1. Witty Titles For Essays
Writing an essay on the topic "Witty Titles for Essays" can be both challenging and amusing. On
one hand, the subject invites creativity and a playful exploration of language, but on the other
hand, finding that perfect blend of wit and relevance can be a daunting task.
Crafting witty titles requires a deep understanding of the essay's content, as the title should not
only capture the essence of the piece but also engage the reader's curiosity. It demands a delicate
balance between humor and substance, ensuring that the title is not only clever but also conveys
the underlying message or theme of the essay.
The difficulty lies in navigating the fine line between being too obscure and too straightforward.
Striking the right chord with the audience is crucial, as a title that is overly complex may alienate
readers, while one that is too simplistic might fail to pique their interest. The challenge,
therefore, is to create a title that serves as a magnetic force, drawing readers in without giving
away too much.
Furthermore, the process involves a fair amount of trial and error. Experimenting with different
wordplay, puns, and linguistic devices is necessary to discover that elusive combination that
resonates with the intended audience. It's a journey of creative exploration, often requiring
multiple iterations to achieve the desired impact.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on "Witty Titles for Essays" may seem like a lighthearted
endeavor, it entails a considerable amount of thought and effort. The writer must navigate the
intricate landscape of language and humor to produce a title that is not only clever but also
reflective of the essay's content. It's a task that demands creativity, precision, and a keen
understanding of the audience.

Business Assignment
Part A.
To what extent do Professor s Ariely s ideas help us evaluate the effectiveness of
Jamie Oliver s management approach?
Professor s Ariely s speech on the effects of management does, to a certain extent help
us evaluate the effectiveness of Jamie Oliver s hands on management approach. As a
manager, Jamie Oliver would take a personal interest in his students; providing them
with training, support (paying for their transport if necessary) and visiting their
homes. This allowed Jamie to develop trust and respect with his students and in
return, the students established a trust with him. If a manager is attentive and
acknowledges their efforts, employees are more likely to uphold their motivation.
One example that was presented by Professor Ariely demonstrated this idea that if
people s endeavours are recognised, then they will work for longer. The experiment
whereby people matched pairs of letters in three different conditions showed results
that backed up this hypothesis. In the first condition, they wrote their name,
completed the worksheet and showed it to the experimenter, who then scanned it and
put it in the pile. The second condition, people did not write their name, completed
the worksheet, gave it to the experimenter and without looking at it, placed it in the
pile. The final condition, the experimenter simply put the completed worksheet in the
shredder. In the first condition where the work was acknowledged people worked for
3. Students At The University Of Wisconsin Madison
Students often do not take advantage of the opportunities available to them in the
wider community because of a wide variety of engagement and extra curricular
opportunities offered on college campuses.
Students at the University of Wisconsin Madison can take advantage of the campus
urban location to explore and build connections with the local community, in addition
to furthering skills gained from the classroom.
At college, students are often surrounded by others who are similar to them mostly
between ages of 18 and 22, pursuing a college education and beyond. The
homogeneity within the campus bubble can make students forget what the real world
is like.
You re really missing something if you just come here for school and you don t step
off of campus and explore living in a brand new place on your own, Ashley Viager,
Assistant Director of Chadbourne Residential College, said.
It is also important to understand that community extends beyond campus to the
entire city, Stephanie Harrill, Badger Volunteers director, said. This is especially
beneficial during a time of growth and development at a higher education institution.
This kind of awareness allows for students to not only make the best out of their
college experience but also contribute and help their communities to better the
environment around them.
Community engagement also gives students the opportunity to apply theoretical
concepts into the real world to consolidate knowledge in a way that classroom

SIMULATION OF DOUBLE SLOPE SOLAR STILL AT DIFFFERENT
INCLINATIONS USING CFD
Abstract
Solar distillation system proves to be a good and cost effective method for water
purification. The function of solar still is to produce fresh water based on
evaporation process, utilizing the solar radiation as the source of energy. Solar still is
a device which uses process of solar distillation. A 3 dimensional solar still is
modelled at 3 different glass cover inclinations and is brought into Ansys cfd where
temperature distribution in the solar still over a period of time due to direct solar
irradiation over a particular location is calculated.
Introduction Distillation is a process which is used to obtain fresh water from salty,
brackish or contaminated water. Without fresh water human life is not possible even
industries and agriculture also need fresh water. Earlier fresh water is easily
available from rivers, lakes and ponds in plenty. Now it s becoming scarce because of
industrialization. Growing population leads to assumption that by the year 2025 two
thirds of the population will lack sufficient fresh water. The areas with the water
shortages are the warm, arid countries in the northern Africa and southern Asia within
the latitudes 15 35ВєN. Sunlight is one of several forms of heat energy that can be
used to power the process of water purification. It is difficult to use solar thermal
energy in large scale plants because of low thermal efficiency and considerable land

