Grasslands are warm and dry biomes found in North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. They receive little rainfall, between 25-75mm annually, which is not enough for trees to grow. Common plants include various grasses, milkweeds, asters, and wildflowers. Many large herbivores inhabit grasslands, such as bison, zebras, and gazelles, which are preyed on by predators like lions, cheetahs, and wolves. Grasslands support complex food webs and are threatened by human development.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

2. Weather / Climate
• In the grasslands it is usually
warm and dry.
• There is not much rainfall, just
25mm to 75mm yearly.
3. Weather / Climate
• Grasslands are colder than a
desert but, are pretty warm and
has not enough rainfall for trees
to grow either.
• There are usually Hot summers
and cold winters.
6. Plants
• There is mainly grass in a grassland. There are
a few trees.
• Palm trees
• Tall grass prairies and small grass prairies.
• Milkweeds, golden rods, asters, The Blazing
Star, sweet cone flower and purple cone
flower.
7. Milkweeds
• Scientific name: Asclepias syrica
• Where’s its name from: The genus name
Asclepias, comes from Asklepios, the Greek
god of healing.
8. Asters
• Scientific name: Aster alpinus
• Where the name came from: The name Aster
comes from the Ancient Greek word aster,
which means star, because of its shape.
9. Animals
Red tailed hawk, Zebra, Prairie Dog, African
Elephant, Bison, Black Rhino, Black-footed
ferret, Brown Hyena, Giraffe, Greater Prairie
Chicken, Lion, Ostrich, Pronghorn, Warthog, Bad
ger, Cheetah, Baboon. These are only some of
the animals in a grassland.
10. Ferret
• They have an average length of 51cm including a
13cm tail, and the weight of about 0.7 to 2 kg, and
have a natural lifespan of 7 to 10 years.
• They have brown, black, white, or brown and black
fur.
• Scientific name: Mustela Putorius Furo.
11. Bison
• Bison have a shaggy, dark brown winter coat, and
a lighter weight, lighter brown summer coat.
• Bison can reach up to 6 and 1/2 ft tall and are 3
to 10 ft long and weigh 450 to 900 kilograms.
• Their heads and fore legs are massive, and both
genders have short, curved horns, which they use
in fighting for status within the herd and for
defence.
14. Interesting Facts
• Grasslands are named the transitional biome. This means
that grasslands are usually found between the desert and
the forest, but It would become a forest if grasslands had
more rain and If it had any less rain, it would be a desert.
• There are 3 types of grasslands. Tall grasslands have very
tall grass, up to 5 feet tall, and they get almost 30 inches
of rain a year. Mixed grasslands have grasses that grow to
2 to 3 feet tall. This kind of grassland gets about 15 to 25
inches of rain a year. The third kind of grassland is the
short grasslands. This type of grassland is almost a
desert. It has very short grass and only receives 10 inches
of rain each year.
15. Interesting Facts
• True prairies and grasslands are becoming harder
and harder to find. People are capturing the wild
lands, and the grasslands are becoming as extinct
as the animals that are missing from them today.
• In Africa, national parks are being set up to look
after the grasslands. This will help the animals
such as lions and elephants to live on for more
generations.
• The United States are starting to look after the
wild grasslands, too. They have even replanted
grass where it has been cleared for farming.
