Early Language Observation Paper
The ability of a child to acquire language requires input from a variety of factors. The social
interactionist perspective emphasizes the importance of both environmental factors and a child s
innate disposition to make sense of language. These are factors that directly coincide with the
purpose of the Early Literacy Assessment (SELA). The classroom I observed is an Pre
Kindergarten classroom in which 15 children occupy. The environment although containing various
areas the overall ambience seems crowded. The classroom provides some evidence of print
awareness with a purpose. Labeling with intended purpose seems very minimal and children seem
unaware of the print displayed. The only varying types of print available in the... Show more content

The teacher provided the children to identify some letters in the print but does not provide
opportunity for all the children to become engaged in the activity. The teacher did take some
opportunity to draw the childrens attention to the sounds in words but the children were not
motivated to complete the activity. The activity seemed rushed and the children seemed to think the
activity was drawn out. Some other activities that were observed in the classroom seemed to
promote letter recognition. Children were encouraged to identify letters on their mat and match
them to their lower case letters. Although the activity had a goal in mind there was no opportunity
for the children to discuss and there was little opportunity for the activity to be extended. Another
activity available was a drawing activity where the children were able to draw a picture of their
favorite animalsThe teacher shared that they can use their mouths and lips to say each word to help
them identify the beginning letter sounds. After discussing with the teacher the activities in the
classroom she shared that she has been incorporating an abundance of fine motor skill activities and
has found that language activities are provided but not on a consistent timeline. Home school
projects were also discussed and she shared that activities were sent home monthly to encourage
parents to have a much more hands on role in their childs literacy skills. Newsletters are also sent

18th Century Ottoman Essay
Honors College History 232
23 January 2013
Eighteenth Century Ottoman Empire The Ottoman Empire was a state founded by Turkish tribes
under Osman Bey in 1299. Under the leadership of Mehmed II, this fledgling nation became an
empire with the conquest of Constantinople in 1452 by Mehmed II. The Ottoman Empire continued
in its imperial form until it became the Republic of Turkey in 1923. As an empire, it was the most
powerful state in the world with 32 provinces during the seventeenth century. In the last half of the
seventeenth century, the Ottoman Empire functioned under the rule of the Koprulu family, a
notable family of imperial bureaucrats from Albania who overhauled the bureaucracy and instituted
military reforms. After the fall of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Janissary corps distinct social class and special privileges soon brought more harm than good
to the Sultans of the eighteenth Century. The group of men grew corrupt and lived above the law.
Not even the poor were given mercy. A prime example of this can be found in Lady Montague s
Turkish Embassy Letters, where the janissaries slaughter and feast on the poor s livestock then
require the households to pay teeth money. The lawlessness of these men grew so unbearable that
Lady Montague also observes and writes about, how tis the Emperor s interest to flatter [the
janissaries] (Montagu, 105). The groups power became unchecked and tension between the Sultans
and janissaries magnified.
Ahmed III was the first ruler of the eighteenth century. His close ties to the European rulers lead
to prosperous relations with the French and Swedish. Ahmed, during his reign, afforded refuge
to Charles XII of Sweden after the Swedish defeat under the hands of Peter I of Russia in the
Battle of Poltava of 1709. In response to the Swedish defeat, Ahmed declared war against Russia
and won the Ottoman Empire s most notorious victory over Russia. Never before had the Ottoman
forces come so near to breaking the Russian power. The invasion, however, was halted in response
to the incursion of Safavids. Aside from the war, Ahmed left the finances of the Empire in a
flourishing state

Scope
Case Analysis:
Scope, a green mint tasting mouthwash, was positions as a great tasting mouth refreshing brand
that provided bad breath protection. It is the first brand that offers both effective protection against
bad breath and a better taste than other mouthwashes.
Scope was introduced in 1967 by Procter gamble, which is one of the most successful companies
in the world. P G philosophy is to provide superior quality and value that best fills the needs of the
consumers; it was recognized as a leader in the Canadian packaged good industry.
P G Canada has five operating divisions, organized by product category. The divisions and some of

So her specific task was to prepare a marketing plan for P G mouthwash business for the next 3
years. In preparing the 3 year plan for Scope, a team has been formed within P G to examine various
options, the team included individuals from product development, manufacturing, sales, finance,
market research and advertising operations. The team was faced by two options that are: 1
Launching a new line extension positioned against Plax as a recent entry into the market. 2
Looking at claims other than breath that might be used by scope such as plaque reduction.
In the case of product development, product tests were made on Scope, product development
department has demonstrated that Scope reduced plaque better than brushing alone because of the
antibacterial ingredients in it. So the PDD has recently developed a new pre brushing rinse
product that performed as well as Plax but didn t work any better than Plax in removing plaque.
The key benefit of this recently launched product is that it tastes better than Plax. However, PDD s
preference was to not launch a new product, but instead to add plaque reduction claims to Scope.
Since the basic argument was that it is better to protect the business that P G was already in, than to
launch a completely new entry.
As for the case of sales, the sales people had noticed that

this study, three and six unit thermal power plant is considered which is solved for two different
cases with and without losses. Vo Ngoc Dieu [16], proposed an augmented Lagrange Hopfield
network (ALHN) for real power dispatch on large scale power systems. The proposed ALHN is a
continuous Hopfield network with its energy function based on augmented Lagrange function. For
this combination, the ALHN method can easily deal with large scale problems with nonlinear
constraints. The proposed ALHN has been tested on systems from 40 units to 240 units, IEEE 118
bus and IEEE 300 bus systems, and the obtained results have been compared to those from other
methods. The test results have shown that the ALHN method can obtain better solutions than the
com¬pared methods in a very fast manner. Therefore, the proposed ALHN could be favorable for
implementation on the real power dispatch problems for large scale systems. The proposed ALHN
has been tested on differ¬ent systems with large number of generating units and buses for two
cases neglecting power loss and including power loss in transmission system. Serhat

Amendments To The United States Bill Of Rights 1689
. The Bill of Rights 1689 is largely a statement of certain positive rights that its authors considered
that citizens and/or residents of a free and democratic society ought to have. It asserts the Subject s
right to petition the Monarch and the Subject s right to bear arms for defense. It also sets out
certain constitutional requirements where the actions of the Crown require the consent of the
governed as represented in Parliament. In this respect, it differs from other bills of rights, including
the United States Bill of Rights, though many elements of the first eight amendments to the United
States Constitutionecho its contents. This is in part due to the un codified constitutional traditions of
the United Kingdom, whereby the English

The Subtext Of Sonnet 130 By William Shakespeare
In the 21st century, literature is imperative to societal development; and, as such, particular styles
of writing appeal to diverse groups of people. Although traditional poetry is debatably obsolete
within contemporary backgrounds, current writers and music artists still employ such methods.
William Shakespeare, for instance, expertly composed a collection of 154 sonnets; their
construction, themes and emotions still effectively pave direction for future literature. Constructed
to communicate contrasting ideals of love, the first 126 texts are based upon stereotypical romantic
embellishment, while the remaining 28 focus solely on the feeling of an emotional connection,
rather than that of the physical. Sonnet 130, in particular, is clearly a parody of the conventional
love story, in which Shakespeare creatively pays a pragmatic tribute to the dark lady . While
implying that his love for her is unconditional despite describing her appearance rather viciously, the
authentic subtext of Sonnet 130 heavily relies on language rather than generic poetic techniques,
and positions readers differently based upon their status within society. During the Elizabethan era,
Shakespeare had two major audiences with visibly dissimilar attitudes and morals, driven by that of
the separation between the lower and upper classes. Sonnet 130, therefore, was intended to
communicate independent readings of love based upon a particular social group and their
interpretation. The noble born

