Habit 5 discusses the importance of listening before speaking in order to understand others. It identifies five poor listening styles such as spacing out or only listening to words that prevent understanding. The document recommends genuinely listening with eyes, heart and ears, putting yourself in others' shoes, and mirroring what they say to understand their perspective before offering your own. Mastering this habit of seeking first to understand promotes effective communication and positive relationships.

Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, has been a top-seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its fifteenth year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new foreword and afterword written by Covey exploring the question of whether the 7 Habits are still relevant and answering some of the most common questions he has received over the past 15 years.

In his own words, "The relationship & the sequence among the Habits are the key to the overall power."
It is most recommended that one learns all the 7 Habits in order.

Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.
https://bit.ly/BabeSideDoll4u Babeside is a company that specializes in creating handcrafted reborn dolls. These dolls are designed to be incredibly lifelike, with realistic skin tones and hair, and they have become increasingly popular among collectors and those who use them for therapeutic purposes. At Babeside, we believe that our reborn dolls can provide comfort and healing to anyone who needs it.
The Healing Power of Babeside's Handcrafted Creations
Our reborn dolls are more than just beautiful pieces of art - they can also help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. Studies have shown that holding or cuddling a soft object like a stuffed animal or a reborn doll can release oxytocin, which is often referred to as the "love hormone." This hormone helps us feel calm and relaxed, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.
In addition to their physical benefits, reborn dolls can also offer emotional support. For many people, having something to care for and nurture can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Reborn dolls can also serve as a reminder of happy memories or loved ones who have passed away.
1. Habit 5:
Seek First to Understand,
then to Be Understood
By Kacha, Phoom, Wuthipat, Soravas, Norraputt, and
Chayanisa
2. Habit 5
The key to communication and having power and
influence with people can be summed up in one
sentence:
Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
In other words, listen first, talk second.
3. Habit 5
The deepest need of human heart is to be understood.
Everyone wants to be respected and valued for who
they are—a unique, one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-cloned
(at least for now) individual.
4. FIVE POOR LISTENING STYLES
• Spacing out
• Pretend listening
• Selective listening
• Word listening
• Self-centered listening
5. Spacing Out
When someone is talking to us but we ignore them
because our mind is wandering off in another galaxy.
6. Pretend Listening
• When we aren’t paying much attention but we
pretend we are by making insightful comments
• such as yeah, cool, sounds great
8. Word listening
When we actually pay attention to what someone is
saying, but we listen only to the words, not to the body
language, the feelings, or the true meaning behind the
words.
9. Self-centred Listening
When we see everything from our own point of view.
“Instead of standing in another’s shoes, we want them
to stand in ours”
10. Judging
• Sometimes, as we listen to others, we make
judgments about them and what they’re saying.
• If you are judging people, how will you have a
time to listen?
11. Advising
• “ This is when we give advice drawn from our
own experience.”
• Instead of listening of what being said, you think
about your own personal experience and give
advice based on that.
12. Probing
• “ Probing occurs when you try to dig up
emotions before people are ready to share them.”
• Parents probe teenagers all the time.
• People feel like they are being interrogated.
13. Genuine listening
1. Listen with your eyes, heart, and ears
• 7% of communication is contained in words, 53% is body
language, 40% is tone of voice
• For example, you can change the meaning of a sentence
just by emphasizing different words:
• I didn’t say you had an attitude problem.
• I didn’t say you had an attitude problem
14. Genuine listening
2. Stand in their shoes
• Take off your shoes and stand in another’s
• “Unless you walk a mile in another man’s moccasins you
can’t imagine the smell” -Robert Byrne
• Many people look at conversations as a competition, it’s
my point of view vs. yours
• Put your’s aside and listen to what they have to say
15. Genuine Listening
3. Practice Mirroring
• Think like a mirror
• What does a mirror do? It doesn’t judge, it doesn’t give
advice, it reflects
• Repeat back what the other person is saying and feeling
• Phrases: “As I get it, you felt that…”, “So, as I see it…”, “I
can see that you’re feeling”, “You feel that…”
16. Communicating with Parents
• If you want to improve your relationship with your
parents, try listening to them
• Parents have problems too, worrying about jobs, how they
will pay for your braces, unfulfilled dreams
• They laugh, cry, get their feelings hurt, and don’t always
have it together, just like you and me
17. Seek first to understand, then to
be understood
• Summary:
• Take the time to really listen to people
• Make sure that you are letting them say what they need to
say, and then you speak
• Make sure that you are willing to listen to everyone that
you talk to, this includes friends, parents, other adults,
etc.
• When you really listen to what people are saying, you can
better understand what is being said
18. Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood
Thank you
