Landscaping Ideas
Coming home to a resort style garden is like being on vacation every day of the year. Outdoor
areas are often the last to receive design attention, but they shouldn t be: What surrounds your
home is just as important as what s in it. Well designed landscaping ideas can complement your
home s architectural design, and the right plants and flowers can greatly enhance your curb appeal
by adding color, texture and even fragrance to your yard.
Foliage and Trees
For the most part, tropical gardens rely on foliage rather than flowers to create interest year round.
Combine lively and colorful easy care plants that wont triple your water bill and plant them in
groups of odd numbers (three, five, seven, etc.) to create a broad stroke of color and texture.

Astrology And Greek Mythology
. Whether astrology is accepted as true has yet to be determined. For centuries, astrology has been
used to provide a deeper understanding of nature and identity.
Astrology originates from Babylon developing from the belief that the heavens ruled man s fate.
The Babylonians were the first to apply myths to constellations and astrology. The Egyptians refined
the Babylonian system of astrology and the Greeks shaped it into its modern form. It was through
studyings of Plato, Aristotle and others that Babylonian astrology was introduced to the Greeks in
the 4th century B.C.. The Greeks borrowed the occasional component from the Babylonian
structure in order to invent their own system. It is the Greeks who ... Show more content on

98 percent knew their sun sign 45 percent believing it to describe their personalities, 25 percent
claiming it can make accurate forecasts, and 20 percent with the impression that the stars
influence life on Earth. Regardless of beliefs, the proven validity of astrology seems to have no
effect on the impact of astrology. Providing partial reasoning for the popularity of astrology is
social media and the ability of networking to reach a large number of people. Courtesy of social
media, astrology has been turned into a meme. Astrologist and astrology meme generators collect
followers by categorizing signs as literally anything, from cat breeds to hair aesthetics. Despite
being turned into a joke by modern technology, prominent figures that have researched astrology
with great depth have made a science out of it. Aristotle and Einstein did such and put their
thoughts on display for people to adapt as their own. Aristotle stated that this world is inescapably
linked to the motions of the worlds above. All power in this world is ruled by these

The Molecular Mechanism Of Disease Development Essay
HS is a severe and chronic inflammatory disease with a devastating negative impact on the quality
of life. Unraveling the molecular mechanism of disease development is an important step towards
curing this chronic disease. To our knowledge, no published study has focused on an epigenetic
approach in HS using a genome wide high density methylation array. In the current study, CpG level
methylation statuses were obtained using Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChips for DNA
samples from HS subjects and normal controls. This enabled us to characterize differentially
methylated regions involved in HS pathogenesis and identify novel DNA methylation markers that
have not previously been reported with aberrant methylation in association with HS.
A ROC AUC ≥0.75 is generally characteristic of a good biomarker, and an AUC ≥0.9
represents an excellent biomarker. In the present study, we have identified 304 CpG markers, all
with an ROC AUC ≥0.75 and many with excellent diagnostic accuracy for the prediction of HS
status; most of them have not been investigated at the functional level. These 304 CpG sites on 304
genes are spread across noncoding and coding, exonic, promoter and intronic regions with the
largest number (32%) in the intron of the gene, further emphasizing the importance of gene
regulation by intronic sequences. Many of these hypermethylated sites contain an open chromatin
conformation and are occupied with a number of transcription factors, further suggesting that these

Foreign Aid From The United States
When I chose Brazil as the subject country for examining its foreign aid received, I ran into a bit
of a dilemma. Brazil has evolved from being a foreign aid recipient and less developed nation of
the past, to become a major foreign aid provider in recent years. This fact places this emerging
country in a unique and interesting position as both a donor and recipient as of 2010 records
reveal and Brazil s donor status is on the increase since this new middle of the road development
status for this intriguing country emerged.
Brazil s modern history includes 300 plus years of colonization by Portugal form 1500 to 1800, to
the establishment of its independent status in 1822. (2) Today, Brazil in its association with BRIC
(Brazil, Russia, India and China) bloc partnership, Brazil now distributes close to 4 billion dollars
in annual global aid to less developed nations around the world, especially in sub Saharan Africa. (4)
As a recipient of foreign aid, Brazil in 2012 received $2.4 million (US) in international
humanitarian aid. Also, during the period of 2003 to 2012, Brazil received $ 4.5 billion (US) in
official development assistance (ODA). (1) As a donor nation, Brazil contributed $1.3million (US)
in humanitarian assistance in 2013 and $54 million in that same category of international aid (US)
in 2012. (1) Due to global austerity, international foreign aid is on a constant decline around the
globe. Some estimates place Brazil s 2015 projected, combined giving,

Colonists Point Of View On The American Revolution
COLONISTS POINT OF VIEW ON THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION The British were cruel,
forceful, and just plain mean. Colonists asked the British for their rights, but no, the British would
not give them their rights. Britain was a horrible country, and they didn t listen to the Colonists,
although they were usually right.Following the French and Indian War, King George the third
wrote the surprising Proclamation of 1763. The Proclamation stated that the new western frontier
that the colonists won actually belonged to the indians and the colonists could not settle past a
line of the Appalachian mountains. The law was passed because the Natives claimed that the
western frontier actually belonged to them, although the Natives weren t using the land. The
Quartering act of 1765 , A big part of the Revolution came next. Colonists were forced to house,
feed and bed British Soldiers. Thomas Gage, a military governor, protested against the wicked
parliament, but unfortunately, it didn t go his way. Colonists had little money to pay for things for
themselves, no less a stupid soldiers needs.Colonists had to keep the soldiers needs satisfied and
they had to do unfair things, like give up their own bed for a soldier. The stamp act of 1765 was
another cruel thing that horrible King George imposed. Colonists had to pay an unnecessary
amount of money to purchase stamps. Colonists had little money and it took months to send mail
to Britain and back. Colonists had no other way to communicate to

Proper Casting
northernorthotics.com.au Proper Casting and Bracing for Full Rehabilitation and Healing
When an injury occurs to bones, muscles, ligaments or even cartilages, it often requires proper
casting and bracing with or without surgery for full rehabilitation and healing of the damaged
area. A number of different devices are available today to ensure that each body part receives the
correct support, so it can soon return to normal functioning. The casting or bracing method that is
effective for you will depend upon how severe the injury is and where it is in your body.
What Casting or Bracing Accomplishes With Injuries
The appropriate braces or casts will immobilise the injury fully or partially to allow the muscles,
bones, cartilages, tendons or ligaments to heal sufficient to regain normal functioning. At times,
these orthotic devices also offer additional support to the area of a body that has been weakened by
the injury in order for the patient to participate in physical therapy and certain daily ... Show more

Should Schools Keep Junk Food
Keep junk foods in school cafeterias The controversial topic of childhood obesity has been going
on for a long time and because of it, many schools are debating if they should ban junk food from
school cafeterias or not. There are many opinions on what step should be taken to solve this
problem. Some say too ban junk food and some say it should not be banned. It should be up to
the kids and the parents as too what kids eat and not the government. By banning junk food in one
place doesn t mean it s going to stop them from eating sugary foods they can get it from another
place. One of the reasons why junk food should not be banned from school cafeteriais because the
cafeteria isn t the only source kids have too unhealthy foods. Kids in school can go just around
the block to the gas station or minimart and buy all sorts of junk foods, probably even more than
what they can buy in school from vending machines and the lunch lines combined. Like Rosenthal
said, at some open campus schools have made it a practice to walk to nearby mini marts and gas
stations to buy the same products they used to purchase in the vending machines (9). This quote
tells us that campuses have made it easier for students to go out during school and or afterschool to
purchase the junk food they want. A school administration recently did an experiment to see if
students could purchase individual food and beverage items, either from vending machines, school
store, canteen, snack bar or a la carte