Essay Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre as a Cinderella Story
Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre as a Cinderella Story
Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre can be characterized in many ways as a variation of Cinderella.
There are several versions of this popular fairy tale. At the time Bronte s novel was published, the
Grimms book of tales, which included Cinderella, was very popular. According to SallyMitchell,
The serious interest in folklore was spurred by the translation, in 1823, of the stories collected by
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. A version of Cinderella was also written by Charles Perrault. Both
Perrault s and the Grimms tales have a place in Bronte s narrative. There is no specific evidence of
her reading these yet, Bronte could easily have known two versions of the Cinderella tale: the ...

will watch over her from heaven. Eventually Cinderella s father remarries. His new wife has two
daughters who although beautiful are said to be black at heart. They are terribly mean to
Cinderella and will not even let her eat with them because they say she did not earn it. She is
forced to work and wear shabby gray frocks and wooden shoes. One day her father travels to the
fair and asks the daughters what he can bring them. The materialistic sisters asked for fine
clothes and jewels. Cinderella on the other hand, asks for the first twig that brushes against her
father s hat on his return. The sisters make fun of Cinderella for this, yet she took the twig and
planted it on her mother s grave. Her tears watered it and a great tree emerged. Cinderella would go
daily to the tree and pray. A bird would always be there, and whatever Cinderella asked for it would
throw down.
Cinderella discovers at one point in the story the king is giving a festival to find his son a bride.
Her stepmother tells her she can go if she picks out all the lentils that they threw in the fireplace.
Cinderella agrees and calls to all the birds under heaven that come and help her with her task. Yet
no matter what she did, her stepmother had no intentions of letting her go to the festival. After the

The Killings And Destruction Of Cultures Throughout The...
History is told in many different ways, and the truth that lies in the stories told, can sometimes be
blurred by different perspectives. Comparing four cases of genocide which formed in the United
States, Australia, British India and German Southwest Africa, allows for a better comprehension of
genocide as defined by the UN Convention. The four cases raise question as to why we can
consider the cases to be genocide, and what similarities and differences each case has.
Considering the UN definition , I acknowledge all but the British Indian case to be genocide.
There are multiple similarities between the mass killings and destruction of cultures in the US,
Australia, and German Southwest Africa, which align with the classification of genocide, but in
the case of British India, it doesn t align. Using The Historiography of Genocide by Dan Stone,
Victoria s Ghost by Mike Davis, To Kill A People by John Cox and Genocide by Adam Jones, I
will articulate arguments about the genocides found in each case.
In the year 1608, pilgrims arrived to Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts where Indians fed them and
showed them hospitality. In return, the colonists brought Indians small poxes, among other
diseases, which would decimate the Indian community. The plague of diseases caused a decrease
in Indian population, from roughly 7 million to 237,000, and allowed for the settlers to expand.
Although the spread of disease was not the settlers intent, it is arguably a factor in the success of

Table 4 Expenses as a Percent of Total Spending (2013)
Table 4 shows the average Rocky Mountain church spends above the UMC average on clergy
compensation. Rocky Mountain has almost 4% more dedicated to staffing expenses, pushing its
rank to 8th. The average Rocky Mountain church spends 2% more than the conference average on
program cost but, the UMC average on operating cost. Rocky Mountain is paying its staff more,
and its clergy just above the UMC average all while maintaining the conference average on debt
payments. Moreover, the conference is spending 2% more in program spending, which if reduced

Analysis Of Livvie, And Girl By Eudora Welty
Separate spheres is an ideology that defines separate spheres for women and men. This ideology
surfaced during the Industrial Revolution, although the idea of gendered separation of spheres is
much older. The notion of separate spheres dictates that men, based primarily on their biological
makeup as well as the will of God, inhabit the public sphere the world of politics, economy,
commerce, and law. Women s proper sphere , according to the ideology, is the private realm of
domestic life, child rearing, housekeeping, and religious education (Kuersten, pp. 16 17). The
theme in Livvie by Eudora Weltyand in Girl by Jamaica Kincaiddepicts how women are instructed
to take care of the home through experience and submission which is defined by the sphere
ideology. EudoraWelty has made significant contributions to the cause of American literature
using themes that share the ideology of separate spheres. The story in question, Livvie , in
principal is the renewal of the main character s life, from the realm of death. The story revolves
around the life of Livvie, who is married to a much older man, Solomon. Although the married life
provides some personal security and regularity, it lacks in passion. This makes her feel that she is
entrapped in the relationship. While this sort of conflict had been explored and presented by many
female writers of the last century, Eudora Welty s offering is not so prominent by the narrative
method but by the story s thematic

John Kasich Political Analysis
You would think never losing an election, being the governor of a swing state, and creating 317,000
jobs (Hunt,) would cause one to be in the national spotlight, but in the perplexing case of the 2016
United States presidential election, Ohio governor John Kasich has not gained any traction and is
largely unknown among most votingrepublicans. In 2016, Kasich offers the Republican party a
moderate candidate for the presidency, as he is known for sharing views and making compromises
with the Democratic party. John Kasich has made a name for himself by holding various positions
in and out of the government, which has given him the experience necessary for the presidency.

During his time in Ohio, Kasich balanced the budget and the state is now working its way out
of debt. Kasich is a leader who had a 62 percent approval rating in his home state of Ohio, which
shows the fact that he is an effective leader who is supported by his people (Gold.) Views held
by the Governor include defunding Planned Parenthood, having education be controlled at the
local and state level, having the right to bear arms, keeping social safety nets but also removing
Obamacare from that category. Kasich has been campaigning with the Kasich Action Plan, which
outlines Kasich s specific strategy that creates the climate for job creation by balancing the
budget in eight years (Kasich.) Kasich believes that cutting taxes, reforming entitlement
programs, and using reliable energy will help grow the economy. The action plan presents a
philosophy that reforming the economy is the most important part of the federal government and
other issues such as education should be controlled at the state and federal level. So far in the
race for presidency Kasich has won the Ohio primary, which granted him 66 delegates and he has
accrued 143 total (RealClearPolitics.) While it is mathematically impossible for Kasich to gain the
necessary 1,237 delegates, he hopes to prevent Donald Trump and Ted Cruz from getting that many

There are only a few paragraphs between the previous example and the next flashback. This

friendship with a black man is one Old Dudley controlled. We see this automatically when Old

Old Dudley gets to do the fun part catch the fish while Rabie giggles and steers the boat

fish he had helped him catch. However, they were the little ones. O Connor could have left this
detail out, saying Old Dudley gave Rabie some of the fish. But the image of the smaller fish is
essential to Old Dudley s character. He was able to choose which fish to give Rabie. Choice
often means privilege and control. Old Dudley had both of these and in seeing these Wednesday
fishing trips as clearly as we do, we understand why Old Dudley has so much animosity toward
his current living and social situation. He does not have any friends in the New York City