6. Aeneid Character Analysis
The Aeneid is an epic poem about the man whose descendants will found Rome.
Aeneas, is portrayed as a warrior and leader to his people and, as his name
represents, stayed duty bound to his destiny to get to Italy to found Rome. Aeneas
first exhibits many great qualities as a leader, he is probably not a perfect leader but
he has the best leadershipskills out of all the other characters in the Aeneid. In other
words, Aeneas becomes the golden standard for leadership that Virgilportrays.
Second, although Aeneas often seems to stray from his path or become
disheartened, he remains duty bound to his task and is readily able to rally his
men and make allies. Even though Aeneas makes mistakes or loses heart, he still is
able to perform the role of leader quite adequately throughout the Aeneid. Lastly, the
point of all of this, what could be argued Virgil is trying to promote with his epic
poem, is that being a leader means to be something bigger than one s self. As
Aeneas, and Augustus may also, find out is that leadership often involves many
sacrifices and hardship. This means that the Aeneid conveys a message of sacrifice
for the good of one s country, that it is an honorable duty that must be performed no
matter the circumstances or chance of success. Moving on, Aeneas demonstrates an
excellent character of leadership throughout the Aeneid, even through flawed
behavior does Aeneas showcase his leadership abilities, and all of this ties back to
what it means to be a great
7. Education Of West Afric A Little Background Information
Education In West Africa Illiteracy rates in West Africa are the highest in the world
(Dakar). In the United States the ability to read with competence, or even receiving
education to do so, is something that s often taken for granted. We often forget that
this privilege is not universally shared. This is especially true in West Africa.
Communities there lack the resources and structured society to provide citizens with
opportunities to increase their literacy. What the current educationis like in west africa

education system in West Africa came to be, a little background information is

When you look at these issues at the surface it s easy to tell that something is wrong,
but something has to be done to create solutions to these problems.
In the article Too Little Access, Not Enough Learning, it states that one of the
main struggles that these West African schools face is not making national
headlines. This may not seem like a big problem, but raising awareness is one of
the best ways resolve many flaws in West Africa s education system. In the article
Walkins also states that children go hungry for want of textbooks, good teachers
and a chance to learn which is pretty powerful because these kids are facing outside
challenges that are often looked past by first world countries. West Africa has also
recently endured an epidemic that has taken the counties by storm: the Ebola virus.
Bordner explained in his article Post Ebola Challenges for Education in West Africa,
that the education sector got hit extremely hard and many school and universities
had to shut down, which put a major set back on the already poor education system.
Bordner also states in the article that although the Ebola effect was very devastating,
many of the universities and schools are now responding and rebounding in a timely
manner to get the education system back on track. For the average American, our
days are spent going to school or work, going home, and focusing on ourselves. It s a
pretty easy life even though at times it may feel stressful and overwhelming. Imagine
8. Tension In Monkey s Paw
In the story, Monkey s Paw , the author shows mystery and tension. The paw is a
dried, mummified monkey s paw that had a spell put on it. The spell allowed you
to have three wishes, but the wishes would not always happen the way you would
expect. The first part of the story unfolds at the White s house. The author W.W.
Jacobs tells each story with a bit of mystery and tension. For example, Jacobs
opens the scene with the wind howling and blowing against the house. This causes
the reader to expect mystery because it gives an eerie vibe. Jacobs writes, As I
wished it twisted around in my hand. , gave the reader a sense of mystery. It also
leaves questions unanswered, like Why did it move? or Did it really move? Jacobs
creates a lot of mystery and tension throughout the whole story.... Show more content

which then in turn foreshadows what happens next. A strange man was pacing next

the White s Herbert died, but there was a compensation for his death. How much?
said the father. Two hundred pounds , was the answer. The couple screamed in
horror because they wished with the monkey s paw for that money. This, of course,
creates tension. The White s never knew that in wishing for money they would have

9. The Management of Organizational Culture
THE MANAGEMENT OF ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE
Lesley Willcoxson Bruce Millett ABSTRACT Culture is a term that is used regularly
in workplace discussions. It is taken for granted that we understand what it means.
The purpose of this paper is to identify and discuss some of the significant issues
relating to the management of an organisation s culture. As organisational cultures are
born within the context of broader cultural contexts such as national or ethic
groupings, the paper will commence by defining culture in the wider social context.
This definition will subsequently form the basis for discussion of definitions of
organisational culture and the paradigms and perspectives that underpin these. The
paper will then discuss the issue of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Australian culture, for example, may thus arguably be described as more similar to
that of the United States of America than to that of Malaysia. Cultures are based in
history, developing over time as groups establish patterns of behaviour and belief that
seem effective in helping them to interpret and interact with the world in which they
find themselves. Australian mateship behaviour, for example, served early male
white settlers in a harsh and sparsely populated world much better than the
maintenance of the hierarchical class distinctions typical of the world from which
they had come. From such new, adaptive patterns of behaviour arise new beliefs, such
as a belief in egalitarianism. These new behaviours, values and beliefs, together with
the associated rituals, myths and symbols that arise to support them, combine over
time to establish and then to reinforce the core assumptions of the culture. In addition
to providing implicit guidelines for behaviour and the channelling of emotion (Trice
Beyer 1993), cultures serve to give people a sense of belonging through collective
identity and thus break down the intrinsic isolation of the individual. It is also
important to realise that culture can also define differences between groups. Culture
identifies particular groups by their similarities as well as their differences. Although
cultures are dynamic to the extent that changed circumstances can lead to the
incorporation of new patterns of