Battle Of The Wilderness Essay
The Battle of the Wilderness was the first part of a major offensive strategy by a new Union
General in Chief, Ulysses S. Grant. Grant never planned to fight the Confederates at this time. His
main goal was to begin marching towards the Confederate capital, Richmond, Virginia. This was
all part of Grant s plan known as the Overland Campaign. The overall goal was to keep Confederate
Commander Robert E. Lees famous Northern Virginia Army occupied with defending their capital
so that Lee would not be able to send soldiers to stop the another Union army from invading
Georgia. Therefore, Grant only wanted to get to the Confederate capital of Richmond. However,
while trying to slip by Lee, Grant got his army caught up in a fight in a dangerous area... Show more

Although Grant had 115,000 soldiers and Lee had only 65,000 troops, knowledge of the
dangerous terrain could become more valuable than the number of troops. The actual battle
began the morning of May 5th, 1864. The fighting was wild and chaotic due to the thick
undergrowth and many trees making it nearly impossible for one man to move swiftly, forget
about an entire army. There were men on both sides who got so lost that they accidentally went
into enemy camps and were taken as prisoners. Many of the wounded fell into the thick
undergrowth and got stuck, later being burned and killed by fires due to rifle fire. When night
arrived, the battle was inconclusive, meaning neither side had a clear winner. However, the
Union managed to gain a position in which they could attack Lee s right wing. Grant ordered for
them to attack at 4 am the next morning. So ends the first day. On the second day of the battle,
May 6th, 1864, reinforcements arrived for both sides. The Union s planned attack on Lee s army
was slightly postponed from 4am to a little later than 5am so that commanders could have more
time to organize their troops after the previous day s fierce

Effects Of The Attack On Pequot Fort
The attack on Pequot Fort was a brutal, one sided battle between the Pequot people, fellow
Natives Americans, and the Englishmen. The Pequot fought very hard and stood their ground
during the battle. In John Underhill s account, he mentions that he and Captain Mason set fire to
the fort. This led to many deaths of the Pequot people as most of them stayed and fought through
the Palisadoes. The Pequot were slowly losing the war as their warriors died and their weaponry
destroyed in the flames. Those who ran from the fire were killed by the colonists themselves.
Those who survived the fire and fought back were killed nonetheless. The Englishmen had
advanced warfare compared to the Natives. The Colonists had swords, Carbines, and Muskets while

Papillomavirus Essay
According to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS)
the human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). I
wasn t aware that it impacts so many people; SIECUS reports that each year there are
approximately 6.2 million new cases of HPV and that 75% of people between ages 15 and 49
have had a genital HPV infection. This isn t something that I hear about as an adult male in this
country. Before conducting research, I was only aware that HPV was tied to cervical cancer
and there was a vaccine for young women. In the last decade, the understanding of HPV has
increased considerably. Although schools don t require the vaccination it s recommended that
children age 11 12. People have till their mid 20 s to receive a catch up immunization. HPV is
responsible for causing more than 90% of anal and cervical cancers, about 70% of vaginal and
vulvar cancers, and more than 60% of penile cancers and HPV is linked to 70% of oropharynx
cancers (CDC, 2015). Not all people infected have complications, in fact, most people are

Bitter Is The New Black Analysis
Bitter is the New Black I chose to read the first in a series of memoirs authored by Jen Lancaster,
Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a condescending, egomaniacal, self centered smart ass,
or why you should never carry a Prada Bag to the unemployment office. The memoir goes into
details about how her life drastically changed after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. The
largest change being that she was terminated from her place of work, making her lavish way of
living no longer obtainable. Throughout the entirety of the memoir Lancaster did not hold back
any of her thoughts, making her tone very relatable. She acted very much like myself, however,
Lancaster spoke her mind more than I would ever dare to. Overall, Lancaster s word choice and
tone connected with me extremely well. I feel she understood her audience and how to connect to
them through diction and word choice.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She used her natural tone to appease to her audience, a lot of which has a similar personality to
her. I believe that Lancaster knew her target audience would be men and women in a similar
position to her, cynical and unemployed. Or, those men and women shared a similar sense of
humor and personality. Yes, Bethany, I replied, because every romantic fairy tale ends with
Prince Charming woofing up blue nacho chips on the princess floral shower curtain from Target.
(page 80, chapter 3) Lancaster made it so every other sentence that came out of her mouth was
either sarcastic or sassy. She knew her audience was going to be mainly composed of women and
men who had similar personality traits as her, and would appreciate her use of sarcasm and wit to
get her points across. Additionally, Lancaster used her sarcasm and sass to add an element of

Dorothea Lange And The Farm Security Agency Essay
Dorothea Lange and the Farm Security Agency:
From 1935 1944, the photographic program of the Farm Security Administration, embarked on a
nationwide quest to document, collect and create a pictorial record of American life during the
1930s and 1940s. Spanning all fifty states, the photographers produced more than 175,000 black
and white negatives, crafting one of the most immense and important photographic compositions in
American history. Created by the federal government, the photography project spanned several
government agencies, from the Resettlement Administration, the Farm Security Administration, and
the Office of War Information. Although the photographic program of the Farm Security
Administration was initially aimed at supporting the New Deal, the images produced had far more
reaching sociological and cultural impacts, all the while redefining the art of photography.
Ever since the camera was invented in 1839, the very nature of photography has been questioned.
With the increasing advent of photographic technology, photography has become an egalitarian
expression of society and community. With one press of a button, an image is captured for eternity,
bringing to question the inherent artistic quality of photographs. If we can so quickly capture an
image, can this be deemed art? Art is to promote fantasy, and dream, to incite anger and joy. Thus,
surely photography is an art, as seen through its capturing of beautiful verdant landscapes, and the

Descartes Position Of Epistemology
Epistemology examines the power of knowledge in a variety of subjects, such nature and human
behaviour. Epistemological solipsism is the theory of this knowledge, which brings forth the idea
that the only mind any person can only be certain of, is his or her own mind. Descartes spent a
great deal of focus on the mind, and is probably most famous for his conclusion of I think,
therefore I exist . But what does he mean when he says I think , and how does it relate to this
theory that the only mind an individual can be certain of is their own? This paper will divulge into
the basis of Descartes statement, as well as discuss the proposition of Descartes position of
epistemological solipsism, to explain Descartes position of the multiple methods of knowledge and
truths.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He begins by with the premise of the testimony of others, and outlines numerous ways in which
accepting the testimony of others can be detrimental. He also makes an analogy to beeswax as a
human body in order to add to his explanation of the physical and sensory worlds. Descartes uses
his perceptions of the sensory world, and the ability to doubt the existence and thought of
everything around him. Through this doubt, he is able to deduce that there is the ability to be
certain of one thing: that the only mind he can be certain of is his own. These proofs work for the
position Descartes has with regards to epistemological solipsism, while demonstrating that his
proposition can be proven to be sound through the level of thought he had put into developing this
proposition. It is because Descartes holds a high value to knowledge, as well as understanding the
source of this knowledge, that he can be seen as an epistemological solipsist. By allowing himself
to question the ideas that he had not previously doubted, he was able to expand his mind, and arrive
to the conclusions outlines in both Meditations One and

