A Sorrowful Woman Theme
The short story, A Sorrowful Woman is a story with a very accurate title. This story is about a
woman who grows tired of being a wife and a mother and in a sense, abandons her husband and
son by staying locked up in the bedroom while they are home. She rarely comes out and has little
interaction with her son. She has some good days where she will spend time with the son but it is
often ended because the son does something she does not like. The main theme of this short story is
companionship as salvation which is demonstrated throughout the whole story primarily through
the husbands continuous effort to help his wifein any way that he can. Not only is salvation through
companionship shown through the companionship of the husband and... Show more content on

Along with the use of repetition in the story, Godwin s use of characterization helps further
develop the overall theme of the story as well. Godwin presents several examples of companionship
which ends up saving the mother in the end. For example, as far as one can interpret from the
information given to us in this story, the son accepts the fact that he can t always get to see his
mother and be with her. One can make this assumption because the husband would tell the wife that
he and the boy understood her current situation. The son not giving up on his mother and
understanding and respecting his mother s wishes when it came to her not wanting to see him is
important for the woman because she does things throughout the story that lets the reader know
that she still loves the boy and the father. At the very end of the story boy says, She s tired from
doing all our things again which shows the reader that the son is aware that the mother has not
been the mother she once was to him. (Godwin, 42). The companionship between the father and
son could be seen as salvation because since the mother could not take care of the son as a mother
should, the father had to step into a large role and care for the son himself before

Research Paper On Drunk Driving

Driving under the influence
Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one or two
drinks, people should think about the severe consequences that come from driving under the
influence. Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated drivers. There are ways of avoiding
these life changing risks. Appointing a designated driver before drinking or calling an uber is a
smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable
circumstances.
There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015, 10,265 people
died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic
related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving). These crashes are not only harmful, but
can also be very expensive. People who drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs
that will be incurred if pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as
being involved in an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199 billion
per year (Snyder). This includes the expense of road clean up, medical services, court cases,
insurance and much more. These costs are leading indicators of how extensive and severe drunk
driving is making a devastating financial impact on the American economy.
Drunk drivers tend to be young when caught driving under the

Sinclair s Life In The Jungle, By Upton Sinclair
Upton Sinclair started his young life being born in Baltimore, Maryland September 20th, 1878 (
https://www.biography.com ). Upton was an only child to an alcoholic salesman and a very
strong willed stay at home mother. They lived in a small house in Baltimore living in poverty.
At the age of 10, Upton s father decided to move the family to New York. Upton already started
reading famous works from Shakespeare and more and started to get a step into push into his
future career ( https://www.biography.com ). Upton first started writing and selling stories at the
age of 14 at his college in New York. After the age of 20, Upton decided to become a full fledged
writer and no one was going to stop him. Upton Sinclairwas motivated to write the story The Jungle
by his political motivations ( https://www.biography.com ). The story The Jungle is well known
and considered to be his most successful story. Upton, as a child made judgements and opinions of
the wealthy and that grew into his socialism thoughts. In 1903 his work sent Upton to Chicago to
investigate reported mistreatment of employees at the meatpacking facilities ( https://www.ssa.gov ).
After spending weeks undercover as a meatpacking worker, Upton gathered enough evidence to
write his manuscript that later became The Jungle . Upton s main motivation of writing the
manuscript was to describe the cruelty of workers but he used his creativity to describe the cruelty
of animals that he witnessed and how unsanitary the

Effects Of Artificial Gravity
Artificial gravity is an application of force, resulting from acceleration, that creates a sense of
gravity. It is often used in space to counteract the effects of weightlessness in astronauts.
Artificial gravity can be created in many ways; for example, centripetal force, a force that makes
a body follow a curved path, can cause artificial gravity. If a spaceship was to rotate from its
center, the force of rotation would push the astronaut in the opposite direction, causing the
astronaut to experience an outwards force similar to gravity on Earth. The gravity can be
calculated by using the radius between the center of rotation to the astronaut. The larger the
radius, the larger the force, or artificial gravity, the astronaut would experience. Think of it as
spinning on one of the spinning seats often found on playgrounds. The farther you lean your
body out of the seat (increasing your radius from the center), the larger force you feel and the
more likely you are to fly off. In addition, there are many reasons why astronauts need the sense
of artificial gravity. The main reason would be the person s health. Humans have evolved to live
on the earth, with a presence of gravity; once that presence is gone, the human body can
experience several different effects. For example, muscle and skeleton deterioration can occur.
When floating in space, an astronaut does not use their body s muscles like on earth; they don t put
the same stresses on their back muscles, or their knee

Ketamine Essay
Introduction
Chronic intake, the delayed onset of action, drug resistance and numerous side effects force the
researchers to look for the new, safe antidepressant strategies (1, 2) with rapid onset and longer time
of action.
Results obtained in the recent years give some hope that ketamine which is a global NMDAR
antagonist could be the fast and long acting novel antidepressant. Antidepressant like activity of
ketamine was shown in many preclinical studies (1 7). The single non anesthetic dose of ketamine
reversed symptoms of major depression (MDD) in clinical conditions (8). These antidepressant
effects of ketamine also occurred in patients who suffered from resistant depression or suicidal
ideations (9 12). Despite a successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the molecular level of explanation these processes are dependent on the interplay between
glutamate receptors, Ca2+ channels, the increase of intracellular Ca2+ levels, Ca2+ dependent
proteins like Akt, ERK, mTOR and neurotrophins such as brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)
(24, 25).
Because Ca2+ is the central point for all mentioned processes, we focused our interests on
hyperforin which is Ca2+ modulator. Hyperforin is the natural and biologically active compound
extracted from Hypericum Perforatum (St John Wort) (26). The St John Wort extract and
hyperforin attenuated symptoms of mild to moderate depression in a few clinical trials. Both
extract and hyperforin displayed antidepressant like activity in preclinical studies (27, 28).
From molecular perspective, hyperforin has multidirectional mechanisms of action. It acts on
ligand gated (GABA, NMDA and AMPA receptors) (29, 30) and voltage gated channels (Ca2+,
K+, and Na+) (29, 31). In contrast to blockade of ion transport through the plasma membrane,
hyperforin can increased an inward Ca2+ current. These processes are dose dependent and
probably involved a few different cellular events. In the details, hyperforin in in vitro studies
increased the Ca2+ intracellular level by activation of the non selective canonical transient receptor
potential 6 channels (TRPC6) or by the releasing Ca2+ from mitochondria (32 34). As has been
previously shown hyperforin activates intracellular

Case Study The Vla And Its Mobile Sticker Propaganda
The solution to this problem, the VLA and its mobile sticker propaganda, is to educate parents with
infants and children on the safety of childhood vaccines. By creating a non profit organization that
educates, promotes, fundraises and campaigns vaccines as safe and effective is the best solution to
end the anti vaccinewar. Using data and statistics collected from case studies on vaccine
preventable disease outbreaks, parents can then make an informed decision on vaccinating their
child. This non profit campaign will effectively work if presented in the right setting. An
appropriate approach would be recruiting volunteers to campaign outside of places that parents and
their children often go such as, pediatrician s offices, grocery stores,

