Homework should NOT be compulsory in primary schools!
Homework are tasks set by teachers for students to do at home. These tasks are “supposed” to help students at school. There are a variety of tasks such as spelling, maths, reading and mini assignments. These are three important reasons why homework should NOT be compulsory in primary schools.
Firstly, homework means we get less time to play on our Nintendos and Play Stations. Once students come home from school they are tired from doing six hours of learning. We need some time to play on our Nintendos and Play Stations to keep our brains working. There are brain games on Nintendos such as Brain Age, Brain Boost and also Big Brain Camping. These games can help us with our learning at school. For example Brain Age helps us with Maths, Reading and Writing. By playing such games we can get our brains working therefore, we do not need homework because we can use other things to get our brains working at home.
Secondly, homework stops us watching TV for example Home and away, educational programmes and Shortland street. TV is more important than homework because we need some time to relax and have a rest after school. Also, there are educational programmes that we can watch to improve and educate our brains. By watching these programmes we can become more brainy and educated. Therefore, we do not need homework because we can watch educated programmes to get our brains working.
Finally, homework means we cant go shopping at the Plaza straight after school. I think going shopping is very important because we could be going to Smiggle to get some new stationary for school. Also we could be buying new school books. If we do not get the opportunity to go shopping, then we would have no school books to work in at school. Therefore we do not need homework because we need to spend the time to go shopping to buy things for school.
I strongly believe homework should NOT be compulsory in primary schools because it means we get less time to play on our Nintendo's and Play Station, it stops us from watching TV and it means we cant go shopping. By: Katie