River Of Perception Analysis
Vol.1 Inter be marks the debut of Mae.Sun, a New York based eclectic group led by the clear
pitched soprano saxophonist Hailey Niswanger, a Berklee graduate who makes a bold move here
in comparison with her previous three albums as a leader.
The adroit sextet, whose other members include vibraphonist Nikara Warren, guitarist Andrew
Renfroe, keyboardist Axel Laugart, bassist Aaron Liao, and drummer David Frazier Jr., stacks up
engaging sonic layers with a foot in the contemporary jazz and the other in a groove oriented
receptacle that encompasses funk, electronica, and neo soul.
River of Perception , a progressive 6/8 adventure, immediately catches our ear when Niswanger s
adventurous patterns jump on top of a groovy bass line that articulates ... Show more content on

The former, regulated by a dashing 5/4 meter, dips acoustic sounds and penetrating vibes in wooly
sonic textures, while the latter moves surrounded by a glamorous electronic style aura, featuring an
utterly expressive solo by Renfroe and, closer to the final, the usual inside/outside prowess by
Niswanger.
An African folk groove enriched with wha wha infusions, vibraphone melodic inspiration, and
eccentric soprano drives are keys to turning Life is Limitless in an elated celebration. This rapture is
disintegrated, giving its place to a radiant spirituality, when the following track, Universal Harmony
, begins to spin. This tranquil prayer, a true moment of inspiration, acquires further elasticity when
the drummer reinforces the triplex kinesis reserved for the improvisations.
The advanced percussive skills of Frazier Jr. are also noticeable on Investigation of Reality , an
immersive experience populated with syncopated, fraught backbeats, and full toned bass drones.
Wielding a strong sense of composition, unity, and structure, Mae.Sun brings convincing doses of
originality attached to its genre bending routines. Give it a few listenings and let the fresh fusion

Fixed Dynamism Two sculptures, among others, lie in the outskirts of the Franklin D. Murphy
Sculpture Garden at UCLA. One of them, The Walking Man, is a bronze sculpture created by
French sculptor Auguste Rodin in 1905. The other, made more than 100 years later, is
T.E.U.C.L.A., a large scale steel sculpturemade by minimalist sculptor Richard Serra. Although it
may seem like these works have more differences than similarities, both emphasize the processes
of their creation and are major movements away from the classical tradition of sculpture.
However, The Walking Man and T.E.U.C.L.A. also differ in several aspects that reflect their
respective artists personal portrayals of modern sculpture. These aspects include: mode of
production, composition and the arrangement of volumes, the play of light and shadow, and visual
experience. Together these elements of formal organization work together to convey meaning in
both of these works. Rodin s deliberate rejection of refinement and disregard for the direct
translation of the unformed to formed in The Walking Man represent the process and spontaneity
of reality, while Serra s use of curvature and aperture in T.E.U.C.L.A. models the spaces people
move through and the perceptive skills they use in life and nature. Although both of these works
are in the round, they are visually and compositionally very different. The Walking Man is a bronze

Self Expression In The Awakening
The plot of The Awakening by Mary Chopin shows Mrs. Pontellier s journey to self expression
and personal happiness. Mrs. Pontellier has a moment of awakening, when she realizes that the
way that she lives her life does not make her personally happy, and spends the rest of the novel
trying to change her life for the better relentless of how the rest of the society will react to her

from the novel, Mr. Pontellier had been a rather courteous husband so long as he met certain tacit

while she was painting, she was working with great energy and interest, without accomplishing

Another great use for drones in field of land development is for conceptual site plans. Too often

often not much original design information available from the seller or local jurisdictions. The two

Rotary wing DRONEs are adding a new dimension by being able to offer a different perspective
for these inspections. These DRONEs can hover and operate below the conductor on the tower.
High definition, image stabilized cameras that provide details of hardware, insulators and mounting
assemblies are now available, but before DRONEs, this could only be seen by someone climbing
the structure. If LiDAR equipment is added to the payload, the transmission line inspection also can
include 3 D imaging from many different angles never before available. This is invaluable for tasks
such as vegetation management and clearance compliance.
Transmission providers are not the only energy providers using DRONEs; the generation side of
the business has found many applications for these remarkable devices, as has the renewable
energy sector. A power plant has many areas requiring inspection to determine what maintenance
needs to be performed, ranging from the inside of boilers to the maze of piping found in plants.
Wind and solar farms also require a great deal of inspection for maintenance. Turbines are complex,
and technicians cover everything from the tip of the turbine blade to the tower that supports the
nacelles.
By using a DRONE for these inspections, there is no need to place personnel in dangerous positions

Netflix Documentary Conventions
Although Netflix has brought significant improvements on the publication and production of
documentaries, it remains a massive American profit making business that does not follow the
conventions of documentary filmmaking. As Lin Tay and Hudson explain, new media platforms
such as Netflix, disrupt the linear structures conventionally ascribed to documentary (79). Many
traditional documentarians and genre theorists are arguing about modern documentaries level of
realness. As the genre evolves and adapts to the new generation, it loses much of its original
conventions, one of them being the importance of facts rather than fiction (O Flynn 147). By
mixing genres and applying characteristics of science fiction blockbusters and reality television to
the documentary genre, Netflixis sometimes manipulating the storylines and visuals to make the
text more appealing. For example, the thrilling Amanda Knox (2016) documentary produced by

fundamental knowledge on processing effect on food structure with relating food structure to their
functionality.
2.The second objective of this research is to apply and validate a new process techniques for the
production of food protein/fiber based nutraceuticals such as microwave treatments as a processing
or pre processing technique to alter the molecular structure of proteins and fibers thereby enhancing
their digestibility and yielding proteins, fibers or hydrolysates, with novel functionality,
nutraceutical benefits and reduced allergenicity. This objective is aiming to determine the range of
conditions under which to obtain the optimum product properties with improved activities as
functional ingredients in food industry inheriting nurtaceutical properties. In this regard, my
previous investigations revealed that microwave is a promising technique that could lead to novel
functional ingredients[4, 5].

Reliability And Validity Of Test Scores
In tests and assessments validity refers to the degree where theoretical and empirical evidence
supports the meaning and interpretation of the test scores (Reynolds Livingston, 2013). Validity is
important in testing and assessment as validity refers to credibility from a trustworthy source. In
this respect, validity is important for scientist and professionals to select appropriate methods that
support the meaning and interpretation of testscores. In psychology, reliability is concerned with
stability and consistency (Reynolds Livingston, 2013). Reliability focuses on the context of

Reliability and validity can use improvement in terms of testing and assessment. Reynolds and
Livingston (2013) suggest that by adding more test questions can improve the reliability and
validity (Reynolds Livingston, 2013). Another suggestion is for constructs and content to be clearly
defined, otherwise, scores can get lost in interpretation (Reynolds Livingston, 2013). The bottom
line is that testing and assessments are not for everyone. A person interested in pursuing
psychometrics field must truly have a calling and interest in such a profession as it can be
complex with many factors to consider. In a sense, psychometricians are pioneers and
innovators who seek to answer questions of observations made. Thus, reliability and validity
may be more clearly defined by a person who has a clear idea of what they are interested in

