3. Summary Of Sarah Winnemucca Goes To Washington By Paiute
Culture informs every fiber of politics; the recent backlash against identity politics is a fundamental
misunderstanding of how political opinions form. For the Native Americans throughout the
country, culture, creation stories, and ancestors are crucial to forming their political stances. The
land they inhabit that has historically always belonged to them is central to their creation stories
and ways of life, informing their agricultural and trade abilities. Though the Winnemucca family
was initially friendly towards white settlers on their land, settlers soon became greedy and pushed
the Paiutes towards Malheur reservation, and then to Yakima (Carpenter). The article Sarah
Winnemucca Goes to Washington by Cari M. Carpenter recounts how the American government
cheated the Paiutes out of land by separating their culturefrom their politics, which was stopped by
Sarah Winnemucca s congressional hearing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4. Taking a Look at the City of Atlanta
Revenue Trends
With the continued sluggish economy, Atlanta s total revenue projections continue to decline from
the budget dating back to 2010 when the current mayor Kasim Reed took office. The City s
property tax base is the primary component accounting for 40% of the City s general fund revenues.
Property tax revenues have continued to experience declines associated with decreased
residential tax bases, negative reassessments, successful tax appeals and continued weakness in
the housing market. The City has demonstrated a measured response by continuing to budget
property tax revenue collection conservatively. To meet the projections, the collection rate in the
proposed budget was set to rise to 98%, up from the previous year s collection rate of 96%
(Pendered 2013). Public utility, alcoholic beverages and other taxes are the second largest
revenue source, at 23% resulting from franchise agreements of the use of the City s right of way
in providing public utilities such as telecommunications, gas and electric and from taxes imposed
on businesses operating in the City of Atlanta. Sales tax revenue is the third largest share of
general fund revenues accounting for nearly 20% of revenue anticipations. Sales tax revenue is
extremely flexible due to changes in economic performance associated with disposable income and
unemployment levels. Despite still declining revenues, the budget avoids service cuts and property
tax hikes, while adding about a million dollars to the

Other projects where I can manifest my knowledge in as far as adding value is concerned are
projects related to boosting consumer loyalty and building a good market share. Therefore, it is
imperative that I don t look at the case study as something that comes and go, but as something that
provides me with knowledge necessary to handle future projects that I might encounter in the
course of my studies. What I have learnt since the first case study and how I would have improved
the learning experience?
From the first case study, I have learnt various elements of the external and internal business
surrounding. In terms of external environment, what stands out is the significance of external
environment scanning in the day to day entity operation. What stands out in as far as the internal
environment is concerned is the role that adding value plays in the modern business. What I would
have done differently during the process is an analysis of more organizations and industries.
Conclusion drawn from a wider scope of information sources is more reliable. Therefore, an
improvement to the earning experience would significantly involve increasing the number of
organizations and industries covered. Other learning would involve direct interaction with experts
in the field of external environment scanning and adding value. This will avail a more practical
overview of the two.

7. Rhetorical Analysis on Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
In Malcolm Gladwell s book Outliers, he defines an outlier as someone who does something out

Outliers. We should listen to Gladwell because some of his information is knowledgeable and
can help with everyday life. His purpose is to teach us about the many rules that are being
described in the book. The main intended audience would have to be the world and how he
displays his values to millions of people. Malcolm Gladwelldiscusses how someone s IQ that is in

Right away the readers get interested in learning what the then thousand hour rule is about.
Gladwell reviews the lives of extremely successful people and how they have had success. There
are many ways in which logos are used in Outliers. Gladwell viewed children in Berlin playing the
violin and saw that kids having ten thousand hours of practice, were proven to be better at
playing the violin, than kids with less than ten thousand hours of practice. He also took a look at
Bill gates, which dropped out of college and started a very successful company, called Microsoft.
Bill Gates had thousands of hours of practice in programming and other abilities learned through
his short years at college. There are no shortcuts at becoming great; everything can only be
achieved with lots of practice and hard work. The tone that Gladwell uses in Outliers is long
sentences to get his points across to the readers. He uses key points. There were some metaphors
used in the book when he talks about the tallest oak trees in the forest and they helped describe
the situation and what was being talked about. Many people are cognitive of outliers once they
have read the book thoroughly. Some imagery was also showed when Gladwell talked about the
winning team and how all of the players and reporters crammed into the locker room. Some people