Hyperbole In Endings By Mona Van Duyn
Once in a blue moon, a person will find their soulmate story. The one they ve adopted as their
own. The one they don t ever want to finish, that they can t live without. Sometimes, that story
doesn t end the way they want and sometimes that story ends too early leaving them baffled and
clueless. Endings written by Mona Van Duyn is a poem about a person determined to find the
ending of a story they have become extremely attached to. The late writer is known for her
examination of the daily lives of ordinary people (Britannica Mona Van Duyn). It is easy for her to

Therefore, they see themselves when they too fall in love with their story of a lifetime. Mona Van
Duyn uses simple imagery to set the scene and give the reader a sense of home. In the quote
Setting the V.C.R. when we go to bed to record a night owl movie (ls.1,2), Duyn takes this subtle
imagery to make the reader comforted. People bring back this sense of home from the back of
their mind. They understand the feel of a movie night, and because that feeling is so common,
she doesn t need to use detailed imagery to lure the readers into the poem. Duyn can create an
opportunity for the reader to relate to the person in the poem. Tears will salt the left over salad I
seize during ads, or laughter slow my hurry to pee (ls. 13,14). In this line the readers can let out
their uncertainties about the character because they can relate to them. The humor Duyn uses is
just one way of knocking down the walls that separate the reader from the narrator and making the
reader become one with the poem. It allows the reader to reflect themselves onto the character, and
the character becomes them. Duyn creates an atmosphere of dramatic desperation using shifting
mood. In the beginning of the poem, she creates a calm setting where the reader feels safe. We
watch next evening, and having slowly found the start of the film, meet the minors and leads, enter
their time and place, their wills and needs (ls. 6 8). This line

The Tragedy Of Hamlet By William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Hamlet is a misfortunate play that exhibits Prince Hamlet s
internal and external conflicts which show the ultimate purpose of the story. Revenge is perhaps
the greatest theme in Hamlet, and is shown by the conflicts Prince Hamlet has with his family,
friends, and a girlfriend as well as within his self. The anguish Hamletfeels towards his new father
and his mother is magnified by the discovery that they were both involved in his father, the king
s, murder. This anger transcends to unassuming characters like his fiancГ©, his best friend, and
other minor characters. Hamlet s goal of revenge takes over his character and transforms him
from a quiet intellectual to a cruel, vengeful villain. The use of imagery, simile, and
foreshadowing in the story helps the reader visualize how something rotten in the state of
Denmark came to be. Hamlet and his new father, arguably have the strongest conflict, making their
relationship important to analyze. Hamlet previously trusted and loved his uncle, Claudius, but
after his marriage to his mother he becomes emotionally compromised. Prince Hamlet s anger
towards the new king is easily seen. King Claudius appears to show no remorse until his dying
breath. Hamlet struggles in his relationship with his mother because he does love her, but is rattled
by her decision to marry his uncle days after his father s death. When Prince Hamlet realizes that
Gertrude played a significant role in the king s death he

Effects Of Decentralization Of Indonesia
ABSTRACT
In the beginning of Soeharto s period until the end of Soeharto s period, Indonesia centralized the

on January 1st, 2001. This essay would explain the failure of Indonesian decentralization, whereas
this essay only has one area of focus, the failure of distribution of power. Why decentralization in
Indonesia has failed? The main factor of this failure has been started in the first time Indonesia

There were significant animosities between labor and management at the time of this accident.
Perhaps the maintenance personnel would have been more thorough if labor relations would have

If the employee was subjected any undo pressures or distractions the employees performance may

Techniques of the Body
As human beings we are very active creatures. It is very rare we sit absolutely still with no
movement at all, in fact to do so would be considered strange in most social contexts. These
movements are not however sporadic, they are in fact highly controlled, practiced skills. Even
when remaining relatively still, for example, to rest or sleep, we have still been taught the
required skills to do so, whether it s how to sit on a chair or lay on a bed, these are very ordinary,
everyday techniques that we take for granted and perceive as something natural, but often they are
technique s we have been taught to do.
Marcel Mauss in his work Techniques of the Body (1934) is regarded as the first piece of work to
outline a systematic anthropology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bourdieu calls habitus a structured and structuring structure, consisting of a system of schemes of
perception and appreciation (Bourdieu 1984:289), put simply it is an explanation of the subjective
way in which different groups, be this grouping be by class, age, gender or culture, understand and
perceive the world around them. So it can be said that it is from this that differences in taste exist
throughout the globe thus creating cultural characteristics and variations.
So as many societies differ across the globe, so do their System of symbols, which are based
around their taste and cultural beliefs. This then forms different sets of rules of bodily conduct
which then become firmly ingrained in their structure through the notion of habitus. It was through
observation and with this notion of culture as a structured set of rules that Mauss came to believe
that techniques of the body are not just biologically inherent or haphazard, but are in fact highly
developed body actions that embody aspects of an individual s given culture. One of the first
examples Mauss gives is of his observation of various armies and the way in which they march. He
speaks of how the English army marches with a different step to the French. He noticed this
difference in asymmetry when the British Worchester Regiment, having achieved glory amongst
the French in the battle of Aisne, requested to march alongside the French Trumpets and drums as a

The Study Bible And Bible Commentary Essay
Scriptural Response Four
In this paper, I will write a scriptural response to the assigned reading of the NIV Study Bible and
the Wiersbe Bible Commentary. I will write my response to the reading from Leviticus and
Numbers in the NIV Study Bible and Wiersbe Bible Commentary. Holiness
God stress the importance of holiness all through Leviticus. God stresses this in the way that the
Israelites are to approach him and worship him. God gives expressive and specific details on
who and how to bring sacrifices to him. The sacrifices, which will make the Israelites holy. God
what his people to be a holy people set apart from all others. Wiersbe (2007) states God s holiness
isn t simply the absence of defilement, a negative thing. The holiness of God is positive and
active. It s God s perfect nature at work in accomplishing God s perfect will (Wiersbe, p 206).
God also stress the fact that the animals sacrificed are to be clean and without blemish and the first

How Did The Triangular Trade Affect The Spread Of African...
Many wonder about the spread of the African race. The answer to that mystery leads back to the
Transatlantic Slave Trade/Middle Passage. The Transatlantic Slave Trade/ Middle Passage is the
reason for the wide spread of the African society altogether. The first stage included manufactured
goods like clothing, food, and artilleries and transporting them from Europeto Africa. The second
stage was known as the Middle Passage where the enslaved Africans would be shipped to the
Americas. The third and final stage of the trade was the shipment of the produce from the enslaved
Africans to Europe. The fifteenth century is when the trade began, and the Portuguese interests for
Africa turned from its natural resources and into its people who they will pursue as slaves. The

Joan Of Arc Argument
Joan of Arc was a young woman who came from very humble roots, and eventually overcame
these roots through God in order to fight for war torn France. In Donald Spoto s, Joan: The
Mysterious Life of the Heretic Who Became a Saint, Joan is portrayed as having many visions
from God telling her what to do, and eventually following them which began to prove France
wrong about women in battle. After many victorious battles, she was captured, locked up in a cell
and held for ransom until Cauchon, who was trying to eliminate the king in power in France and
gain the bishop position at Rouen, bought Joan, and charged her for being a heretic. She was found
guilty on these charges and burned at the stake, all with unbroken faith. Joan s conviction... Show