The Urinary Tract Infection ( Uti )
A Urinary tract infection (UTI) including the bladder and kidneys, is an infection that encompasses
the entire urinary system. The kidneys and bladder filter the blood to make Urine. A urinary
catheter is a thin tube placed in the bladder to drain urine. Urine drains through the tube into a bag
where the urinecollects. When the whole system is compromised, a patient can become very ill. A
catheterprovides a link between the outside environment and a usually sterile system. Now that the
catheter is in place, microorganisms are no longer removed by normal voiding. Germs do not
usually live in the region of the urinary system, but when they are re introduced through the absence
of voiding, infection becomes a problem. A urinary catheter may be used when you cannot urinate
on your own, to measure the amount of urine you produce, during and after certain types of surgery
and during testing of the urinary system. Health care associated infections(HAIs) are an on going
issue, specifically the prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Simply
put, those with catheters have a higher chance of obtaining a CAUTI than patients who do not.
CAUTI is the most frequent type of HAI, and represents as much as 80% of HAIs in hospitals.(The
Joint Commission, 2011) This high occurrence of infection in hospitals creates a high concern in
patient centered care. The hospital can only do so much, what s important is exactly how the nurse

Importance remained my number one takeaway from the movie though, and I soon learned its true

Investing in the Stock Market
Investing in the Stock Market Matt Gonzales Abstract The purpose of this paper is to inform the
average investor of how to make money in the stock market. The stock market should be thought of
as a long term savings vehicle. Investing in the stock market should not be associated with
gambling. By investing in high quality U.S. companies, the investor in a company profits along
with the company. As a shareholder, when the company makes money, the investor also does. There
are many ways to invest in the stock market, but it is my opinion that investing in mutual funds is

tax return at the end of the year. If that person is in the 28% tax bracket, they will receive $560

contributed to the Roth IRA, therefore the investor does not receive income tax money back at
the end of the year, but the beauty of the Roth IRA is that when the money is withdrawn at the
time of retirement (age 70), the profit is completely tax free, both state and federal

With pre tax money, this money is placed into the account before it is taxed. An example of this

the entire $100 would be placed in the account to be invested. After tax money means that the
same $100 would first be taxed federally as normal income (usually 28%) and then taxed by the
state (usually 6%), to leave only $66 of the original $100 to now be spent or invested. In addition

Relationships are all about making a commitment. After saying the I do s and committing to each
other, couples may want to take the step toward homeownership, requiring another type of
commitment: the mortgage. When two people open a mortgage together, one is named the
primary borrower and the other the secondary borrower. Determining who will be the primary and
secondary borrowers depends on the type of joint mortgage opened and whether the borrowers are
co owners or co signers. Both have an obligation to pay the mortgage debt and collection actions are
taken against both if they default on the loan.
Co Owners
In joint mortgages where the two people are married or cohabitating and will share ownership of
the home, the primary borrower is designated based on credit score and income. Lenders have
done away with the antiquated method of automatically assigning the husband as primary
borrower, assuming he makes the most money and has a better credit score. Now the primary
borrower is the person with the best credit score, because a higher credit score equals a better
interest rate. If both borrowers have similar credit scores, lenders will list the person with the
higher income as the primary borrower.

Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization
Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to
operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many
countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their
countries. According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately
35.6% of all clothing and shoes sold in the United Stateswere actually manufactured in China,
compared to just 3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the
globalization of the economy for not only domestic economic growth, but also international
economic growth. Some people think globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy
among people and nations. However, it creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First
of all, even though globalization has made the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer,
the globalization of the economy can influence many people positively. Through international trade,
people can acquire cheaper goods and services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour
are cheaper in developing countries, businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if
they were made domestically. As a result, we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies
which produce cell phones, televisions, and other electronic devices built factories in China and
Vietnam to manufacture their products. In addition to obtaining cheap goods and services,
globalization can contribute to more job opportunities overseas. Increased globalization influences
the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people can get new jobs which were not
popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific jobs, such as market
research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1 million people
because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows people to have
the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own country because of
world trade. Some countries do not have the ability to create certain goods domestically, such as
mangoes, avocados, bananas, papayas, etc.

Book Report On The Japanese Tales
In the Japanese Tales, translated by Royall Tyler, the observation that snakes function as agents
of karma is valid. In order to teach this Buddhist theme, snakes can be portrayed with a broad
range of abilities and personalities to maintain a system of cosmic justice. Consequently, the
imagery of snakes is seen as complex and paradoxical from tale to tale through their ways of
delivering justices. However, snakes are not only agents of karma, but can also be agents to teach
the consequence of sexual desires. This essay will show the complex characterization of snakes in
order to express the consequences for certain behaviors such as dishonesty, lack of devotion to
Buddhism, and lust.
While snakes are seen as agents of karma in Red Heat, they are also portrayed as a creature with
strong vengeful and evil personality toward those who express dishonesty and lack of devotion
to Buddhist vows. As illustrated in Red Heat, a pair of monks sets themselves up for karmic
repercussions by accepting hospitality from a lustful widow. This gives a chance for the widow
to target one of the monks to be her sexual partner, which placed the monk in a situation to
commit more misdeeds. The monks behavior demonstrates a lack of devotion to protecting their
vow to remain in chaste, which was to stay away from sexual interactions with women (Tyler
160). When the sexual pursuit occurred, the monk told the widow, If I suddenly break my vow, we
ll suffer (Tyler 160).

Similarities Between Judith And Her Maidservant
The painting Judith and Her Maidservant with the head of Holofernes was painted by the Italian

Judith, a widow, tricking an opposing leader, Holofernes, during a war. Judith and her maidservant

passes out. While he is passed out, Judith and her maidservant decapitates Holofernes thus defeating

rounded and proportionate to her body and face. The folds of the tent s cloth and the clothes

arms, and waists. For example, on the maidservants arm her sleeves not only appropriately look
rolled up but they also atomically match the maidservant s arm. However, I feel like the realism is
lost when it comes to the candle and Judith s sword. They look quite dull compared to the human
figures and cloth in the painting, making them look very simplistic. The light used in the painting
is done very well, showing that there can only be so much light coming from one candle, which
makes the lighting very natural. In my opinion, the light represents the pure and misogynistic views
towards women. These views see women as people that can t do wrong, seeing women only as kind
or maternal beings. The dim or unlit parts of the painting, specifically the maidservant hiding

Several examples in history include Martin Luther King Jr. s decision to fight for civil rights and
Elizabeth Cady Stanton s decision to start the Women s Suffrage Movement. The poem, The
Waitress depicts a waitress who demonstrates courage and freedom outside the stereotypical image
of a woman. For instance, Collins states where they have removed their jackets, their aprons and
bowties, and now they are having a cigarette(501) . This quote describes a scenario of a women s
gathering after their work shift. In this scenario, the initially polite and reserved waitress is now
being portrayed as a woman who indulges in uncharacteristically opposing activities, like smoking
a cigarette. Additionally, smoking a cigarette is also considerably masculine, which symbolizes a
woman s refusal to conform to societal expectations. This sudden transformation from a waitress to
her true self demonstrates the urge that women have to defend their rights and stay true to
themselves. Although this behavior was initially frowned upon, an increasing amount of people
are becoming accepting of women and other minority groups/social classes. In today s society,
more women are offered job opportunities and earning higher wages. Nowadays, people are no
longer judged by their gender or ethnicity, but rather their skill set. Additionally, many minority
groups, like the elderly, LGBT, and low income families are receiving better opportunities in life,

The Great Importance of the Final Episode of Huckleberry Finn
One of the things many critics of Huckleberry Finn just can t
seem to understand is the final episode of the novel where Tom returns
and sidetracks Huck from his rescue of Jim through a long series of
silly, boyish plans based on ideas Tom has picked up from Romantic novels,
such as those of Walter Scott. Critic Stephen Railton dismisses these
final chapters as just another version of their Royal Nonesuch (405);
referring, of course, to the silly play put on by the Duke and Dauphin in
chapter 23. From one point of view, this whole evasion sequence seems

