 Discuss the elements and principles of arts as
seen in Philippine Festivals.
 Explain what makes each of the Philippine festivals
unique through a visual presentation.

6. Theater
Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of performing art that uses
live performers, usually actors or actresses, to present the
experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a
specific place, often a stage.
A theater, theatre or playhouse, is a structure
where theatrical works, performing arts and musical concerts are
presented. The theater building serves to define the performance
and audience spaces.

• - Religious festivals are festivals that are relating to or manifesting
faithful devotion to God.
• Secular/ Non-religious
• - These festivals focus on the cultural heritage & aspects of our country
and are celebrated with enthusiasm and passion. denoting attitudes,
activities, or other things that have no religious or spiritual basis.

•  "Dagyang" means "to make
happy"

•  Santacruzan to honor "Elena of
Constantinople" and her son

•  They hold pageants for the best
well-dressed character

rituals, playin' & listenin' to ethnic
music, doing traditional dances.
•  Colorful Floats and costumes with
vibrancy and eclectic designs.

with challenges.
•  Costumes=diff. colorful fabrics
and patterns, woven together to
create ingenious pieces of inticrate

and textures feathers, multicolored
beads and etc...

•  Derived from the word "Mandayaw" w/c
means good, valuable, superior
•  Celebrated every year of August, Davao
City.
•  Festival of *thanksgiving for the gifts of
nature, *the wealth of culture, *the bounties
of harvest and *serenity of living.
•  Displays various farming implements:
fruits, flowers, vegetables, rice, corn grains
as tribute to the gods.
•  diff. dances, floats, tribal costumes and
jewelries
•  Interface 3 aspects: Tribal, Industrial &
Arts, and Entertainment.
