Innovation is a lifelong process. Designing a product through available technology that will be beneficial to the lives of others is a huge contribution to the society. This paper puts forward the design and implementation of a low cost yet flexible and secure Android based home automation system. The design of the project is based on a Arduino UNO board and the home appliances are connected to the input/output ports of this board via relays. The interaction between the smartphone and the Arduino UNO is wireless. UBIQUITOUS SMART HOME SYSTEM USING ANDROID APPLICATIONIJCNCJournal
This paper presents a flexible standalone, low cost smart home system, which is based on the Android app communicating with the micro-web server providing more than the switching functionalities. The Arduino Ethernet is used to eliminate the use of a personal computer (PC) keeping the cost of the overall system to a inimum while voice activation is incorporated for switching functionalities. Devices such as light switches, power plugs, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, current sensors, intrusion detection sensors, smoke/gas sensors and sirens have been integrated in the system to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed smart home system. The smart home app is tested and it is able successfully perform the smart home operations such as switching functionalities, automatic environmental control and intrusion detection, in the later case where an email is generated and the siren goes on.

CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.

effectiveness, efficiency and fault detection. It has made it
possible to have a reliable municipal or national electricity
system, which often comprises remote and hard-to-reach
transformers and power sub-system units. It makes it
possible to monitor different power units, relay their status
and health information, and even carry out fault detection
and correction without human interference.

BLUETOOTH SYSTEM:
It is a signaling system for exchanging data over short
distances(using short wavelength radio waves) up to 10m.
WIFI BASED SYSTEM:
It is a signaling system for exchanging data over long distances in
comparison to bluetooth (upto 100m).
RF BASED SYSTEM:
It uses radio frequency signals for the communication.
ZIGBEE BASED SYSTEM:
Like bluetooth, is specification for communication in wireless
personal area network(WPAN).
16. HISTORY OF AUTOMATION
Home automation has been around since the world war 1 (1914),
in fact, the television remote (a simple home automation system)
was patented in 1893 . Since then different home automation
systems have evolved with a sharp rise after the second World War.
It's growth has been through various informal research and designs
by technology enthusiasts who want a better way of getting things
done at home without much effort on their part. The systems
evolved from one that can automatically do routine chores like
switch on and off security lights, to more sophisticated ones that
can adjust lighting, put the television channel to favorite station
and control door.

In the present day home automation is becoming
essential for the purpose of improving our life
condition.
Home automation offers ease of mind and body to
handicapped and/or elders in their houses by just one
click to do what they want.
It also offers an efficient use of energy.

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based
on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards
are able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a
button, and turn it into an output - activating a motor,
turning on an LED etc.
Arduino is an instrument used to build a better version
of a computer which can control, interact and sense
more than a normal desktop computer.
It is open source, straight forward ,uses simple
language, inexpensible and provides cross platform.

24. BLUETOOTH MODULE
Arduino-Uno board doesn’t support Bluetooth
connection on its own, which makes the idea of
connecting it wirelessly to an Android device
impossible. So a medium between the Arduino-Uno
board and android device is needed and in this project
it is a Bluetooth module specifically the HC-06
Bluetooth module.

Android app that will make controlling the pins of
Arduino-Uno from an Android phone wirelessly possible.
This app employs a simple Android user interface to
control Arduino Uno's digital and PWM pins, send text
commands to Arduino-Uno and receive data from Arduino
over Bluetooth serial module.