For one, Stephen
Railton says Jim s role is haplessly comic (401). Several critics argue that Jim
fits into the stereotypical figure of the black face minstrel shows
popular at the time (Carey Webb 24) (an accusation with profound repercussions,
to be addressed shortly). And remember how most of Twains books
until this one, such as The Innocents Abroad and Roughing It , were
comic travel books. And it also seems likely that Twain is satirizing
Romanticism (another possible idea to be addressed later).
However, despite the humor (or maybe because of it), the book
remains very serious. As V. S. Pritchett puts it, The curious thing
about Huckleberry Finn is that, although it is one of the funniest books
in all literature and really astonishing in the variety of its farce and
character, we are even more moved than we are amused by it (307). Pritchett
goes on to say, The value of a native humor like Twain s
is that it expresses a profound reality in human nature: the ability
of man to adjust himself to circumstance and to live somehow (307).
There is truth in comedy. Comedians can tell us brutal realities that
dramatist cannot. As Pritchett explains later, The subject of

What Is Calypso s Role In The Odyssey
Despite Calypso being a character who defies typical constraints, she is not always the model of
a defiant woman. In spite of the fact that she is repeatedly used by Homer to show disobedience
against the role that is expected of her, she still shows characteristics of a normal female
character in an epic poem. When Hermes comes to visit her, she sets a table with ambrosia and a
bowl of rosy nectar (Homer, p. 386). Setting the table for a man is a sign of respect and shows
that she accepts her role of catering towards the opposite sex. This is a crucial moment as Calypso
has continuously shown contempt for a womans conventional duties. When she is introduced, she
is described as sitting in her home singing in a lovely voice as she wove at her loom with a
golden shuttle (Homer, p. 386). The loom is a direct symbol of a tamed woman, reiterated by
Penelope s extensive use of it throughout the epic. When Homer describes Calypso on her loom, he
refers to her as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end both women serve the purpose of being secondary characters to Odysseus: without him
they would not be important to the story. The epic poem is ultimately about Odysseus s journey
home, and both women represent different aspects of that journey. Homer brings more so into
focus the idea that women have the competence to be more than just housewives, but this ability is
dangerous and negative. Calypso, whose behavior continuously strays away from what is
expected, symbolizes a form of darkness and evil while Penelope is seen as a virtuous character
representing the model wife. The complex way that Homer describes female characters in The
Odyssey is not necessarily to show that women are capable of more than is expected of them, but
rather to serve as a warning of the independent, authoritative woman all while praising the domestic

Levitt And Dubner s Arguments For The Legalization Of Crime
In my opinion, I believe that Levitt and Dubner both made a very strong argument when they spoke
about the possible cause(s) of decline of criminal and abortion rates within Chapter 4. The reason
that Levitt and Dubner made such a strong argument within this chapter is due to the fact that they
were very informative with their examples and statistics, and even included a short backstory at the
beginning to make the readers aware of the situation at hand. At the beginning of the book, the
introduction also shortly speaks of the prediction of the rise in criminal rates and how they would
continue to rise over the next several years. What caught the criminologists and experts by surprise
was that instead of rising crimerates the crime began... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main reasons behind the drop in crime rates was the legalization of birth control laws.
When children are born without a mother, a caring family, and a decent place to live in, their
chances of becoming a criminal increase due to the lack of love and care during their early
childhood years. Levitt and Dubner stated that Legalized abortion led to less unwantedness;
unwantedness leads to high crimes; legalized abortion, therefore, led to less crime (Levitt, 139).
In order to test this theory to prove whether or not legalizing abortion would decrease the crime
rates, some states had to act as early legalizing states that supported the legalization of abortion.
Between 1988 and 1994, violent crime in the early legalizing states fell 13 percent compared to
the other states; between 1994 and 1997, their murder rates fell 23 percent more than those of
other states (Levitt, 140). Once the few early legalizing states took action and legalized abortion
laws, the crime rates began to plummet. From my perspective, because of Levitt and Dubner s
extensive use of facts and statistics to support the reasoning behind the disappearance of criminals,
they were able to

technology and the workforce Essay
Should we hold back technology to protect the unskilled workforce?
Since the beginning of time, people have made and used tools to make everyday life simpler. The
car was a major breakthrough for transporting people as well as goods and services. The conveyor
belt also helped production rates for manufacturing, allowing the work force to finish goods almost
10 times faster. The workforce benefits with new technology, some may argue that new technology
hurts the workforce. Colleges and universities provided the necessary training for potential
employees to be able to embrace technological changes. Vocational training also provides potential
employees with the tools needed to survive the technological changes. It is important to note that ...

Student loans are also difficult to obtain and interest rates are high too. Furthermore, some students
are not encouraged to attend college, based on their family environment and socioeconomic status.
While everyone may not be able to go to college, more people are able to attend than before.
Many high schools offer vocational trainings and programs that allow students to obtain trades and
skills, without even having to go to college, which allows them to be successful in the workplace.
Computer technology is one of the most common advancements in the workplace. Many school
systems post homework on line and require students to regularly use Microsoft Office. It should be
mandatory that high school curriculums teach the latest technologies, so the students are prepared
to enter the workforce, whether or not they attend college. The younger generation also uses cell
phones, tablets, and MP3 players, so their ability to adapt to change happens socially as well.
Technology is constantly changing (Weiss et al 10), so just because someone goes to college and
is considered skill, a new advancement may quickly make them unskilled.
We should not hold back technology from the workforce just because employees are outdated . If
we would have held back making and producing the car, car technology would not be as advanced
as it is today. The conveyer belt helped us in the production of goods. If we didn t have the
conveyer belt, where

The Great Outdoors Research Paper
The great outdoors is a story of a very memorable camping trip. This story takes place at Curt
Gowdy State Park in Cheyenne, Wyoming. My grandma and grandpa invited me (I am 7) and
my sister (Marissa who is 13 at the time) to go camping with them because they just got a fifth
wheel. We got packed up and started the drive down. Let s just say that my grandpa isn t exactly
the best driver. It involved almost running into the mailbox, driving too close to the oncoming lane,
taking too wide of a turn, and going too fast on the highway. After the eventful drive, we got
unpacked and made it just in time for lunch. She found a great spot right along the lake. It was
right by the bathrooms and secluded so we set up camp. While our grandparents were getting
everything together, my sister and I went exploring. The first place we checked out was the
bathrooms. I went into the men s and she went into the women s. After about ten seconds, I come
out yelling and my sister comes crashing out of the bathroom and asks what is wrong. I just found
a dead squirrel! I yelled.
She asked where it was and I eagerly led her to the stall with the squirrel in the toilet. After that we

Well, it turns out my grandpa wanted to some more fishing before we left so him and Marissa,

around looking for me. I specifically remember when I was sitting in the truck and watched my
grandma walk by yelling my name but made no move to tell her where I was. While I was
enjoying my book and my grandma was out searching for me, Marissa caught a fish on my pole.
Technically, I could call it my fish but she wouldn t let it fly. After that, we put the fish in a cooler,

