Descartes Meditations Essay
Descartes Meditations
In Descartes meditations, Descartes begins what Bernard Williams has called the
project of pure enquiry to discover an indubitable premise or foundation to base his
knowledge on, by subjecting everything to a kind of scepticism now known as
Cartesian doubt. This is known as foundationalism, where a philosopher basis all
epistemological knowledge on an indubitable premise.
Within meditation one Descartes subjects all of his beliefs regarding sensory data
and even existence to the strongest and most hyperbolic of doubts. He invokes the
notion of the all powerful, malign demon who could be deceiving him regarding
sensory experience and even his understanding of the simplest mathematical and
logical truths in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Human beings are capable of simultaneous thought, this is best illustrated when a
person is dreaming as the person will be receiving sensory data from both the
external world and from the dream therefore the human is thinking on more than one
level at a time which could result in there being two existence s. A further Cartesian
response could be that the level of thought or the amount of thought is irrelevant, all
that is important is that the thought is being generated by the one individual,
therefore it is the one individual that exists. It is seemingly impossible to criticise
the cogito argument as every time it is presented to our mind we are forced to assent
to it, it may be the case that this argument is infallible or at least indubitable,
Descartes therefore has convincingly overcome his doubt of his own existence.
Now that Descartes realised that he was a thinking being he focused his efforts on
trying to prove the existence of God for this Descartes has two arguments based on a
priori reasoning, the Ontological argument and the Trademark argument.
Descartes first argument for the existence of God is known as the Trademark
argument. The argument states that we all have the idea of God in our head (
...there is a real and positive idea of God or of a Being of supreme perfection to my
mind... ) as we are not able to
Julius Caesar in the Roman Empire
Gaius Cassius Longinus, Marcus Junius Brutus, and Marcus Antonius were three
key factors during the time of Julius Caesar in the Roman Empire. Cassius and
Brutus were the two main conspirators against Caesar, and Brutus was even the one
who assassinated him. Unlike the two of them, Marcus Antonius, Mark Antony, was
one of Caesar s right hand men and won many battles for him, including one against
Cassius. While Brutus and Cassius were at the head of the freight train that was
headed for Caesar, Antony stood firm, however helpless it seemed, with Caesar until
they failed on March 15, 44 BC when Caesar was killed.
The exact date of the birth of Gaius Cassius Longinus is unknown, but it was before
85 BC, so little is known of his early life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Brutus mother was now Caesar s lover, he was released from captivity and
became a member of the senior priesthood of the pontifices. From 47 to 45, he
governed Cisalpine Gaul (now northern Italy) for Caesar (biographybase.com).
Caesar appointed him as praetor of the city along with Gaius Cassius Longinus and
named, in advance, them as consuls of 41. After Cato died in 46, Brutus married
Porcia, Cato s daughter.
For all of Brutus life, he felt optimistic about Caesar s plans but was flabbergasted
when Caesar made himself perpetual dictator and was deified as best stated by
britannica.com. Always conscious of his descent from Lucius Junius Brutus, who
was said to have driven the Etruscan kings from Rome, Brutus joined Cassius and
other leading senators in the plot that led to the assassination of Julius Caesar on
March 15, 44 BC (britannica.com). Brutus and Cassius were then forced to leave
Rome by the people but remained in Italy until Mark Antony kicked the out. The
two traveled to Greece where they were assigned provinces in the east by the senate.
Slowly they took over all of the land east of Rome (that means the armies and the
treasuries). Brutus took all of the wealth he had and turned it into Roman gold/silver
coins which he imprinted his face on. In the latter half of 42 BC, Brutus and Cassius
fought Mark Antony and Octavian (later emperor Augustus) in two battles near
Philippi, Greece. Cassius had his freedman kill

The Allisons In The Summer People By Shirley Jackson
The prompt I have chosen is, In the story The Summer People, The Allisons believe
that the locals (the Country People) are harassing them because of their decision to
stay at the cottage past Labor Day. Do you believe the locals are actually doing this
or do you believe the Allisons are simply paranoid and imagining this? Please
respond in a concise, well written three paragraph essay with specific examples and
textual evidence from the text to support your answer.
In Shirley Jackson s short story, The SummerPeople the Allisons decided to stay at
their summer cottage past labor day. This decision, however may not have been for
the best. After making this decision the Allisons began to become paranoid as
things started to not go their way. First of all the townspeople began to question
them as to why they wanted to stay. They informed them that no one had ever stayed
past Labor Day. The Allisons also had to deal with the fact they could no longer buy
kerosene or have their groceries delivered as they had during the summer months.
They also received an interesting letter from their son that left them feeling confused
and a bit concerned because it did not sound like their son s writing. Lastly they had
things in their house that were braking such as their phone. Their car also had
somehow broken and was no longer functioning. All of these occurrences startled the
Allison. They couldn t understand how they had been able to live so peacefully in
their cottage all summer

Factors Contributing For Criminal Activity Among
African...
In the Late 1980 s, the father of sociology, W.E.B. Dubois conducted a study in
Philadelphia that developed possible explanations for criminal activity among
African Americans. Throughout his study, he observed that if men are moved from
different environments, they began to lose harmony with the environment that results
in crime(Shaun L. Gabbidon,2015). Dubois used variables such as age,
unemployment, and poverty to explain crime (1899). Furthermore, Dubois study
became a template to be used in studies that come to follow. During the 1900 s,
cities such as Chicago began to experience some of the same challenges that were
previously studied in Philadelphia (Gabbidon,2015). As a result, of the similar
experience between the two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2) After individual and family factors are accounted for, do ethnicity and/or
residence in underclass neighborhoods add to the explanation of delinquency? In
order to answer the questions that were posed, a set of measures were used. In their
study Peeples and Loeber considered factors such as Age, percentage poor/welfare,
Percentage single parent, hyperactivity, and supervision as independent variables. On
the other hand, they considered factors such as family poverty, welfare use, families
with no one employed, male joblessness, and assisted housing. A cross sectional
assessment of 506 Pittsburgh public school boys were used to determine how the
listed factors can possibly lead to juvenile delinquency. They also did a follow up six
months after the initial assessment. In the sample of schools boys, 290 were African
American youths. Peeples and Loeber found that 40% of African American youths
lived in poor neighborhoods, compared to 5% of white youths that lived in the same
neighborhood. Also, twice as many African American boys had engaged in some
forms of delinquency in their life than White boys. Additionally, African Americans
and did not differ in terms of the seriousness of delinquent acts or frequency of
serious acts. However, African Americans had a higher total frequency of delinquent
acts than Whites. The
Laocoon s Influence on Renaissance Artists
The Renaissance was indeed a proud moment in history. It was a time of the
revitalization of antiquity, breakthrough scientific discoveries, and profound,
inspirational artwork. The desire and urge to establish stronger connections with the
classical past brought about the search and discovery of many ancient manuscripts
and artworks. One of the most celebrated discoveries occurred during the height of
the Renaissance: The Laocoon. Perhaps one of the world s most famous Hellenistic
sculptures, it was originally located in the palace of Titus. It was then lost for over a
thousand years before its rediscovery in 1506. Pope Julius IIimmediately acquired it,
and displayed it in the Vatican Museums. The renowned discovery of one of the few...

