National Report Antónia Neto, GSP Focal point for São Tomé and Príncipe, provided the following updates: São Tomé and Príncipe officially joined GSP/AfSP in 2019. They are currently updating the country's 1958 soil map through soil sampling and analysis. Laboratory technicians are receiving training in soil analysis. Neto has also participated in virtual conferences on soil biodiversity and fertilizers. In 2021, soil and water samples were analyzed for an irrigation project funded by the African Development Bank. Small farmers received training in organic pesticides and biofertilizers. Horticultural producers also received training in composting for soil fertility. In 2020, over 700 farmers benefited from a

• Currently involved in a project to update the draft soil map of the
country (1958): physico-chemical analyzes of samples taken from the
profiles being done.

3. • Feb/ Mar 2021 -performed physico-chemical analyzes of soil and
water samples for a study of the irrigation system in the northeast of
the island of São Tomé financed by the BAD (African Development
Bank) through the PRIASA II.

4. • Training of small farmers on the preparation and production of
organic insecticides and bio-fertilizers carried out by the NGO ADAPA
(Action for Agricultural Development and Environmental Protection)
in partnerships with PRIASA II (Food Safety Infrastructure Project).

5. • Training for horticultural producers in enriching organic compost for
soil fertility through the convention with PRIASA II in 2020.

6. • April 2020: Government of São Tomé and Príncipe, through the Ministry of
Agriculture and Rural Development sensitized the São Toméan society to
produce and consume local products, taking advantage of the lots, plots,
vegetable gardens and backyards. 719 farmers benefited from this
campaign.
• And for this, the Ministry of Agriculture had 6 sources of funding: for the purchase
of various seeds and agricultural inputs.