P. falciparum.[ Malaria is caused by an infection with protozoa of the genus
Plasmodium. The name malaria, from the Italian mala aria, meaning bad air ,
comes from the linkage suggested by Giovanni Maria Lancisi (1717) of malaria
with the poisonous vapours of swamps. This species name comes from the Latin
falx, meaning sickle , and parere meaning to give birth . The organism itself was first
seen by Laveran on November 6, 1880 at a military hospital in Constantine, Algeria,
when he discovered a microgametocyte exflagellating. Patrick Manson (1894)
hypothesised that mosquitoes could transmit malaria. This hypothesis was
experimentally confirmed independently by Giovanni Battista Grassi and Ronald
Ross in 1898. Grassi (1900) proposed an exerythrocytic stage in the life cycle, later
confirmed by Short, Garnham, Covell and Shute (1948), who found Plasmodium

11. Education And Poverty In Achieving The American Dream
We know when we open the doors to college, we open the doors to opportunity.
When we make college more affordable, we make the American dream more
achievable. William Clinton gave this remark on Launching the Agenda for Higher
Education and Lifetime Learning in 2000. Education and achieving the American
Dream go hand in hand. Education and poverty go hand in hand. Lack of education
and poverty are very strong barriers that hinder millions of Americans from achieving
the American Dream. There have been countless tries to help lower the poverty rate
and increase the number of Americans above the poverty line, but almost all of these
tries have failed due to the lack of education on the behalf of the Americans in
poverty. Abraham Lincolnhelped to weaken the barrier of poverty and its correlation
to lack of education by creating the Land Grant Act, later passing the Morrill Act of
1890 and creating, passing, and enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation. Poverty
and its correlation to lack of education have been hindering American citizens from a
full life, and achieving the American Dream.
Poverty is a hard concept for people to put into words. Ruby Payne states a working
definition of poverty in her book A Framework for Understanding Poverty in which
she says, The extent to which an individual does without resources (7). For a better
look, the dictionary defines poverty as the state of one who lacks a usual or socially
acceptable amount of money or material possessions
12. Beowulf As An Epic Hero Essay
Every epic hero possesses certain heroic characteristics. Beowulf, like other epic
heroes, possesses the following heroic qualities: epic heroes are superhuman types
of beings. They have a noble birth and show great bravery. They display great
intelligence and resourcefulness. They have a reverence for G d and for the values
of their society. They are dominant male figures and suffer severe pain, but in the
end, they conquer evil (Vivone 9/27/99). In addition to Beowulfs heroic qualities, he
is very strong. Beowulf was said to have the strength of thirty [men] in his mighty
handgrip (Bloom11). Early proof of Beowulf s extraordinary strength is evidenced by
his dismemberment of Grendel s limb, the fightin the cave under water, and the...

In the morning, warriors look for the body of Grendel by following his bloody trail.
They cannot find his body and turn back. Hrothgar s men finally think that they no
longer will be plagued with the presence of the monster and that now they can sleep
in peace.
However, their sleep did not last long. During the night, Grendel s mother came to
avenge her son s death. She enters the hall and grabs Aeschere and her son s arm.
Beowulf goes to follow her and swims for an entire day in her pool before he sees
the bottom of the mere. When Beowulf descends into Grendel s mere, he loses
ground as the fight progresses. It is then assumed that Beowulf is fighting
desperately for his life. Then, the water closed over him. It was the space of a day,
before he could see the bottom of the mere (Burlin 121). The hero s physical
powers grow far beyond human dimensions. Beowulf is about to attempt to use a
weapon although they were useless against her; then he saw, hanging on the wall, a
heavy sword...but so massive that no ordinary man could life its carved and
decorated length (72). Once he is in Grendel s mother s mere, Beowulf remains
underwater for more than a day (Burlin 120). Finally, Beowulf kills Grendel s
mother, and her blood melts his sword (Bloom 16).
Thus far, Beowulf has killed two man like monsters. Beowulf s last battle with a
dragon is the final substantial fantastic element in this epic poem. W.P. Ker, a
nineteenth century critic, asserts the dragons are

World War II was a very important event in American History. During these times,
America had gone to war against Germany, Italy and Japan. The three nations

France, were up against Hitler and the Axis Powers. There were two attacks that
made a difference during the war, the Battle of the Bulge and the attack on Pearl

point in World War II and would affect the future of American History. In December
16th 1944 to January 16th 1945, The Battle of the Bulge took place in Ardennes,

Describe features of inclusive teaching and learning, explaining why it s important to
create an inclusive teaching and learning environment. (1.1 2.1)
In essence, inclusive teaching means teaching in ways that do not exclude learners,
accidentally or intentionally, from opportunities to learn. By inclusive we mean
valuing the contribution of learners regardless of their backgrounds and value
systems. It is not about providing remedial or special measures for certain groups of
learners.
Florian and Black Hawkins (2010) describe their conceptualization of inclusive
pedagogy:
Our conceptualization of inclusive pedagogy focuses on how to extend what is
ordinarily available in the community of the classroom as a way of reducing the
need to mark some learners as different. This is underpinned by a shift in
pedagogical thinking from an approach that works for most learners existing
alongside something additional or different for those (some) who experience
difficulties, towards one that involves providing rich learning opportunities that are
sufficiently made available for everyone, so that all learners are able to participate in
classroom life.

