Their senior project, which they had dread, taught them that with proper time management it was not as difficult as expected. While the online portion was challenging, working with children for their project hours confirmed their interest in becoming an elementary school teacher. Overall, the author feels the senior project helped them grow and better prepare for future educational and work experiences.

Favorite journal entries helped Aron reflect on overcoming challenges and envision his career. Aron felt most focused during weeks with multiple assignments across classes. He plans to carry forward lessons in time management, confidence, and helping others. Aron's self-assessment showed growth in areas like responsibility and self-awareness.

Madi enjoyed her year in Senior G and found the PLTs, literacy contracts, writing inspiration, music, sports, technology lessons, maths lessons taught by Mrs. Gridley, camp, circle time, art, positive education, Italian, and leadership opportunities to be highlights. She felt she grew in her skills and had a fun, engaging, and educational year.

Bree reflects on achieving her goals from the previous term and sets new goals for the next term. She achieved her academic goal of improving her spelling by practicing at home daily. While she did not achieve her sports goal of improving her swimming, she met her social goal of not being shy when talking to the class. Bree also achieved her personal goal of completing chores independently. For the next term, Bree's goal is to focus better in class by not talking as much and avoiding distractions.

The student enjoyed art and cultural studies but found it annoying when the teacher had to repeat things. Their favorite activity was a koi carp sketch because they liked how it turned out. They would have liked to add more color to their koi carp. They disliked a wire sculpture activity because they kept pricking themselves. Overall, they felt they put in a good effort in their work.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
