supermajority of Americans favor making private gun sales and sales at gun shows
subject to background checks, with 80% of republicans and 83% of democrats supporting the idea
(Pew Research Center, 2013). However, only 57% supported Senate measures to do so back in 2013,
citing that the bills included restrictions beyond background checks, and opened a slippery slope
towards more government power, (Pew Research Center, 2013). Any bill that aims to close the gun
show loophole would have to do just that, and nothing more. Extending its reach any farther than that
would not garner the same supermajority of support that we found with this relatively simple
alternative. Therefore, this policy leaves gun owners with a high amount of liberty, since there will be

The United States Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station
Percival Lowell came to Flagstaff in 1894, Arizona was still a territory, and Flagstaff had a population
of less than 1,000 people (Putnam). In 1930, Flagstaff was put on the map with the discovery of Pluto,
using Lowell s calculations, and became the first planet discovered outside of Europe. People flocked
to the up and coming science based town, revitalizing the population to 8,000 by 1955. As the
population boom was upon this quiet wooded town, the U.S. Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station was
established, as was the U.S Geological Survey in 1963. With more observatories being built and the
advancement of the natural sciences, the need for the preservation of dark skies in Flagstaff became
apparent (Flagstaff s). The first upward battle in the establishment of dark skies that Flagstaff faced
was in 1958. A new telescope was set to be built, but because of the increase in light pollution that was
creeping up Mars Hill, the Anti searchlight law went into effect. The Anti searchlight law allowed
officers to fine individuals $300 when in possession of a searchlight, or receive 90 days in jail. By
June 1972, Tucson had adopted Arizona s second lighting law all lights had to be pointed downward
and Pima County developed a similar law soon after. The City of Flagstaff was next to follow suit
(Putnam). Light from Flagstaff s growing city continued to prove difficult for astronomers. In 1980,
most of Lowell s research work and discoveries were made on top of

How Did The Great Awakening Impact On Colonial Society
The movement of the Enlightenment period and the Great Awakening period had a profound impact
on American colonial society. As a result, the Enlightenment movement and the Great Awakening
movement challenged and changed religious, secular, and education ideologies that ushered in a new
era in American colonial society while giving birth to a social and religious renaissance in the
American colonies. The Enlightenment movement was a social movement that placed a highly
valuable emphasis on one s capacity for reasoning, and regarded it as the pinnacle of human success.
Significantly, the Enlightenment movement instigated both harmony and resistance amongst the
religious community; thus, giving rise to prominent religious leaders and spiritual thinkers who
espoused their views on the subject. Notably, the most famous Enlightenment thinkers were Benjamin
franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Paine. However, religious leaders such as Cotton Mayer,
John Winthrop, William Bradford, and Edward Johnson also espoused ideas on the centrality of God

The Great awakening inspired the growth of the church community branching off into sects to meet
the ever expanding colonial population; thus, increasing the number of churches in colonial america.
Likewise, paving the way for the emergence of lower churches such as the Baptist who sought to
overturn aristocratic rule. Also, this impacted the increased development of colleges to meet the
demand of having to train new ministers in the ministry. Additionally, the Great awakening made
allowances for Enlightenment idealism in conjunction with religion. Furthermore, the Great
Awakening was considered to be the precursor to the American Revolution as it severed its religious
ties to the Church of England; thus, a declination of religious authority and its long standing

Purgative medicines are cheap in cost but children dislike the taste because of its bitterness. The
researchers came up with this project due to the desire of helping the parents of infected children in
convincing their kids to take good tasting purgative remedy that is cheaper in cost and can be done at
home. The researchers found out that pounded and boiled akapulko seeds are used as an effective
purgative agent. Akapulko is an herbal plant that can be used in curing skin, stomach, lung, and mouth
problems, and is well known for its sudorific, diuretic and purgative characteristics. It can be ingested
without having any side effect or contraindications. The researchers thought of pulvoron, being a
healthy, delicious, and attractive treat for all. The akapulko seeds were consider as extender in place of
the traditional rice crisps, nuts, or nougats in the pulvoron. Established that akapulvoron could be an
effective and safe purgative treat, the researchers intended to conduct a sensory analysis of the product
to determine if it would be generally accepted by the public. 15 comments: Links to this post Email

Pasteurization Is Not Sterilization Essay
1. Explain, in detail, the meaning of the following statement. Pasteurization is not sterilization
These two method of microbial control are used for different purpose, while sterilization is used to
keep instruments, equipment, materials and objects free from harmful microorganisms, viruses and
bacterial endospores, pasteurization is used keep food and beverages from spoiling by killing
pathogens and reducing the number of spoilage microorganism. During the pasteurization of food
products, not all microorganism is destroyed, thermoduric and thermophilic prokaryotes can survive.
