A healthy soil is essential for healthy food and nutrition as it provides ecosystem services like nutrient cycling and climate resilience. Soil biodiversity plays an important role as over 40% of terrestrial organisms are associated with soils. Soil biodiversity is important for provisioning ecosystem services like soil fertility, carbon cycling, and bioremediation. It also supports food security, quality, and safety by influencing the vitamin and micronutrient content of crops.