The Trojans accepted the gift, and at night, the Greeks slipped out of the horse and
opened the city, which led to the fall of Troy. Laocoon was a high priest of Troy
who warned against accepting the wooden horse. Frustrated that the Trojans were
ignoring his warnings, Laocoon threw a spear at the giant wooden horse, and
spurned the rage of Poseidon (who, along with the other Gods favored the Greeks) to
send giant sea serpents to strangle him.
One of the major significances of the Laocoon Group was the timing and effect of
its celebrated discovery. Prior to its discovery, the only known records of its
existence were from ancient manuscripts and records by Pliny the Elder. Buried
underground for over a millennium, the Laocoon Group emerged once again after
its discovery near the baths of Titus in 1506. This was during the height of the
Renaissance, an era of the revitalization of the classics. Due to the strong desire to
possess the great works of antiquity, its discovery was an immediate success.
Discovering the Laocoon was like discovering the Titantic; an ancient treasure finally
revealed after endless years of searching.
Pliny the Elder (23 79) was an ancient author and philosopher who lived from the
reign of Nero to that of Vespasian. His encyclopedia, Natural History, was a
collection of much of the known knowledge of his time. In it, he describes the

Coal Mining In West Virginia Essay
Before 1890 in West Virginia, you would not be able to see any signs of coal
mining. However, after 1890 coal mining surged due to new legislative
representatives favoring the use of land in an industrial sense. Coal mining was now
dominating the southern region of West Virginia. In the beginning, coal miningdid not
seem to have many effects on the people or land; but, eventually people became very
aware of the negative consequences that came from coalmining. People are now
aware that coal miningin West Virginia was almost entirely detrimental to the
environment as well as the community. Throughout West Virginia, everyone agreed
there was a large amount of air pollution from coal mines. These air pollutants were
so bad in the 1990s that the Clean Air Act was enacted. However, this act had
unforeseen consequences of its own. Coal companies began to need much more
readily available coal. So, they mined coal that was closer to the surface by using
mountaintop removal. This resulted in a decrease in jobs for miners because this
was a much easier and efficient way of removing coal. The many jobs that were
originally created by coal mining were now being cut. Now numerous people in West
Virginia were left unemployed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People feared that these slurry impoundments would collapse and cause direct harm
to their community. The young and elderly were so terrified of the collapses that
they often times slept fully clothed. Some schools had to permanently close due to
conditions caused by the slurry impoundments. These impoundments have even
killed many school children. While it didn t happen in West Virginia, a very similar
compound in Wales spilled over and killed 144 people. 116 of these people were
children who were attending school at the time. Disasters like these should no longer
be cautionary tales to slurry impounds in West
The Influence Of Stephen Curry In Basketball
Stephen Curry is one of the most successful basketball players in NBA nowadays.
As a basketball player, Stephen Curry is popular because he is fun to watch and he
is defied expectations. Entering the 2009 NBA draft, Steph was the
NCAA(college basketball) scoring leader and the first team All American. When
he was selected in NBA draft, some NBA teams were worriying, because Steph is
191 cm and his athleticism was pedestrian. Finally, he was selected 7th overall,
there were four other guards and 2 of them points guard selected before him, by
Golden State Warriors. For two seasons between 2011 and 2013, he battled recurring

Symptoms And Treatment Of Dengue Fever
Dengue fever is a viral infection that is spread by the tiger mosquito (Aedes
Aegypti). It has black and yellow strips and usually bites in the early morning or at
dawn. The virus enters and breeds in white blood cells. Symptoms typically start
appearing five to eight days after being ill. The virus has five diverse styles of
increasing severity. Infection with one category gives lifetime immunity to it and
short term immunity to the other categories. The dengue virus isn t transmittable and
can t be spread from individual to individual. Maximum individuals will only
experience mild symptoms such as an simple fever.
How do you get viral fever?
Viral fever is usually transmitted via the air by droplets from diseased folks, or by
touching plague ridden secretions.
Treatment options
Antimalarial drugs are accessible for the treatment of malaria and even seasonal viral
fever; quite the reverse, there is no drug available for the treatment of dengue. It is
treated with helpful measures such as blood transfusion and fluid restoration.
However, the prescription used in malaria fundamentally depends on where the
septicity was acquired and on the type of infecting parasite.

Olaudah Equiano And The Abolitionist Movement
One example of a black individual who was a significant influence on the
abolitionist movement was Olaudah Equiano (also known as Gustavus Vassa) a
freed slave that spoke about his terrifying life story which helped contribute towards
the end of the slave trade. Equiano was born in 1736 and bought his freedom as a
slave in 1767. Equiano began his involvement in the abolitionist movement in the
1780 s when he published his best selling book The Interesting Narrative of the Life
of Olaudah Equianoor Gustavus Vassa, the African in 1789. At the time, many
Britons thought Africans were illiterate but Equiano proved them wrong as he could
wield the English language well and learnt several skills whilst still a slave.
Furthermore, his book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Douglass was introduced to the movement in 1841 when a man named William
Coffin heard one of his speeches at an anti slavery meeting and was so impressed
with his oratorical skills that Coffin invited him to share his story as a slave in a
convention organised by the Massachusetts Anti Slavery Society (MAS). This
therefore supports my previous discussion that black people could contribute to
society and live normal lives without white people diminishing their human rights and
privileges and making them slaves.
Douglass got his passion to promote freedom for all slaves after he escaped from
slavery and ultimately had an end goal to abolish slavery in all its forms and
aspects, and promote the moral and intellectual improvement of the coloured people
and hasten the day of freedom to the three million of enslaved fellow countrymen .
He also wrote several autobiographies describing his experiences as a slave. One of
the autobiographies in particular, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an
American Slave published in 1845 was a best selling and was extremely influential
for promoting the cause of abolition. The narrative shows a compelling argument to
basic human rights thus making it extremely influential as the narrative clearly
possesses features and linguistic skills, which for most white people, negated their
common perception of black people being illiterate in the 19th century.