However, they do not represent a health risk for consumers because theses prokaryotes are not
commonly pathogenic. Also, pasteurized foods are refrigerated right away and stored until
consumption. 2. Describe at least two methods of microbial control in depth and give examples of
their uses (use the unit 7 PowerPoint as guidance)

To sterilize items, they must be immersed in a solution for the required time specified by the
manufacturer to be sporicidal. All chemical solutions have pros and cons. These chemicals are:
peracetic acid, glutaraldehyde, and formaldehyde.
B) Disinfection is a less lethal process than sterilization and is intended to kill disease producing
microorganism but not bacterial endospores. A chemical that kills microorganism but not spore is
called a disinfectant. Several types of disinfectant are available:
Phenol and phenolics: They are intermediate to low level disinfectant. They work by denaturing
proteins and disrupting the cell membranes of microorganisms. They are used in healthcare settings,
but they have disagreeable odor and may cause skin irritation in some patients. EX. Carbolic

  • 2. Peter And Peter In The Gospels Of Matthew And Mark Peter, one of the most important disciples in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, is portrayed as Jesus acquaintance and pupil; as well as one of Jesus most important followers. Both of the Gospels seem to portray Peter in similar ways, yet they draw different images of the disciple. In the Gospel of Matthew, Peter has a much larger appearance in the teachings of Jesus and becomes more significant to Jesus throughout the Christian doctrine. However, in Mark, the author portrays Peter as a much lesser character in the life of Jesus and even leaves Peter out of some of the stories till the end of the book. Each Gospel portrays a slightly different picture of Peter s personality and role. Peter is introduced as one of the first followers of Jesus in both Matthew 4:18 and Mark 1:16. Both passages seem to describe Jesus discussion verbatim. Peter, also known as Simon, was with his brother and spoke with Jesus. Jesus simply told them, Follow me and I will make you fish for the people (Matthew 4.19, Mark 1.17). Peter and his brother merely replied, And immediately they left their nets and followed him (4.20, 1.18). Peter and his brother were fishermen, which could cause them to either be prosperous or not. This was first developed by Dr Carl Rogers between the 1940s and 1960s and was considered radical and at the time revolutionary. His theory pushed towards the individual to seek out and fulfil their own personal potential whilst the therapist would create an environment where a person would psychologically and physically feel free from any threat, this would ultimately be achieved by a positive, genuine and empathetic setting created by the therapist. Research has also shown that social spaces (football stadiums) are prominent in creating unity within a community or school (Warner: shaping Community on Campus). So yes the traditions and venues and names of these venues must all contribute to fit in the community. With this in mind traditions can all get lost when a corporation comes in and decides to name the venue (Boyd 2000). In homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power level, antenna pattern, receiver noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But this type of network has disadvantage of coverage hole. In heterogeneous network the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and femto cells. This arrangement increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of the network. Whereas small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage hole and to provide mobility to the users. Not only this relays can be used to provide backhaul connectivity, where wire line link is not possible or are expensive to deploy. As determined by the information theoretic capacity limits, current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a system with one BS achieves near optimal performance. • 21. Media And Political Bias In this day and age, it s assumed that our information is unfiltered and uncut. This should hardly be a surprise in the internet era, with popularized search engines that provide unbiased information in a matter of seconds. To that end, society has numbed itself to biases found in media and tends to follow what is proclaimed to be true and ethical. This is particularly true in regard to print and televisual media. Due to society s failure to question these media forms, it frequently becomes coaxed into converting its ideas to those made by the media. In other words, media outlets consistently have political leanings that manipulate our understanding of information, particularly in regards to the public s political beliefs. The concept of news ... In a study produced by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), it was investigated how the servicing of Fox news influenced presidential votes between 1996 and 2000. The findings stipulated that towns which began servicing Fox news had an increase in Republican votes in 2000 of 5.9%, while towns that didn t broadcast Fox News had an increase of 7.1% (Vigna and Kaplan, April 2006). This suggests that the political leanings of Fox news influenced voters to abstain from voting for republican candidates. To put it in other words, the media bias of Fox news influenced the political leanings of the towns it reached through its bias toward