Patient education is the process of influencing patient behavior to produce changes in knowledge, attitudes, and skills to maintain and improve health. It requires selecting staff to consistently teach patients without confusion. The education plan is communicated to the patient, family, doctors, nurses, and healthcare team, and each member's role is explained. The plan is then documented in the patient's file for follow-up and evaluation.

11. f) Selection of staff for teaching :-
It is quite important to render a planned, consistent
approach in patient education and avoid duplication
unnecessarily and confusing the presentation of the
material.
g) Communicating the patient education :-
The patient education plan is communicated to the
patient/family, physician, other nursing personnel and
health team members. The role of each member should
be explained to them and the plan should be drawn with
collaborative effort.
h) Documenting the patient education plan :-
The patient education plan is documented in the
patients care plan and or educators file. This plan is used
for follow-up and evaluation.