Wishes In The Raven
A wish is a hope or desire for something. Fictionally, wishes can be used as plot devices. In
folklore, opportunities for making a wish or for wishes to come true or be granted are themes that
are sometimes used.
In literature
In fiction a wish is a supernatural demand placed on the recipient s unlimited request. When it is the
center of a tale, the wish is usually a template for a morality tale, be careful what you wish for ; it
can also be a small part of a tale, in which case it is often used as a plot device. One can wish on
many things for example: wishing wells, dandelions when one blows the seeds or light them on
fire, stars and much more. When one wishes in a well he or she throws money in, in the hope his
or her wish comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some wishes appear to be granted by nothing in particular. Snow White s mother s wish for a
beautiful child might have been a coincidence, but the father s wish in The Seven Ravens
transforms his seven sons into ravens, just as the mother s wish in The Raven transforms her
daughter. This is common in a tale involving a person, male or female, wishing for a child, even
one that is a hedgehog, or a sprig of myrtle, or no bigger than a hazel nut.
The number of wishes granted varies. Aladdin had an unlimited number in the original story, but
was restricted to three wishes in the 1992 Disney film. As in the Charles Perrault tale The
Ridiculous Wishes, three is the most common, but others may be granted to fit the constraints of
the tale. Several authors have spun variations of the wish for more wishes theme, though some
disallow this as cheating. In many stories the wording of the wish is extremely important. For
example, characters often say, I wish I was wealthy. This wording could be taken literally, the wish
granted so that at one time the wisher was wealthy but is not any more. Saying, I wish to be
wealthy , then because to

The Color Purple And Ovid s Metamorphoses
In the heart breaking novel The Color Purple by Alice Walker, we read about the protagonist and
narrator, Celie who is a victim of rape and abuse. She is caught in this vicious patriarchal society
where women have no voice. In this novel we see many similarities to Ovid s archetypal rape
narrative. I will discuss the similarities in full detail and explain how the men in the female
protagonists lives hurt and betrayed them. I will be looking at the book The Color Purpleas well as
Ovid s Metamorphoses.
When looking at The Color Purple we read about Celie s tragic life, and you feel her pain and
suffering by just reading the words on the page. Her father beats and rapes her and by the looks
of things, it seems that she is forever doomed with eternal heartache, abuse and rape. It seems that
she will never be happy. She is controlled and manipulated by the men in her life that she should be
able to trust. Her father Alphonso has complete control over her and uses her to his advantage and
she suffers from it.
Alice Walker vividly portrays the sad but apparent reality of life in the black rural communities of
America during the mid twentieth century. It is a time when the impacts of slavery are still ... Show

in the mesolimbic and when low levels of dopamine found in the prefrontal cortex, symptoms of
schizophrenia will occur. When the cortical pathway through the nucleus accumbens is disturbed,
there will be an increase subcortical release of dopamine, which in turn causes the D2 receptor to
be activated. This process will result in positive symptoms of schizophrenia forming. The reduction
of the D1 receptor found in the prefrontal cortex together with the decrease of activity in the
nucleus caudatus will cause negative symptoms of schizophrenia (dopamine). The dopamine
hypothesis is the most accepted hypothesis, yet scientists are still unsure of why there is an excess
of dopamine in the body (article 1?).Glutamate is another neurotransmitter that could possibly be a
causing factor in schizophrenia. Glutamate helps with learning as well as the encoding of memory.
A schizophrenic person will have a lower amount of Glutamate in their body. Dopamine as well as
Halucinatnic drugs PCP block the glutamate receptor sites, lowering the amount of Glutamate in

What Ford is saying is that the students just don t really care to complete the course and just
quit. These students are very unmotivated to complete the course. Ford goes on to say when
talking about an algebra class offered online, 90 percent of those coming directly from high
school failed the course (134). Early Ford mentioned that this algebra class was offered for 150
dollars. Not only are the classes inexpensive but they allow students to take the class whenever,
whenever, if ever.
One of the biggest concerns about online education today is something that Thomas Friedman
calls the ambition gap (354). The new American generations are becoming less motivated and
less ambitious than the rest of the world. Not only is sending american jobs to other countries

You Just Don Y Understand
You Just Don t Understand by Deborah Tannen, Ph.D.
William Morrow and Company, 1990
Reviewed by Laura Morrison
That men and women are on different wavelengths when it comes to communicating is probably
not news to you. However, Can We Talk? the cover story of the December issue of New Age
Journal, provides some excellent new perspectives on this age old problem. The author, Peggy
Taylor, interviewed sociolinguist Deborah Tannen, who has written a book called You Just Don t
Understand: Women and Men in Conversation. Tannen s research shows that the differences
between the communication styles of men and women go far beyond mere socialization, and
appear to be inherent in the basic make up of each sex.
Tannen first noticed these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The woman begins to feel that her man doesn t care about her because he won t talk to her in a way
that feels intimate.
It is important for women to understand that men s communicating is all about status. Think
about all those nature shows you ve ever seen on PBS. The prime goal of male beasties is to be
able to mate; to do this they must be powerful enough to challenge the lead males in the herd. As
they grow up, they bide their time by establishing a pecking order. When a beastie is big and
strong enough to have most of the other males under him, he is ready to take on the old man. If he
wins the fight, he gets to mate with the females of his choice (and they will mate only with him).
Tannen has found that human males behave in exactly the same way. She discussed the research
of Marjorie Goodwin, who studied boys in Philadelphia for a year and a half. She found that boys
give orders as a way of gaining social status. The high status boys gave orders just to maintain their
dominance, not because they particularly needed the thing done. And the boys who were being told
what to do were low status, by virtue of doing what they were told.
This dynamic is important to remember when looking at another major area of miscommunication
between men and women. Women cannot understand the resistance men seem to have when asked
for assistance or consideration of some kind or another. Women must remember the above scenario
and understand that, for men, doing what they

In order to maintain a clean and healthy environment this policy provides guidance for staff and
parents as to when children should or should not be in school if showing signs of illness. The
health and wellbeing of all children is of paramount importance to enable them to be successful
learners and to be the best that they can be.
Guidance
Children should not be brought to school if they are displaying signs of illness. If parents do bring
children to school and staff feel that they are unfit for school, parents / carers / emergency contact
will be contacted and requested to come and collect their child and requested not to return their
child to school until symptom free.
If a child is thought to be unwell while at school they will be seen by a qualified first aider as the
condition of the child needs to be assessed. This should be done in a kind and caring manner. The
Head Teacher of should be informed of any sick children.
Should a child become ill whilst at school, a member of staff will contact the parent / carer
/ emergency contact. While awaiting the arrival of parents, the staff will ensure the comfort of the
child in the school office, taking appropriate action, which would include seeking medical advice
if necessary. If the child is in danger, the staff will seek medical advice immediately. Should a
member of staff consider an illness / situation to warrant immediate medical attention, they will

