(Titus 2:11-15) — What would you say is the biggest problem facing the church? If you were honest with yourself, could you say you were as zealous as you ought to be? What is Zeal? Can zeal be bad? — What are we most enthusiastic about? Where are our affections and values directed? - http://w65stchurchofchrist.org/2017_Sermons/2017_03_19_Zealous_For_Good_Works.mp3
The second study in our "Growing Deep in the Gospel" series in which we answer the question, "What is the Gospel?" In answering the question we looked at how the word "gospel" was used in Jesus' day and how the Bible describes the gospel. We also looked at what is the heart of the gospel, a outline of the basic gospel message and an outline of the gospel based on the entire Bible.

God made promises to Abraham. The fulfillment of these promises form the theme of the Bible: All nations are blessed through Christ, the seed of Abraham
Predestination is one of the most widely taught doctrines in Calvinism. The biblical understanding of this passage reveals a much deeper underlying principle and a richer store of information than can be imagined.
God want's to do great things for us. A scripture based study into predestination reveals that God wants to glorify us. Allow the scriptures to open the pathway that God desires to bring us on.
Our past is all the same - sin and rebellion. Our present is much different - we are now children of God! Our future is bright with salvation, redemption and eternal life ahead of us. What a great life in Christ!
A study on the doctrine of predestination as found in scripture and its many implications for the end time.
This document seeks to look at the scriptural teaching of predestination and where the completion of the purposes of predestination should be expected to be carried out. Clear pinpoint links between predestination, election, justification, sanctification and glorification presented. Prayerful reading required.
Reading time: Approximately 30 minutes.
Presents a detailed description of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including redemption, justification, righteousness, regeneration, reconciliation, propitiation, adoption, sanctification, glorification
Why does evil seem to prosper and good suffer? God showers many blessings on the faithful and unfaithful alike. This may even be a catalyst for development of the good.
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.

Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

7. The New Testament content is summarized as
follows:
The gospels present Jesus’ life, teachings and
sacrificial death through various lenses.
The acts of the apostles portray the dynamic
lives of the disciples and apostles soon after Jesus’
death and resurrection
Paul’s letters to churches and leaders
Other letters – Peter, James, John, Jude, etc.
The Revelation tying up loose ends of the
current and future world in a grand majestic finale
8. In what way does the New Testament contrast with
the Old Testament?
God is the same
His character is the same
His Word is the same
His relationship with us is the same
Wickedness of man is the same
Behaviour of God’s people are the same
It is only our perception and understanding that
has increased with the revelation of Jesus
9. In the OT there were:
Imperfect people communicating a perfect
message
Imperfect people practicing a perfect law
This marred the perception and practice of the
law.
Jesus never said the law was irrelevant, he
condemned the practice of it.
10. 1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in
the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2
in these last days has spoken to us in His Son,
whom He appointed heir of all things, through
whom also He made the world. 3 And He is the
radiance of His glory and the exact representation
of His nature, and upholds all things by the word
of His power. When He had made purification of
sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty
on high, 4 having become as much better than the
angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name
than they. Hebrews 1
11. The old testament brings us a perfect world
The new testament brings us a perfect
Saviour, the only Saviour.
It also brings to us a perfect leader and role
model – all in the form of Jesus Christ.
Finally, it gives us a glimpse of future – of
judgment, of victory, of glory.
We, however continue to be imperfect with
clouded perceptions but strive to achieve a
better level of perception and perfection.
12. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as
in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being
transformed into the same image from glory to
glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. 2
Corinthians 3:18
13. Jesus completed the circle of the law by
fulfilling it through his life enabling others to
fulfil it through their relationship with Him.
This relationship was based on reciprocation
of His divine love and forgiveness
This relationship strengthened the
relationship with the father, the holy spirit
and word.
14. The usage of God as Father is much more in
the NT.,more so after Jesus’ myriad references
to God, not only as His Father but as our
Father.
“When he came to his senses, he said… “I will
set out and go back to my father” –Luke
15:17
How great is the love the Father has lavished
on us, that we should be called children of
God! And that is what we are! –1 John 3:1
15. For you did not receive a spirit that makes
you a slave again to fear, but you received the
Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,
Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our
spirit that we are God’s children. — Romans
8:15-16
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow
or reap or store away in barns, and yet your
heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not
much more valuable than they? –Matthew
6:26
16. And there is salvation in no one else; for
there is no other name under heaven that has
been given among men by which we must be
saved.“ Acts 4:12
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which
also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord
Jesus Christ; Philippians 3:20
It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full
acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners, among whom I am
foremost of all. 1 Timothy 1:15
17. Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to
come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his
cross and follow Me. Matthew 16:24
But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know
that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and
their great men exercise authority over them. "It is
not this way among you, but whoever wishes to
become great among you shall be your servant, and
whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your
slave; read more. Matthew 20:25-28
"You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for
so I am. "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed
your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
"For I gave you an example that you also should do as
I did to you. John 13:13-16
18. Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ. 1
Corinthians 11:1
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved
children; and walk in love, just as Christ also
loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering
and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
Ephesians 5:1-2
bearing with one another, and forgiving each
other, whoever has a complaint against anyone;
just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
Colossians 3:13
19. For what credit is there if, when you sin and are
harshly treated, you endure it with patience?
But if when you do what is right and suffer for
it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with
God. For you have been called for this purpose,
since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you
an example for you to follow in His steps, WHO
COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT
FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; 1 Peter 2:20-22
20. the one who says he abides in Him ought
himself to walk in the same manner as He
walked. 1 John 2:6
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer;
and you know that no murderer has eternal
life abiding in him. We know love by this, that
He laid down His life for us; and we ought to
lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John
3:15-16
21. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if
indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you But if anyone
does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong
to Him. Romans 8:9
seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of
Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the
sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. 1 Peter
1:11
Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of
His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba!
Father!"Galatians 4:6
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set
you free from the law of sin and of death. Romans
8:2
22. For the word of the Lord is right and true; he
is faithful in all he does. Psalm 33:4, NIV
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not
live on bread alone, but on every word that
comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4,
NIV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. John
1:1, NIV
23. "Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION
OF DESOLATION which was spoken of
through Daniel the prophet, standing in the
holy place (let the reader understand), 16
then let those who are in Judea flee to the
mountains. "Matthew 24:15
"For false Christs and false prophets will arise
and will show great signs and wonders, so as
to mislead, if possible, even the
elect."Matthew 24:24
24. "But immediately after the tribulation of those days
THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL
NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL
from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will
be shaken, 30 and then the sign of the Son of Man
will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the
earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF
MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with
power and great glory. 31 And He will send forth
His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL
GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds,
from one end of the sky to the other. "Matthew

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost. –Matthew 18:12-14
“Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” — Matthew 7:9-11

1 John 4:14
We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
At the time of Jesus the Roman empire was in command over most of the world. In 70 AD the temple is destroyed and the Jews scatter. Over the past couple of centuries they are returning to Israel.