16. A Research Study On Symbiosis
INTRODUCTION: Symbiosis is the theme of this chapter as well as the theme
throughout the world. Both organisms may benefit from the relationship or one
organism may benefit while the other may suffer. When looking at life in the grand
scheme, symbiosis is everywhere. It occurs within our own bodies as well as in many
other organisms around the world. Evolutionary biologist, Toby Kiers, makes two
valuable points when describing symbiosis. Kiers states that, We need to separate
important from harmonious. The micro biome is incredibly important but it doesn t
mean that it s well balanced. Both partners may benefit, but there s this inherent
tension. Symbiosis is conflict conflict that can never be totally resolved. (Yong,

Wolbachia virtually exists everywhere. Wolbachia symbiotic relationship with
arthropods involves manipulating the host s reproduction life. It acts as a
reproductive parasite that manipulates the sex lives of its host to further its own end.
The host, the arthropod, inevitably suffers, causing the relationship between the
bacterium and host to be a commensalism relationship. Some hosts, like arthropods,
may die, become sterile, or be unaffected in general. The mating pool can become
very limited due to the effects of Wolbachia. One may say that Wolbachia is a bad
bacterium, but it can possess some beneficial sides. In some species the bacterium
may actually benefit the host. For example, the nematode worm, which apparently
cannot survive without W. pipientis. It may also help flies and mosquitoes by
preventing viruses and other pathogens attacking the host. Another example where
the host benefits exist is bed bugs. Wolbachia acts as a nutritional supplement,
creating B vitamins. B vitamins do not exist in the blood, which is consumed by the
bed bugs; therefore, without the source of B vitamins the bugs growth is stunted and
they become infertile (Yong, 2016). Pannebakker et al. (2007) wanted to closely
understand the symbiotic relationship between Asobara tabida, a wasp, and
Wolbachia. To conduct this study, they first understood that A. tabida is naturally
infected by three strains of Wolbachia. The research team decided to infect A. tabida

17. Celebrate The Ever-Evolving America Summary
How would it feel to not have off for christmas? For many Muslims who celebrate
Eid al Fitr, and Eid al Adha, this horror has been a reality for a very long time. In
the article Celebrate the Ever Evolving America , Lane Filler persuades us to see
how important these holidays are for kids who celebrate them, and that our culture
of America embraces other cultures, and there is no reason why we should not
embrace these holidays. An important part of the article is when the author shows
how not having these days off can be bad for some students. The author quotes an
individual who believes that we need these days off. To take a day off... puts a
child so far behind now... a struggle to choose between their studies and taking off
for Eid (lines 26 28). Even though Eid is an important holiday, some kids may
have to miss it for school. The words a struggle to choose truly shows how hard not
having off for this holiday is for kids, as they struggle to choose between school
and religion. This quote not only clearly shows the author s opinion, but it also
allows us to get into the shoes of these kids and parents, and see how they feel.
Because of this, we can see how it would feel to miss an important holiday for

His tone shows this The coming America is going to be more ethnically exotic and

refers to how we are already very different from one another, and we should accept
this change. When the author says It already is. And it ought to be , he shows that
he supports having off for this holiday for kids who need off for it. Not only is the
author s purpose of persuading us to agree with these changes shown, but it also
shows that we should support having off for Eid because of how America was built
on culturally different people, and we should welcome

The cell theory proposes that all organisms are composed of cells and hence cells

however, extremely organized, being responsible for the biochemical processes that
are essential to sustain the life of an organism. Cells are compartmentalised in order
to increase the efficiency of the biochemical processes as well as protect the genetic
information. Such compartments are called organelles which are each bound by their
own membrane and each serve a specialised function. Humans are made up of

23. The Violent Myth Of Appalachia Essay
Brooks 3
THE VIOILENT MYTH OF APPALACHIA
ENGL 330
Appalachian Literature
By
Julie A. Brooks
November 17, 2016
the violent myth of appalachia
Appalachia may be the most misconceived region in the United States. To many
Americans, Appalachia has been thought of as a poverty stricken, backwards,
violent region, and to some it still is perceived as such. Often it has been labeled
with titles such as hillbilly, redneck, moonshiner, and feudists. Appalachia?s
residents are seen as lazy, non trusting, drunk, illiterate, and in need of a savior to
pull them out of the darkness into the light. This research paper will seek to
challenge the myth of a violent Appalachia by describing documented proof that
violence in Appalachia is not, as most thought, a product of its geographical
location, or because its people are isolated. Violence in Appalachia was, just as in
other areas of America, a result of tensions and frustration that was deep seeded in
the fabric of all American society.
To understand the concepts of violence in Appalachia, it is imperative to explain how
Appalachia is defined. The Appalachian Region, as defined in ARC s authorizing
legislation, is a 205,000 square mile region that follows the spine of the Appalachian
Mountains from southern New York to northern Mississippi. It includes all West
Virginia and parts of 12 other states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland,
Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina,
24. Local Area Networks (LANs) Essay
Local area networks (LANs).
DEFINITION
The concept of local area networks (LANs) is not new. It represents a logical
development of computer technology. With the advent of microcomputers in the
1980s many office workers began bringing their own disks into work, compromising
data integrity. They also began keeping their own databases, which companies did not
like. The answer was to create a computer network.
A computer network is a group of computers connected together enabling users to
share resources and communicate with each other. Resources can be hardware,
software, or data. Without a network, each employee might require a dedicated
printer connected to his workstation or individual copies of application software ...