The Incas of Cusco originally represented one of these small and relatively minor ethnic groups, the

Tropical rainforests have long been home to indigenous peoples who have shaped civilizations and

My Passion For Comedy
When I first glanced at the prompts and saw the one that asked me to speak of a passion of mine,
I knew that this was definitely the prompt I had to choose. My passion is my love for comedy.
Comedy has always been a huge part of my life and continues to be to this day. It has
encompassed my life for as long as I can remember. Whether I was looking to others to make me
laugh, developing laughter from being around my family, or myself making others laugh the
memories are embedded in my mind. With these memories I have come to the conclusion that I
have always found a way to make others laugh. I really don t know if I make people laugh to
gain friends or some other reason; whatever it may be, it has sparked a realization that this is
something I love to do. When I first think about why I have a passion for comedy, I think of it as
being powerful and special. It is one of those things that can unite people. Laughter doesn t
discriminate, it doesn t matter your ethnicity, religion, political opinion, etc., this is what I
believe makes it so captivating. With humor you can as least for a little while forget about
everything going on around you, regardless of the simplicity or complexity of the situation. It is a
way for us to keep our sanity and gives us the opportunity to come together and put serious issues
aside or be able to look at those issues in a less hostile manner. Laughter is one of those things
everyone can appreciate, and should have a healthy amount of

Government Intervention On The Internet Essay
Government Intervention on the Internet
During the last decade, our society has become based on the sole ability to move large amounts of
information across great distances quickly.
Computerization has influenced everyone s life in numerous ways. The natural evolution of
computer technology and this need for ultra fast communications has caused a global network of
interconnected computers to develop. This global network allows a person to send E mail across
the world in mere fractions of a second, and allows a common person to access wealths of
information worldwide.
This newfound global network, originally called Arconet, was developed and funded solely by and
for the U.S. government. It was to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am opposed to such content on the Internet and therefore am a firm believer in
Internet censorship. However, the question at hand is just how much censorship the government
impose. Because the Internet has become the largest source of information in the world, legislative
safeguards are indeed imminent. Explicit material is not readily available over the mail or
telephone and distribution of obscene material is illegal. Therefore, there is no reason this stuff
should go unimpeded across the Internet. Sure, there are some blocking devices, but they are no
substitute for well reasoned law. To counter this, the United States has set regulations to determine
what is categorized as obscenity and what is not.
By laws set previously by the government, obscene material should not be accessible through the
Internet. The problem society is now facing is that cyberspace is like a neighborhood without a
police department. quot;Outlaws quot; are now able to use powerful cryptography to send and
receive uncrackable communications across the Internet. Devices set up to filter certain
communications cannot filter that which cannot be read, which leads to my other topic of interest:
data encryption.
By nature, the Internet is an insecure method of transferring data. A single E mail packet may

Landings Were Been Around Since The Revolutionary War
Amphibious landings have been around since the Revolutionary War. The main purpose has
always been for landings; in order, to position soldiers for an assault on a city. Amphibious
assaults, however, have never actually been executed until World War 1. During that time a need
for a thorough amphibious assault doctrine was not needed because amphibious landings were not
carried out to assault the enemy on the beachhead, and landings were usually met with little
resistance. One of the first and foremost amphibious assaults occurred during World War 1. This
amphibious operation is known as the Battle of Gallipoli, which ended as a major failure for the
Australian and New Zealand Coalition forces, or ANZAC forces. The Battle of Gallipoli... Show

The ANZAC had to control the Dardanelles by capturing the Gallipoli peninsula from Turkey, in
order to capture Constantinople and control the Strait of Bosporus. 2 However, the amphibious
assault on Gallipoli was a major disaster for the ANZAC and its allied forces. Many mistakes
were made because the ANZAC did not plan the amphibious assault well. The first mistake that
was made was that the ANZAC landing forces landed one mile north of the landing site. 3 This
was a problem because the landing force would have to change their course of direction, in order
to get to the correct landing site, which would waste precious time. This was also a problem
because the direction they were going to land at was an area with open cliffs rather than the open
beach and countryside that was intended. Further, the ANZAC forces did not adequately plan,
how efficiently they were too move off the beachhead, which poised as a potential kill zone. The
initial problem was that getting out of the landing crafts was problematic.4 The terrain under the
shore posed a problem for many soldiers getting off the beaches because it slowed them down.
Many ANZAC soldiers drowned or died disembarking their landing crafts. The ANZAC troops
crowded the beaches, once they landed. The ANZAC soldiers could not exit the beaches because
not only were the beaches chaotic with the amassed troops but also the maps that the ANZAC
soldiers were outdated and were utterly useless. In addition,

Justifying Reproductive Cloning For Logistical Motives Essay
Justifying Reproductive Cloning for Logistical Motives
In this age of technology and innovation, what was once science fiction is now becoming a reality.
Human reproductive cloning is on the forefront for providing prospective parents with a new mode
of reproduction. However, with the concept of reproductive cloning comes an unprecedented set of
ethical issues. Issues especially focused on how cloning may affect the child s right to an open
future are highlighted by philosophers such as Dena Davis. Davis takes a neutral stance on
reproductive cloning and argues that it is morally impermissible when used for duplicative
motives, but permissible when used for logistical motives. Duplicative motives are when the
genetic replication itself... is the attraction (Davis 160) and the parents wish for their child to be a
mere copy of their donor. Logistical motivations are when the parents end goal is simply to have a
child that is genetically related (Davis 159). Davis leaves the evaluation of such parental motives in
the hands of healthcare professionals. Philosophers McGee and Wilmut add to Davis position, but
call for a more holistic evaluation of parental motives and competency by following an adoption
model. In this paper, I will support Davis argument on the moral permissibility of reproductive
cloning under logistical motivations by addressing the main concerns that surround reproductive
cloning. First, I shall reconstruct Davis argument in favor of reproductive cloning

Photo Observation
I think this photo is a good representation of space because the small hill in the bottom middle
leads your eye back and everything gets smaller towards the back. I dropped the horizon because
I liked how the skies take up almost half of the top because it shows movement and distance from
one side of the photo to the next. Originally, the photo was very dark so I increased the brightness
and contrast at different levels for the skyand the trees/houses respectively. I added a sepia photo
filter to give a warm effect, and dodged and burned the parts that were hit by the lightand shadowed
by it.

