2010 effect of pistachio diet on lipid parameters, endothelial functionAgrin Life
This study investigated the effects of consuming a pistachio-enriched Mediterranean diet on cardiovascular risk factors in 32 healthy young men. Compared to a standard Mediterranean diet, the pistachio diet for 4 weeks significantly decreased blood glucose, LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides. It also significantly improved endothelial function and decreased markers of inflammation and oxidative stress. The findings suggest that pistachios may have beneficial effects beyond lipid lowering and cardiovascular health.
2010 dietary intakes of essential nutrients among arab andAgrin Life
This study investigated dietary intakes and anthropometric measurements between Arab and Berber ethnic groups on the island of Jerba, Tunisia. The researchers found:
1) Berber women had a significantly higher prevalence of obesity than Arab women.
2) Berber women had a significantly shorter height than Arab women.
3) Intakes of calcium, zinc, iron and folate were below recommended levels in both men and women of both ethnic groups.
4) Vitamin E intake was significantly higher in Berbers than Arabs.
This document summarizes competitive communication analyses for several luxury automotive brands in 2008, including Audi, BMW, Lexus, Volvo, Infiniti, and Mercedes-Benz. It identifies strengths and weaknesses in each brand's communication strategies and execution based on principles like simplicity, visual impact, avoiding ambiguity, strong storytelling, and focusing on consumer benefits rather than just product attributes. The overall conclusion is that while the brands have moved past focusing solely on attributes, most still struggle with continuing meaningful conversations with consumers at the benefits level, with Mercedes-Benz identified as the most conceptually interesting communicator in the segment.

Online dating has grown to a $4 billion industry, with 17% of married couples meeting online. It is most popular for ages 18-29 but seniors aged 55+ are the fastest growing segment. Motivations for online dating include convenience, eliminating geography barriers, and lessening rejection. However, up to 25% of online daters misrepresent themselves, most commonly being shorter, poorer, or posting older photos than reality. User behavior analysis shows that while all ethnicities are open to online dating, black females are most active but receive least responses and many users still prefer to date within their own race.
This document discusses metaphors, interfaces, and web typography. It covers how metaphors can be used on interfaces through analogies like desktops and shopping carts. It then discusses how webfonts can be embedded using CSS and supported in browsers. Finally, it lists common font formats for the web like TrueType, Embedded Open Type, OpenType, and Web Open Font Format.
2010 focus on the short- and long-term effects of ghrelin on energyAgrin Life
Ghrelin is a peptide hormone that regulates energy homeostasis by stimulating appetite and food intake. It is secreted by the stomach and its levels rise before meals and in response to fasting. Ghrelin activates neurons in the hypothalamus that stimulate appetite and feeding behavior. It also acts on reward centers in the brain to influence food motivation. Long-term, ghrelin promotes weight gain by increasing food intake and fat storage while reducing energy expenditure. Polymorphisms in the ghrelin and ghrelin receptor genes have been linked to obesity and eating disorders. Ghrelin antagonists may help treat obesity by reducing appetite and food intake.
Ossiannilsson mmvc15 the battle for innovation towards opening up educationEbba Ossiannilsson
The document discusses the "battle for innovation towards opening up education." It notes that there are conflicting visions between open education and traditional education, significant advantages to be gained, and a battle over the prevailing narrative. Stakeholders in this battle include educators, students, technology companies, and policymakers. The document argues that strategic decisions need to be made at the macro-level regarding open education given changes in globalization, demographics, and technology. It also asserts that expansion, personalization, networking and automation can enhance education.
The document discusses quality development of e-learning and online learning for the 180 credit occupational therapist program at Luleå University of Technology. It provides information on the program being a distance education program with skills training and laboratory work on campus. It discusses communication tools used like Fronter and Adobe Connect Pro. It also outlines drivers of change in education like technology, globalization, and labor market trends. Key aspects of quality in e-learning are discussed including learning design, media design, and evaluation. Benchmarking of e-learning is presented as a process to improve performance by learning from other institutions.
The document discusses the differences between personal and personalized learning. Personalized learning involves tailoring education for individual learners, but the learner has little control over their path. Personal learning empowers the learner to control what, how, and where they learn based on their own needs and interests. It argues that for learners to become truly effective, they must be able to learn independently by finding their own resources and curriculum outside of formal education systems. Teachers have an important role in cultivating curious, independent learners through feedback loops and guidance.