The cost for each wireless node is generally higher than a conventional LAN node.
LAN devices
Today, LANs use sophisticated programs that permit several users to work with
the same resources at the same time. This can include hard disk drives, printers,
plotters, software, etc. LANs are composed of various components performing
specific tasks so each user can access shared resources. Generally, every component
in a network is called a node. Each node is further identified by the specific task it
performs. A user s node is called a terminal or a workstation. This can be a
dumb device, meaning it has no operating system, just a monitor and keyboard, or a
smart node, meaning it can do it s own computing because of an internal central
processor.
A server is a node on the network that provides services to the users of that network.
A server will manage hardware and software resources or monitor the exchange of
information through a network. Each server will respond to the requests of a user
and provide a service, like printing a document or retrieving a stored file. There are
two basic types of servers: Dedicated and Non dedicated. A dedicated server
performs a specific task or function all the time where as a non dedicated server
functions in other capacities. A network with servers that are strictly dedicated is
called a Client Server Network.
A network where services are provided by user s
25. Summary Of On Becoming A Person
Moving to Wisconsin was in many ways a disaster. Rogers vision of psychology
and psychiatry holding hands was never fulfilled and he was quickly at odds with
several of his new colleagues, especially in the Psychology Department. So great
were the conflicts that in the end Rogers resigned from the department, although he
continued to work with the Psychiatric Institute. The powerful desire to be more
influential which took Rogers back to University of Wisconsin was in no way
fulfilled by the work he did there. Yet it was his fifth book, On Becoming a Person,
published in 1961 that, almost overnight, he became more famous and influential
than he had ever hoped for. The book broke free from the professional world of
psychologyand showed that client centered principles could be applied in almost
every facet of day to day living. He went to Wisconsin to make an impact and
failed, but then he wrote a book and discovered that he was suddenly influential
beyond his wildest dreams. In 1963 he resigned from the University of Wisconsin.
The extraordinary success of On Becoming a Person gave him the confidence to set
out on a riskier path. When Richard Farson, one of his former students, invited him in
the summer of 1963 to join him and others at the recently created Western Behavioral
Sciences InstituteRogers initially hesitated. Rogers later accepted the offer and set
out for La Jolla in California to join WBSI, a non profit making organization

26. Monetary Policy And Its Effect On Economic Growth
Economics for Business 2
Topic: Recent Monetary Policy in Australia
Monetary policy is important to the economic growth, and it involves setting the
interest rate on overnight loans in the money market (RBA 2015). This interest rate
is also called the cash rate, and it influences other interest rates in economy which
include the behaviour of borrowers and lenders, economic activity and ultimately the
rate of inflation (RBA 2015).
Why do you think that monetary policy is less effective in boosting economic
growth than it is in restricting economic growth? How do lower interest rates boost
aggregate demand in the economy? According to the most recent monetary policy,
which is released on 04 August 2015 by Glenn Stevens, l will investigate all the
possible effects in economy those are influenced by the change of monetary policy.
After their recent meeting, the Board made a wise decision and maintained the
interest rate at 2.0 per cent. And refer to the earlier announcements this year; we all
know that the rates have been changed twice in 2015, because RBA decided to
support the economy, and wanted to reduce the rise in unemployment. But there are
possible growing risks from lower rates. Lower interest rates effect the economy
growth in varies ways, it makes cheaper and easier to borrow, which tends to
encourage investment, spending and consumption. Thus it directly boosts aggregate
demand and economic growth. But at the same time, it also causes inflationary
pressures.

According to Beth L. Habeishi and Staphanie Mallory in Basic Illustrated Archery,
they suggest that the bow was believed to be made as early as 50,000 BC (pg 7).

According to Evelyn Tribble in Where are the archers in Shakespeare, archery is a
complex skill that has the properties of physiological, neurological, social,
technological, economic, and material forces all of which must be considered in an
ecological model of skill (para 1). Tribble also suggests that anthropologists use the
phrase cultural transmission to analyze how cultures engage in making knowledge
(para 1). It pretty much means how their skills and knowledge had been passed
down through each cultures generation lines. The physical well being of the archer
made the historiography of the longbow in war amazing. An expertly made bow
meshed with the trained physical and mental intelligence of the bowman has a
devastating effects and are very lethal. It was considered a very effective weapon of
its time until firearms were invented, but now it is just as effective as a hunting and
or target shooting weapon, in other words recreational use. Even now, the
effectiveness of the longbow is determined primarily by the strength and skill of the
bowman. To win in competitions and to harvest an animal, hunters and target
shooters must have great strength and accuracy when using a

29. Sulfide Mining Pros And Cons
Imagine drifting slowly on a canoe while fishing one of Minnesota s crystal clear
waters on a beautiful, sunny day. Now imagine being interrupted by the loud,
ongoing sounds of drilling and being told the fish were too dangerous to eat. This is
only one of many potential harms of sulfide mining. PolyMet, a new miningcompany
would like to bring sulfide mining, also known as coppernickel mining to Minnesota.
This would involve the extraction of copper and various other metals from sulfide,
hence the name. The sulfide that comes out of this type of mining can have serious
consequences on the environment. Events that occurred in the past and facts
mentioned in the books titled Taconite Dreams by Jeffrey Manuel and Fractured