I wanted to make the blue gradient in the sky more noticeable so I fixed the hue and saturation of
the sky. I also dodged and burned the skies to make them stand out more. I added an orange photo
filter near where the sunlight diffused around the tree.
This picture best represents rule of thirds because the leaves are not in the middle of the picture,
but rather in the bottom right corner. I like how the leaves frame the sky on the bottom without
covering too much of it. I made the blue in the sky more contrasted and brighter. I also made the
leaves redder and with a paintbrush went over some parts with red to make them a bit brighter.
For this photograph, I had my mom stand under the tree because I really liked how the leaves
contrasted against her and the trees and house in the background. I made her skin softer and
added a layer mask to the leaves and her eyes so they stood out more clearly. I really liked how
the couple leaves in the front were so clear and I liked how the light hit them so I did not change
anything about them. Her pose in this photo gave off a very relaxed vibe. You can tell that she is

A Hero s Journey
Shortly after the discovery that my beloved wife had gone missing, I began to retrace my steps
in search of her. I believe I must have lost her in the process of cycling up the hill; however, I
cannot seem to make out which path I had come from. The night was closing in and I have yet to
figure out which path I had come from. I stood at the fork staring blankly at the rusty colored dirt.
My first thought was maybe she was sitting under a tree a few feet away from the road. I looked
about for her golden hair to peak through the limbs, but I could see no sign of her. I called her
name, and again, no sign. I thought to myself, perhaps she had gone to look for help at one of the
nearby farms, but that seemed fairly unlikely. My wife was not of Dutch origin, and her tongue for
the language was fairly unintelligible. I called her name several times before I heard the loud

virus. According to the Hussain, Mannan, and Ali (2012), sternal and mediastinal infection is a

For example, it was one author s experience, when working in a cardiac surgery center in Duhok,
Iraq, that five adult patients who were suffering from sternal wound infections died after open heart
surgery. This is significant because they all died within 1 month. The investigation into the cause
showed that the surgery instruments were not sterilized using the adequate and ideal method.
Therefore, staff nurses in cardiac surgery departments need nursing knowledge so that they can
provide safe care that reduces or eliminates post operative infections. For example, they need
instructions about sterilizing equipment, giving medications, and evaluating patients before, during,
and after heart surgery. Nurse educators are prepared to provide teaching strategies to staff nurses to
assure quality care. The purpose of this proposed quasi experimental study is to investigate whether
education for operating room staff nurses will result in fewer wound infections in adult patients
after open heart surgery. Educational content will include sterilization program, medication
program, and nursing care program.

while questioning the psychological effect of this pursuit. Peter Weir s Picnic at Hanging Rock is
based on the disappearance of three school girls in a mysterious manner, leaving the audience
questioning humanbehaviour in relation to the environment they are in. As the stories progress, self

It is discussed that we as individuals must see the beauty around us and learn to appreciate it, not

identity but for which his own society had little sympathy. This quote from Motives: On the
Exotic, suggests that different landscapes allow individuals to pursue their desires that may not be
accepted in their culture. Freedom from the pressures of society allow their real ideology and
identity to be seen in landscapes that support the views and values of this individual as seen by
Gustave Flaubert in Egypt.
Picnic at Hanging Rock explores external forces that impact on the actions of the young women
that contradict their upbringing and place in society. As they interact with the environment, they
lose the values of their school which opposes their class and social stigma. The environment is
represented as being wild and untamed, and as the sophisticated young women enter this
environment, they lose their innocence and an air of sexuality engulfs the young women. There
is a conflict in the portrayal of repressed and expressed sexuality behaviour as well as the
complete opposite, such as the headmistress who tends to deny any sort of sexual forces and the
young girls who seem to yearn to act on these desires. The

Without an adult, the game was left up to the children to decide. They had to decide whether the
ball was in bounds or not; they would often make a fair call rather than trying to boost their own
team. Unorganized sports allows them to learn fairness and equality because if they end up
making the game unfair, the children would lose their friends to another game on the playground.
The unorganized sports at recess had more laughter involved compared to the organized sports
because the children were often playing with who they wanted to play with at recess (i.e. their
best friends). The unorganized sports were more fun to the children because there was no pressure
from their parents or coaches to be the best or to win; it was just for fun and to be active with their
friends. The children were not forced to focus on what they were doing; they could take a break
from the game and mess around with each other. Another thing that I noticed during unorganized
sport observations was that the children made up rules as they went and as they needed the rules
to be put in place instead of discussing all the rules at the beginning. With them making up rules
as they went, it did cause problems because some of the children would say that is not how they
play the sport being on an organized sports team. A majority of the children would talk about
playing on a sports team, while they were playing at recess, so the rules of both would cause
conflict. When conflict arrives, the children would have to problem solve himself or herself
without a coach or referee to

Middlesex County Field Observation
Contextual Factors:
Old Bridge, New Jersey is approximately located on 38.8 square miles of land in Middlesex
County. It houses a smaller neighborhood known as Laurence Harbor, which sits on the Raritan
Bay waterfront. Old Bridge Township consists of 12 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1
public high school. (Demographics, 2015). With a population reaching as high as 23, 753
individuals in 2010 residing in the town. Approximately 24% of residents in Old Bridge are foreign
born and speak a language other than English at home. Being that a quarter of the population of the
town is bilingual this makes the area quite diverse, which would impact the school districts
curriculums and additional services to those ESL learners. (State and county ... Show more content

Use of Energy by the Human Body
Throughout a normal day, the body uses glucose in the form of energy. The glucose that the body
uses is attained from carbohydrates that one receives from a meal eaten during the day. However,
when glucose begins to run out, especially if a person is rigorously exercising, and is not
restocked, the body must use its energy supplies, glycogen. Glycogen is one of the most important
polysaccharides in the human body. It is the body s stored energy; with the highest storing sites
being the muscles and liver. Glycogen is important to the liver because it is able to provide a
backup supply of glucoseso that blood glucose concentration is maintained at a sufficient level to
supply the brain during times of starvation. Glycogen s function in sustaining blood glucose
levels is imperative because glucose is essentially the only fuel source used by the brain. The
primary function of muscle glycogen is to supply fuel for the contraction of the muscles during
exercise. However, insufficient amount of glycogen in the liver and muscles can lead to numerous
diseases, diseases like Glycogen Storage Disorders (GSD). Glycogen synthesis and breakdown
occur by distinctive pathways that are catalyzed by different enzymes. Glycogen phosphorylation
involves three steps: the first is the release of glucose 1 phosphate from glycogen, then altering of
the glycogen substrate to allow additional phosphorylation, and last is the conversion of glucose 1
phosphate to glucose 6 phosphate. Glycogen

Flatbed Vehicle
When you place a call to arrange for towing service, odds are good that you ll expect one specific
type of tow truck to arrive: a flatbed vehicle. However, there are actually multiple types of tow
trucks that roadside assistance teams may use. While not every towing service will have all of
them in their fleet, it s worth asking about, in order to ensure you get the right vehiclefor your needs.
The following are the three most common towing vehicles in use:
Flatbed Truck
Again, this is the most well known variety. As the name suggests, it consists of a truck with a
wide flatbed area for your vehicle to rest on. Small ramps allow the crew to drag or drive your car
up into the flatbed. Typically, this is regarded as the safest towing vehicle

4.1 Research Approaches
One of the questions that an organization must decide before conducting research is which
research approach will be most appropriate. The approach chosen will depend on the research
question and the type of information is seeking. There are three general research approaches;
descriptive, exploratory and causal (Kolb, 2008).
.
Descriptive research
Descriptive research is used when statistical data are needed on a fact. The tool used to conduct
descriptive research is almost always surveys (Kolb, 2008).
Exploratory research
Researchers should use exploratory research when a research question deals with finding
information on consumer attitudes, opinions and beliefs. Such exploratory research can be useful

Nonprobability Sampling Methods
All of the sampling methods we have described thus far embody probability sampling assumptions.
In each case, the probability of any unit being selected from the population into the sample is
known, even though it cannot be calculated precisely.