Mobile Phones Has Revolutionized The Way Americans Live
There are multiple technologies that have appeared in the past half century, but most
importantly these technologies have revolutionized the way Americans live. We ve
spent time researching and exploring their beginnings, as well as where they ve taken

communication, specifically mobile telephones. Mobile phones, better known as cell
phones are constantly advancing to incorporate the new needs and desires of users

regardless of where we re located, we re within immediate reach of each other
through an electronic communications network. By definition, corporeal
telecopresence is a form of human colocation in which both individuals are present
in person at their local sites, but they are located in each other s electronic proximity
rather than physical proximity (Zhao, 2003, pg. 447), which is what takes place
when my teammates and I are in communication through the use of GroupMe. When
I first started the group for my teammates, the users that had already had the app

the app downloaded received a different notification from GroupMe, which was still

Arguments Against Proposition 205
On November 8th 2016, Arizonans will exercise their right to vote for or against
Proposition 205, the Regulation and Taxation Act, that could legalize the
recreational use of marijuana in Arizona. Currently, in Arizona, marijuana has only
been legalized for medicinal purposes and participants must be registered and carry
a medical marijuana identification card. Similarly to when Colorado, Washington
and Oregon all proposed the same measures to legalize the recreational use of
marijuana over the last four years, there is strong opposition as well as solid
support of the amendment in Arizona. In spite of the rhetoric from the opposition,
the passing of proposition 205 will prove to be far more beneficial than risky as it

Kinship is the cornerstone for how people within a society relate to others and race
lineages. Many societies trace their lineage through the father, which is called
patrilineal, or through the mother which is called matrilineal. The Iroquois nation
traced their kinship through the matrilineal decent lines. Kinship directly relates to
how family groups think, act and live along side each other. The culture of the
Iroquois can also be compared to how many American families relate to one another
as well.

Often times there are couples that get married but have chosen not to stay with one
another because of a difference in opinion, this is called divorce.
Iroquois and divorce Often time s couples marry only to find out that they have a
difference of opinion or one spouse has caused serious marital strain on the other.
Since the Iroquois couples lived matrilineally, this makes it easier for the woman to
dissolve the marriage, keep her children and continue to live at home with her
family. If a woman no longer desired to be married to her husband, all she had to do
was pack up her husband s belongings and leave them on the steps of the longhouse.
When he came home, the husband would find them, realize his wife had terminated
the marriage, and return to his home village and his own patrilineage. (Nowak, B.
amp; Laird, P. 2010 chapter 4.5 Divorce) In the American culture it is more difficult
to obtain a divorce.
Americans and divorce Americans divorce for the same reasons the Iroquois
divorced for however, in the American culture it is harder to divorce. Many times
couples divorce because of infidelity of one or both of the spouses, or from
irreconcilable differences. In order to obtain a divorce in America many states
require the couple to attend counseling to see if they can fix their marriage.
Sometimes this is successful and the couple will stay together and often times it is
not possible for the couple to stay together so they will then obtain a divorce

The Importance Of Strengthening Your Grip On Football
Strengthening Your Grip On The Football. Fumbles occur usually as a result of the
quarterback being knocked down and the defender punching the ball out of his
hands while he s falling. While it is true that a good defensive play can cause a
fumble, some cases can be avoided with some drills. The first drill you can try is
the Spin Move drill. Naturally when you fall you put your arm out for balance. This
allows any defender behind you to knock the ball out of your hands. This drill tries to
expose you to an unbalanced position, all while stressing the importance of keeping
the ball tucked. Start by setting up three cones about five yards apart. While holding
the ball, sprint to the first cone, slow down, then plant your non dominant hand
Fundamental Error
One of the biggest problems we have in society today is the division between blacks
and whites. Though the United States has come a long way in this separation, we still
see major disparities in every social institution; blacks being on the negative end in
each. Between the prison system, school, and the work place, there hasn t been
enough, if any, programs or laws to change that. The reason is, there are a lot of
people who think the problem is not with the systems, but just a problem with the
individuals. This is referred to as the Fundamental Attribution Error. This theory
explains that when a person is evaluating another person s behavior, they typically
overestimate the personal disposition impact and underestimate the impact of the
situation.
Academic Tenure
Climbing the academic ladder to tenure is a long process that requires patience,
persistence and dedication. As tenures decline , it is important to think about ways
to secure a job in the academia. I believe that tenure in universities depends on
teaching as well as research and publishing. Great scientists such as Einstein had
considerable amount of published papers even before he got the academia job and
PhD. On the other hand, I believe that a high quality teaching professor, who also
focuses on research deserves a tenureposition. Landing in a tenure position is very
difficult, but remains a possibility. Having a sense of quantity and quality of
publications is crucial to climb the ladder of an academic tenure position. It is

I truly belive that the hardest stage is establishing a recognizable and professional
staus in the educational facility and maintaining the good work. It is important to be
proactive, intiative and a socially communicative. Keeping publications up to date
and isolation avoidance, in addition to thinking out of the box can utilize analytical
capabilities to promote writing and publishing. Additionally adhering to the right
publishing strategies and guidelines can facilitae the road to tenure positions. On
another note, I also believ that finding the right fertile academic environment that
encourages competition and positive thinking can lead to a productive and relaxed
path to a tenure position. On another note, since, the road to a tenure track position
is hard and long, a thoughtful and careful palnning is required with a high degree o
self assurance, confidence and trust . I am a firm believr that some tenure jobs are
hard to get at prestigious universities such as Harvard for instance as the payoff is
huge. The associated rewards such as gaining and elite position in a community of
highly qualifies and inteleectual individuals and a chance to land in a lifetime
secured position. The toughness of the possibility of getting a job at Elite
Universities can be attributed to global competition, where, many doctoral students

The Matrix Mise-En-Scene
The matrix is a film or movie that was shot in the American Austrain, the year 1999
written and directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski. The movie depicts a dystopian
future where reality as perceived by human beings is actually a mutated reality
called The Matrix . It is created by living machines to overpower the human
population while their bodies heat and electrical activities are used as energy source.
The matrixfilm uses the elements of mise en scene for it to deliver a thorough
meaning of the film to the audience. Hence, mise en scene is a powerful and crucial
cinematic technique in film.the specific use of this element is there as stated to

is there to make it a point that important details are not left behind. my focus is on
the mise en scene of the Matrix film. Therefore, I am going to discuss the five

Deep Ecology And Religion Essay
Through this portion of class readings and discussions, we have sought deeper
meaning and understanding of philosophies of individuals and organizations that
revolve around the fundamental aspects and notions of deep ecology and eco
activism. These associations offer more views and attitudes on how an individual and
society can create and maintain a kinshipand positive influencewith the natural
environment.
Like deep ecologist s view on the metaphysical relationship of man and nature. Eco
activist s contend to a belief of ecology as religion (Kinsley 193). They take their
duty with the environment as a deeply spiritual, physical, and emotional connection.
Specifically, an environmental action group called Green Peace, brings forth a ...