The Demise Of The Tobacco Smoking
What some are calling a new fad, may very well be the answer to the demise of the tobacco
smoking epidemic. While it is not likely to happen any time soon, it definitely has the potential.
Electronic cigarettes, also known as vaporizers, are the better alternative to smoking traditional
tobacco cigarettes. They contain less harmful chemicals, are less expensive, and provide a smoother
transition from smokingcigarettes to not smoking at all. It is difficult to comprehend why
generation after generation of people continue to smoke cigarettes despite the fact they are fully
aware of the detrimental effects of the behavior.
Cigarette smoking has been an addictive human habit for more than 600 years and even dates back
to 5000 B.C. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the diagram below shows, the tobacco rod is covered by the cigarette paper. The filter plug is
shrouded by the plug wrap paper, and both are joined together by the tipping paper. King size
cigarettes are typically around 80 mm long and 8 mm in diameter, while containing around 750
mg of tobacco. Filter lengths range 25 30 mm. When the end of a cigarette burns, the smoke from
the combustion moves through the unburned tobacco and filter, then inhaled into the user s
mouth and lungs. Some of the most dangerous elements of smoking are a product of the
combustion. Electronic cigarettes can come in many different shapes and sizes and can be
realistic looking or can be in larger forms with batteries and larger tanks. They all use the same
basic concept as the diagram below shows. When an e cigarette is triggered (either by an inhale or
with a button press) the battery connected to the heating element (atomizer) boils a tiny amount of
liquid (e liquid). This creates a vapor which is inhaled by the user. At no point is anything burned
through the process of combustion so no smoke/ash/tar is ever created (Project Vape).
The most obvious reason for kicking the smoking habit, or never picking it up, is the ridiculous
amount of toxic chemicals found in a cigarette or cigarette smoke. There are over 4000 known
chemicals in some form of the cigarette. The most dangerous of the chemicals would be the

The Architecture Of Gothic Architecture
Known for its pointed arches, flying buttresses, and detailed tracery, Gothic architecture emerged in
12th century northern France, and the style continued into the 16th century . Gothic architecture

King Afonso Pestel Influence Essay
The Portuguese presence in King Afonso s kingdom had many detrimental effects, including ones
derived from the trade of excess goods, illegal slavery, and disease. According to King Afonso, the
Portuguese coming into the Kongo undermined his authority when they they gave away a profusion
of goods. Portuguese officials were allowing merchants to set up shops and sell goods that were
prohibited, and this was done in such abundance that the people lower than the King no longer
obeyed the authority, because they possessed more of the items than the authority themselves. In
his letter, Afonso mentioned that ...many of our vassals, whom we had in obedience, do not comply
because they have the things in greater abundance than we ourselves... (paragraph... Show more

The Portuguese also debilitated the King s authority by establishing a corrupted, out of control
slave trade. At first, King Afonso had welcomed business and the trading of slaves. But as time
went on, the Portuguese took things too far. Afonso makes a huge point of this in his letter,
writing ...the mentioned merchants are taking every day our natives, sons of the land and the
sons of our noblemen and vassals and our relatives...and so great, Sir, is the corruption and
licentiousness that our country is being completely depopulated... (paragraph two). Instead of
taking and selling people of no importance in his kingdom, the Portuguese were taking noblemen
and other respected people as slaves. It was this horrific act that infuriated King Afonso, and his
kingdom would have soon be desolate of people if this type of slave trade continued. The
disadvantageous effects didn t stop there with the Portuguese, for they were also sending a lot of
civilians over to the Kongo that brought with them disease and sickness. The people of King
Afonso s kingdom had no way of being immune to these illnesses, and according to him this was an
enormous disservice to

raises the number of missions, illegally, just to achieve his goals to become a general of the
military (Jordan 2). Milo is a person of the novel that represents greed and avarice, he has no
morals except for being a clever businessman, and he owns his own enterprise, the M M

one for the Junior High. The Edge program, which is the youth group as a whole, consists of
dividing the students into young teen and senior teen. Every Sunday night the youth group meets
from 6pm to 7:45pm. Ryan Moline is the youthpastor of the young teens, he has split the youth
group into the 7th and 8th graders which meet on Sunday nights and 5th and 6th graders that meet
on Wednesday nights. I decided to visit with the 7th and 8th graders on Sunday night. My choice

After a few games the went back and worshiped and Ryan spoke on Moses. Then the group split
up into there small groups and discussed some of the things Ryan spoke about, the girls I sat
with were very interested and this gave them time to process the story and understand it. I
thoroughly enjoyed the service overall and I really enjoyed the fact that the kids welcomed me
and and the leaders as well. Ryan Moline and I sat down before the service and I got to ask him
some questions about the youth group and himself. He graduated from Spring Arbor University and
while going there he volunteered at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church working with the youth
group. He has now been a fulltime pastor of the young teens for 3 years making his total amount
of time there 6 and a half years. Being the pastor of the young teens he mostly spends time
preparing for the Sunday night youth group and the Wednesday night youth group: making up
lessons, planning games, making sure he has all the leaders he needs, and setting up the outline
for the night. He also plans the youth groups retreat or mission trip they are having that year.
Finally, he also is looking ahead for the year, this means coming up with general ideas for the
months, figuring out what they will talk about and when they will talk about it. While getting to
know Ryan, I asked him about his calling into ministry; when did he get is calling, was there a

