OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the
students should be able to:
a. describe a bow;
b. perform hand sewn bow; and
c. appreciate the beauty of a
handmade bow.
TRADE TERMS:
 bow- a knot of cloth with
a curve part on both
sides and two loose ends
 knot - an ornamental
fastener of the bow
TRADE TERMS:
 right side – the front of a piece of fabric having
a distinct front and back
-sometimes called “public side”
TRADE TERMS:
 running stitch - basic stitch that is made in series of
short stitches of same length, several run-on
needle at once.
TRADE TERMS:
 seam – the stitching that joins
two or more edges of fabric
to form a garment
 trim- to make neat by cutting
away excess parts and to
make it even
REMINDERS
1. Prepare all the needed materials.
2. An elbow of thread is appropriate to use for
easy sewing.
3. Anchor the pin to the pin cushion when not in
use.
4. Use a scissors in cutting the thread, not your
teeth.
5. Stay alert while working.
6. Clean the workplace before and after working.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
 5”x8” cloth  1.5 x 3” cloth
 Thread
TOOLS AND MATERIALS

 hand needle  pin cushion
 scissors
PROCEDURE
For the Bow:
1. Prepare a 5”x 8” of fabric.
2. With right sides together, fold the fabric in half
lengthways and stitch (running stitch) along the
length. Ensure to provide an opening at the
center for about ¾ inch in length.
3. Center the seam on the underside of the tube.
4. Stitch both ends of the tube to close it.
5. Turn the fabric to face right side out through
the opening.
6. Gather the center to form the bow and secure
with a few stitches. Set aside.
For the knot:
1.Prepare 1.5” x 3” of fabric.
2.With right sides together, fold the fabric in half
lengthways and stitch along the length, leaving
the short edges open.
3.Pull the fabric to face right side out then trim
excess thread at both edges.
4. Place the seam on the center then fold the strip
in half.
5.Sew a few stitches (¼ “) from the edge. This will
form the circle for the knot of the bow.
Forming the Bow:
1. Tack in the knot at the center of the bow.
2. Secure the knot with a few stitches to the bow
to keep the knot from moving.

HAND MADE BOW

  • 5. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to: a. describe a bow; b. perform hand sewn bow; and c. appreciate the beauty of a handmade bow.
  • 6. TRADE TERMS:  bow- a knot of cloth with a curve part on both sides and two loose ends  knot - an ornamental fastener of the bow
  • 7. TRADE TERMS:  right side – the front of a piece of fabric having a distinct front and back -sometimes called “public side”
  • 8. TRADE TERMS:  running stitch - basic stitch that is made in series of short stitches of same length, several run-on needle at once.
  • 9. TRADE TERMS:  seam – the stitching that joins two or more edges of fabric to form a garment  trim- to make neat by cutting away excess parts and to make it even
  • 10. REMINDERS 1. Prepare all the needed materials. 2. An elbow of thread is appropriate to use for easy sewing. 3. Anchor the pin to the pin cushion when not in use. 4. Use a scissors in cutting the thread, not your teeth. 5. Stay alert while working. 6. Clean the workplace before and after working.

  • 12. TOOLS AND MATERIALS  headband  hand needle  pin cushion  scissors
  • 13. PROCEDURE For the Bow: 1. Prepare a 5”x 8” of fabric.
  • 14. 2. With right sides together, fold the fabric in half lengthways and stitch (running stitch) along the length. Ensure to provide an opening at the center for about ¾ inch in length.
  • 15. 3. Center the seam on the underside of the tube. 4. Stitch both ends of the tube to close it.
  • 16. 5. Turn the fabric to face right side out through the opening.
  • 17. 6. Gather the center to form the bow and secure with a few stitches. Set aside.
  • 18. For the knot: 1.Prepare 1.5” x 3” of fabric.
  • 19. 2.With right sides together, fold the fabric in half lengthways and stitch along the length, leaving the short edges open.
  • 20. 3.Pull the fabric to face right side out then trim excess thread at both edges. 4. Place the seam on the center then fold the strip in half.
  • 21. 5.Sew a few stitches (¼ “) from the edge. This will form the circle for the knot of the bow.
  • 22. Forming the Bow: 1. Tack in the knot at the center of the bow.
  • 23. 2. Secure the knot with a few stitches to the bow to keep the knot from moving.