This objective is to start with a small or local community to implement the
redefinition of nature s role with mankind instead of losing the context
This will allow the opinions and assumptions towards the planetary consciousness to
slowly penetrate the roots of society. An example of the type of movement to start
changing ideology locally is bio regionalism movement which aims to rebuild our
cosmology locally and putting a greater emphasis on an individual s place in the
natural world particularly the resources that immediately surround them.
This idea of finding your place is an exceptional solution for an individual to get back
in touch with nature further it will allow an individual to have a deeper connection
and knowledge with the people that encircle them. Chad Myer, who spoke to our
class about Bioregionalism claims that economic globalization, has led us to
displacement with people, environment, and ourselves. This globalization stemmed
from the colonization of America. As the Europeans migrated the sense of
individuality rose while the sense of belonging decreased.
In order to reverse this individualism Bio regionalism and Green Peace and other
deep ecology organizations believe that society should reconstruct their lifestyle s and

nature as kin and taking on a lifestyle that is both nurturing and respectful to
Josephine Baker Speech At The March On Washington
Analysis
Freedom is such a beautiful thing to have, but back a couple years ago freedom
wasn t for everyone. Not until people like Dr. Martin Luther King who made a
stand for the peoples rights and became a voice for those that s don t have a voice
to speak. Whether your white or colored, everyone should deserve a chance at
freedom, same rights as everyone else, be treated equally as everyone else, and the
pursuit of happiness. In the Speech at the March on Washington by Josephine
Baker, she explain that everyone no matter their color they should be treated the
same as a human being. Baker lived in France for part of her life but returned to the
U.S. and she did not get treated the same as in France. When I was a child and they

Organic Dairy Farming Is The Process Of Raising Animals
On...
Introduction Organic dairy farming is the process of raising animals on organic
feed (i.e. pastures cultivated without the use of non organic fertilisers or
pesticides), the animals having access to pasture or the outside, along with the
restricted usage of antibiotics and hormones (Oruganti, 2011). Organic dairying is
a rapidly growing industry in New Zealand, with ever increasing demands placed
on its supply chain. Organic dairy exports have nearly doubled in value from 2012
to 2015. In 2012 exports were valued at $36,950,000, and in 2015 exports were
valued at $68,290,000 (Organics Aotearoa New Zealand, 2016). The main aim of
organic farmers and the industry as a whole is to enhance biological diversity
within the system, increase soil biological activity and maintain long term soil
fertility (AsureQuality, 2016). As part of our research we partook in a farm visit
and discussion with Manawatu organic dairy farmers Cathy and Jamie Tait
Jamieson, who have created a leading organic label; BioFarm. Cathy expressed her
views of the current status of the domestic industry. She described organic dairying
as a niche market, with strong growth and a focus on improving sustainability,
traceability and ethical practices. Conventional farmers have been struggling in
terms of poor milk price, whereas organic dairying is moving ahead in leaps and
bounds, in an environmentally conscious way (Tait Jamieson, 2016). Problems or
challenges faced from Cathy s point of view highlighted the
Outdoor Sports Is An Integral Part Of Our Culture
Among the many things that Americans enjoy, basketball has always been an
integral part of our culture. I picked up the game when I was in the first grade and
still find myself playing it whenever I get the chance. Nowadays, there seems to be
a lack of parks and such for people to go to and have some fun with others.
Streetball has made its own culture and kids grow up idolizing older players that are
out on the courts making the gamelook so enjoyable. With that being said, it is in my
firm belief that outdoor basketballcourts are an essential part of communities and
need to be given more attention because they are great places for kids to go and play
and stay out of trouble while being in touch with their surroundings. There is... Show

Most players began playing basketball as compared to other sports because it was
easily accessible and relatively cheap with basically everything provided when
going to a local court. I was not surprised to find that one of my favorite basketball
players of all time was a streetballer. He was a troublemaker, and was previously
sentenced to serve fifteen years in prison but managed to turn himself around with
the game of basketball. Allen Iverson spent his days at the park working on his
lethal crossover that would one day even make Michael Jordan look silly. Those
days spent at the court led him to a full scholarship to attend Georgetown, in which
he later entered the NBA Draft after his sophomore year, and ended up being
selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Not only did Allen Iverson change
the NBA because of streetball. There is also Stephon Marbury, Jason White
Chocolate Williams, and Jamal Crawford (Walter). They all are scrappy and flashy
players which helped bring some toughness and excitement back to the NBA. If it
were not for the parks out there allowing these players to pick up the game, they
may have went a different way in life and been stuck in their slums. A twenty dollar
basketball and a place for them to go and use it got them to the point where they are
making a career out of it. Given those previous players making a name for themselves
on the courts, why
Importance Of Nazi Propaganda
Propaganda was the central instrument acquiring and maintaining the power of
Nazi Germany. All of the success can be attributed to propaganda. Propaganda is
the information, ideas, opinions, or images that are broadcast, published, or in
some other way spread with the intention of influencing public opinion. This was
the most effective method the Nazis used to persuade thousands of people about
their ideologies. Jewish people, African Germans, LGBT people, Roma, and
others were portrayed as undesirable by Nazi propaganda. It used newspaper
cartoons, films, books, radio, and posters in their effort to dehumanize Jewish
people. The purpose of Nazi propaganda was to convince members of the public
who had not yet been convinced of the importance of Hitler s racial policies and to
inspire those who already agreed with him. Words and expressions with generally
neutral and/or positive meanings were used to disguise acts of terror and destruction.
Nazi Germanycould be never rich success without propaganda.
Head of Nazi propaganda
Hitler knew very well the value of good propaganda and he appointed Joseph
Goebbels as head of propaganda. Paul Joseph Goebbels was Minister of Propaganda
from 1933 to 1945. He was one of the closest friends of Hitler. Goebbels was
responsible for presenting a favorable image of the Nazi regime to the German
public. In 1933, Goebbels created the Reich Chamber of Commerce which was
responsible to deal with literature, art, music, radio, film, newspapers
Morte D Arthur s Supernatural Aspects In The Day Of
Destiny
Supernatural Aspects in Arthurian Legend
Le Morte d Arthur is just a short part taken out of the story The Day of Destiny
written by Sir Thomas Malory but retold by Keith Baines. In Le Morte d Arthur
Baines seems to portray a lot of supernatural aspects in King Arthur s actions and
decisions because it was a very common theme in literature of the Middle Ages.
Supernatural events and miracles were very common back in middle age literature.
Most of the time supernatural events were used for two purposes, which were to
either promote Christianity by having miracles come true, punishing people in a very
mystical way, or it was added into literature just for entertainment (Richey). In
Arthurian legend the story would not been the same without the help received from
Arthur s magical efforts from the Lady of the Lake, Merlin, and Morgan Le Fay,
Arthur s evil half sister, whose magic was added just for the use of entertainment. Yet
it it fascinating and elaborate that Arthur s success would not exist without the help of
these people and what they had given him.
Even though the use of magic on The Day of Destiny ... Show more content on