For instance, transporting the materials from the mines from place to place can
lead to the roads being congested, putting a strain on the roads. Evidence of this is
shown in Fractured Land when Lisa is observing a high way. She writes of various
trucks involved in the fracking industry creating traffic and putting wear and tear
on the roads of U.S. Highway two (55). Many of these mines are in more rural
areas where roads were not made with the intention of there being as much
pressure on the roads as the activity with the mines creates. This means the
increased activity on the roads results in them breaking down. The same goes for
these trucks as it does for the movement of vehicles shipping in materials from
different nations for the fracturing to take place. More congested roads also means
greater odds for accidents. This is evident when Westburg, the Fractured Land
author writes of an accident that occurred along U.S. Highway 2. Multiple trucks
collided until one of them crashed into a tanker trailer with crude oil. This vehicle
exploded and burned for many hours, resulting in the closing down of the entire
highway (Westburg 141). Because the majority of these mines are built in areas
where the roads are not made to suit traffic, the roads are too narrow. This
ultimately leads to a rise in tragic accidents. Also, along with more goods being
mined comes more products to be shipped over seas. This would inevitably lead to
more pollution. For instance, In 2013, transportation contributed more than half of the
carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons
emitted into our air (Union). This is tainting both the environment and human health,
as the only atmosphere the world relies on is being tainted by globalization. The
trucks and planes involved in shipping the metals from place to place would mean
more fossil fuel

In order to accumulate emergency funds, several tips I need to take into account and
apply them in my daily life. First, I need to set up an automatic deduction from my
paycheck that goes directly to saving account. By doing so, it will allow me to forget
and ignore the deduction amount and only focus of the remaining of my paycheck.
Second, eliminate any impulse buying that could affect my paycheck (Allebrand, C).
Third, maintain a spending book that would help in keep recording of my spending to
eliminate any overspending. Fourth renegotiation almost everything, from internet
bill, phone bill, asking for discount on stores to even asking for less interest rate on
credit card and reduction on insurance rates (Peterson, L).
However, most employers provide health insurance, which is part of the premium,
is paid by employees. So, having health insurance is mandatory to avoid any risk of
high cost of medical expenses. Medical cost is expensive and it can hurt me
financially if health problems arise. Also renter insurance is important as well
since for at least 7 10 year I ll be living in rental apartment. Renter insurance will
allow me to insure all my personal belongings in case of fire or burglary. Auto
insurance is mandatory since almost everywhere is required to get auto insurance,
which it is a wise choice in case of accidents. When it comes to life insurance I think
it s too early to get one especially after graduation but it s a future plan

Homer s Heroes
The epic poem called The Iliad written by Homer concerns the Trojan War. It shows
Trojan and Achaean warriors courage, bravery and their attempt to become the best
fighter to get fame, glory, and honor. The heroes in The Iliad follow Homer s heroic
code, striving for excellence. Hector and Achilles strength comes from their desire
for fame, glory, honor and their acceptance of fate. These qualities are considered to
be characteristics of Homer s heroic code. However, the actions of Paris are not
heroic causing trouble and conflict for many people. In fact, Paris non heroic action

around Troy town, I lose all hope of home but gain unfading glory; on the other, if I

The proper burial which Achilles does for all his victims in the war is a heroic
action. Since burial is a very important thing for both Achaeans and Trojans, the
families of the dead ones were able to appreciate Achilles respect for the dead
people. Andromache says of Achilles attack on her father:
He killed him, but, reverent at least in this, did not spoil him. Body, gear, and
weapon forged so handsomely, he burned, and heaped a barrow over the ashes. Elms
were planted round by mountain nymphs of him who bears the storm cloud. (J 127 33)
Achilles requests to his mother, Thetis, to ask Zeus and make the Trojans stronger
until Agamemnon and his army realize that they need Achilles back in order to
win the war. So, Thetis asks Zeus, Lend the Trojans power,/ until the Achaeans
recompense my son/ and heap new honour upon him! (C 20 23) The strategy that
Achilles plans works out and eventually he is back in the army. However since he
chooses fame and glory over a long and relaxing life, the time for Achilles death
comes. Being the hero that he is, Achilles accepts his fate when Hector foreshadows
it and mentions his death is close by.

In practice, the success of the Chilean enterprise depended on organizing the territory
by functions (mostly political, trading and productive), educating aborigines for
ensuring cheap and peaceful workforce (e.g., via evangelization), and maximizing
the capacity of exploiting land resources. Whilst the productive activities took place
in the countryside, the city of Santiago concentrated all the political and trading
functions. If a ton of gold was extracted from the rivers in the south, afterward, it
was commercialized from Santiago to Lima. Moreover, it was the same with
livestock and agricultural products. Hence, the goods were produced in the rural but
its commodification happened in Santiago. Also, decision making processes on
policies occurred in Santiago. Although, the consolidation of Santiago faced some
difficulties. The concentration of political power and an emerging process of capital

38. The Grand Canyon, A Landscape Made From Mixed Media
The Grand Canyon, one of the United States most popular tourist attractions. The
canyon has drawn various people to it, including artists who depict its beauty in
multiple forms. Throughout this report, I will be discussing and critiquing Rose
Eagers Grand Canyon, a landscape made from mixed media. While reviewing this
piece of art at the Carnegie Art Center located in Turlock, CA; I learned a lot about
the content.
Rose Eager, in her later years was a victim of macular degeneration, a horrific disease
of the eye that slowly changes the way we see. Macular Degeneration recently
diminished my ability to see color and depth, so I started a new series of work using
achromatic neutrals, black, white, and grey over invented textural relief ... Show more

