The Significance of Being A Christian - A Person RebornRick Peterson
A Person Reborn is the first in a series of lessons on, "The Significance of Being A Christian." I found the outlines for this series of lessons at: http://executableoutlines.com/sig.htm
John 3:1-5. A New Life In Christ. In the new life we have been born again. In the new life we are a new creation. In the new life we crucify the flesh with its passions and desires. In the new life we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. In the new life we are renewed by the Holy Spirit. In the new life we are dead to sin but alive to God. In the new life we are washed from our sins. in the new life we put to death the old man and put on the new man. In the new life we died and our life is hidden with Christ in God. In the new life we were brought back from death in sin.

Bible Alive continues with Faith in Paul. What does faith mean for Paul and his New Testament writings? Does Paul disagree with Old Testament understandings of faith? How do faith and preaching relate? How is faith made “incarnational” through obedience? Is faith for Paul something only mental? Is faith for Paul expressed in a one-time event or confession? Is faith forever, or does Paul think it may become sick and die? How is faith vision for Paul, and by it, what does one see? All are invited to participate.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
8. Hebrews 10:14 – For by that one
offering he perfected forever all
those whom he is making holy. NLT
9. 1 John 4:17-18 – As we live in God,
our love grows more perfect. So we
will not be afraid on the day of
judgment, but we can face him with
confidence because we are like Christ
here in this world.
10. Such love has no fear because
perfect love expels all fear. If we are
afraid, it is for fear of judgment, and
this shows that his love has not been
perfected in us.
18
12. Being perfected (made Holy) is
what the Process of Holiness at
the Practical level is all about.
13. Hebrews 10:15-17 – And the Holy
Spirit also testifies that this is so, First
he says, 16This is the new covenant I
will make with my people on that day,
says the Lord:
14. I will put my laws in their hearts so
they will understand them and I will
write them on their minds so they will
obey them. 17Then he adds, I will
never again remember their sins and
lawless deeds. NLT
15. Ezekiel 36:24-27 – For I will gather
you up from all the nations and bring
you home again to your land. 25Then I
will sprinkle clean water on you, and
you will be clean. Your filth will be
washed away and you will no longer
worship idols.
16. And I will give you a new heart with
new and right desires, and I will put a
new spirit in you. I will take out your
stony heart of sin and give you a new
obedient heart. 27And I will put my
spirit in you so you will obey my laws
and do whatever I command. NLT
26
17. Look What God Has Done!
Cleaned you – Born Again
A new heart with right desires
that will learn to obey
His Holy Spirit within you
A new human spirit
18. Romans 12:2 - copy the behavior
and customs of this world, but let
God transform you into a new
person by changing the way you
think. Then you will learn to know
God’s will for you, which is good
and pleasing and perfect. NLT
19. Ephesians 1:3 – How we praise
God, the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who has blessed us with
every spiritual blessing in the
heavenly realms because we
belong to Christ. NLT
20. 2 Corinthians 7:1 – Because we
have these promises, dear
friends, let us cleanse ourselves
from everything that can defile our
body or spirit. And let us work
toward complete purity because
we fear God. NLT
