families. Through these values, generations continue to uphold
traditions that shape the fabric of Filipino society.
Social
Responsibilities
and Duties
To associate the family members with various social organization
1. The social responsibilities and duties of a home manager
involve associating herself and the other members of the
family with several social organizations like Leo Clubs,
Rotary Clubs, Girl Guides etc. and thereby making the
family an integral part of social development. The family is a
unit of the society and it is also a base unit of the society.
Society helps a person to nurture his/her customs, idealism
and social values.
To teach social customs and manners
2. It is also the duty of a home manager to encourage the
family members in mixing with various people of the society
and also to join with various programmes of the society.
Side by side, she should teach the family members the
social customs, manners and ideology and also encourage
them to exercise those properly.
To encourage the family members in attending social development activities
3. To encourage the family members in attending social
development activities. For the betterment of the society,
the members of the family have to perform various
activities. In this way social development is made. Now-a-
days not only the educational institutions but various social
organizations are also engaged in imparting education.
To encourage the participation of the family members in national programmes
4. The home manager has a social duty to encourage family
members to participate in national programs like
Independence Day and Victory Day. It is a shared
responsibility for citizens to be aware of these programs,
which hold special significance in unveiling national identity
and heritage. Participation in such events fosters a sense of
nationalism among family members.
To help become aware of various national activities
5. Voting is a fundamental national right, and every citizen
should exercise this right. The state provides various facilities
for citizens' well-being, such as roads and sanitation, and it is the
duty of each citizen, including the home manager, to preserve
these resources properly. Proper knowledge of civic duties is
crucial, and the home manager plays a significant role in making
family members aware of national programs and ensuring their
active participation.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the duties and responsibilities of a home manager are
multifaceted and crucial for the smooth functioning and happiness
of a family. Despite possessing essential qualities, a home manager
must actively engage in realizing and performing these
responsibilities to prevent potential disasters. The central role of a
housewife in running the family is emphasized, involving setting
goals, making informed decisions, and bridging the gap between
family aspirations and available resources. The delineation of duties
into family-focused and social responsibilities underscores the
intricate nature of a home manager's role in fostering not only a
harmonious home but also contributing to societal well-being.