In our study, we consider convenience sampling procedure when selecting consumers. Moreover,
for selecting farmers and middlemen we apply judgement sampling procedure.
Developing a Sample Plan
Up to this point, we have discussed various aspects of sampling as though they were discrete and
seemingly unrelated decisions. However, they are logically joined in a definite sequence of steps,
called the sample plan, which the researcher goes through to draw and ultimately arrive at the final
sample. These steps are listed and described in Table .

Touch Football Game Analysis
This assessment piece will examine and assess my suitability to play either the middle, link or
wing position in Touch football based on the fitness test results, energy requirements for selected
positions and skills demonstrated in games analysis. In the fitness tests carried out evidence shows
that I am best suited to play the position middle because out of all my fitness results. The fitness
tests carried out showed that my ratings and results were best suited for the requirements of a
middle player in touch. (Appendix One)
Touch football is a game that has three positions as a middle, link, and wing. Each of these
positions has specific fitness components to be successful. The main fitness components for middle

Speed is a necessity in touch because getting past the opposing defensive line is key. Also, quick
reactions with passing rucking etc will help the team s performance. Cardiorespiratory endurance
is a measurement of how well your heart, lungs, and muscles work together to keep your body
active over an extended period of time.
For a touch football player to be successful in the middle position several components of fitness
are needed for the player to be effective. One of the important fitness components for touch
football is coordination. Coordination is needed for all positions in touch football to help your
nervous system and your muscles to work together, so that you can perform specific movements
smoothly and accurately (Amezdroz, 2004). Examples of coordination in touch football are hand
eye coordination whilst catching and passing the ball and touching an opposing player. Also, foot
and leg coordination whilst running up the field and back on side. In recent fitness tests
coordination is measured by the alternate hand rebound test. Results showed that I got a score of
27 with my hand eye coordination which is a rating of excellent (Appendix One). In a 30 minute
game I made 44 passes and 45 catches this shows that

Positive And Negative Effects Of Technological Change
Technological change is an increase in the efficiency of a process (usually done by a machine)
which results in more output, but without input having been increased (Winston, n.d). A specific
level of technological advancement is necessary for productivity and growth in the economy of a
country. The absence of proper technological change retards the economic growth and
technological change has impacted the world by creating new products and processes, increasing
efficiency and lowering costs, and helping economies evolve. Structural unemployment is the
situation when the jobs are available and workers are willing work, but they don t have the
required job skills to qualify for the vacant positions or just simply the mismatch between the jobs
available and the skill levels of the unemployed. Technological change may make some skills
obsolete or require new ones. For example, the introduction of personal computers since the 1980s,
has lowered demand for typists who lacked computer skills (Rittenberg Tregarthen. 2012, p 216).
Technological changes have negative effects on employment. It negatively affects the value the
value of workers and automated processes and other technology have become more important to the
process of increasing output. Workers are less expensive to replace than machines therefore they
have become less valuable as a result of technological change. Government s economic policies have
an influence on technology development and adoption because it helps

Imogene King s Theory Of Goal Attainment
Imogene King developed the Theory of Goal Attainment and based it on the belief that nursing
focuses on the care of people as a whole (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 144). The theory states
that there are many factors that effect the care of the patient, including the environment,
communication, the individual s health and interactions among patients, families and nurses
(Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 145 146). The environment consists of internal and external
factors that may effect patient care (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 146). The primary objective
and goal of nursing is to return the patient to their optimal level of health and ability to function
as a whole person (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 146). The Theory of Goal Attainment is
separated into three main systems, each with their own concepts: Personal systems, interpersonal
systems, and social systems (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 147). Personal Systems consists of
the individual (patient and nurse together: Concepts: Perception How an individual feels about or
interprets something. Self How the individual perceives themselves on the inside. Growth and
development The continuing changes of the inner and outer aspects of the individual Body
image How the individual perceives themselves. Time How long it takes between two separate
events. Learning Understanding on a deeper level. space (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 147).
Interpersonal systems consists of two people, three people, small group: Concepts:
Communication Expressing needs, wants and ideas between more two or more people
Interaction more than one person participating in a single task or alongside each other Role
Expected behaviors for each individual Stress Positive or negative in response to a particular event
or stressor Transaction Goal directed human behavior. (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 148 149).
Social Systems consists of multiple people or community/society Concepts: Organization focusing

Intervertebral Disk Disorder
Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD) is one of the most common spinal cord disorders in small
animals. It is the degenerative process of the intervertebral disk which causes bulging or
herniation into the spinal cord, the disk acts as a cushion and shock absorber for the vertebrae.
Treatment for animals that had severe IVDD with paralysis and no deep pain perception used to
be surgery but recent studies show that surgery might not be the best way to go.
Electroacupuncture sends small electrical signals to the central nervous system and has few
adverse effects. If there is another way to help canines who suffer from IVDD rather than going
through an extensive and extremely expensive surgery I believe it should be explored. This paper

Analysis Of The Short Story Where Did You Get That Name
What defines the cause that ultimately depicts our take on life? On the surface, people typically
see gender as a definable matter, but fail to consider the variations that exist. Stories provide
examples of infectious reasons one views the world as they do. One s identity influences the
authenticity of a situation presented, maturity affects how one contributes to foul behavior, and
those reflecting a wide variety of experiences are more adaptable to foreign circumstances. The
background of an individual determines their approach and consideration of situations. The short
storyWhere Did You Get That Name? , by Baratunde Thurston, demonstrates this precisely, when
Baratunde, a young Nigerian boy, finds himself explaining the origin of his name to who he refers
to as Father Nigeria, saying I got it from my parents (Thurston3), only for the interrogation to
continue and the man to dismiss his explanation and ruthlessly assume that Baratunde [had] no
history, no culture, no roots...[and] decided to indict, judge and reject all of African America.
(Thurston3). Father Nigeria , being marinated in the Nigerian Culture all his life, immediately
questioned Baratunde s authenticity. Because Baratunde was only partially Nigerian, this man
reverted to his culturally defensive mentality, and undermined Baratunde s identity. Father Nigeria
had come from purely Nigerian roots, and when a Nigerian exposed to American culture attempted
to explain his name, he automatically reacted