thoughts on each: 1.What do you think critical inquiry is? What is your working definition of
critical inquiry? What might be the relationship between critical inquiry and education? I think
critical inquiry is looking deeper into a specific issue, so that you can form an opinion based on
facts and evidence portraying to the issue. Critical inquiry is the process of gathering information,
evidence, and ideas to form a thoughtful, well constructed understanding of a specific issue.
Critical inquiry has a direct link to education. This type of approach can be specifically seen in
classrooms and schools that use an inquiry based approach. Although I believe, all teachers should
give students the opportunity to use critical inquiry within the classroom. This approach can be
used when working through problems and research. Instead of giving students the right answer
you can allow them to explore the issue or topic on their own. I think critical inquiry is a beneficial
skill that students can obtain in the classroom, one which allows them to make reasoned judgments
though out their life. 2.Do you think such a relationship is a happy or an unhappy one? Is it a love

9. Robert Gray Poem- Old House and Late Ferry
Poetic Language is used to Capture Human Experiences;
`In Robert Gray’s poems, he uses language to capture human experiences.
In two of his poems; old house and late ferry, gray has effectively captured human experiences by
his varies poetic languages and through insight and feeling. Throughout both texts late ferry and old
house, gray’s main message in the poems, with his critical analysis, is the
destruction of nature by mankind.
In old house, gray has captured the human experience of the process of death. He does this through
insight and he effectively conveys this with poetic language such as the use of metaphor. This is the
title itself ‘ old house’.The title

He uses this imagery in this poem to emphasis this dark place in which he now lives. Deep sea
can be a cold and scary place. This would capture a human experience because deep in the sea
would be a dark and lonely which is something a human can feel and relate to.
Gray expresses, in late ferry, a human experience captured by the language technique of
symbolism, this is of colour. In this text, gray uses the colour of yellow to express light, and sun,
and to emphasis the preciousness of the colour yellow, which also symbolises gold. In this text,
gray conveys yellow as the happy colour of the light, which is more natural and sweet to him,
especially compared the fake lights and colours of the city.
Poetry is definitely language used to capture a part of human experiences. This is evident in both
late ferry and old house, which were written by the poet Robert gray. He informs his audience of
the destruction of nature, and this is happens by mere humans. This is evident by the artificialness
of the city in late ferry, and of an old house actually being an institute in old house. He does this
successfully through various uses of poetic language

There is a fine line between reality and illusion
How can we distinguish between reality and illusion? Is reality an illusion, or is an illusion
simply reality? Albert Einstein once stated that reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very
persistent one . The statement suggests that what we interpret to be real may well be an illusion
and this is evidenced mainly through dreams and aspirations. For example if someone has
dreamt of one day being a doctor their reality, which is described as the state of things that
actually exist, shifts or changes in order for that idea to become real. Reality is tangible while
illusion is a faculty or activity of imagination. What may be reality for one person may be an

The Utopian Vision of Mother Teresa
In August 1948, at the age of 38, Mother Teresa decided to adventure into the poorest

education, and shelter for the poor. Feeding people the Word of God; clothing them with dignity;
educating them with knowledge, peace, truth, justice and love; nursing the mind and spirit; and
sheltering them with a heart that understands. ( servants ) I believe that a utopian vision is any vision
that follows natural law, creates happiness in the community, and is feasible. Mother Teresas visions

everyone equally. When Mother Teresa looked into the eyes of those she literally pulled out of the
gutter, she saw Jesus Christ. She said, They are Jesus. Everyone is Jesus in a distressing disguise. (
servant )
Mother Teresa teaches that the best way to live a simple life is by giving up all you have and
joining those that suffer physically and financially. She says, When all you got is all you ve
got, all that s left is to be yourself and you can only receive. And that, in a sense, is why the poor
are blessed, because they know what really matters . (M.T. Simple) If a simple life helps one to
know yourself better than it can also help you discover the natural law. (M.T. Simple) Poverty
seems to me to degrade a sense of self, causing the poor person to feel worthless and incapable.
Poverty can be beautiful in that you are not hiding behind someone and all you can do is
receive, but I think it is important not to mystify poverty like it is so glorious when really it is
not. Mother Teresa says, Poverty is a wonderful gift because it gives us freedom it means we have
fewer obstacles to God. (M.T. Simple) I think education gives us

In 1912, a forward thinking U.S. Army military leader, Captain Alexander E. Williams persuaded
Quartermaster General James B. Aleshire, to approve an elaborate off road military convoy