conservative ideologies. Although Fox news is considered conservative, the effects are undeniable. Even if the effects of Fox news bias are unexpected, they are undeniable. It is possible that exposure to the Fox conservative agenda prompted some viewers to analyze and disagree with conservative ideals in general. To be fair, there may have been other factors that contributed to the change in political bias, including the demographics of towns that didn t have access to the network. However, it is unlikely that differences in populations contributed so largely to such a monumental change in consumers voter turnout. The film depicts the dramatic life of playwright In the life of a woman who has a delicate sensibility and lives in a wandering life that can not adapt to reality, we can get a sense of the life of Tennessee Williams, who has fled into the fantasy world of literature and art. These aspects can be considered as theatricalization of Williams autobiography. In the first part of this comedy, Blanche goes to the Elysium where her sister Stella lives. As soon as they meet, they were very glad to see each other because they are the family. However, Blanche s attitude toward Stella is a little weird. It seemed that Blanch cannot wait for Stella to finish speaking. Blanch only talks about herself without giving any break. Her attitude seemed like an act to hide something in advance. He would gladly slaughter a tribe of Natives to further U.S. holdings, as a matter of fact, he did, several in fact. However, although Jackson committed a great deal of such atrocities, some of which are incredibly well known, he s still viewed as, above all else, a national hero by some in the present day. Prior to Jackson s presidency, wherein the great majority of well known Jackson driven atrocities against the Natives occur, Jackson proved to be a monster for the Natives. After the Creek War, Jackson happily punished the Creeks, whether they be friend or foe. The Creek War was originally an internal conflict between two subsets of the Creek people, but Jackson saw this as an opportunity to force the Natives to cede land. Much of the conflict was between the Lower Creeks, whom Jackson would eventually ally with, and the Upper Creeks, A.K.A. the Red Sticks, who, unlike the Lower Creeks, were highly opposed to the U.S. encroachment and subsequent assimilation. As time passed and conflict progressed amidst the Creek people, outside involvement became an integral part of the war. Militant forces from several southern states amassed forces to combat the Red Sticks. Jackson himself, on Tennessee s behalf, led a party of approximately 1,000 men along with an additional contingent of Cherokee warriors. After his, and America s, first ... Upward communication is the flow of information from frontline employees to managers, supervisors, and directors. This process differs from the more commonly used method of downward communication. Both communication processes require individuals to exchange information with one another with the mindset to influence one s thoughts, behaviors, increase understanding, and help the organization function smoothly. Theme Of Symbolism In Great Expectations Charles Dickens s Great Expectations contains a lot of symbolism throughout the book, there are symbols of isolation, manipulation, and people wanting to be something they are not. The names of the characters in the story Great Expectations symbolize who they are and how they act. These are all seen in the book through the characters of Estella, Abel Magwitch, Miss Havisham, Pip, and Biddy. Estella, French for star, implies radiance and exquisiteness like a star, likewise, Dickens s character, Estella, in Great Expectations is inaccessible and cold like a star, too. Also, like a star, men love to gaze upon her, but cannot touch her because she has been trained by her adoptive mother, Miss Havisham, to have no feeling and no empathy for others. She has been taught to be cold and calculating and to break the heart of any man who makes the mistake of falling in love with her. Additionally, Estella symbolizes isolation and manipulation; she has been locked away for years in the impenetrable prison of Miss Havisham s making, far away from the carefree and caring life a young girl deserves. She teases and manipulates boys and later, men into loving her only become ice cold and break their hearts. Estella tells Pip, that I have no softness there, no sympathy sentiment nonsense. I thought the lesson the teacher taught was unique and got her point across extremely well. She really put people in the shoes of the less fortunate that are being discriminated. The readings on the first day I found very interesting because people are the only ones that affect the rapid changes of society. The weeks readings and videos relate to each other because the way society changes now is how discrimination on skin colors started and affected millions of lives that could of even took lives away. The first day readings show that every decision someone makes has affected the changes in society. The video has some points about this too. The president s decision to kick the indians out of their taught other americans that they re worthless and they have the power to discriminate against them with no punishment. International Differences Of Well Being As I continued my research, Ruut Veenhoven stated this question in Chapter 11 of the book International Differences of Well Being the discussions centers on