Fun with Straws: Drinking different textures through a
drinking straw, or blowing air through a straw to move
objects like pom poms are both great ways to develop a
child’s oral muscles.Difficulty sticking tongue out
Cotton Ball & StrawPut the cotton ball down on the table or
on the floor. Now, take a straw & let him blow through it to
make a cotton ball move (have the cotton ball on the table).
This will help with the oral muscles needed for speech.
Effectiveness:
• develop & improve lips strength.
• strengthen swallowing muscles.
• strengthenting speech production process.

Cotton Ball & Straw Put the cotton ball down on the
table or on the floor. Now, take a straw & let him blow
through it to make a cotton ball move (have the cotton
ball on the table). This will help with the oral muscles
needed for speech.

• Drinking from a straw is a very simple yet effective
effective way of improving oral motor skills.
• It works on lip seal, tongue retraction, cheek
strength, correct jaw position,
• it improve breathe coordination, consecutive
swallows.
• Sucking can also help some individuals organize,
increase their attention, and soothe/calm
themselves.

puff your cheeks out.
• Hold the air in your cheeks
by tightly
• closing your lips together.
• Hold the air in
• your cheeks for 5 seconds.

FOR THE LIPS:
• Say "ooo" with exaggerated lip
movement. Then say "eee." Combine
them for "oo-ee." Really round the lips.
• Say "puh" and pop the sound with
emphasis.
• Make a big smile. Relax and repeat.

• Improve flexibility
• Practice tongue tip sounds. Say "t-t-t-t-t-t," "n-n-n-n-n-n,"
and "d-d-d-d-d-d." You can also try a combination of
these sounds, such at "t-d-n."
• Place the tongue tip on the alveolar ridge behind the
upper front teeth. Then place it behind the bottom front
teeth.