Captain Williams visited several factories; Ford, Mack, Aldcn Sampson, Garford, White and the

companies only Mack, White and FWD fielded trucks that withstood the rigors of the exercise(s).
A subsequent test involved supplying a provisional regiment throughout a one hundred and fifteen

in the convoy broke down and needed repair at some point along the route, the exercise
successfully demonstrated that trucks had a future use and purpose in the U.S. Army. In spite of

Conflict could resolve in losing employees due to how they are being treated within their work
environment. Management would be without employees and there would be loss of productivity.
Some of the strengths would be that the workers were experienced and know how to do their job
/tasks correctly. This is a strength because you have trustworthy professionals who know what
they are doing with that certain task. A weakness would be how the employees were silenced and
overworked (Kirst Ashman, 2014). This is a weakness because I know how being silenced can be.
At my old job, we didn t have much of a say and work became irritating to the point that I left. Not
being heard on ideas does have consequences. And in the scientific management theory there is no
communication with management.
Cultural Theory This cultural perspective is a theory that is being used all the time and will not

(Thompson, Ellis, and Wildavsky, 1991). The cultural perspective on organizations believes that
each of the organizations establish a distinctive mixture of values, standards, presumptions, and

20. China s Aging Population And The Hukou System
The selection of blog entries is an important process involving the need to thoroughly take into
account the subject topic and accordingly carry out the review of the topic. The blogs are means
to represent the idea in brief in order to make it clear for understanding by the reader. The blog
should not be formed of complex set of words, which are tough to understand by the reader.
Instead, the precise description in an easy language should be carried out in order to benefit the
reader by adding to their knowledge. Thus, two blogs have been written here titled as China s aging
population, and The Hukou system . Each of these has been described in the context of the topic so
as to make them clear and precise enough to the reader.
The blog titled China s aging population describes how the increase in population is a growing
concern for the country. The reason for selection of this topic is to explore how the increase in
aged population of China is causing an impact on the country s economic system. The increase
in population is a serious issue of concern, which is well controlled by the government through
introducing one child policy (Peilin, 2015). This parameter has however resulted into several
side effects such as increase in aged people in the country. As a result of this, the expenses
associated with elderly people is also increasing, which is an interesting area focused in the blog. It
was rather a good choice of topic as it helped in exploring how the increase

22. Theseus A Midsummer Night s Dream
Despite the numerous physical contrasts between the forest and Athens in William Shakespeare s A
Midsummer Night s Dream, the two settings symbolically are very similar. Coupling the two
locations allows the play to question the idea of actuality versus dreams. Throughout the play,
Shakespeare juxtaposes Theseus Court with nature to parallel reality and fantasy, and resolve the
obvious differences between the two in order to illustrate that elements of reality are present in
fantasy.
The two settings, at first glance, are strikingly divergent. Athens represents reason and wisdom,
which is representative of reality. It is named after the Greek God Athena, the goddess of wisdom.
By setting Theseus court in Athens, Shakespeare implies the ... Show more content on

Despite these clashing characteristics, there are countless similarities between the events that take
place in each local. One connection between the two can be seen through Hippolyta and Titania.
Although it is evident that Hippolyta is a victim of misogyny, Titania s experience with
patriarchy is less evident. Both Oberon and Theseus earn love from their partners by conquering
them in oe sense or another. Theseus, ...wooed [Hippolyta] with [his] sword, and won [her] love
by doing [her] injuries, whereas Oberon manipulates Titania with a spell (Shakespeare 1.1 17
18). In the end, both men obtain what they desire, whether it be a child or marriage, and the
women must abide their decision. These two characters are often double cast to represent this
relationship. By making this choice, the director and cast heighten a pre existing (if subtle)
parallel between the two characters and their positions and thus representing the appearance of
reality, even in dreams (Colborn 77). The same is true of the opposite because, Hippolyta, by
nature, is representative of the exotic and unknown (Colborn 79). She is not a true Athenian and
therefore has qualities that defy those set for her in reality. This is similar to how even though
the reality of misogyny in the forest is very apparent, she is still able to possess tremendous
power as the Fairy Queen. Hippolyta s Amazonian culture, ...differ from the Renaissance ideals of
womanhood in their complete uninterest in an erotic appeal governed by male desire (Pastor
Sousa 12). This helps define her as an aspect of the unpredictableness of dreams. These two
characters are one way that Shakespeare demonstrates the direct relation between fantasy and
reality, and how aspects of both are apparent in each

The years 1918 1939, which separate World War I from World War II, witnessed profound changes
in how technologically advanced military organizations would fight. In most of the cases, during
peacetime, military innovation, and technological developments played an empowering or helping
role in advancing profoundly new and more operative ways of fighting. In a narrow and strict
sense, such innovative improvements were revolutionary. The technological revolution reached the
battlefields and forever changed the way that armies required from the fragile airplanes and
unreliable tanks of World War Ito evolve into more sophisticated weapons by the late 1930s.