These principles can most likely be seen present day through the Principles of Catholic Social
Teaching, which many who read about Joan of Arc would argue were nonexistent at this time due
to the atrocities that were committed against her this is wrong. The website for the United
States Conference of Catholic Bishops states that, God reveals himself to us as one who is not
alone, but rather as one who is relational, one who is Trinity ( Catholic Social Teaching ). I
believe this is where the teachings relate to Joan because throughout her life, God is constantly
showing her that she is not alone by guiding her through each battle that she faces. Her story of
everlasting faith promotes the teachings and gives true backing to them that would otherwise
be nonexistent. I believe that it is very anachronistic to view modern social teachings and try to
apply them to medieval times because society and cultural norms were so different. To try to
apply these teachings to medieval times would be like giving Joan of Arc an iPhone and telling
her to make a call, she would have no idea what those words even meant or the context in which
you used them, and the same is for the teachings. The ideas of dignity and respect have changed
so much over the years that medieval people would be very surprised at the kinds of rights, and
the ideas that religious society has today, especially considering that not everyone today is
religious. I believe these ideas would not even have really been introduced to them, especially in
such mass amounts of

Desdemona As An Outsider In Shakespeare s Othello
In William Shakespeare s Othello, Othello himself is seen as the obvious outsider because of his
race. However, his own wife Desdemona can be reasoned to be just as much of an outcast, even
though she s described as the perfect woman. She affected the actions and feelings of other
characters by being young, innocent and easily manipulated, and by being so visually striking.
Desdemona s mindset is easily swayed and by the other characters, showing how young and
inexperienced she is with living as someone s wife. Her being so innocent and good hearted to the

Come, be a man (1.3.377 378) Even the other characters can see that Roderigo s infatuation with
Desdemona is all in his head, as he does not speak to her at all throughout the play, nor does he
ever mention her personality as what attracts him to her. Even though Desdemona denied that
there was anything between her and Cassio in the play, Cassio was much more gentlemanly to
her than he was to anything female character. One can see how highly he thinks of her when he
states: She s a most exquisite lady... Indeed she s a most fresh and delicate creature ( 2.3.20 22).
Then he goes on to say: An inviting eye, and yet methinks right modest... She is indeed
perfection. (2.3.26 29). Here it is seen that after greeting Desdemona when she arrives at Cyprus,
he describes her as the perfect woman, when he didn t extend to Emilia the same courtesy. Iago
himself is written to seem as if he hates women, but even he admits to himself how beautiful
Desdemona is, as seen: Now, I do love her too, Not out of absolute lust though peradventure I

Moor Hath leaped into my seat. The thought whereof Doth, like a poisonous mineral, gnaw my

Show Jumping Research Paper
What is Show Jumping?
Show jumping is uncomparable. As Charlotte Casiraghi says, Competing in show jumping is a
school of life. And it s one of the few Olympic sports where men and women are equal. Show
jumping is an equestrian Olympic sport that takes place at the most prestigious destinations. It is a
team made up of a rider and horse combination that competes against the clock, with the goal of
leaving all obstacles in place. Behind each combination is a team, whether it be the grooms for the
horses, the trainers or the veterinarians and farriers, the horses need to be in their best condition.
The rider also needs to be in top condition. Hours are spent in the gym making ourselves be better
for our team mates. Show jumping is always evolving and becoming a better sport for both horses
and riders.
Show Jumping was originated from foxhunting. When the Enclosure Act in England took place in
the 18th century, horses and riders had to adapt to the new terrain and fences. The new barriers
meant the horses would need to jump them. Coincidedly in France, competitions had already taken
place. The competitions included jumping in big fields. Spectators eventually became upset, when

The Ideas Of Kierkegaard And Pascal
There are some questions in the religious domain that reason cannot answer because there are
situations in every religion that cannot logically be explained. Religions are not rational; therefore,
reason alone is not adequate enough to validate religious truths. In this paper, I will demonstrate
how reason and faitharen t separate entities and how both are needed in order to explain all
religious truths by examining the ideas of Kierkegaard and Pascal. I will also give a detailed
explanation of fideism, show examples of irresponsible fideism and responsible fideism and then
argue in favor of responsible fideism; faith fills in the gaps that are left void by reason.
A truly authentic faith is not one that is established upon the root of reason and scientific facts, but
rather transcends those human accomplishments and challenges to understand God and the world as
we know it, through an existentialist view. Belief should be purely a matter of the will. To have
ultimate and unwavering faith in God, and Christian belief, is impossible to comprehend and that
is exactly how the great theological philosopher Soren Kierkegaard saw the Christian faith. He
stated that Christianity is unfeasible and is ridiculous in its claims of God becoming man. Blaise
Pascal was another philosopher who had a somewhat different view of God, and faith. He
explained that reason and faith were not enough to believe in God. According to Pascal, it was
somewhat easier to have the choice to believe.

Why Is Samsung To Achieve Global Competitive Advantage
Question 1 (40 Marks)
Critically analyze and discuss the strategy adopted by Samsung to achieve global competitive
Advantage. (500 words)
Answer 1
To understand how Samsung achieved global competitive advantage we first need to understand
what do we mean by Strategy ?
At the business unit level, strategy is a set of management decisions concerning which customers to
target and what to offer them. (European Business Forum, 2007)1
Strategy is a concept that focuses on long term objectives of a firm keeping in view the changes
that take place in the business environment and the possible implications that it has on the firm.

The reason being that the company didn t depend upon its organizational members or managers to
act rationally and take decisions. Rather the firm was highly determined on revising its product
design in order to achieve global competitive advantage. The processual strategy states that
organizations whose products are genuinely better can outwit their competitors. In a similar manner
Samsung also came out with a variety of convergence products which gave the firm an extra boost
of competitive edge. For instance, Samsung launched 5 and 7 mega pixel camera phones in 2005
along with a 10 mega pixel camera in 2005. It also launched the SGH i310, a phone with a
capacity of 8 GB that could easily store about 2,000 MP3 files. By offering products that were
completely different and unique with respect to their design, features, quality etc. Samsung soon
occupied a major share in the electronics market. The systemic school sees strategy as constrained
and shaped by the socio economic systems in which it is embedded. (Small Business Economics,
Jan 2009)3 Samsung along with the processual strategy also adopts the systemic theory of strategy.
In that the company aligns its activities and products with the social systems that the firm interacts
with for instance cultural, political, social etc. Samsung functions in an environment that is highly

Rebirth In Hinduism
When the charioteer of Prince Arjuna, Krishna (who is an avatar of the god Vishnu), tries to
convince the prince to fight against his own relatives, he invokes some of the core concepts of
Hinduism, such as karma, dharma, samsara, and brahman.
The avatar Krishna brought up Hindu concept of atman saying, the Eternal [atman] in man cannot
die . Hindus believe in brahman, the essence of life. The brahman in humans is the soul, or atman.
As opposed to the human body, the atman is eternal. The ultimate goal in Hinduismis to achieve
moksha, or reunion with brahman. But it takes multiple lifetimes to achieve moksha, so Hindus
believe in samsara, or rebirth. After the physical death of the human body, the atman then takes
another form and Krishna reminds Arjuna of this by saying, As...our mortal body wanders on in...

