•Organized Province Level VGSSM workshops in all 7 provinces to Promote
SSM for Sustainable crop production.
• Crop and Issue prioritization based on geographical conditions.

What did your country do on the World Soil Day?
•Organized LIVE Television Interaction Program in National Television (Dec 5, 2020)
on the topic of World Soil Day and Importance of Soil Biodiversity.
•Organized web conference on “Soil Biodiversity for Healthy Soil” (Dec.4, 2020).
•Advocacy on Soil Biodiversity Conservation through News articles and publications.
•Awareness Generation through mass media.

Conducted Soil Test Campaign through Mobile Soil Test Laboratory and awarded
farmers with Best Soil Biomass content (Dec. 5, 2020)

under Pillar 3
• Encouraged researchers to update fertilizer recommendation and
prepare digital soil map of Nepal
• Collaborated and supported technically for developing soil atlas of
Nepal and development of national soil information system
• Continuously advocating to advertise vacant post of Soil Scientist in
Research Organization.

under Pillar 4
Information and Data
• For National Soil Information System, sporadic data collected,
compilation and assessment is going on and still more to go.
• Soil Surveying is being planned and Digital Soil Mapping of
Nepal is also going on .
• Participated in WRB training, DSM training and 3rd Editorial Board
meeting
• Soil Properties database has been collected for more than 80% of the
cultivated area
• Data compilation and updating going on.

Routine laboratories exist in Nepal
7 (Government) + 8(Research) + 5 (private) = 20
GLOSOLAN member lab : Three laboratories
Quality improvement towards standardization and harmonization of soil analyses
and their interpretation
* SOPs (Soil pH, Total Nitrogen, Available Potassium, Available
Phosphorus, Organic Carbon, Soil Texture)
* Guideline for implementing and maintaining good laboratory
practices and quality management
* National Soil Laboratory Network (NESOLAN)
* Proficiency test (PT) and QA/QC National PT
* National Ring Test Programme anually
