This document provides guidance for planning and carrying out a community service project called EIS Give Back. It recommends appointing leaders, choosing a project type focused on skills, service, hobbies or awareness, selecting a target community such as children or seniors, planning the budget, equipment and programs, implementing the project, evaluating it, and creating a final written report. The steps outlined include appointing leaders, choosing a project nature and target group, planning the logistics, implementing the project, evaluating the results, and documenting it in a report.
Asset mapping is a planning tool. It\'s the synthesizing of your organizational resources – networks, people, links, and patterns – in order to build on what’s working and address challenges. Asset mapping may be the spark your need to discover, access, and mobilize unrecognized resources, and engage people who can participate in your community/organization/vision.

This Project is part of the Master of “Landscape Design and Environmental Planning In the Mediterranean Area” Program, Under the supervision of Prof. Uta Zorzi Muhlmann.
This Project is to design an urban park in the suburb of province of Catania “ San Giovanni Galermo” with a population just near 14849 according to the statistics of 1997.
The site is with an area of 23000 m2 divided to three parts , the two northern parts with areas 2750 m2 and 4120 m2.
Our goal is to have a park that deliver all of the activities needed by it’s users and to develop a new mutual activities between them.
It has to be a Dynamic and to Host diversity between man and nature.
We are an all-volunteer, non-profit organization in Lafayette, CA. Our main focus is on hunger relief and we do our work by harvesting backyard fruit for donation to foodbank, soup kitchens and charity that can use the food.
We partner with social justice organizations that care about the poor and the hungry by pooling our resources, The Urban Farmers provides the shared community resources, such as a vehicle, equipment, tools, insurance and software tools and each partner provides their own leader, volunteer and make an effort at finding local fruit trees.
We hope to build a community that can serve a lot of people without the need for a large organization.

QUOVIS is a purpose-built vehicle for wheelchair users ... hand controls for gas & brake, air-conditioning, and power accessories are standard. QUOVIS features front wheel drive, a Constant Velocity Transmission (CVT) and is powered by a 505cc fuel-injected computer controlled engine. This technology enables Quovis drivers to achieve 90 mpg in urban areas. Quovis retails for $24,275, which is less than half the price of an adapted mini-van from GM, Ford or Chrysler (OEM). The mobility industry continues to re-manufacture OEM vans which sell for $65,000 + disability controls. The New Generation Quovis will feature more powerful GM engines: Gas, hybrid and diesel/ CNG for commercial use.
The Quovis product line applies Universal Design, a framework for the design of places, things, information, communication and policy to be usable by the widest range of people operating in the widest range of situations without special or separate design. A QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF RESILIENCY AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AMONG MULTIRAC...Brett Burton
The purpose of this study is to explore the six attributes of the Resiliency for Academic Success framework and the possible relationship to academic achievement among urban high school students with a focus on multiracial students. Trueba identified six resiliency traits for academic success in his framework: intelligent planning in the pursuit of major goals, delaying gratification for the sake of future rewards, willingness to learn a new language and culture, ability to appreciate and use family support during crises, ability to use multiple personal identities in the process of communicating with others, loyalty to school and family and the wisdom to pursue academic excellence with the love and support of teachers and parents, and spiritual strength based on religious, cultural, and linguistic values. Academic achievement was measured by reading and math scores, which are mandatory assessments required for graduation in the state of Illinois. The study used quantitative research analyses: descriptive statistics, correlation, ANOVA, and regression. The sample included 521 students from five diverse high schools, but only 377 students from the five high schools had PSAE reading and math scores to correspond with completed surveys. The findings demonstrated that the multiracial students were not significantly different than other
racial groups (Caucasian, African-Americans, Hispanics, and multiracial) in academic achievement. Multiracial students (N=85) in the study had similar levels with mean and standard deviation scores to Caucasian students (n=136). ANOVA demonstrated that differences existed between groups in PSAE reading, but no significant differences existed between racial groups in PSAE math. The regression analyses showed that all students (N=377) had the same three Resiliency for Academic Success factors (overall resiliency average, Spiritual strength, and Willingness to learn a new language and culture) that were predictive in reading and math PSAE. In addition, all students (N=377) showed that the Resiliency for Academic Success characteristic of Ability to use family support during crises was predictive of math PSAE scores.

Discussion: Personal and Professional Social Work Values
Heterosexism is defined as "the discrimination or prejudice by heterosexuals against homosexuals" (merriam-webster.com) and is predicated on the belief that being heterosexual is the norm and the only accepted type of relationship.
Everyday heterosexism is exemplified in our media, our policies, and daily practices. By making these assumptions, social workers can be in part culpable for the oppression and marginalization experienced by the LGBTQ community.
As a profession, social work embraces diversity and strives to ensure equal rights for all. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is committed to supporting the needs of these groups and, in turn, they created the National Committee on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues. During this week's discussion you will be asked to consider how one's own personal views on sexual orientation may clash with the profession's stance.
By Day 3
Post a scenario of how a social worker's personal, ethical, and moral values in relation to the LGBTQ community might conflict with those of their clients. Explain the distinction between personal ethics and values and professional ethics and values evident in the social work profession in addressing this community. Be specific and explain how this distinction relates to the scenario you posted. Also explain how prejudice and bias might create barriers to fulfilling your professional responsibility to the LGBTQ community.
Assignment 1: Project Progress
In Week 10, you will submit a recorded PowerPoint presentation on a cultural event in which you participate. This final project allows faculty to evaluate how you integrate the various concepts related to diversity, human rights, and social justice. You will be expected to evaluate course content as you share aspects of your experience. This Week, you are asked to provide an updated on your progress.
It is recommended that you to attend the event no later than Week 8 to prevent last minute challenges with this assignment, such as in the case when an event is cancelled. The event should be open to the public and be related to a diverse social identity. Places that may list cultural events, meetings, or experiences include your local or neighborhood newspaper, church bulletins, local colleges, primary schools, or your local library.
Below are some possible ideas:
Check your Office of Multicultural Affairs
Town hall meeting in another part of town
Local churches
Local training
Local Agencies
Identify local multicultural communities to see if there are any events
Pride Event/Parade
Contact a town visitor center
Civic Committee
If you have difficulty identifying a cultural event in your community, please contact your Instructor immediately.
For this Week’s assignment, consider a short checklist of items to confirm you are prepared for this assignment.
By Day 5 of Week 7
Submit your response to the following prompts.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