Eager has multiple aspects of her image that strongly support a formalist viewpoint.
Her artwork has definite structural aspects that have a greater meaning then you
originally think. To break down the image in even more depth, when you first
glance at the image, the first area that your eye is drawn to is the tree, more
specifically the tree branches. These branches are extremely textured, giving them
almost a true bark like appearance. The leaves on the upper left corner of the piece
look like they are almost protruding off of the rest of the image.
The form of this image also adds to its components of formal analysis. Form is based
on color, composition, texture and line. This image by Eager has all of these major
elements. The composition is constructed with purpose, to show the flow and depth
growing throughout the image. There are multiple lines in this art piece, the first
can be seen through the top of the work, it goes through the tops of the trees and
atop the mountain peaks. Then, there are implied lines, one can be seen between
the mountain peaks coming towards the tree, or vice versa. The color scheme again
follows her depiction of living with Macular Degeneration, she lost the ability to see
colors, and in her image, she only used shades of greys and black. In order to combat
the depth, she was losing
39. Conical Hat Definition
The thoughts about ceramic shape s history gave me a ground to be able to create
the Conical Hat series works, and the investigation of conical hat provides the
depth of my work. However, it still has lots of space for my personal concepts and
understandings in this series of work. According to those studies on object and
shapes, my central idea can be concluded into just one word which is container . I
view the Conical Hat series are containers. Then, what is the container? Container is a
Middle English word. It comes from contain with er. It is a noun which means
anything that contains or can contain according to The Macquarie Dictionary. In The
Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, container appears as a word under the explanation
of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beyond to describe different kinds of containers, the act to be a container can
mean something else and worth to think about it. Being a container can be seen as
taking the role of protection, storage or transportation. Different container can
have different roles. It gives container a character that can be classified. Besides,
from the other side of this idea, after a container been found, the act afterwards also
be assigned. It is like when you found a jar, what you put in it will give the jar its
value. Or like, you give different values to the same jar than other people did to it.
According to the analysis of container, there are two levels of how my Conical Hat
series links to the concept of the container. First, conical hat is a kind of container.
Second, conical hat is a container of emotion. Conical hat is the container is the
direct connection. From geometric sense, conical hat is a hollow cone shape, which
enables it could contain something in it. The object, which has ability to hold things,
can be called container, which is not related to it should or should not. It is a very

41. The Role Of Refugees According To The 1951 Refugee
Convention
According to the 1951 Refugee Convention, states have the obligation to accept and
protect refugees (REFERENCE). This indicated that so long individuals fit the
definition of refugee status, states are compelled to accept and protect them.
Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case on a global level. According to
international law, more specifically the 1951 RefugeeConvention, refugees are to be
taken in and are to be provided housing, education, and other services in their host
country (REFERENCE). Beyond the acceptance of refugees, states should also be
invested in the integration of refugees into the host society. In recent history, the
humanitarian disasters that have happened in across the Middle East, Africa, and
parts of Asia have caused the total upheaval of many lives from living under the
protection of the roofs of their homes to leaving many displaced.
A refugee is defined as someone who is unable or unwilling to return to their
country origin, owing to a well founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race,
religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion
(1951 Refugee Convention, 3). The Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948
recognizes the right of persons to seek asylum from persecution in other countries.
The United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees adopted in 1951 is
the centerpiece of international refugee protection today (1951 Refugee Convention,
2). The amount of states willing to

Chile
The country of Chile is located in western South America. The conditions vary with
the mountains, deserts, and beaches.
Climate
The climate is one condition that may vary within different regions. The country
extends a long distance from north to south. There is a lack of rainfall to the north.
there the air is able to hold much of the moisture.
Middle Chile has hot, dry summers and cool, moist winters. The temperatures aren t
often extreme. The warmest month, January, averages 63.7 degreesFerenheit. The
coolest months, June and July, Average 53.3 F.
More to the south the rain increases, and the length of the summerdry season
shortens. Rainfall totals more than 200 inches per year in some places.

The giant condor, Chile s national bird, is sometimes seen in the Andes, while the
vulture of Tierra del Fuego preys upon the sheep of the far southern region of Chile.
There aren t many freshwater fishes native to Chile, but lake trout, introduced from
North America, can reach up to 30 inches or more. There are many saltwater fishes
off the coast though.
People
The major language of Chile is Spanish. The major religion is Roman Catholiccism.
The population (1992 estimate) is 13,582,945 people. The population density is 463
people per square mile.
Only 5 percent of Chile s people are pure Indians. Pure Spanish decent totals close to
25%. 66 percent are mestizo, a mixture of Spanish and Indian.
By 1980 about 80% of Chile s population lived in cities. Chile contains many rapidly
growing cities. Some of those cities are Santiago, Valparaiso, Antofagasta, Valdivia,

I am writing a paragraph on Pittsburgh and it has three main topics. The topics are
sports, landmarks, and famous people. Some key facts that support Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh is on the Ohio river. It is the second biggest city in Pennsylvania. It is

world(Pittsburgh, 500a).
Pittsburgh was home to all kinds of famous people such as actors, athletes and

have won 3 Stanley Cups. The Steelers have won 6 superbowls. The Pirates have

Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992, and a 6 foot 3, 209 pound redhead from Bow

the Pirates with their record in the east. The Pirates lost 105 games in 1985 and

