Every Teacher is a
Guidance Counselor
Many parents and teachers and think that
anything to do with discipline problems among students
know matter how simple belongs to the guidance office.
The common expression among classroom teachers is “It
is the work of the Guidance Counselor”. “I’ll bring you to
the guidance office”, has become a handy threat . The
Guidance Office is a scary mention and a very unpopular
place to students.
Every educator must
realized his responsibility as a
guidance counselor by right,
commission and function.
Guidance is a good teaching
and efficient classroom
management. If he cannot guide
his student surely he cannot
teach them.
Guidance and counseling is
simply empowering a person to
decide how he can best
accomplish his purposes, what
he needs to do or where he
should go. It does not solve
problem for the individual but
facilitates the way for him to
solve them himself.
Basics Principles that the Teacher has
to Instill in His Minds and Heart while
He Guides and Counsels.
a.Guidance assist individuals
to develop the ability to understand
themselves, to solve their own
problems, and to make appropriate
adjustments to their environment
b.Guidance recognize the
worth and dignity of the client and
his right to personal assistance in
times of need. It must respect the
right of every student to seek help
and any of the guidance services.
To counsel students with learning, physical,
social, and emotional problems,
To identify students with special needs.
To maintain accurate and up-to-date
permanent record folders.
The Role of the Teacher as
Guidance Counselor
Guidance Notebook
Anecdotal Records of Students
Duties and Responsibilities of a
teacher include the following:
-Keeps the anecdotal records of
students up-to-date;
-Checks/records the students’
performance;
Keeps parents informed on students’
progress; and
-Prepares and submits necessary
forms and reports.
-The effective teacher keeps accurate anecdotal
records of students. They are kept confidential
unless needed to clarify events, positive or
negative.
-Students have the right to have free expressions
of opinions and suggestions and to avail of
relevant information from teachers.
-Students have the right to have access to their
own school records, which shall be maintained
and preserved in a confidential manner by the
school.
-The teacher usually prepares an
anecdotal record for each
pupil/student in order to make the
learner and parents understand
his/her academic performance.
-Anecdotal records of students in the
elementary and secondary levels are
usually prepared and filed by the
teacher-adviser or the Guidance
Counselor. There is no standard
format of anecdotal records
prescribed by the school.
The sample class anecdotal records
indicate the grade and section, names
of pupils, the incidental report, and
some remarks. This is usually done
immediately after each critical incident
for recording purposes, for
documentation, and for justification of
pupils’ behavior.

  • 2. Every Teacher is a Guidance Counselor
  • 3. Many parents and teachers and think that anything to do with discipline problems among students know matter how simple belongs to the guidance office. The common expression among classroom teachers is “It is the work of the Guidance Counselor”. “I’ll bring you to the guidance office”, has become a handy threat . The Guidance Office is a scary mention and a very unpopular place to students.
  • 4. Every educator must realized his responsibility as a guidance counselor by right, commission and function. Guidance is a good teaching and efficient classroom management. If he cannot guide his student surely he cannot teach them.
  • 5. Guidance and counseling is simply empowering a person to decide how he can best accomplish his purposes, what he needs to do or where he should go. It does not solve problem for the individual but facilitates the way for him to solve them himself.
  • 6. Basics Principles that the Teacher has to Instill in His Minds and Heart while He Guides and Counsels.
  • 7. a.Guidance assist individuals to develop the ability to understand themselves, to solve their own problems, and to make appropriate adjustments to their environment b.Guidance recognize the worth and dignity of the client and his right to personal assistance in times of need. It must respect the right of every student to seek help and any of the guidance services.
  • 8. To counsel students with learning, physical, social, and emotional problems, To identify students with special needs. To maintain accurate and up-to-date permanent record folders. The Role of the Teacher as Guidance Counselor
  • 10. Duties and Responsibilities of a teacher include the following: -Keeps the anecdotal records of students up-to-date; -Checks/records the students’ performance; Keeps parents informed on students’ progress; and -Prepares and submits necessary forms and reports.
  • 11. -The effective teacher keeps accurate anecdotal records of students. They are kept confidential unless needed to clarify events, positive or negative. -Students have the right to have free expressions of opinions and suggestions and to avail of relevant information from teachers. -Students have the right to have access to their own school records, which shall be maintained and preserved in a confidential manner by the school.
  • 12. -The teacher usually prepares an anecdotal record for each pupil/student in order to make the learner and parents understand his/her academic performance. -Anecdotal records of students in the elementary and secondary levels are usually prepared and filed by the teacher-adviser or the Guidance Counselor. There is no standard format of anecdotal records prescribed by the school.
  • 13. The sample class anecdotal records indicate the grade and section, names of pupils, the incidental report, and some remarks. This is usually done immediately after each critical incident for recording purposes, for documentation, and for justification of pupils’ behavior.