25. Ban On Tobacco Advertising And The Conflict Of Interest...
Ban on Tobacco Advertisement in India
The discussion of advertising tobacco products is a controversial topic, there are relevant points on
both sides of the argument, so it is hard to determine a true ethical decision. India s government
announced the bill banning tobacco companies from advertising their products in February 2001,
their goal is to prevent adolescents from taking up smoking or any other form of tobacco products.
Initiating this bill is the government answer to an ethical challenge, they are protecting the health
of the entire country, rather than the financial future of one industry. (Bauer, 2016) Immediately,
there was an uproar that sparked this intense debate, arguments between health concerns versus
constitutional rights. In this paper I would like to discuss the pros and cons of banning the
advertisement of tobacco products and the conflict of interest that it presents.
In favor of the ban, there are multiple countries, such as France, Finland, and Norway, that have
made the decision to prohibit tobacco companies from promoting their products. This ban extends
to advertisements, as well as sponsorship of sporting and cultural events. While these countries
have been able to keep most of these ads off their television and radio outlets, there are still a few
that have been able to sneak by, through international programming. (IBS Center for Management
Research, n.d.) Tobacco is currently the most dangerous consumer product out there, it is highly

I recently stayed at the Denver Warwick hotel for a business meeting and was very pleased with

A little over five years ago, President Barack Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act. This was a huge win for the Democratic party, after failing to successfully
reform healthcare during the Clinton Administration. The vast majority of the focus on the bill
went to the major provisions. However, the seldom mentioned COOP program began to make
headlines this year. This program allowed for the creation of state and region wide health insurance
cooperatives. These co ops were to be owned and run by its stakeholders with the intention of
providing quality insurance at a more affordable price. Originally designed to be a replacement
for the polarizing public option, nearly half of the co ops in the program failed in quick
succession. There were two primary causes. From the start the program was fundamentally flawed
and the funding that the co ops were promised simply did not materialize. This leaves Democratic
leaders at a crossroads. They can either fight to fix and save the program, or scrap it and look for
something better. Without intervention, the COOP program will continue to deteriorate and
consumers could be hurt. It is vital that the right lessons are learned from the COOP experiment.
The concept of a health insurance cooperative is not by any means a new one. In fact, Group

success that the cooperative model can provide. The idealized version of

Structure Function Analysis of Sodium Channels in Human iPSC derived Neurons
Keywords: iPSC, sodium channel, electrophysiology, neuron, inactivation
Background: Neuronal excitability mediated by sodium dependent action potentials (APs) is
required for rapid and specific communication in our brains. This underlies our ability to sense and
respond to stimuli and for higher order cognitive functions including learning and memory. Voltage
gated sodium channels (NaVs) open in response to membrane depolarization and initiate the AP.
The О± subunit is the major functional unit of NaVs and is comprised of 4 homologous domains
(DI DIV), each containing 6 transmembrane segments (S1 6)4,5. S4, the voltage sensor that detects
depolarization, contains 4 8 positively charged amino acids each separated by two hydrophobic
residues4,6. The positive charges on S4 are pushed outward by the electric field during membrane
depolarization leading to channel opening, allowing influx of positively charged sodium ions down
their concentration gradient4. Fast inactivation helps return the membrane to rest by blocking the
conductance of sodium ions through the channel pore 1,2.
Studies in expression systems suggest that the DIVS4 plays a unique role in inactivation1,2,3,6.