whether happiness is similar for all humans or rather something that varies across cultures (328). This question interests me, because it is a question that I think is very important. We all have a wide range of different priorities and values. First, he chooses to define happiness: I use the word happiness for a subjective state of mind, which I define as the overall appreciation of one s life as a whole. Happiness is the sum of pleasures and pains . Happiness in this sense is synonymous with life satisfaction and subjective well being (Veenhoven 329). Veenhoven, then, breaks up the questions How universal is happiness into sub questions because it is too broad to answer. Veenhoven says that, although the mood is something we are aware of it is mostly not in the foreground of our consciousness. It is still assessable, and we can estimate how well we feel most of the time, unlike babies. Overall, Veenhoven finds that the circumstances of being happy seem to be the same across the world and so are the consequences of enjoying life or not (329). Veenhoven s use of surveys and statistics makes his research believable to his audience. He shows that being happy is not complicated, and most people know whether they are happy with life or not. He thinks that language is not simply there to describe things we see or we want to say, but the language is itself a performative utterance. For instance, when we say I apologize , we perform an act or when we get married and say I do , we perform an act. This means that some words in language do not exist outside of the language world. So, when we actually say those words that have no meaning outside of the language world, we already do (perform) something and for that, we do not specifically need gestures or movement. Therefore, what Butler claims and Austin claims are combined, it is possible to say that gender is itself a performative act when a woman says I am a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some polygons of different kinds In geometry a polygon ( /ˈpɒlɪɡɒn/) is a flat shape consisting of straight lines that are joined to form a closed chain or circuit. A polygon is traditionally a plane figure that is bounded by a closed path, composed of a finite sequence of straight line segments (i.e., by a closed polygonal chain). These segments are called its edges or sides, and the points where two edges meet are the polygon s vertices (singular: vertex) or corners. An n gon is a polygon with n sides. Properties Euclidean geometry is assumed throughout. Angles Any polygon, regular or irregular, self intersecting or simple, has as many corners as it has sides. Each corner has several angles. The two most important ones are: * Interior angle The sum of the interior angles of a simple n gon is (n − 2)π radians or (n − 2)180 degrees. This is because any simple n gon can be considered to be made up of (n − 2) triangles, each of which has an angle sum of π radians or 180 degrees. The measure of any interior angle of a convex regular n gon is radians or degrees. The interior angles of regular star polygons were first studied by Poinsot, in the same paper in which he describes the four regular star polyhedra. * Exterior angle Tracing around a convex n gon, the angle turned at a corner is the exterior or external angle. Tracing all the way around the polygon makes one full turn, so the sum of the exterior angles must be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Analysis Of Unwind Unwind Message Many people will go through experiences in their lives where they feel like they are changing. It is as if life has dealt them enough experiences that their personalities have been altered because of it. Unwind by Neal Shusterman shows how the past experiences people go through may dictate who they become and the decisions they may make in the future through the lives of Roland, Admiral Dunfee, and Lev. Throughout the novel, Roland is portrayed as an aggressive young man who has the desire to fight anyone who gets in his way. Yet as the readers soon discover, he is a young man with a very troubled past. Roland s past shapes who he becomes today in that he is very distrusting of women due to the experiences he has gone through. As Connor finds out in the basement of the antique shop, Roland s mother essentially abandoned him for her husband. As the novel states, That s not what did him in, though. Roland had beaten up his stepfather for beating his mom. The mother took her husband s side, and the stepfather got off with a warning. Roland, on the other hand, was sent to be unwound (Schusterman 99). After Roland s mother abandoned him for his stepfather, he began to fight other individuals in order to gain power. Another example of Roland s distrust for women comes at the very end of the novel when he is being unwound and he is recalling memories from his past. Roland recalls, When I was three, I had a babysitter. She was beautiful. She shook my sister. Real hard. My sister got wrong. Never got right again. Beautiful is dangerous. Better get them first (Schusterman 293). After this experience, Roland is likely to never trust women, or other beautiful people, again. For him to experience both his mother s abandonment and his sister s injuries at the hand of the babysitter, Roland chooses not to trust women again, resulting in his poor treatment of Risa, and the other females he comes in contact with. Admiral Dunfee, similarly, is affected by his past. When the novel first introduces the Admiral, he