Giving Thanks To Yahweh
vv. 1-3
I give you thanks, O LORD, with
all my heart; I will sing your
praises before the gods. 2I bow
before your holy Temple as I
worship.
I praise your name for your
unfailing love and faithfulness;
for your promises are backed
by all the honor of your name.
3As soon as I pray, you answer
me; you encourage me by
giving me strength. NLT
v. 1 – We understand why the
psalmist praises God but why sing
praises before the gods?
v. 2 – What is the relationship
between Yahweh’s name and His
promises?
God’s own name reflects not only
His character but also His
faithfulness.
Those who are atheists or who
worship false gods do not
intimidate Christians who are
devoted to Yahweh.
Joshua 23:14 - “Soon I will die,
going the way of everything on
earth. Deep in your hearts you
know that every promise of the
Lord your God has come true.
Not a single one has failed! NLT
According to Dr. Everek R. Storms

from God to man in the Bible.

will hear your words. 5Yes, they
will sing about the LORD’s ways,
for the glory of the LORD is very

v. 4 - Why would you thank
someone for their words?
v. 5 - What does it mean that
God’s glory is great?
The two common
denominators of God’s Word
are His glory and the good of
mankind.
v. 6 - Why does Yahweh like
humility while opposing pride?
Isaiah 57:15 - The high and lofty
one who lives in eternity, the
Holy One, says this: “I live in
the high and holy place with
those whose spirits are contrite
and humble. I restore the
crushed spirit of the humble
and revive the courage of those
with repentant hearts. NLT
The humble have a true
perspective of who they are –
the proud have a foolish
perspective of who they are.
Isaiah 66:2 - My hands have
made both heaven and earth;
they and everything in them are
mine. I, the Lord, have spoken!
“I will bless those who have
humble and contrite hearts,
who tremble at my word. NLT
The humble know Yahweh
made them and owns them
and therefore rightly submit to
Him – the proud do not.
The biggest wall to knowing
God and drawing close to Him
is pride.
Matthew 5:3 - “Blessed are the
poor in spirit, for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven. ESV
Matthew 11:29 - Take my yoke
upon you. Let me teach you,
because I am humble and
gentle at heart, and you will find
rest for your souls. NLT
7Though I am surrounded by
troubles, you will protect me
from the anger of my enemies.
You reach out your hand, and the
power of your right hand saves
me.
The Working of God’s Plans
For Your Life
vv. 7-8
8The LORD will work out his
plans for my life—for your
faithful love, O LORD, endures
forever. Don’t abandon me, for
you made me. NLT
v. 7 - Who has the capability to
save you from any troubling
circumstance?
v. 8 - What type of plans does
Yahweh have for your life?
Yahweh speaks to Israel
Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the
plans I have for you,” says the
Lord. “They are plans for good
and not for disaster, to give you
a future and a hope. NLT
Yahweh speaks to His Church

God’s masterpiece. He has
created us anew in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things he
planned for us long ago. NLT