A person has a higher chance of being united with brahman if they build up good karma
throughout their lifetime. In order to build up good karma, one must fulfill his or her dharma.
Krishna repeatedly invokes this concept of dharma. Karma is a person s actions which, if used
to fulfill their dharma, lead to good karma. Good karma results in the person s atman being
reincarnated in a higher being, and so is therefore closer to achieving the ultimate goal of moksha,
or reunion with the divine. Since Prince Arjuna is a warrior, his duty is to fight. Krishna invokes
this by saying Think thou of thy duty and do not waver. Not fulfilling one s dharma means that
person will get bad karma, and therefore be farther away from achieving the Hindu goal of moksha.
Since Arjuna s duty is to fight, him not fighting, even if it means killing his own relatives, is him
not fulfilling his dharma.

Why Is Technology Important In The Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War, a proxy war fought primarily between North Vietnam and South Vietnam
with the support of the US, the deployment of new technology is seen by some to have a pivotal
impact on the nature of warfare. The Vietnam War does however highlight how other factors may
have been equally influential as despite America s large preponderance in the sense of technology,
weapons and ultimately economic wealth it was counteracted by the intense motivation to win and
leadership shown by the North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong, provoking their victory. As a
result, it raises the question if new technology alone influenced the nature of warfare in this period
or if it was a combination of other aspects including public support, organization,... Show more

This photograph (left) taken by Eddie Adams, shows the execution of a Vietcong soldier who
assassinated the families of several South Vietnamese police officers, being executed by General
Nguyen Ngoc loan, the South Vietnamese National Police Chief. Although the executed was
guilty of heinous crimes, when the photograph was broadcasted it galvanized the anti war
movement and was used as anti war propaganda across the world . This source is reliable as it
visually depicts the reality of war and what was going on in Vietnam. It is an example of why
America experienced a rapid decline of public backing from 1968 to 71, by the end of which
only 28% of America s public were in favor of the war. It was not only ordinary people who
determined the Governments choices on warfare but influential leaders such as Martin Luther
King. King once referred to the US government as the greatest purveyor of violence in the world
today during his 1967 Beyond Vietnam speech . This statement cannot be taken lightly as at this
time King would have been a supporter of the Government in order to assist the Civil Rights
Movement and therefore it would have been a great deal for him to speak out against their actions.
For King to do so it highlights that the level of public disgust against the military action used in
Vietnam was

Oklahoma (BGCO). The BGCO is a convention of 1813 Southern Baptist churches comprising of

the convention spiritually, financially, and structurally. They provide a number of camps and

Anthony Jordan has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwest Baptist University and a Master of
Divinity and a Doctor of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (BGCO.com).
He has been the Executive Director Treasurer for the last nineteen years. Before he became the
Executive Director Treasurer, Dr. Jordan served as the lead pastor at Northwest Baptist Church in
Oklahoma City from 1982 1996 (ohbc.org). The members of the BGCO have been very positive
about the way Dr. Jordan leads and structures the convention. In the rest of this paper, I will inform
you of how Dr. Jordan handles ethical dilemmas, how the convention is structured and the culture
surrounding it, and the leadership style and qualities that Dr. Jordan uses and exemplifies as he

Essay about Ntc 362 Week 5 Individual Assignment
Final Paper
NTC/362
Introduction
Kudler Fine Foods has established that they want to design a WAN to tie three different locations
together and make the internal network in each store a Wireless Local Area Network. Then, they
are requesting Voice Over Internet Protocol to each multi store network. Various protocols make all
this happen. Transfer Control Protocol and Internet Protocol are the foundation of data transfer.
TCP is the protocol that the internet, email and ftp highly rely on. Without TCP/IP there would
be no internet, email or FTP. Two other protocols designed to process packets throughout the
network are X.25 and Frame Relay. For this scenario Frame Relay will be used so I will not
provide a brief description about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frame Relay does have some draw backs such as error checking packets. This can be a huge deal
if there is a lot of traffic on the network because it will not detect corrupt packets. Which means
individual packets could be lost when transmitted. Frame Relay relies on the end station to send
the SYN/ACK back. If a SYN/ACK does not come back then the Frame Relay protocol will just
drop the frame. From each individual router a T1 line will be used to help reach the desired
bandwidth from server to a switch. From this point you will have to use leased lines which will
affect the budget of the project. With the implemented plan, the goal was to keep the desired
bandwidth and allow room for growth.
Latency, Jitter, Response Time
I also targeted the area of Latency. With all the users connected to the router and the router
transmitting data to the switch and then so forth until it reaches its destination, there is going to be
a degrade in Latency. Three variables that will keep this network maintained and keep the desired
processing speed and bandwidth are Latency, Jitter, and Response Time. Latency has already been
discussed however, Jitter can resemble Latency somewhat. Jitter will occur when packets pass
through the network nodes with varying latencies. This usually occurs when the bandwidth is
maxed out or is low and the network path needs to be manipulated. Response Time deals with the
individual components and the amount of time it takes for them to respond giving the

Sample Classroom Observation
I conducted my observations at the HUB, outside where the tables are located. I decided upon
this location due to its large size, alongside the fact that it is placed in a spot where most people
have to pass by while walking to class. Additionally, I decided to sit outside the HUB rather than
inside due to the fact that I would be exposed to more people, sounds, and smells; I would be out
in the open rather than a closed setting. Almost every UCR faculty member takes pride in
mentioning how diverse the UCR campus is, however, I had not truly recognized how diverse
the campus is until I sat down and focused on observing other people. I noticed people of all sizes,
skin colors, hair types, speaking a wide array of different languages and eating... Show more content

The biggest difference were the population size, drinks of choice, and noise level. The group of
people sitting outside the HUB decreased in size from Wednesday at noon to Friday at 10 am. I
deduce that this was due to the fact that maybe people were not on campus yet as they had later
classes, or most were in class already. Moreover, I noticed that people were mostly drinking
water during my observation period on Wednesday, whereas the overall drink of choice on
Friday was coffee. I presume this shift in drink choice was due to the change in time; people
enjoy drinking coffee in the mornings and/or it helps people reduce the groggy, tired feeling of
waking up. The noise level was the most drastic change. The HUB and its surroundings were
boisterous and lively during Wednesday at noon whereas the HUB fell a bit silent during Friday
at 10 am. I consider this change drastic as the decrease in noise level was outstandingly clear
almost immediately. I assume this was due to the fact that most people were still waking up and
had not yet summoned all energy. With these observations, I not only improved my observational
skills, however, I also realized how fortunate I am to attend a school that celebrates and encourages
diversity among

What I m From Hawaii
2016 Kealoha,Tiare College Essay I m from Hawaii, a volcanic island where lava bubbles up like
a molten spring of fire and stone. I was born to a Hawaiian father and an American mother. We
lived off grid in the district of Puna near the billowing smoke of Kilauea. Puna is like the wild
west, a rugged, rural area. It isn t uncommon for people to grow their own food and raise their
own stock. Many live off generators and small catchment tanks for plumbing. I remember going
out in the night, flashlight in my mouth, right hand on the generator keeping it steady, left hand
pouring gasoline, then furiously tugging at the string to start the generator. It was best to
complete homework before nightfall so you wouldn t have to rely on lights that could go out if
the electricity died. Change has always been a part of my life. One of the biggest changes
happened when I was 15 years old. I started to think of college in my last years of middle school.
Until then College was someone else s reality. Not many people from my community attended
college. They felt that their futures were supposed to be spent being a clerk or fisherman. The
change happened on a trip to visit mainland college towns, explore possibilities beyond the
islands cultural landscape With the help of my aunt, I created a bakery product, brownie balls. To
raise money for the trip, I baked and sold these brownie balls at the farmers market. The process
was hard and tiring. I remember working up until