is portrayed as a cold hearted dictator in charge of hundreds of Unwinds, but there is a reason the Admiral comes off as distant. When the Unwinds first arrive at The Graveyard, they are expected to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Clinton s Assault Rifle Ban Clinton s assault rifle ban in the nineties. Some may argue that this violates Second Amendment rights, since it eliminates some choice in magazines for firearms. However, no federal judge has ruled that the New York ban is unconstitutional, so a national version of the NY SAFE act should be constitutional as well. The Gun Show Loophole With the current gun control regulations in America, all federally licensed dealers must run background checks on their transactions. However, not all sellers have to be licensed, including those who sell at gun shows (Sherman, 2016). This creates what Democrats refer to as the Gun Show Loophole, where people who would be denied the purchase of a gun due to a federal background check are able to acquire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 99). This analysis assumes that all crime guns purchased at gun shows would have failed a proper background check, although this is not true in reality. With that assumption, closing the gun show loophole would prevent 1,394 assault by firearm related injuries, and save over $4 billion each year. It is unclear as to whether or not the statistic on crime guns coming from gun shows remains at two percent now, it being twenty years later. Though the $4 billion benefit for the $850 million cost sounds promising, these numbers have the highest margins of error out of the three options, simply because of the lack of data. A supermajority of Americans favor making private gun sales and sales at gun shows subject to background checks, with 80% of republicans and 83% of democrats supporting the idea (Pew Research Center, 2013). However, only 57% supported Senate measures to do so back in 2013, citing that the bills included restrictions beyond background checks, and opened a slippery slope towards more government power, (Pew Research Center, 2013). Any bill that aims to close the gun show loophole would have to do just that, and nothing more. Extending its reach any farther than that would not garner the same supermajority of support that we found with this relatively simple alternative. Therefore, this policy leaves gun owners with a high amount of liberty, since there will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The United States Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station Percival Lowell came to Flagstaff in 1894, Arizona was still a territory, and Flagstaff had a population of less than 1,000 people (Putnam). In 1930, Flagstaff was put on the map with the discovery of Pluto, using Lowell s calculations, and became the first planet discovered outside of Europe. People flocked to the up and coming science based town, revitalizing the population to 8,000 by 1955. As the population boom was upon this quiet wooded town, the U.S. Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station was established, as was the U.S Geological Survey in 1963. With more observatories being built and the advancement of the natural sciences, the need for the preservation of dark skies in Flagstaff became apparent (Flagstaff s). The first upward battle in the establishment of dark skies that Flagstaff faced was in 1958. A new telescope was set to be built, but because of the increase in light pollution that was creeping up Mars Hill, the Anti searchlight law went into effect. The Anti searchlight law allowed officers to fine individuals $300 when in possession of a searchlight, or receive 90 days in jail. By June 1972, Tucson had adopted Arizona s second lighting law all lights had to be pointed downward and Pima County developed a similar law soon after. The City of Flagstaff was next to follow suit (Putnam). Light from Flagstaff s growing city continued to prove difficult for astronomers. In 1980, most of Lowell s research work and discoveries were made on top of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. How Did The Great Awakening Impact On Colonial Society The movement of the Enlightenment period and the Great Awakening period had a profound impact on American colonial society. As a result, the Enlightenment movement and the Great Awakening movement challenged and changed religious, secular, and education ideologies that ushered in a new era in American colonial society while giving birth to a social and religious renaissance in the American colonies. The Enlightenment movement was a social movement that placed a highly valuable emphasis on one s capacity for reasoning, and regarded it as the pinnacle of human success. Significantly, the Enlightenment movement instigated both harmony and resistance amongst the religious community; thus, giving rise to prominent religious leaders and spiritual thinkers who espoused their views on the subject. Pasteurization is not sterilization These two method of microbial control are used for different purpose, while sterilization is used to keep instruments, equipment, materials and objects free from harmful microorganisms, viruses and bacterial endospores, pasteurization is used keep food and beverages from spoiling by killing pathogens and reducing the number of spoilage microorganism. During the pasteurization of food products, not all microorganism is destroyed, thermoduric and thermophilic prokaryotes can survive.
