1) A study compared the effects of 6% HES 130/0.4 and 3% modified fluid gelatin on blood loss in patients undergoing coronary artery surgery. It found no significant difference in total blood loss between the two groups. 2) Both colloids were effective in maintaining hemodynamic goals such as cardiac index and pulmonary artery occlusion pressure during fluid administration in the postoperative period. 3) The number of patients transfused and median units transfused were similar between the gelatin and HES 130/0.4 groups.