Papers On Anne Frank
Anne Frank
I hope I shall be able to confide in you completely, as I have never been able to do in anyone before,
and I hope that you will be a great support and comfort for to me ( Frank). Anne Frank, short for
Anneliese Marie Frank, was born in 1929, and died around 1945. Her father, Otto Frank, was born
in 1889 and died in 1980, and was a prosperous businessman. On January 30, 1933, Hitler had
taken over Germany. Anne and her family were Jewish, and they were forced to move to a new
place for a new life. Anne Frank was a victim of the holocaust, and she would later use her
experience before, during, and after WWII to illustrate through her writing, the thought of a
teenager during a time war.
Before WW2, Anne attend two school s; Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam and Jewish Lyceum. Anne
was born on June 12,1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. She was the child of Otto and Edith Frank. Anne
was their second daughter, after her older sister Margot. In 1935, the Franks moved to Amsterdam
due to Hitler taking over Germany. Anne never really paid much attention to what was happening
with the jews, but one thing she did notice was the racism that was showed in school. On May 10,

We Go Back In Time Essay
Let s go back in time... It s 2007, the iPhone is just being introduced. Before the iPhone was
released do you remember the phones that were used? Our interactions were dramatically different.
Do you remember having to click 3 or 4 times on your flip phone just to find the right letter? Do
you remember the first iPhoneand how slow it was compared to today s phones? The world was a
different place. Thanks to innovative companies like Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook, and others
we have been able to experience things that we couldn t possibly have envisioned.
As we were introduced to new technologies and experiences we began to expect things. I believe
this is in our nature to become comfortable and used to things and take them for granted. ... Show

Who likes to wash their car? Who wants to buy their own groceries? Who wants to cook their own
food?
These companies have been able to provide services at a price that is reasonable and allows
consumers to relax and limit their stress levels. One of the main issues that can arise in this
industry is that the companies can lose sight of the customer experience. What I mean by this is
that hyper growth companies achieve growth by growing users. How do you grow users? You
focus the majority of your efforts on application development and make your platform as user
friendly as possible. This is great for those who try out the application but becomes a problem for
those who end up using it frequently. What happens when you have an issue with the car you
rented out? What about if your meal kit is missing items? What about if you have complaints about
your experience? What happens when your Uber driver gets into an accident and you are hurt?
What happens if your mechanic purchased the wrong part or can t find your address?
Typically, customers will go either to the app storeor to social media to complain if they don t
receive the level of service they expected. This is a massive problem because that is the first place
people look before downloading your application. There has to be a way to mitigate this risk