These stories kept the thought that Arthur was taken to Avalon to be magically
cured and to return to rule Britain. With the fact that there is no known
whereabouts of where Arthur was buried after his battle means that there is no
proof that he had died in the first place if any of these actions did happen. I feel that
with the help of the magic that Arthur had help with means that Arthur could of
survived that battle and could of been healed of his injuries in Avalon, but I also
don t believe in magic so Arthur is most likely died in battle and probably didn t have
any magic help in his lifetime, but I ll let any reader of these stories
Central Theme Of Polygamy In Obanua
Close to the truth is the fact that there are several indications in the novels which are
deliberate efforts of the author, no doubt which point at the cultural coexistence of
modernity and tradition with which we are concerned. Of course, these indications
are linked to the authorial intent of the novel which we find can be similar to subtly
providing the pieces to a puzzle. Therefore, in their own right, these indications serve
the purpose of making us see .
In a sense, there is almost no way for us to discuss tradition and modernity with
respect to the novel without in some way tackling the pivotal and central theme of
polygamy, which, we will find, can actually augment the profundity of the topic at
hand, and more so, since the central theme of polygamy is the harbinger of the
situation that we find in the novel.
It all begins with Obanua s decision that he wanted a second wife (The Victims 4).
This is the ultimate harbinger, for it sets in motion a series of disastrous events with
incendiary consequences. The fatal error in this decision is that Obanua doesn t
consider his financial and economic status before actualizing the decision. The
question therefore is that is he so daft that he cannot weigh his decision upon the
scale of reason? Something must be the source of his pathological desire for a
second wife when he is fully aware that he can barely provide for his current family.
Guilty of pushing Obanua to make the grand mistake that he does is none other than

Comparing Velazquez And Picasso s Paintings
Velazquez and Picasso made two similar painting s, both named las meninas. Both
of the painting s represent a princess being helped by her maids or helpers. While
Picasso s was very abstract, Velazquez s was very realistic. While Picasso s painting
focused more on the princess, Velazquez s painting focused more on the maids
/helpers.
Picasso s painting is the thought of the first paragraph. Picasso was a very abstract
artist. He almost made his painting s with stain glass. In the painting he made he
made the princess very big and beautiful. The maid stood by making her look
beautiful. I think Picasso was portraying that real beauty comes from the ones you
least expect. Although the princess was, well a princess, she could only become
beautiful with the help of her maids, if her maids weren t there then she wouldn t be
pretty. Although her maids aren t pretty that doesn t mean that true beauty comes
from the outside, and that s what I think picasso was trying to portray. ... Show more

Now Velazquez s painting is far different than Picassos. Velazquez s painting is
focused on the princess. It shows maids running around grabbing things and putting
them on the princess to get her ready for the day. It also shows Velazquez, standing
in the room looking at the chaos in front of him. There is also a dog and many maids
surrounding the dog and bowing to the princess. While the princess stands there and
has no emotion. This painting was titled las meninas. A very fitting title because the
princess does nothing while all the detail is set on the maids that are attending to the
David Blaine Accomplishments
The 39 year old magician, David Blaine, pushed the limits of the human scale one
more time and shocked audiences with his new stunt Electrified: One Million
Volts Always On . Once again, he challenged his audience to question the definition
of real and unreal, possible and impossible, standing on a 22 foot high platform,
surrounded by seven Tesla coils for 73 hours without food or sleep. The
performance took place on Pier 54 in New York City, October 5th through 8th. It
was open to the audience and was free of charge. The combination of endurance,
science, music, beautiful lightening, and live interaction made this experience
truly inspirational and magical. David Blaine took magic to another level in a
unique way; he transitioned close up street magic into an endurance art. Bill
Kalush, Blaine s friend, fellow magician, and writer says: Endurance art almost
didn t exist before David (Electrified). But what makes him find the beauty in
danger, what drives him to test the limits of the human body through these death
defying acts? He previously buried himself alive for seven days (April 5, 1999), was

American Beauty By Sam Mendes
American Beauty (1999) is directed by Sam Mendes (also the director of Skyfall
and Spectre) and stars Kevin Spacey which examines the ordinary occurances of a
family who live a desirable life but are unhappy and stagnant. Kevin Spacey plays
the role of Lester Burnham, a suburban father and who is tired of his boring job and
family. Within the film are many themes, the most important of these being lust and
beauty. The film applies many visual effects to demonstrate the overall desired tone,
and helps to implicitly present a false sense of the american dream . American Beauty
demonstrates a clear presentation of longing within relationships or lifestyles, and
uses filming techniques to imply these hidden themes.
The main theme demonstrated throughout the film is seeming, and how it relates to
true nature. Each character within the film shows an awareness of the struggles
seeming brings, and eventually confronts it. Carolyn is the prime example, as
constantly within the film she struggles to progress within her career and attempts to
be happy in doing so. This is shown in the scene where she attempts to sell a house,
fails to do so, and physically abuses herself as punishment. Colonel Fitts (Ricky s
father) also struggles with appearance, as he constantly tells Ricky homosexuality is
disgusting, and nearing the end of the film we find Fitts is homosexual himself. This
challenges his interpretation of masculinity and what he has believed his entire life. A