Tsa Should Use Full Body Scanners
After the devastating terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11th, TSA (Transportation
Security Administration) was created and have since then beefed up their security. Because of all
the new security devices and rules taking place now, the wait time at in the security line is longer,
but for a good reason. On an average day, TSA screens 1.1 million bags. Of those 1.1 million bags,
around 50,000 of them have to be checked thoroughly due to suspicious items inside the bags. The
wait time at airport securitylines has increased because of new threats. Because of an increase in the
wait time at the securityline, some people find it very frustrating and think that all the precautions
are unnecessary. Those people are wrong though. In the past years since TSA was created,
multiple bomber attacks have been attempted but have yet to succeed due to TSA keeping up
with its safety requirements. In 2010, TSA started to use full body scanners. Some people are
uncomfortable with the idea that when going through the body scanners, they are almost viewed
completely naked and worry that those photos will be leaked. In Emily Holbrook s article,
Airport Security: privacy vs. safety, she makes an interesting pint when it comes to body
scanners by quoting Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who said, you don t need to look at my wife and 8 year
old daughter naked in order to secure that airplane (quoted in QTD. Holbrook 14). This is an issue
that has been brought to many people when going

  • 2. A Sorrowful Woman Theme The short story, A Sorrowful Woman is a story with a very accurate title. This story is about a woman who grows tired of being a wife and a mother and in a sense, abandons her husband and son by staying locked up in the bedroom while they are home. She rarely comes out and has little interaction with her son. She has some good days where she will spend time with the son but it is often ended because the son does something she does not like. The main theme of this short story is companionship as salvation which is demonstrated throughout the whole story primarily through the husbands continuous effort to help his wifein any way that he can. Not only is salvation through companionship shown through the companionship of the husband and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with the use of repetition in the story, Godwin s use of characterization helps further develop the overall theme of the story as well. Godwin presents several examples of companionship which ends up saving the mother in the end. For example, as far as one can interpret from the information given to us in this story, the son accepts the fact that he can t always get to see his mother and be with her. One can make this assumption because the husband would tell the wife that he and the boy understood her current situation. The son not giving up on his mother and understanding and respecting his mother s wishes when it came to her not wanting to see him is important for the woman because she does things throughout the story that lets the reader know that she still loves the boy and the father. At the very end of the story boy says, She s tired from doing all our things again which shows the reader that the son is aware that the mother has not been the mother she once was to him. (Godwin, 42). The companionship between the father and son could be seen as salvation because since the mother could not take care of the son as a mother should, the father had to step into a large role and care for the son himself before ... • 3. Research Paper On Drunk Driving Madison McAlpine Mrs. Gallos English 3 21 November 2017 Driving under the influence Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one or two drinks, people should think about the severe consequences that come from driving under the influence. Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated drivers. There are ways of avoiding these life changing risks. Appointing a designated driver before drinking or calling an uber is a smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable circumstances. There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015, 10,265 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving). These crashes are not only harmful, but can also be very expensive. People who drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs that will be incurred if pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as being involved in an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199 billion per year (Snyder). This includes the expense of road clean up, medical services, court cases, insurance and much more. These costs are leading indicators of how extensive and severe drunk driving is making a devastating financial impact on the American economy. • 6. Effects Of Artificial Gravity Artificial gravity is an application of force, resulting from acceleration, that creates a sense of gravity. It is often used in space to counteract the effects of weightlessness in astronauts. Artificial gravity can be created in many ways; for example, centripetal force, a force that makes a body follow a curved path, can cause artificial gravity. If a spaceship was to rotate from its center, the force of rotation would push the astronaut in the opposite direction, causing the astronaut to experience an outwards force similar to gravity on Earth. The gravity can be calculated by using the radius between the center of rotation to the astronaut. The larger the radius, the larger the force, or artificial gravity, the astronaut would experience. Think of it as spinning on one of the spinning seats often found on playgrounds. The farther you lean your body out of the seat (increasing your radius from the center), the larger force you feel and the more likely you are to fly off. In addition, there are many reasons why astronauts need the sense of artificial gravity. The main reason would be the person s health. Humans have evolved to live on the earth, with a presence of gravity; once that presence is gone, the human body can experience several different effects. For example, muscle and skeleton deterioration can occur. When floating in space, an astronaut does not use their body s muscles like on earth; they don t put the same stresses on their back muscles, or their knee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Ketamine Essay Introduction Chronic intake, the delayed onset of action, drug resistance and numerous side effects force the researchers to look for the new, safe antidepressant strategies (1, 2) with rapid onset and longer time of action. Results obtained in the recent years give some hope that ketamine which is a global NMDAR antagonist could be the fast and long acting novel antidepressant. Antidepressant like activity of ketamine was shown in many preclinical studies (1 7). The single non anesthetic dose of ketamine reversed symptoms of major depression (MDD) in clinical conditions (8). These antidepressant effects of ketamine also occurred in patients who suffered from resistant depression or suicidal ideations (9 12). Despite a successful ... At the molecular level of explanation these processes are dependent on the interplay between glutamate receptors, Ca2+ channels, the increase of intracellular Ca2+ levels, Ca2+ dependent proteins like Akt, ERK, mTOR and neurotrophins such as brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) (24, 25). Because Ca2+ is the central point for all mentioned processes, we focused our interests on hyperforin which is Ca2+ modulator. Hyperforin is the natural and biologically active compound extracted from Hypericum Perforatum (St John Wort) (26). The St John Wort extract and hyperforin attenuated symptoms of mild to moderate depression in a few clinical trials. Both extract and hyperforin displayed antidepressant like activity in preclinical studies (27, 28). From molecular perspective, hyperforin has multidirectional mechanisms of action. It acts on ligand gated (GABA, NMDA and AMPA receptors) (29, 30) and voltage gated channels (Ca2+, K+, and Na+) (29, 31). In contrast to blockade of ion transport through the plasma membrane, hyperforin can increased an inward Ca2+ current. These processes are dose dependent and probably involved a few different cellular events. In the details, hyperforin in in vitro studies increased the Ca2+ intracellular level by activation of the non selective canonical transient receptor potential 6 channels (TRPC6) or by the releasing Ca2+ from mitochondria (32 34). In literature In fiction a wish is a supernatural demand placed on the recipient s unlimited request. When it is the center of a tale, the wish is usually a template for a morality tale, be careful what you wish for ; it can also be a small part of a tale, in which case it is often used as a plot device. Snow White s mother s wish for a beautiful child might have been a coincidence, but the father s wish in The Seven Ravens transforms his seven sons into ravens, just as the mother s wish in The Raven transforms her daughter. This is common in a tale involving a person, male or female, wishing for a child, even one that is a hedgehog, or a sprig of myrtle, or no bigger than a hazel nut. The number of wishes granted varies. Aladdin had an unlimited number in the original story, but was restricted to three wishes in the 1992 Disney film. As in the Charles Perrault tale The Ridiculous Wishes, three is the most common, but others may be granted to fit the constraints of the tale. Several authors have spun variations of the wish for more