  • 4. 18th Century Ottoman Essay Honors College History 232 23 January 2013 Eighteenth Century Ottoman Empire The Ottoman Empire was a state founded by Turkish tribes under Osman Bey in 1299. Under the leadership of Mehmed II, this fledgling nation became an empire with the conquest of Constantinople in 1452 by Mehmed II. The Ottoman Empire continued in its imperial form until it became the Republic of Turkey in 1923. As an empire, it was the most powerful state in the world with 32 provinces during the seventeenth century. In the last half of the seventeenth century, the Ottoman Empire functioned under the rule of the Koprulu family, a notable family of imperial bureaucrats from Albania who overhauled the bureaucracy and instituted military reforms. The Janissary corps distinct social class and special privileges soon brought more harm than good to the Sultans of the eighteenth Century. The group of men grew corrupt and lived above the law. Not even the poor were given mercy. A prime example of this can be found in Lady Montague s Turkish Embassy Letters, where the janissaries slaughter and feast on the poor s livestock then require the households to pay teeth money. The lawlessness of these men grew so unbearable that Lady Montague also observes and writes about, how tis the Emperor s interest to flatter [the janissaries] (Montagu, 105). The groups power became unchecked and tension between the Sultans and janissaries magnified. Ahmed III was the first ruler of the eighteenth century. His close ties to the European rulers lead to prosperous relations with the French and Swedish. Ahmed, during his reign, afforded refuge to Charles XII of Sweden after the Swedish defeat under the hands of Peter I of Russia in the Battle of Poltava of 1709. In response to the Swedish defeat, Ahmed declared war against Russia and won the Ottoman Empire s most notorious victory over Russia. Never before had the Ottoman forces come so near to breaking the Russian power. The invasion, however, was halted in response to the incursion of Safavids. The team was faced by two options that are: 1 Launching a new line extension positioned against Plax as a recent entry into the market. 2 Looking at claims other than breath that might be used by scope such as plaque reduction. In the case of product development, product tests were made on Scope, product development department has demonstrated that Scope reduced plaque better than brushing alone because of the antibacterial ingredients in it. So the PDD has recently developed a new pre brushing rinse product that performed as well as Plax but didn t work any better than Plax in removing plaque. The key benefit of this recently launched product is that it tastes better than Plax. However, PDD s preference was to not launch a new product, but instead to add plaque reduction claims to Scope. Vo Ngoc Dieu [16], proposed an augmented Lagrange Hopfield network (ALHN) for real power dispatch on large scale power systems. The proposed ALHN is a continuous Hopfield network with its energy function based on augmented Lagrange function. For this combination, the ALHN method can easily deal with large scale problems with nonlinear constraints. The proposed ALHN has been tested on systems from 40 units to 240 units, IEEE 118 bus and IEEE 300 bus systems, and the obtained results have been compared to those from other methods. • 8. The Subtext Of Sonnet 130 By William Shakespeare In the 21st century, literature is imperative to societal development; and, as such, particular styles of writing appeal to diverse groups of people. Although traditional poetry is debatably obsolete within contemporary backgrounds, current writers and music artists still employ such methods. William Shakespeare, for instance, expertly composed a collection of 154 sonnets; their construction, themes and emotions still effectively pave direction for future literature. Constructed to communicate contrasting ideals of love, the first 126 texts are based upon stereotypical romantic embellishment, while the remaining 28 focus solely on the feeling of an emotional connection, rather than that of the physical. Sonnet 130, in particular, is clearly a parody of the conventional love story, in which Shakespeare creatively pays a pragmatic tribute to the dark lady . While implying that his love for her is unconditional despite describing her appearance rather viciously, the authentic subtext of Sonnet 130 heavily relies on language rather than generic poetic techniques, and positions readers differently based upon their status within society. During the Elizabethan era, Shakespeare had two major audiences with visibly dissimilar attitudes and morals, driven by that of the separation between the lower and upper classes. Sonnet 130, therefore, was intended to communicate independent readings of love based upon a particular social group and their interpretation. The noble born ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Killings And Destruction Of Cultures Throughout The... History is told in many different ways, and the truth that lies in the stories told, can sometimes be blurred by different perspectives. Comparing four cases of genocide which formed in the United States, Australia, British India and German Southwest Africa, allows for a better comprehension of genocide as defined by the UN Convention. The four cases raise question as to why we can consider the cases to be genocide, and what similarities and differences each case has. Considering the UN definition , I acknowledge all but the British Indian case to be genocide. There are multiple similarities between the mass killings and destruction of cultures in the US, Australia, and German Southwest Africa, which align with the classification of genocide, but in the case of British India, it doesn t align. Using The Historiography of Genocide by Dan Stone, Victoria s Ghost by Mike Davis, To Kill A People by John Cox and Genocide by Adam Jones, I will articulate arguments about the genocides found in each case. In the year 1608, pilgrims arrived to Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts where Indians fed them and showed them hospitality. In return, the colonists brought Indians small poxes, among other diseases, which would decimate the Indian community. The plague of diseases caused a decrease in Indian population, from roughly 7 million to 237,000, and allowed for the settlers to expand. • 12. Analysis Of Livvie, And Girl By Eudora Welty Separate spheres is an ideology that defines separate spheres for women and men. This ideology surfaced during the Industrial Revolution, although the idea of gendered separation of spheres is much older. The notion of separate spheres dictates that men, based primarily on their biological makeup as well as the will of God, inhabit the public sphere the world of politics, economy, commerce, and law. Women s proper sphere , according to the ideology, is the private realm of domestic life, child rearing, housekeeping, and religious education (Kuersten, pp. 16 17). The theme in Livvie by Eudora Weltyand in Girl by Jamaica Kincaiddepicts how women are instructed to take care of the home through experience and submission which is defined by the sphere ideology. EudoraWelty has made significant contributions to the cause of American literature using themes that share the ideology of separate spheres. The story in question, Livvie , in principal is the renewal of the main character s life, from the realm of death. The story revolves around the life of Livvie, who is married to a much older man, Solomon. Although the married life provides some personal security and regularity, it lacks in passion. This makes her feel that she is entrapped in the relationship. Views held by the Governor include defunding Planned Parenthood, having education be controlled at the local and state level, having the right to bear arms, keeping social safety nets but also removing Obamacare from that category. The action plan presents a philosophy that reforming the economy is the most important part of the federal government and other issues such as education should be controlled at the state and federal level. Therefore, they see themselves when they too fall in love with their story of a lifetime. Mona Van Duyn uses simple imagery to set the scene and give the reader a sense of home. In the quote Setting the V.C.R. when we go to bed to record a night owl movie (ls.1,2), Duyn takes this subtle imagery to make the reader comforted. People bring back this sense of home from the back of their mind. They understand the feel of a movie night, and because that feeling is so common, she doesn t need to use detailed imagery to lure the readers into the poem. Duyn can create an opportunity for the reader to relate to the person in the poem. Tears will salt the left over salad I seize during ads, or laughter slow my hurry to pee (ls. 13,14). In this line the readers can let out their uncertainties about the character because they can relate to them. The humor Duyn uses is just one way of knocking down the walls that separate the reader from the narrator and making the reader become one with the poem. It allows the reader to reflect themselves onto the character, and the character becomes them. Duyn creates an atmosphere of dramatic desperation using shifting mood. In the beginning of the poem, she creates a calm setting where the reader feels safe. • 16. The Tragedy Of Hamlet By William Shakespeare William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Hamlet is a misfortunate play that exhibits Prince Hamlet s internal and external conflicts which show the ultimate purpose of the story. Revenge is perhaps the greatest theme in Hamlet, and is shown by the conflicts Prince Hamlet has with his family, friends, and a girlfriend as well as within his self. The anguish Hamletfeels towards his new father and his mother is magnified by the discovery that they were both involved in his father, the king s, murder. This anger transcends to unassuming characters like his fiancГ©, his best friend, and other minor characters. Hamlet s goal of revenge takes over his character and transforms him from a quiet intellectual to a cruel, vengeful villain. The use of imagery, simile, and foreshadowing in the story helps the reader visualize how something rotten in the state of Denmark came to be. Hamlet and his new father, arguably have the strongest conflict, making their relationship important to analyze. Hamlet previously trusted and loved his uncle, Claudius, but after his marriage to his mother he becomes emotionally compromised. Prince Hamlet s anger towards the new king is easily seen. King Claudius appears to show no remorse until his dying breath. It is very rare we sit absolutely still with no movement at all, in fact to do so would be considered strange in most social contexts. These movements are not however sporadic, they are in fact highly controlled, practiced skills. Even when remaining relatively still, for example, to rest or sleep, we have still been taught the required skills to do so, whether it s how to sit on a chair or lay on a bed, these are very ordinary, everyday techniques that we take for granted and perceive as something natural, but often they are technique s we have been taught to do. Bourdieu calls habitus a structured and structuring structure, consisting of a system of schemes of perception and appreciation (Bourdieu 1984:289), put simply it is an explanation of the subjective way in which different groups, be this grouping be by class, age, gender or culture, understand and perceive the world around them. So it can be said that it is from this that differences in taste exist throughout the globe thus creating cultural characteristics and variations. So as many societies differ across the globe, so do their System of symbols, which are based around their taste and cultural beliefs. This then forms different sets of rules of bodily conduct which then become firmly ingrained in their structure through the notion of habitus. It was through observation and with this notion of culture as a structured set of rules that Mauss came to believe that techniques of the body are not just biologically inherent or haphazard, but are in fact highly developed body actions that embody aspects of an individual s given culture. One of the first examples Mauss gives is of his observation of various armies and the way in which they march. He speaks of how the English army marches with a different step to the French. He noticed this difference in asymmetry when the British Worchester Regiment, having achieved glory amongst the French in the battle of Aisne, requested to march alongside the French Trumpets and drums as a sign ... After