Music has had varying importance in my life. When I was young my brothers
listened to Alternative Rock, so naturally I also listened to Alternative Rock.
However, today I find my musical taste to much wider anything from Indie Rock to

the musicitself, but I still enjoy simply listening to music more than the majority of

I would often listen to their CDs which usually consisted of Switchfoot, Relient K,
or David Crowder Band. My first MP3 player was a game changer. I could now
listen to their whole collection without having to borrow any of their things. This
is when I really fell in love with music. My parents on the other hand are about the
opposite. They tend to stick to Christian Pop and Country that is played on the
radio. In Middle School, I begin to explore other genres like Indie Folk, Electronic

went on long trips. As I went into High School my scopes where broadened even

and Rock which grew me closer to my dad who grew up with these genres: artists

Reeves interprets the changing of religion for political reasons, and it all started
with Hatshepsut. Thutmose III was the sixth pharaoh of the 18th dynasty and was
ruling co regent with his aunt Hatshepsut. Akhenaten wanted to restore power in
himself, not because he cared about his people only because he thought the gods
had more power than him. To fix that problem, he wanted only one god, the Aten,
to rule universally. Reeves doesn t assume that Akhenaten was changing beliefs for
theological reasons, but it was for the sake of his power. From the start of his reign,
it was clear that Akhenaten was determined to change something, and was willing to
share his beliefs in monotheism. Pharaoh, it is clear, was a man with a mission; of
rare intelligence, recognizably well tutored in the theological minutiae...despite his
age, he was certain in his beliefs and determined to share them (91). There was a
text discovered called the Great Hym of Aten and it is a hieroglyphic text discovered
in el Amrna in the tomb of Ay. It was believed to have been written by Akhenaten
himself translated by W.J. Murnane. Reeves points out that the hym was rather a
strong emphasis on how one should portray the nature of reality, and rather weak
connection between Aten and the kingdom. He also notes that the hym as well as
many other texts, never emphasize sympathy or kindness to the Egyptian people, and
it only praises Aten and the relationship with Akhenaten. Whom you have taught your