wishes theme, though some disallow this as cheating. In many stories the wording of the wish is extremely important. When the cortical pathway through the nucleus accumbens is disturbed, there will be an increase subcortical release of dopamine, which in turn causes the D2 receptor to be activated. This process will result in positive symptoms of schizophrenia forming. The reduction of the D1 receptor found in the prefrontal cortex together with the decrease of activity in the nucleus caudatus will cause negative symptoms of schizophrenia (dopamine). As they grow up, they bide their time by establishing a pecking order. When a beastie is big and strong enough to have most of the other males under him, he is ready to take on the old man. If he wins the fight, he gets to mate with the females of his choice (and they will mate only with him). Tannen has found that human males behave in exactly the same way. She discussed the research of Marjorie Goodwin, who studied boys in Philadelphia for a year and a half. She found that boys give orders as a way of gaining social status. The high status boys gave orders just to maintain their dominance, not because they particularly needed the thing done. And the boys who were being told what to do were low status, by virtue of doing what they were told. Therefore, there is no reason this stuff should go unimpeded across the Internet. Sure, there are some blocking devices, but they are no substitute for well reasoned law. To counter this, the United States has set regulations to determine what is categorized as obscenity and what is not. By laws set previously by the government, obscene material should not be accessible through the Internet. The problem society is now facing is that cyberspace is like a neighborhood without a police department. quot;Outlaws quot; are now able to use powerful cryptography to send and receive uncrackable communications across the Internet. Devices set up to filter certain communications cannot filter that which cannot be read, which leads to my other topic of interest: data encryption. • 24. Landings Were Been Around Since The Revolutionary War Amphibious landings have been around since the Revolutionary War. The main purpose has always been for landings; in order, to position soldiers for an assault on a city. Amphibious assaults, however, have never actually been executed until World War 1. During that time a need for a thorough amphibious assault doctrine was not needed because amphibious landings were not carried out to assault the enemy on the beachhead, and landings were usually met with little resistance. One of the first and foremost amphibious assaults occurred during World War 1. This amphibious operation is known as the Battle of Gallipoli, which ended as a major failure for the Australian and New Zealand Coalition forces, or ANZAC forces. The Battle of Gallipoli... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ANZAC had to control the Dardanelles by capturing the Gallipoli peninsula from Turkey, in order to capture Constantinople and control the Strait of Bosporus. 2 However, the amphibious assault on Gallipoli was a major disaster for the ANZAC and its allied forces. Many mistakes were made because the ANZAC did not plan the amphibious assault well. The first mistake that was made was that the ANZAC landing forces landed one mile north of the landing site. 3 This was a problem because the landing force would have to change their course of direction, in order to get to the correct landing site, which would waste precious time. This was also a problem because the direction they were going to land at was an area with open cliffs rather than the open beach and countryside that was intended. Further, the ANZAC forces did not adequately plan, how efficiently they were too move off the beachhead, which poised as a potential kill zone. The initial problem was that getting out of the landing crafts was problematic.4 The terrain under the shore posed a problem for many soldiers getting off the beaches because it slowed them down. Many ANZAC soldiers drowned or died disembarking their landing crafts. The ANZAC troops crowded the beaches, once they landed. The ANZAC soldiers could not exit the beaches because not only were the beaches chaotic with the amassed troops but also the maps that the ANZAC soldiers were outdated and were utterly useless. • 27. Justifying Reproductive Cloning For Logistical Motives Essay Justifying Reproductive Cloning for Logistical Motives In this age of technology and innovation, what was once science fiction is now becoming a reality. Human reproductive cloning is on the forefront for providing prospective parents with a new mode of reproduction. However, with the concept of reproductive cloning comes an unprecedented set of ethical issues. Issues especially focused on how cloning may affect the child s right to an open future are highlighted by philosophers such as Dena Davis. Davis takes a neutral stance on reproductive cloning and argues that it is morally impermissible when used for duplicative motives, but permissible when used for logistical motives. Duplicative motives are when the genetic replication itself... is the attraction (Davis 160) and the parents wish for their child to be a mere copy of their donor. Logistical motivations are when the parents end goal is simply to have a child that is genetically related (Davis 159). Davis leaves the evaluation of such parental motives in the hands of healthcare professionals. Philosophers McGee and Wilmut add to Davis position, but call for a more holistic evaluation of parental motives and competency by following an adoption model. In this paper, I will support Davis argument on the moral permissibility of reproductive cloning under logistical motivations by addressing the main concerns that surround reproductive cloning. The night was closing in and I have yet to figure out which path I had come from. I stood at the fork staring blankly at the rusty colored dirt. My first thought was maybe she was sitting under a tree a few feet away from the road. I looked about for her golden hair to peak through the limbs, but I could see no sign of her. Unorganized sports allows them to learn fairness and equality because if they end up making the game unfair, the children would lose their friends to another game on the playground. The unorganized sports at recess had more laughter involved compared to the organized sports because the children were often playing with who they wanted to play with at recess (i.e. their best friends). The unorganized sports were more fun to the children because there was no pressure from their parents or coaches to be the best or to win; it was just for fun and to be active with their friends. The children were not forced to focus on what they were doing; they could take a break from the game and mess around with each other. Another thing that I noticed during unorganized sport observations was that the children made up rules as they went and as they needed the rules to be put in place instead of discussing all the rules at the beginning. With them making up rules as they went, it did cause problems because some of the children would say that is not how they play the sport being on an organized sports team. A majority of the children would talk about playing on a sports team, while they were playing at recess, so the rules of both would cause conflict. • 42. Use of Energy by the Human Body Throughout a normal day, the body uses glucose in the form of energy. The glucose that the body uses is attained from carbohydrates that one receives from a meal eaten during the day. However, when glucose begins to run out, especially if a person is rigorously exercising, and is not restocked, the body must use its energy supplies, glycogen. Glycogen is one of the most important polysaccharides in the human body. It is the body s stored energy; with the highest storing sites being the muscles and liver. Glycogen is important to the liver because it is able to provide a backup supply of glucoseso that blood glucose concentration is maintained at a sufficient level to supply the brain during times of starvation. Glycogen s function in sustaining blood glucose levels is imperative because glucose is essentially the only fuel source used by the brain. The primary function of muscle glycogen is to supply fuel for the contraction of the muscles during exercise. However, insufficient amount of glycogen in the liver and muscles can lead to numerous diseases, diseases like Glycogen Storage Disorders (GSD). Glycogen synthesis and breakdown occur by distinctive pathways that are catalyzed by different enzymes. Also, quick reactions with passing rucking etc will help the team s performance. Cardiorespiratory endurance is a measurement of how well your heart, lungs, and muscles work together to keep your body active over an extended period of time. For a touch football player to be successful in the middle position several components of fitness are needed for the player to be effective. One of the important fitness components for touch football is coordination. Coordination is needed for all positions in touch football to help your nervous system and your muscles to work together, so that you can perform specific movements smoothly and accurately (Amezdroz, 2004). Examples of coordination in touch football are hand eye coordination whilst catching and passing the ball and touching an opposing player. Also, foot and leg coordination whilst running up the field and back on side. In recent fitness tests coordination is measured by the alternate hand rebound test. Results showed that I got a score of 27 with my hand eye coordination which is a rating of excellent (Appendix One). In a 30 minute game I made 44 passes and 45 catches this shows that ... • 47. Positive And Negative Effects Of Technological Change Technological change is an increase in the efficiency of a process (usually done by a machine) which results in more output, but without input having been increased (Winston, n.d). A specific level of technological advancement is necessary for productivity and growth in the economy of a country. The absence of proper technological change retards the economic growth and technological change has impacted the world by creating new products and processes, increasing efficiency and lowering costs, and helping economies evolve. Structural unemployment is the situation when the jobs are available and workers are willing work, but they don t have the required job skills to qualify for the vacant positions or just simply the mismatch between the jobs available and the skill levels of the unemployed. Technological change may make some skills obsolete or require new ones. For example, the introduction of personal computers since the 1980s, has lowered demand for typists who lacked computer skills (Rittenberg Tregarthen. 