Prescription Over Counter Drugs Essay
Prescription and over the counter drugs. If you asked the vast majority of people

think that this drug is absolutely safe with only a very small chance of it harming
you in any way. But just last year the FDA has strengthen the warning on all NSAID

that category. While many people don t take medicine that say ibuprofen many you
might be taking something like Motrin or Advil, and these to fall into the category of
NSAID s. The fact that there is a very small amount of education on this subject
surprises me. Many people know that abusing the big drugs like cocaine, heroin and

prescription drug abuse. I am not talking about the prescription only drugs but the

Racism In Song Of Solomon
Racism has been a substantial part of the black culture for an abounding number of
years. Slavery ended only for another brutalized reality to come into fruition. White

were above the cruelty and racism, they were so out of touch with themselves. In the
novel, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, the perspective of racism through the
eyes of three black men is a crucial part of their characterization and understanding
them as black men in the 1930 s.
Milkman, the main character, son of Macon Dead, friend of Guitar Bains and
great grandson of Solomon is in every way impacted by their thoughts whether he
knows it or not. Milkman is careless when it comes to the perception of racism. He
feels it doesn t affect him in any way because of who he is, but he doesn t even
know who he is as a man or as a black man. The name Guitar Bains plays a major
role in him as a character; a guitar is an instrument that has 6 strings, you manipulate
the strings and chords to get a sound. Guitar the character is just like the instrument,
he is easily manipulated and can be deceived into believing anything, especially
about the black people. Guitar Bains is the best friend of
Collegiate Athletic Practices Of Collegiate Sports
The NCAA was founded in 1906 to protect young people from the dangerous and
exploitive athletic practices of the time, (Treadway). At the time the National
Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA, initiated in 1906, no one ever considered
that collegiate sports would develop into the billion dollar program that it is
currently. Collegiate sports in America are on pace to surpass the popularity of
American professional sports. The growth of the NCAA has led to numerous
complications. Taking a step back, the NCAA started off with a small number of
schools that offered Division 1 athletics. Currently, there are roughly 350 schools that
offer Division 1 athletics. The schools are divided into 3 branches major, high major,

At the time, only a few colleges across America participated in collegiate sports and
the only sport practiced was football. The system in place was extremely
unorganized. Collegiate sports resulted in nothing but problems for colleges,
primarily because there were no health protocols in place for the athletes. There
appeared to be little hope to maintain collegiate sports until Theodore Roosevelt
stepped in in 1906. Theodore Roosevelt, an unabashed fan of the sport, gathered 13
football representatives at the White House for two meetings at which those in
attendance agreed on reforms to improve safety. What would later become known
as the NCAA was formed shortly after on the heels of this unifying safety
agreement. (Treadway). Since the NCAA was formed in 1906, the strides it has
made have been remarkable. The association originated to enforce health
improvement. A handful of participating schools turned into a multi billion dollar
industry. To clarify, the NCAA has 3 divisions; Division 1, Division 2, and Division
3. The financial problems pertain primarily to the 3 branches of Division 1 because
Division 1 programs bring in the better athletes, greater revenue, and are more popular
to the public. Today, collegiate sporting events are televised more professional
sporting events, thus generate a combined larger profit than the profits
The Philadelphia Museum Of Art Museum
The Philadelphia Museum of Art was my first time to an art museum, and overall I
think it was a good experience. When I thought of an art museum, I thought it was
going to be all paintings. But as it turns out, that idea was wrong. There were lots
of other forms of art there as well. The exhibit that I enjoyed the most was the
International Pop exhibit. But there were also many other exhibits that I enjoyed
as well. Some of those include; European, American, Arms and Armor. All every
interesting exhibits that everyone should see. But those are not all, when going to
this museum, every exhibit should be looked at, all have very interesting things in
them. The International pop exhibit was one of my favorite out of all the exhibits.
The International Pop navigates a fast paced world packed with bold and thought
provoking imagery, revealing a vibrant period shaped by social, political, and
cultural changes . One piece of art that I found interesting was Still Life by Tom
Wesselmann, American, 1931 2004 . When looking at this piece if reminds me of
different time. This piece reminds me of other art works that I have seen with the
same kinds of things on it as well. Another work of art that I enjoyed was the 20th
/21st Century Tribute by AntГґnio Henrique Amaral , this painting makes the viewer
actually stop and look at it. There are many different parts to this painting too look at.
When walking through the museum, this was definitely something that catches ones
eye.
Key Elements Of Self Advocacy
SELF ADVOCACY
Definition of Self Advocacy
Self Advocacy is learning how to speak up for yourself, making your own decisions
about your own life, learning how to get information so that you can understand
things that are of interest to you, finding out who will support you in your journey,
knowing your rights and responsibilities, problem solving, listening and learning,
reaching out to others when you need help and friendship, and learning about self
determination[1]. It helps a person excel in all aspects of life. It is good to start

Key Elements of Self Advocacy
Self advocacy is when one understands one s strengths and weaknesses, knows what
one needs to communicate to other people.
At its heart, self advocacy is your child s ability to speak up for what she needs. [2]
The skill of self advocacy can be broken down into a few key elements:
As a part of self awareness one understands one s needs.
One needs to know what help or support will address one s needs, like tutoring or a
classroom accommodation.
One needs to communicate one s needs to teachers and others.

The Grand Budapest Hotel, By Wes Anderson
Wes Anderson has done it again with his new film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. True
to the style of Anderson movies, The Grand Budapest Hotel is filled with gorgeous
color schemes, witty lines, impeccable scoring, and perfectly symmetrical frames. We
even get glimpses of the usual crew that act in the Anderson franchise, including Tilda
Swinton, Owen Wilson, and Bill Murray. Shot in a 1930 s style movie frame, the
story starts out on a snowy white scene in a small European town. A girl walks to a
memorial of a man, sits down by his statue and opens up a book. A voice over then
begins, as well as the main story, which is composed in a flashback recounted by an
author (Tom Wilkinson). The flashback depicts the author traveling to The Grand
Budapest Hotelin hopes of curing his writer s block. There, in the slow crumbling of
the hotel, he meets M. Moustafa, the proprietor of the Grand Budapest. The rest is
history, literally. The main part of the movie takes place in a war ravaged Zabrowka,
with communists in control and the Grand Budapest Hotel struggling to keep its
usual amount of affluent customers. We are introduced to the conciergeand manager
of the hotel, M. Gustave, a delightfully flawed character who is charming and
lovable yet completely irresponsible. He lectures the staff about their cleanliness and
professionalism yet sleeps with the elderly (and married) women who frequent his
hotel. One dowager in particular becomes important after she is murdered after

Comparing Women And Men s Basketball
It is officially basketball season! Do you know what this means? This means crazy
fans going topless, painting their torso one color, incise a letter to spell out their
team s name, and excessive screaming. It is such an interesting atmosphere to be in.
However, there is a difference between men and women basketball. What is the
difference? Women and men s basketball are different in so many ways. Even though
their size, athleticism, speed, and strength are comparable they are less competitive,
are not able to reach the same level of stability while men add an interest to the game.