many victorious battles, she was captured, locked up in a cell and held for ransom until Cauchon, who was trying to eliminate the king in power in France and gain the bishop position at Rouen, bought Joan, and charged her for being a heretic. The website for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops states that, God reveals himself to us as one who is not alone, but rather as one who is relational, one who is Trinity ( Catholic Social Teaching ). I believe this is where the teachings relate to Joan because throughout her life, God is constantly showing her that she is not alone by guiding her through each battle that she faces. Her story of everlasting faith promotes the teachings and gives true backing to them that would otherwise be nonexistent. I believe that it is very anachronistic to view modern social teachings and try to apply them to medieval times because society and cultural norms were so different. To try to apply these teachings to medieval times would be like giving Joan of Arc an iPhone and telling her to make a call, she would have no idea what those words even meant or the context in which you used them, and the same is for the teachings. The ideas of dignity and respect have changed so much over the years that medieval people would be very surprised at the kinds of rights, and the ideas that religious society has today, especially considering that not everyone today is religious. And it s one of the few Olympic sports where men and women are equal. Show jumping is an equestrian Olympic sport that takes place at the most prestigious destinations. • 35. The Ideas Of Kierkegaard And Pascal There are some questions in the religious domain that reason cannot answer because there are situations in every religion that cannot logically be explained. Religions are not rational; therefore, reason alone is not adequate enough to validate religious truths. In this paper, I will demonstrate how reason and faitharen t separate entities and how both are needed in order to explain all religious truths by examining the ideas of Kierkegaard and Pascal. I will also give a detailed explanation of fideism, show examples of irresponsible fideism and responsible fideism and then argue in favor of responsible fideism; faith fills in the gaps that are left void by reason. A truly authentic faith is not one that is established upon the root of reason and scientific facts, but rather transcends those human accomplishments and challenges to understand God and the world as we know it, through an existentialist view. Belief should be purely a matter of the will. To have ultimate and unwavering faith in God, and Christian belief, is impossible to comprehend and that is exactly how the great theological philosopher Soren Kierkegaard saw the Christian faith. He stated that Christianity is unfeasible and is ridiculous in its claims of God becoming man. Blaise Pascal was another philosopher who had a somewhat different view of God, and faith. He explained that reason and faith were not enough to believe in God. According to Pascal, it was somewhat easier to have the choice to believe. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This photograph (left) taken by Eddie Adams, shows the execution of a Vietcong soldier who assassinated the families of several South Vietnamese police officers, being executed by General Nguyen Ngoc loan, the South Vietnamese National Police Chief. Although the executed was guilty of heinous crimes, when the photograph was broadcasted it galvanized the anti war movement and was used as anti war propaganda across the world . This source is reliable as it visually depicts the reality of war and what was going on in Vietnam. It is an example of why America experienced a rapid decline of public backing from 1968 to 71, by the end of which only 28% of America s public were in favor of the war. It was not only ordinary people who determined the Governments choices on warfare but influential leaders such as Martin Luther King. King once referred to the US government as the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today during his 1967 Beyond Vietnam speech . This statement cannot be taken lightly as at this time King would have been a supporter of the Government in order to assist the Civil Rights Movement and therefore it would have been a great deal for him to speak out against their actions. For King to do so it highlights that the level of public disgust against the military action used in Vietnam was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Essay about Ntc 362 Week 5 Individual Assignment Final Paper NTC/362 Introduction Kudler Fine Foods has established that they want to design a WAN to tie three different locations together and make the internal network in each store a Wireless Local Area Network. Then, they are requesting Voice Over Internet Protocol to each multi store network. Various protocols make all this happen. Transfer Control Protocol and Internet Protocol are the foundation of data transfer. TCP is the protocol that the internet, email and ftp highly rely on. Without TCP/IP there would be no internet, email or FTP. Two other protocols designed to process packets throughout the network are X.25 and Frame Relay. For this scenario Frame Relay will be used so I will not provide a brief description about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frame Relay does have some draw backs such as error checking packets. This can be a huge deal if there is a lot of traffic on the network because it will not detect corrupt packets. Which means individual packets could be lost when transmitted. Frame Relay relies on the end station to send the SYN/ACK back. If a SYN/ACK does not come back then the Frame Relay protocol will just drop the frame. From each individual router a T1 line will be used to help reach the desired bandwidth from server to a switch. From this point you will have to use leased lines which will affect the budget of the project. With the implemented plan, the goal was to keep the desired bandwidth and allow room for growth. Latency, Jitter, Response Time I also targeted the area of Latency. With all the users connected to the router and the router transmitting data to the switch and then so forth until it reaches its destination, there is going to be a degrade in Latency. Three variables that will keep this network maintained and keep the desired processing speed and bandwidth are Latency, Jitter, and Response Time. Latency has already been discussed however, Jitter can resemble Latency somewhat. Jitter will occur when packets pass through the network nodes with varying latencies. This usually occurs when the bandwidth is maxed out or is low and the network path needs to be manipulated. Response Time deals with the individual components and the amount of time it takes for them to respond giving the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Sample Classroom Observation I conducted my observations at the HUB, outside where the tables are located. I decided upon this location due to its large size, alongside the fact that it is placed in a spot where most people have to pass by while walking to class. Additionally, I decided to sit outside the HUB rather than inside due to the fact that I would be exposed to more people, sounds, and smells; I would be out in the open rather than a closed setting. Almost every UCR faculty member takes pride in mentioning how diverse the UCR campus is, however, I had not truly recognized how diverse the campus is until I sat down and focused on observing other people. I noticed people of all sizes, skin colors, hair types, speaking a wide array of different languages and eating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The biggest difference were the population size, drinks of choice, and noise level. The group of people sitting outside the HUB decreased in size from Wednesday at noon to Friday at 10 am. I deduce that this was due to the fact that maybe people were not on campus yet as they had later classes, or most were in class already. Moreover, I noticed that people were mostly drinking water during my observation period on Wednesday, whereas the overall drink of choice on Friday was coffee. I presume this shift in drink choice was due to the change in time; people enjoy drinking coffee in the mornings and/or it helps people reduce the groggy, tired feeling of waking up. The noise level was the most drastic change. The HUB and its surroundings were boisterous and lively during Wednesday at noon whereas the HUB fell a bit silent during Friday at 10 am. I consider this change drastic as the decrease in noise level was outstandingly clear almost immediately. I assume this was due to the fact that most people were still waking up and had not yet summoned all energy. With these observations, I not only improved my observational skills, however, I also realized how fortunate I am to attend a school that celebrates and encourages diversity among ... • 44. What I m From Hawaii 2016 Kealoha,Tiare College Essay I m from Hawaii, a volcanic island where lava bubbles up like a molten spring of fire and stone. I was born to a Hawaiian father and an American mother. We lived off grid in the district of Puna near the billowing smoke of Kilauea. Puna is like the wild west, a rugged, rural area. It isn t uncommon for people to grow their own food and raise their own stock. Many live off generators and small catchment tanks for plumbing. I remember going out in the night, flashlight in my mouth, right hand on the generator keeping it steady, left hand pouring gasoline, then furiously tugging at the string to start the generator. It was best to complete homework before nightfall so you wouldn t have to rely on lights that could go out if the electricity died. Change has always been a part of my life. One of the biggest changes happened when I was 15 years old. I started to think of college in my last years of middle school. Until then College was someone else s reality. Not many people from my community attended college. They felt that their futures were supposed to be spent being a clerk or fisherman. The change happened on a trip to visit mainland college towns, explore possibilities beyond the islands cultural landscape With the help of my aunt, I created a bakery product, brownie balls. To raise money for the trip, I baked and sold these brownie balls at the farmers market. The process was hard and tiring. I remember working up until ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. We Go Back In Time Essay Let s go back in time... It s 2007, the iPhone is just being introduced. Before the iPhone was released do you remember the phones that were used? Our interactions were dramatically different. Do you remember having to click 3 or 4 times on your flip phone just to find the right letter? Do you remember the first iPhoneand how slow it was compared to today s phones? The world was a different place. Thanks to innovative companies like Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook, and others we have been able to experience things that we couldn t possibly have envisioned. As we were introduced to new technologies and experiences we began to expect things. I believe this is in our nature to become comfortable and used to things and take them for granted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Who likes to wash their car? Who wants to buy their own groceries? Who wants to cook their own food? These companies have been able to provide services at a price that is reasonable and allows consumers to relax and limit their stress levels. One of the main issues that can arise in this industry is that the companies can lose sight of the customer experience. What I mean by this is that hyper growth companies achieve growth by growing users. How do you grow users? You focus the majority of your efforts on application development and make your platform as user friendly as possible. This is great for those who try out the application but becomes a problem for those who end up using it frequently. What happens when you have an issue with the car you rented out? What about if your meal kit is missing items? What about if you have complaints about your experience? What happens when your Uber driver gets into an accident and you are hurt? What happens if your mechanic purchased the wrong part or can t find your address? Typically, customers will go either to the app storeor to social media to complain if they don t receive the level of service they expected. This is a massive problem because that is the first place people look before downloading your application. There has to be a way to mitigate this risk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
