This document discusses two common verb patterns in English: 1) Verbs that can be followed by an -ing form verb or an infinitive verb without "to", such as enjoy, finish, and prefer. 2) Verbs that require a preposition plus an -ing form verb or a verb plus someone/something plus an infinitive verb with "to", such as talk about, focus on, ask, and tell. Examples are provided for each pattern to illustrate their use. The differences between the patterns are also explained.