The Car Doesn T Turn Where It Is Turned
A car s steering system enables the car to turn and its suspension system smooths
out the ride. However things can go wrong, making the ride rough or steering
difficult or dangerous. This means time to repair. Many types of steering and
suspension systems have been used to control cars. Older cars use mechanical
suspension that relies on springs and shock absorbers but new cars use hydraulic
cylinders called struts. Besides this, many of today s cars rely on rack and pinion
steering. Without proper care, a car s steering system should give 80,000 to
100,000 miles of smooth turns. Why The Car Doesn t Turn Where It Is Turned?
Here are some tips for troubleshooting steering and suspension systems: If the car s
power steering system growls when turning, then the power steering booster fluid
level needs to be checked. If the car makes strong squeal, the drive belt on the
power steering unit should be checked. If the car shimmies, then the tire pressure
should be checked for any damages. If the car leans hard in corners, the stabilizer
and struts should be checked for loose parts and wear. If the older car is difficult to
steer, then the steering... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jack up the car and place safety stands under the wheels. Replace the bushings by
removing the brackets holding the bar in place. Shock absorbers are installed inside
the coil spring at each wheel and can be replaced by removing the bolts at the top and
bottom that connect them to the suspension system. The manufacturer s instructions
have to be followed because shock absorbers and springs are under tension and can
cause injuries if improperly removed. Remove the fasteners at the top and bottom that
connect them to the suspension system. The car service manual will help in this.
Replace the strut as a unit. Many cars have upper and lower suspension arms
mounted on rubber bushings. For replacing them, loosen and remove a bolt on which
the bushing is

Current watches are highlights on SMS service, remote control and evaluate the
movements by internal accelerometer. One of the first smartwatches, with camera,
voice control an notifications. You can see you hav an email, but are able to read
it. The smartwatches on the other hand have taken to the next level where the
instantly viewable paradigm is used. The chance of misplacing the watches is also
very less when compared to that of the mobile phones and pagers as these smart
watches will be kept on the wrists. Despite of the different advantages offered by
smart watch technology, there are several challenges that must be addressed while
designing a smart watch technology. The design of the smart watch must be based
on the small screen where there is no space for the input devices or for the batteries.
The value provided to the smart watch platform mainly depends on the way of
identifying proper solutions to all these challenges. This report covers the main
technologies that are required while developing the smart watch. Along with these
technologies, the main challenges that haveto be addressed during the smart watch
design process are also covered. The new watch devices which are introduced in the
market do not support functions to estimating and evaluate personal activities in
terms of software and hardware. That s due to new watches needs pairing device to

St Patrick s Day Essay
10 Things You Did Not Know About St. Patrick s Day
St. Patrick s Day is a day where we celebrate the Irish heritage and it is often known
as the day when non Irish people are Irish for a day . For a lot of people it is an
excuse to have a good time and dress up in green clothes, drink green beer and drinks
or dress up like a full fledged leprechaun. Most people do not know the true
meaning of the day nor why more exactly it is celebrated. Here are ten things I bet
you didn t know about St. Patrick s Day.
March 17th The death day of Patrick
March 17th is the day when Patrick died. St. Patrick is a saint of the Catholic
Church and March 17th is his holy day; the day he died and went to heaven. He
spent his life converting pagans of Ireland ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patrick s Day has a strong political history
In the middle of the 19th century the Irish suffered from discrimination much like
that of the African Americans. In some cases the prejudice against the Irish was
fiercer even. The Irish immigrated in great numbers to the US and due to their
culture, Catholic faith and the poor conditions in Ireland they were considered to
be potentially disloyal and were thus treated very poorly. As a way to battle this
they began organizing themselves politically and by the end of the 19th century
St. Patrick s Day was a grand holiday for the Irish as well as a day for them to
demonstrate their political and social might. The political purpose of the holiday
faded along with the discrimination but to this day the holiday remains as a day full
of festivities for everyone regardless of one s cultural background.
Up until 1970 St Patrick s Day was a sober holiday in Ireland
The colour green and drinking are two to things most associated with St. Patrick s
Day however due to Irish law all the pubs were shut during that day. That meant
neither beer nor alcohol of any kind for the celebrants. The law was changed in 1970
when it was reclassified as a national holiday with all that

Demographic Data The data of this study revealed more patients were male 54.5%
than female 45.5% (Figure 1). Maximum 112 (23%) patients belonged to 20 31 year
age group and minimum 50 (10%) were from 0 10 year age group (Figure 2).
Pattern of Microbial Growth with sample Altogether 488 samples were collected
from admitted patients. Of them, 267 (54.8%) showed positive growth and rest of
them showed no growth (Figure 3). From the positive growth, 226 (85%) were
Gram positive and 41 (15%) were Gram negative isolates (Figure 4).
Distribution of samples with Staphylococcus aureus isolates Isolates were obtained
from wide variety of clinical specimens. The highest number of isolates were from
throat swab samples i.e. 104 (49.5%) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DISCUSSION
The data presented in the study showed trends in antibiotic resistance patterns of
methicillin resistant and methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus in KYAMCH at
Enayetpur, Sirajgonj, teaching and referral hospital of Bangladesh.
Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the major pathogens
associated with community acquired serious nosocomial infection because these
strains generally show multiple drug resistance which limits treatment possibilities
(7).
In this study, the isolation rate of MRSA on gender basis revealed more from male
(54.5%) than female (45.5%). Persons younger than 30 years of age were found to
be more MRSA carrier 112 (23%) and less found among below 10 years of age 50
(10%) (Figure 2). Our age and gender based findings did not agree with those
findings obtained by other studies where no significant variations were noticed. (8).
Population of this study is villagers of working group (30 years) who are financially
important. Through medical care they became subject of this study. On the contrary,
other studies are carried out in the city where all residents irrespective of gender and
age are equally receiving medical care.
In our study, the highest number of Staphylococcus aureus isolates were from
throat swab samples 104 (49.5%) followed by pus 44 (20.9%) (Figure 5 a). Similar
study of Tamilnadu in India as high as 35.7% of MRSA strains were obtained from
throat swabs and 33.6% of strains were
1.According To Industry Analysts, Acquisition Can Increase
1.According to industry analysts, acquisition can increase the company s global
footprint, which means it can achieve publicity on an international scale. It is
conducive for Tata to increase the company s business diversity across markets and
product segments, which brings Tata advanced technology, low cost engineering and
design to the industry. Based on Market analyses, acquisition is a fast way to bring
the brand into a new market. The competitive advantage was the main supplier of
automotive high grade steel to JLR and other automobile industries in the US and
Europe. Jaguar s vehicles are high profit margins in case they can offer a range of
Luxury vehicles to broaden the brand portfolio internationally.
2.The key issue in this case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides, from the experience the Nano has in the India market, we can clearly see
the pros and cons that fit with customers needs. But, there may be threats that come
from strong competitors like BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes. It is undeniable that the
weakness of brand image for Tata and new products and market buildings are also
big problems. The cons for Tata are challenges from other competitors since they
share the risk with each other and unclearly market shares. The last action Tata may
choose is complementary strategic. Tata can grow a competitive advantage if they
purchase Jaguar and Land Rover. The pro in this situation is that it can bring the well
known brands emerging in the Indian car market an opportunity. Admittedly that
offers Tata a high certification across the global market within a brief period. The
cons may have is partners fail to use their resources in the market or inadequate
contracts unsure creating value chain.
4. I think the diversifying strategic alliance is the best option for Tata, because we
know in a long way Tata Motorswere highly dependent on Indian markets. So in
that way, it will be less dependent on the Indian market. As a key to acquisition, if
Tata purchase Jaguar and Land Rover, it can bring separate market share reputation
and more. In this case, Tata can avoid the damage to brand image. Besides, Jaguar
and Land Rover both can increase the design services and sourcing like low cost