  • 2. Landscaping Ideas Coming home to a resort style garden is like being on vacation every day of the year. Outdoor areas are often the last to receive design attention, but they shouldn t be: What surrounds your home is just as important as what s in it. Well designed landscaping ideas can complement your home s architectural design, and the right plants and flowers can greatly enhance your curb appeal by adding color, texture and even fragrance to your yard. Foliage and Trees For the most part, tropical gardens rely on foliage rather than flowers to create interest year round. Combine lively and colorful easy care plants that wont triple your water bill and plant them in groups of odd numbers (three, five, seven, etc.) to create a broad stroke of color and texture. ... • 3. Astrology And Greek Mythology . Whether astrology is accepted as true has yet to be determined. For centuries, astrology has been used to provide a deeper understanding of nature and identity. Astrology originates from Babylon developing from the belief that the heavens ruled man s fate. The Babylonians were the first to apply myths to constellations and astrology. The Egyptians refined the Babylonian system of astrology and the Greeks shaped it into its modern form. It was through studyings of Plato, Aristotle and others that Babylonian astrology was introduced to the Greeks in the 4th century B.C.. The Greeks borrowed the occasional component from the Babylonian structure in order to invent their own system. It is the Greeks who ... Providing partial reasoning for the popularity of astrology is social media and the ability of networking to reach a large number of people. Courtesy of social media, astrology has been turned into a meme. Astrologist and astrology meme generators collect followers by categorizing signs as literally anything, from cat breeds to hair aesthetics. Despite being turned into a joke by modern technology, prominent figures that have researched astrology with great depth have made a science out of it. • 4. The Molecular Mechanism Of Disease Development Essay HS is a severe and chronic inflammatory disease with a devastating negative impact on the quality of life. Unraveling the molecular mechanism of disease development is an important step towards curing this chronic disease. To our knowledge, no published study has focused on an epigenetic approach in HS using a genome wide high density methylation array. In the current study, CpG level methylation statuses were obtained using Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChips for DNA samples from HS subjects and normal controls. This enabled us to characterize differentially methylated regions involved in HS pathogenesis and identify novel DNA methylation markers that have not previously been reported with aberrant methylation in association with HS. A ROC AUC ≥0.75 is generally characteristic of a good biomarker, and an AUC ≥0.9 represents an excellent biomarker. In the present study, we have identified 304 CpG markers, all with an ROC AUC ≥0.75 and many with excellent diagnostic accuracy for the prediction of HS status; most of them have not been investigated at the functional level. These 304 CpG sites on 304 genes are spread across noncoding and coding, exonic, promoter and intronic regions with the largest number (32%) in the intron of the gene, further emphasizing the importance of gene regulation by intronic sequences. Many of these hypermethylated sites contain an open chromatin conformation and are occupied with a number of transcription factors, further suggesting that these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brazil has evolved from being a foreign aid recipient and less developed nation of the past, to become a major foreign aid provider in recent years. This fact places this emerging country in a unique and interesting position as both a donor and recipient as of 2010 records reveal and Brazil s donor status is on the increase since this new middle of the road development status for this intriguing country emerged. Colonists asked the British for their rights, but no, the British would not give them their rights. Britain was a horrible country, and they didn t listen to the Colonists, although they were usually right.Following the French and Indian War, King George the third wrote the surprising Proclamation of 1763. The Proclamation stated that the new western frontier that the colonists won actually belonged to the indians and the colonists could not settle past a line of the Appalachian mountains. The law was passed because the Natives claimed that the western frontier actually belonged to them, although the Natives weren t using the land. The Quartering act of 1765 , A big part of the Revolution came next. Colonists were forced to house, feed and bed British Soldiers. Thomas Gage, a military governor, protested against the wicked parliament, but unfortunately, it didn t go his way. Colonists had little money to pay for things for themselves, no less a stupid soldiers needs.Colonists had to keep the soldiers needs satisfied and they had to do unfair things, like give up their own bed for a soldier. Should Schools Keep Junk Food Keep junk foods in school cafeterias The controversial topic of childhood obesity has been going on for a long time and because of it, many schools are debating if they should ban junk food from school cafeterias or not. There are many opinions on what step should be taken to solve this problem. Some say too ban junk food and some say it should not be banned. It should be up to the kids and the parents as too what kids eat and not the government. By banning junk food in one place doesn t mean it s going to stop them from eating sugary foods they can get it from another place. One of the reasons why junk food should not be banned from school cafeteriais because the cafeteria isn t the only source kids have too unhealthy foods. Kids in school can go just around the block to the gas station or minimart and buy all sorts of junk foods, probably even more than what they can buy in school from vending machines and the lunch lines combined. Like Rosenthal said, at some open campus schools have made it a practice to walk to nearby mini marts and gas stations to buy the same products they used to purchase in the vending machines (9). This quote tells us that campuses have made it easier for students to go out during school and or afterschool to purchase the junk food they want. A school administration recently did an experiment to see if students could purchase individual food and beverage items, either from vending machines, school store, canteen, snack bar or a la carte ... • 9. Battle Of The Wilderness Essay The Battle of the Wilderness was the first part of a major offensive strategy by a new Union General in Chief, Ulysses S. Grant. Grant never planned to fight the Confederates at this time. His main goal was to begin marching towards the Confederate capital, Richmond, Virginia. This was all part of Grant s plan known as the Overland Campaign. The overall goal was to keep Confederate Commander Robert E. Lees famous Northern Virginia Army occupied with defending their capital so that Lee would not be able to send soldiers to stop the another Union army from invading Georgia. Therefore, Grant only wanted to get to the Confederate capital of Richmond. However, while trying to slip by Lee, Grant got his army caught up in a fight in a dangerous area... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Grant had 115,000 soldiers and Lee had only 65,000 troops, knowledge of the dangerous terrain could become more valuable than the number of troops. The actual battle began the morning of May 5th, 1864. The fighting was wild and chaotic due to the thick undergrowth and many trees making it nearly impossible for one man to move swiftly, forget about an entire army. There were men on both sides who got so lost that they accidentally went into enemy camps and were taken as prisoners. Many of the wounded fell into the thick undergrowth and got stuck, later being burned and killed by fires due to rifle fire. When night arrived, the battle was inconclusive, meaning neither side had a clear winner. However, the Union managed to gain a position in which they could attack Lee s right wing. Grant ordered for them to attack at 4 am the next morning. So ends the first day. On the second day of the battle, May 6th, 1864, reinforcements arrived for both sides. The Union s planned attack on Lee s army was slightly postponed from 4am to a little later than 5am so that commanders could have more time to organize their troops after the previous day s fierce ... Bitter Is The New Black Analysis Bitter is the New Black I chose to read the first in a series of memoirs authored by Jen Lancaster, Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a condescending, egomaniacal, self centered smart ass, or why you should never carry a Prada Bag to the unemployment office. The memoir goes into details about how her life drastically changed after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. The largest change being that she was terminated from her place of work, making her lavish way of living no longer obtainable. Throughout the entirety of the memoir Lancaster did not hold back any of her thoughts, making her tone very relatable. • 14. Dorothea Lange And The Farm Security Agency Essay Dorothea Lange and the Farm Security Agency: From 1935 1944, the photographic program of the Farm Security Administration, embarked on a nationwide quest to document, collect and create a pictorial record of American life during the 1930s and 1940s. Spanning all fifty states, the photographers produced more than 175,000 black and white negatives, crafting one of the most immense and important photographic compositions in American history. Created by the federal government, the photography project spanned several government agencies, from the Resettlement Administration, the Farm Security Administration, and the Office of War Information. Although the photographic program of the Farm Security Administration was initially aimed at supporting the New Deal, the images produced had far more reaching sociological and cultural impacts, all the while redefining the art of photography. Ever since the camera was invented in 1839, the very nature of photography has been questioned. With the increasing advent of photographic technology, photography has become an egalitarian expression of society and community. With one press of a button, an image is captured for eternity, bringing to question the inherent artistic quality of photographs. If we can so quickly capture an image, can this be deemed art? Art is to promote fantasy, and dream, to incite anger and joy. Thus, surely photography is an art, as seen through its capturing of beautiful verdant landscapes, and the horrendous ... • 15. Descartes Position Of Epistemology Epistemology examines the power of knowledge in a variety of subjects, such nature and human behaviour. Epistemological solipsism is the theory of this knowledge, which brings forth the idea that the only mind any person can only be certain of, is his or her own mind. Descartes spent a great deal of focus on the mind, and is probably most famous for his conclusion of I think, therefore I exist . But what does he mean when he says I think , and how does it relate to this theory that the only mind an individual can be certain of is their own? This paper will divulge into the basis of Descartes statement, as well as discuss the proposition of Descartes position of epistemological solipsism, to explain Descartes position of the multiple methods of knowledge and truths.