2012, p 216). Technological changes have negative effects on employment. It negatively affects the value the value of workers and automated processes and other technology have become more important to the process of increasing output. Workers are less expensive to replace than machines therefore they have become less valuable as a result of technological change. Government s economic policies have an influence on technology development and adoption because it helps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Imogene King s Theory Of Goal Attainment Imogene King developed the Theory of Goal Attainment and based it on the belief that nursing focuses on the care of people as a whole (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 144). The theory states that there are many factors that effect the care of the patient, including the environment, communication, the individual s health and interactions among patients, families and nurses (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 145 146). The environment consists of internal and external factors that may effect patient care (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 146). The primary objective and goal of nursing is to return the patient to their optimal level of health and ability to function as a whole person (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 146). The Theory of Goal Attainment is separated into three main systems, each with their own concepts: Personal systems, interpersonal systems, and social systems (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 147). Personal Systems consists of the individual (patient and nurse together: Concepts: Perception How an individual feels about or interprets something. Self How the individual perceives themselves on the inside. Growth and development The continuing changes of the inner and outer aspects of the individual Body image How the individual perceives themselves. Time How long it takes between two separate events. Learning Understanding on a deeper level. space (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 147). Interpersonal systems consists of two people, three people, small group: Concepts: Communication Expressing needs, wants and ideas between more two or more people Interaction more than one person participating in a single task or alongside each other Role Expected behaviors for each individual Stress Positive or negative in response to a particular event or stressor Transaction Goal directed human behavior. (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. 148 149). Social Systems consists of multiple people or community/society Concepts: Organization focusing on achieving set goals Authority Ability to make decisions and changes Power Having higher esteem Status Title or perception of rank decision making the ability to make a choice for yourself or others (Sitzman Eichelberger, 2017, p. ... • 49. Intervertebral Disk Disorder Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD) is one of the most common spinal cord disorders in small animals. It is the degenerative process of the intervertebral disk which causes bulging or herniation into the spinal cord, the disk acts as a cushion and shock absorber for the vertebrae. Treatment for animals that had severe IVDD with paralysis and no deep pain perception used to be surgery but recent studies show that surgery might not be the best way to go. Electroacupuncture sends small electrical signals to the central nervous system and has few adverse effects. If there is another way to help canines who suffer from IVDD rather than going through an extensive and extremely expensive surgery I believe it should be explored. This paper will be comparing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This study consisted of 50 small breed dogs such as pekingese, dachshunds, cocker spaniels and maltese. The dogs were between the ages of one and six and weighed less than ten kilograms. Each dog was evaluated for the neurologic dysfunction grades and functional neurologic scores. The neurologic dysfunction grades varied from grade one to grade five. They split the dogs up into a group of 26 who received conventional medicine and electroacupuncture and 24 dogs who received just conventional medicine. All dogs were given prednisone and tramadol if needed. If the dogs had any adverse effects they were given ranitidine for five to seven days. The owners were advised that they had to restrict their dog s activity for 30 days to avoid recurrence. 26 dogs went through electroacupuncture once per week for three weeks and dogs with a grade five went through it twice a week for two weeks and then once a week for two more weeks. They used an alternating current of 3 Herz and 100 Herz for 20 minutes. The acupuncture points that were chosen are as follows: small intestine 13, bladder 62, 60, 20, 25 and 23, stomach 36, kidney 13, governing vessel one, large intestine 14 and gall bladder 30. The points were chosen based on the dog s neurologic dysfunction grade. Dogs that received the medicine and electroacupuncture with a grade three or four recovered within six ... • 50. Analysis Of The Short Story Where Did You Get That Name What defines the cause that ultimately depicts our take on life? On the surface, people typically see gender as a definable matter, but fail to consider the variations that exist. Stories provide examples of infectious reasons one views the world as they do. One s identity influences the authenticity of a situation presented, maturity affects how one contributes to foul behavior, and those reflecting a wide variety of experiences are more adaptable to foreign circumstances. The background of an individual determines their approach and consideration of situations. The short storyWhere Did You Get That Name? , by Baratunde Thurston, demonstrates this precisely, when Baratunde, a young Nigerian boy, finds himself explaining the origin of his name to who he refers to as Father Nigeria, saying I got it from my parents (Thurston3), only for the interrogation to continue and the man to dismiss his explanation and ruthlessly assume that Baratunde [had] no history, no culture, no roots...[and] decided to indict, judge and reject all of African America. (Thurston3). Father Nigeria , being marinated in the Nigerian Culture all his life, immediately questioned Baratunde s authenticity. Because Baratunde was only partially Nigerian, this man reverted to his culturally defensive mentality, and undermined Baratunde s identity. Father Nigeria had come from purely Nigerian roots, and when a Nigerian exposed to American culture attempted to explain his name, he automatically reacted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Tsa Should Use Full Body Scanners After the devastating terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11th, TSA (Transportation Security Administration) was created and have since then beefed up their security. Because of all the new security devices and rules taking place now, the wait time at in the security line is longer, but for a good reason. On an average day, TSA screens 1.1 million bags. Of those 1.1 million bags, around 50,000 of them have to be checked thoroughly due to suspicious items inside the bags. The wait time at airport securitylines has increased because of new threats. Because of an increase in the wait time at the securityline, some people find it very frustrating and think that all the precautions are unnecessary. Those people are wrong though. In the past years since TSA was created, multiple bomber attacks have been attempted but have yet to succeed due to TSA keeping up with its safety requirements. In 2010, TSA started to use full body scanners. Some people are uncomfortable with the idea that when going through the body scanners, they are almost viewed completely naked and worry that those photos will be leaked. In Emily Holbrook s article, Airport Security: privacy vs. safety, she makes an interesting pint when it comes to body scanners by quoting Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who said, you don t need to look at my wife and 8 year old daughter naked in order to secure that airplane (quoted in QTD. Holbrook 14). This is an issue that has been brought to many people when going ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