32. Cancer Immunoediting And Its Effect On Cancer Essay
Abstract:
The last fifteen years have seen a reemergence of interest in cancer immunosurveillance and a
broadening of this concept into one termed cancer immunoediting. The latter, supported by strong
experimental data derived from murine tumor models and provocative correlative data obtained by
studying human cancer, holds that the immune system not only protects the host against
development of primary nonviral cancers but also sculpts tumor immunogenicity. Cancer
immunoediting is a process consisting of three phases: elimination (i.e., cancer
immunosurveillance), equilibrium, and escape. Herein, we summarize the data supporting the
existence of each of the three cancer immunoediting phases. The full understanding of the
immunobiology of cancer immunosurveillance and immunoediting will hopefully stimulate
development of more effective immunotherapeutic approaches to control and/or eliminate human
cancers.
Summary:
Comments made decades ago by the architects of the cancer immunosurveillance hypothesis,
Burnet and Thomas, that there is little ground for optimism about cancer (Burnet, 1957) and the
greatest trouble with the idea of immunosurveillance is that it cannot be shown to exist in
experimental animals (Thomas, 1982), reflect the problems that, until recently, fomented intense
debate over whether natural immune defense mechanisms can protect the host against the
development of cancers of nonviral origin. The difficulty was clear: if immunosurveillance of

Canada s greatest allies, the alliances Canada supported, and Canada s security and defence
priorities in the 1970s and under the CanadaFirst Defence Strategy (CFDS). As this paper will
demonstrate, the key differences witnessed in the 1971 White Paper on Defence and in the 2008
Canada First Defence Strategy is in terms of the specificities of the foreign and defence policy
presented, the perceived types of threats to national and international security, and the Canadian
Forces capability to respond to such major challenges. However, both the 1971 White Paper and the

Canadians, then to defend North America in cooperation with the United States, and finally to
contribute to international security. Furthermore, both papers emphasize on the importance of
defence policy in achieving foreign policy objectives.
Global Strategic Environment
When assessing the global strategic environment, the major changes between 1971 and now is the

40. Political Identity In Persepolis
Are clothing, fashion, and lifestyle choices an effective way to make a political statement? Can
individuals express themselves without being constrained? This is an effective way and it is
shown in many ways. In the novel, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Marji does not wear her veil
because she is less of a person and it is a constant reminder of women oppression. In Politicsof the
Hoodie, the hoodie extinguishes individuality in this politicized life. In my eyes, this tactic is
very potent because in this society today, it is not easy to reside in. This is one of the ways that
citizens can express themselves instead of retorting to violence, especially teenagers today.
Despite the negative aspects that are created by the individuals on this earth, clothing, fashion,
and lifestyle decisions can make a compelling ideological statement. In the novel Persepolis, the
use of clothing, fashion, and lifestyle choices are used to make a political assertion. During the
Iranian Revolution, women were forced to wear the veil, but Marji disagreed with this. In the
text it states, Guns may shoot and knives may carve but we won t wear your silly scarves! (76).
This shows that the veil was a way women became involved in politics because it represented
their attitude towards the veil and how it should become an option. This was also a way that
women showed their rebellion towards the veil. Marji is approached by a female guardian of
the revolution and she insults her choice of clothing. In the text it states, Why are you wearing
those punk shoes? Aren t you ashamed to wear tight jeans like those? (133). This shows that
Marji s decision to wear her western style culture clothing to make a political statement was
effective. All of those items were forbidden it can be seen as an act of rebellion. Lastly, when
Marji received her Kim Wilde Poster, she loved it and hung it up in her room even though it was
not allowed. In the text it states It is so far out... I put my posters up in my room! (181). This
shows that even though posters conflicted with Iran s Islamic laws, this was Marji s way of

41. Enzyme Catalase Experiment
Introduction:
Within a cell, enzymes are used as a catalyst to increase the rate of chemical reaction. They do not
consume themselves, rather they help in increasing the rate of reaction. Within the body, enzymes
vary depending on their specific functions. For instance, hydrogen peroxide is a toxic chemical, but
it breaks down into harmless oxygen and water. This reaction can be sped up using the enzyme
catalyst produced by yeast. Hydrogen peroxide is produced as a byproduct in cellular reaction,
because it is poisonous and must be broken down, therefore this reaction is important. The speeding
up of the reaction is shown below:
2H2O (aq) catalyses 2H2O (l) + O2 (g)
This experiment is designed to analyze how the enzyme catalase activity is affected by the pH
levels. The experiment has also been designed to outline all of the directions and the ways by
which the observation can be made clearly and accurately. Yeast, will be used as the enzyme and
hydrogen peroxide will be used as a substrate. This experiment will be used to determine the effects
of the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide versus the rate of reaction of the enzyme catalase.
Hypothesis:
The presence of catalyst will cause hydrogen peroxide to break down into water and oxygen. The
increase in the pH of the substrate will cause the increase in the rate of reaction. It will optimize at
pH 7 and will diminish/moderate after pH 9.
The important questions that will help clarify the