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He begins by with the premise of the testimony of others, and outlines numerous ways in which accepting the testimony of others can be detrimental. He also makes an analogy to beeswax as a human body in order to add to his explanation of the physical and sensory worlds. Descartes uses his perceptions of the sensory world, and the ability to doubt the existence and thought of everything around him. Through this doubt, he is able to deduce that there is the ability to be certain of one thing: that the only mind he can be certain of is his own. These proofs work for the position Descartes has with regards to epistemological solipsism, while demonstrating that his proposition can be proven to be sound through the level of thought he had put into developing this proposition. It is because Descartes holds a high value to knowledge, as well as understanding the source of this knowledge, that he can be seen as an epistemological solipsist. By allowing himself to question the ideas that he had not previously doubted, he was able to expand his mind, and arrive to the conclusions outlines in both Meditations One and ... An African folk groove enriched with wha wha infusions, vibraphone melodic inspiration, and eccentric soprano drives are keys to turning Life is Limitless in an elated celebration. • 17. Comparing The Walking Man And T. E. U. L. A. Dinan Guan Art History 23 Modern Art Dis 1J Fixed Dynamism Two sculptures, among others, lie in the outskirts of the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden at UCLA. One of them, The Walking Man, is a bronze sculpture created by French sculptor Auguste Rodin in 1905. The other, made more than 100 years later, is T.E.U.C.L.A., a large scale steel sculpturemade by minimalist sculptor Richard Serra. Although it may seem like these works have more differences than similarities, both emphasize the processes of their creation and are major movements away from the classical tradition of sculpture. However, The Walking Man and T.E.U.C.L.A. also differ in several aspects that reflect their respective artists personal portrayals of modern sculpture. These aspects include: mode of production, composition and the arrangement of volumes, the play of light and shadow, and visual experience. Together these elements of formal organization work together to convey meaning in both of these works. Rodin s deliberate rejection of refinement and disregard for the direct translation of the unformed to formed in The Walking Man represent the process and spontaneity of reality, while Serra s use of curvature and aperture in T.E.U.C.L.A. models the spaces people move through and the perceptive skills they use in life and nature. Netflix Documentary Conventions Although Netflix has brought significant improvements on the publication and production of documentaries, it remains a massive American profit making business that does not follow the conventions of documentary filmmaking. As Lin Tay and Hudson explain, new media platforms such as Netflix, disrupt the linear structures conventionally ascribed to documentary (79). Many traditional documentarians and genre theorists are arguing about modern documentaries level of realness. The kidneys and bladder filter the blood to make Urine. A urinary catheter is a thin tube placed in the bladder to drain urine. Urine drains through the tube into a bag where the urinecollects. When the whole system is compromised, a patient can become very ill. A catheterprovides a link between the outside environment and a usually sterile system. Now that the catheter is in place, microorganisms are no longer removed by normal voiding. Germs do not usually live in the region of the urinary system, but when they are re introduced through the absence of voiding, infection becomes a problem. A urinary catheter may be used when you cannot urinate on your own, to measure the amount of urine you produce, during and after certain types of surgery and during testing of the urinary system. Health care associated infections(HAIs) are an on going issue, specifically the prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Simply put, those with catheters have a higher chance of obtaining a CAUTI than patients who do not. CAUTI is the most frequent type of HAI, and represents as much as 80% of HAIs in hospitals.(The Joint Commission, 2011) This high occurrence of infection in hospitals creates a high concern in patient centered care. After tax money is contributed to the Roth IRA, therefore the investor does not receive income tax money back at the end of the year, but the beauty of the Roth IRA is that when the money is withdrawn at the time of retirement (age 70), the profit is completely tax free, both state and federal (rothirarules.net, 2011). After saying the I do s and committing to each other, couples may want to take the step toward homeownership, requiring another type of commitment: the mortgage. When two people open a mortgage together, one is named the primary borrower and the other the secondary borrower. Determining who will be the primary and secondary borrowers depends on the type of joint mortgage opened and whether the borrowers are co owners or co signers. • 33. Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their countries. According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately 35.6% of all clothing and shoes sold in the United Stateswere actually manufactured in China, compared to just 3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the globalization of the economy for not only domestic economic growth, but also international economic growth. Some people think globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy among people and nations. However, it creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First of all, even though globalization has made the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer, the globalization of the economy can influence many people positively. Through international trade, people can acquire cheaper goods and services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour are cheaper in developing countries, businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if they were made domestically. As a result, we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies which produce cell phones, televisions, and other electronic devices built factories in China and Vietnam to manufacture their products. In addition to obtaining cheap goods and services, globalization can contribute to more job opportunities overseas. Increased globalization influences the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people can get new jobs which were not popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific jobs, such as market research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1 million people because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows people to have the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own country because of world trade. In order to teach this Buddhist theme, snakes can be portrayed with a broad range of abilities and personalities to maintain a system of cosmic justice. Consequently, the imagery of snakes is seen as complex and paradoxical from tale to tale through their ways of delivering justices. However, snakes are not only agents of karma, but can also be agents to teach the consequence of sexual desires. This essay will show the complex characterization of snakes in order to express the consequences for certain behaviors such as dishonesty, lack of devotion to Buddhism, and lust. While snakes are seen as agents of karma in Red Heat, they are also portrayed as a creature with strong vengeful and evil personality toward those who express dishonesty and lack of devotion to Buddhist vows. As illustrated in Red Heat, a pair of monks sets themselves up for karmic repercussions by accepting hospitality from a lustful widow. This gives a chance for the widow to target one of the monks to be her sexual partner, which placed the monk in a situation to commit more misdeeds. The monks behavior demonstrates a lack of devotion to protecting their vow to remain in chaste, which was to stay away from sexual interactions with women (Tyler 160). When Hermes comes to visit her, she sets a table with ambrosia and a bowl of rosy nectar (Homer, p. 386). Setting the table for a man is a sign of respect and shows that she accepts her role of catering towards the opposite sex. Levitt and Dubner stated that Legalized abortion led to less unwantedness; unwantedness leads to high crimes; legalized abortion, therefore, led to less crime (Levitt, 139). In order to test this theory to prove whether or not legalizing abortion would decrease the crime rates, some states had to act as early legalizing states that supported the legalization of abortion. Between 1988 and 1994, violent crime in the early legalizing states fell 13 percent compared to the other states; between 1994 and 1997, their murder rates fell 23 percent more than those of other states (Levitt, 140). Once the few early legalizing states took action and legalized abortion laws, the crime rates began to plummet. From my perspective, because of Levitt and Dubner s extensive use of facts and statistics to support the reasoning behind the disappearance of criminals, they were able to ... Student loans are also difficult to obtain and interest rates are high too. Furthermore, some students are not encouraged to attend college, based on their family environment and socioeconomic status. While everyone may not be able to go to college, more people are able to attend than before. Many high schools offer vocational trainings and programs that allow students to obtain trades and skills, without even having to go to college, which allows them to be successful in the workplace. Computer technology is one of the most common advancements in the workplace. Many school systems post homework on line and require students to regularly use Microsoft Office. It should be mandatory that high school curriculums teach the latest technologies, so the students are prepared to enter the workforce, whether or not they attend college. The younger generation also uses cell phones, tablets, and MP3 players, so their ability to adapt to change happens socially as well. Technology is constantly changing (Weiss et al 10), so just because someone goes to college and is considered skill, a new advancement may quickly make them unskilled. We should not hold back technology from the workforce just because employees are outdated . If we would have held back making and producing the car, car technology would not be as advanced as it is today. The conveyer belt helped us in the production of goods. Let s just say that my grandpa isn t exactly the best driver. It involved almost running into the mailbox, driving too close to the oncoming lane, taking too wide of a turn, and going too fast on the highway. After the eventful drive, we got unpacked and made it just in time for lunch. She found a great spot right along the lake. It was right by the bathrooms and secluded so we set up camp. While our grandparents were getting everything together, my sister and I went exploring. The first place we checked out was the bathrooms. I went into the men s and she went into the women s. After about ten seconds, I come out yelling and my sister comes crashing out of the bathroom and asks what is wrong. I just found a dead squirrel! I yelled. When an e cigarette is triggered (either by an inhale or with a button press) the battery connected to the heating element (atomizer) boils a tiny amount of liquid (e liquid). This creates a vapor which is inhaled by the user. At no point is anything burned through the process of combustion so no smoke/ash/tar is ever created (Project Vape). According to King Afonso, the Portuguese coming into the Kongo undermined his authority when they they gave away a profusion of goods. Portuguese officials were allowing merchants to set up shops and sell goods that were prohibited, and this was done in such abundance that the people lower than the King no longer obeyed the authority, because they possessed more of the items than the authority themselves. (paragraph two). Instead of taking and selling people of no importance in his kingdom, the Portuguese were taking noblemen and other respected people as slaves. It was this horrific act that infuriated King Afonso, and his kingdom would have soon be desolate of people if this type of slave trade continued.
