COPHC's 2021 annual report outlines its efforts to make Gwadar a green city in alignment with Pakistan's Clean and Green vision. It established a plant tissue culture lab and greenhouse for research and growing saplings. It successfully trial planted various drought-resistant species across 5000 acres and parks. Plans for 2022 include expanding plantations, raising awareness, and introducing solar power. Key challenges include ensuring a stable water supply and financing for the 10 million tree initiative. COPHC is willing to share its experience to involve all stakeholders in developing a smart, sustainable green Gwadar.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

are grown successfully.
13. Sudangrass: COPHC successfully planted 3 acres on trail basis , these tall, fast-growing, heat-loving summer
annual grasses can smother weeds, suppress some nematode species and penetrate compacted subsoil . The
crop is used as pasture for dairy and beef cows, sheep, and goats, and as a feed for poultry. After the trail
basis we are planning to expand it to 5000 acres .

23. Experience--Scientific Research and survey
With the help of Yulin Ecologic Co. Ltd, China Academy and many other professional firms and well-known
science institutes, various scientific researches relevant to plantation have been performed. As per the soil
test, weather, water, existing plants and trees, some preferred species have been proposed and trials have
been done.

The theme of this ceremony is “Green and
Clean Pakistan” and “Gwadar Million Tree
Plantation Program.
Launch Of Clean
Green Gwadar
Project :
34. Plan 2022
We will share our experience and extent our hands to all public authorities in order to expand this
programme outside the Free Zone .
Getting it implemented in North Free Zone by planting 500,000 tress.
Organize seminars to create awareness and expand our influence to benefit more people and
environment.
Introducing solar power to Gwadar for clean energy .
Implement activity based visit for concerned specialists to get insight from our successful model.
Conduct workshops and seminars to promote green city awareness.
35. Plan 2022 (Large Scale Implementation)
Actions Required for Extension Of This Model Outside Free Zone:
1) Early approval of Gwadar Green Fund.
2) Prioritize actions in four essential areas: energy, transportation, food, and housing.
3) Construction of infrastructure that is resource-efficient and based on renewable energy sources.
4) Identification of public sites.
5) A detailed planation plan for next five years.
6) Water availability in Gwadar city .
7) Technical innovations with the potential to radically reduce CO2 emissions are required on top
priority basis to make Gwadar a sustainable green city
37. Experience-Water
Water has been very scarce in Gwadar, a reasonable ecological irrigation system by way of sprinkler or drip
irrigation system has been established in the port and Free Zone by utilizing the waste water treatment.
However, water is a big challenge for the 10 million plantation project . Due to hot weather an uninterpreted
water supply system is required to increase plantation success rate.
Construction of Sprinkler Irrigation System in Park Construction of drip irrigation system in parks
38. Finances
Plantation & maintenance of 10 Million trees in Gwadar city require systemic financing to generate
and maintain uninterrupted flow of funds. A proper Finance mechanism may be established through
possible collaboration with local Businesses, Organizations, Government & Public . It is suggested:
1. Government Budget = 70%
2. Investor Investment= 20%
3. Public donation= 10%
39. Land Use
Gwadar is a ideal place to emerge as an attractive tourist destination. The city owns beautiful virgin
beaches, large open spaces coastline of around 1,000 kilometers from Karachi to Gwadar. The land
usage in Gwadar should be of high priority which may have long-term consequences. As bio-productive
space is a issue in already developed cities due to scarce resource,so its critical for municipal
administration and city planner to choose amongst various land-use types. A clear roadmap to keep in
balance the political, economic, and business interests in order to achieve long-term environmental
and social sustainability.
40. Saplings
If Five million saplings are produced and planted every year.Planting 10 million seedlings will take two
years.
50,000,00
10,000,000
1Year
2Years
41. Other Issues
Its seriously observed that during mass plantation & after project completion
there will be a serious issue of manpower and maintenance of plants. For this
purpose, a significant long-term investment is required for enhancement and
maintenance of trees.
Develop external and internal sustainability training programs.
Collaboration with environment experts, academic institutes, research
centers to plan, monitor and evaluate establishment of green spaces .
42. Research,
Development
&

Wider Collaboration & Engagement
To achieve one Million trees target COPHC is willing to share its experience and ready to extend its
hands to all stakeholders whether it be local government, industry players, school community, citizens
etc for the development of smart and sustainable Green Gwadar City.