45. Reflection Paper On Observation
On September 26th, I observed class due to an injury. During my observations, I
found myself reflecting on what was happening in class at the moment and on my
previous work in the class. I strongly feel that observing is beneficial to the study
of dance because it forces students to study not only the professor but also their
classmates and ways they can connect what they see to what they need to do
themselves. During my observations, I noted many moments of instruction and
critique that I can apply to my own movement, but also took time to notice the
habits of my classmates that I feel contribute to an enriching learning environment.
Before I was injured, I felt that I was doing well in the class. Tap is something I
haven t studied since I was small, so it has been nice to revisit the art form.
Looking back on the first few weeks, I found that I could easily understand the
theory and rhythm of a movement, but I often had a difficult time putting that
knowledge into my body; I could explain to you what needed to happen, but it didn
t always translate to my feet. This could be frustrating as I knew what needed to
happen but didn t know why I wasn t able to do it physically. I decided that my
time observing would be well spent trying see what other students and the professor
were doing that I might not be so that I may apply that knowledge to my own
movement once I was back on my feet. One of the biggest ideas I observed was the
importance of effort and intention. In the
47. The Importance Of Gun Safety Issues
The first article is about how, in 2016, Virginia s Democratic governor and Virginian
Republicans compromised on gun safety. This issue impacts Virginia as it allows
citizens from states with less strict concealed gun carry laws to carry their guns in
Virginia, which potentially could cause safety issues. Nonetheless, it also allows
state police to conduct background checks in gun shows and restricts people who
have committed domestic abuse from buying weapons, which, in total, makes the
state safer. The parties involved in this compromise are Virginia Governor Terry
McAuliffe and Speaker William J. Howell, however, in the article, House Leader
David Toscano and the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence also comment on the
compromise. An important
48. Caregiverity Of Enrollment
My research question is, does length of enrollment and severity of dementia for
participants in an adult day care impact caregiver health? This area of study is
particularly interesting to me and I would like to perform further research to
determine whether length of enrollment plays a role in increasing caregiver
wellness. If a caregiver can identify that their loved one is suffering from dementia
at an early stage, does enrollment in an adult day care help to reduce caregiver
burnout. If a caregiver waits to enroll their loved one in an adult day care until the
mid stages of dementia, has the caregiver already experienced increased difficulty
with providing care on their own? Will longer enrollment of adult day care used by
caregivers of
49. Media And Media
The mass media is an important factor when it comes to getting a message across to
the public. No specific community can do without media as it is a crucial element to
society. The media helps provide individuals things that they need the most, that
being information. Sometimes this information is considered injurious and appalling,
whereas other times it normal. The messages that are taken from the media are based
off of one s own faith and knowledge, in accordance to the reinforcement theory
(Jetter, 2017). The reinforcement theory argues that you can change someone s
perspective or behavior by using reinforcement, punishment and extinction.
Punishments are used to avoid the behavior you do, rewards are used to support the
behavior you want and lastly extinction represents stopping an individual from acting
upon a learned behavior.
Although terrorism cannot be defined in one specific definition, it can be depicted as
the use of violence against innocent individuals to bring political change through the
means of fear . Majority of the time, terrorist attacks are often not directly intended
for an exact individual, rather, are done to convey a memorandum (Altheide, 2007).
This can potentially signify that the media paying a large amount of attention to
terrorist organizations, may further encourage them to continue their violence. The
correlation between terrorist and the media is symbiotic as terrorist organizations
terrorize in order to seek publicity for the sole

52. Armada Portrait Analysis
Elizabeth I, queen of England, was very strategic in the way she presented herself to
the public. In my short story, The Queen s Decision, Elizabeth s public and private
selves are evident and occasionally contrast with each other, especially during the
decision to execute Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. Publicly, the Tudor queen had a
strong aversion to beheading MaryStuart, but her personal insights depict hostility to
the fellow queen.
Elizabeth sitting on a throne made of silk from Asia, in reference to England s
colonial power. The Armada portrait was a public display to spread a positive
image of the queen as propaganda and to showcase the Tudor queen s strength.
Similar to Elizabeth s Armada portrait in which she places her hand on the globe
(particularly North America), Elizabeth is placed directly on colonized land (Asian
silk), portraying England s power over other nations. In this instance, Elizabeth s
publicly demonstrates her power and her physical embodiment of England in a subtle,
meaningful way.
Furthermore, Elizabeth is dressed in a gold and white gown with pearls lining the
bodice, inspired by the Armada portrait again. Dubbed as the virgin queen, white and
pearls are both indicative of virginity and chastity, with gold being symbolic of
wealth. Also, pearls are linked with the moon, an entity that is difficult to reach and
having immense influence over others, similar to Elizabeth herself. Having pearls
line the bodice, where the heart and stomach designate the inward seat of passion,
emotion, secret thoughts, affections, or feelings, (OED) illustrates Elizabeth s ability
to restrain her biological urges. Elizabeth s natural body intersects with the body
politic, in that her natural body is utilized to present a political ideal of her being in
control.
William Cecil mentions Mary s plots against Elizabeth, notably the three major plots
she is suspected of committing during her imprisonment in England. The Ridofli Plot,
The Throgmorton Plot and the Babington Plot are the three times Mary attempted to
kill Elizabeth, with her involvement in the Babington Plot leading to her execution.
In Elizabeth s letter to William Cecil, April 11, 1572, she doesn t want to rush any
irrevocable