  • 2. Descartes Meditations Essay Descartes Meditations In Descartes meditations, Descartes begins what Bernard Williams has called the project of pure enquiry to discover an indubitable premise or foundation to base his knowledge on, by subjecting everything to a kind of scepticism now known as Cartesian doubt. This is known as foundationalism, where a philosopher basis all epistemological knowledge on an indubitable premise. Within meditation one Descartes subjects all of his beliefs regarding sensory data and even existence to the strongest and most hyperbolic of doubts. He invokes the notion of the all powerful, malign demon who could be deceiving him regarding sensory experience and even his understanding of the simplest mathematical and logical truths in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Human beings are capable of simultaneous thought, this is best illustrated when a person is dreaming as the person will be receiving sensory data from both the external world and from the dream therefore the human is thinking on more than one level at a time which could result in there being two existence s. A further Cartesian response could be that the level of thought or the amount of thought is irrelevant, all that is important is that the thought is being generated by the one individual, therefore it is the one individual that exists. It is seemingly impossible to criticise the cogito argument as every time it is presented to our mind we are forced to assent to it, it may be the case that this argument is infallible or at least indubitable, Descartes therefore has convincingly overcome his doubt of his own existence. Now that Descartes realised that he was a thinking being he focused his efforts on trying to prove the existence of God for this Descartes has two arguments based on a priori reasoning, the Ontological argument and the Trademark argument. Descartes first argument for the existence of God is known as the Trademark argument. The argument states that we all have the idea of God in our head ( ...there is a real and positive idea of God or of a Being of supreme perfection to my mind... ) as we are not able to

Cassius and Brutus were the two main conspirators against Caesar, and Brutus was even the one who assassinated him. Unlike the two of them, Marcus Antonius, Mark Antony, was one of Caesar s right hand men and won many battles for him, including one against Cassius. While Brutus and Cassius were at the head of the freight train that was headed for Caesar, Antony stood firm, however helpless it seemed, with Caesar until they failed on March 15, 44 BC when Caesar was killed. The two traveled to Greece where they were assigned provinces in the east by the senate. Slowly they took over all of the land east of Rome (that means the armies and the treasuries). Brutus took all of the wealth he had and turned it into Roman gold/silver coins which he imprinted his face on. In the latter half of 42 BC, Brutus and Cassius fought Mark Antony and Octavian (later emperor Augustus) in two battles near Philippi, Greece. Cassius had his freedman kill

Do you believe the locals are actually doing this or do you believe the Allisons are simply paranoid and imagining this? Please respond in a concise, well written three paragraph essay with specific examples and textual evidence from the text to support your answer. In Shirley Jackson s short story, The SummerPeople the Allisons decided to stay at their summer cottage past labor day. This decision, however may not have been for the best. After making this decision the Allisons began to become paranoid as things started to not go their way. First of all the townspeople began to question them as to why they wanted to stay. They informed them that no one had ever stayed past Labor Day. The Allisons also had to deal with the fact they could no longer buy kerosene or have their groceries delivered as they had during the summer months. They also received an interesting letter from their son that left them feeling confused and a bit concerned because it did not sound like their son s writing. Lastly they had things in their house that were braking such as their phone. Their car also had somehow broken and was no longer functioning. All of these occurrences startled the Allison. It was a time of the revitalization of antiquity, breakthrough scientific discoveries, and profound, inspirational artwork. The desire and urge to establish stronger connections with the classical past brought about the search and discovery of many ancient manuscripts and artworks. One of the most celebrated discoveries occurred during the height of the Renaissance: The Laocoon. Perhaps one of the world s most famous Hellenistic sculptures, it was originally located in the palace of Titus. It was then lost for over a thousand years before its rediscovery in 1506. The Trojans accepted the gift, and at night, the Greeks slipped out of the horse and opened the city, which led to the fall of Troy. Laocoon was a high priest of Troy who warned against accepting the wooden horse. Frustrated that the Trojans were ignoring his warnings, Laocoon threw a spear at the giant wooden horse, and spurned the rage of Poseidon (who, along with the other Gods favored the Greeks) to send giant sea serpents to strangle him. One of the major significances of the Laocoon Group was the timing and effect of its celebrated discovery. Prior to its discovery, the only known records of its existence were from ancient manuscripts and records by Pliny the Elder. Buried underground for over a millennium, the Laocoon Group emerged once again after its discovery near the baths of Titus in 1506. This was during the height of the Renaissance, an era of the revitalization of the classics. Due to the strong desire to possess the great works of antiquity, its discovery was an immediate success. So, they mined coal that was closer to the surface by using mountaintop removal. This resulted in a decrease in jobs for miners because this was a much easier and efficient way of removing coal. This therefore supports my previous discussion that black people could contribute to society and live normal lives without white people diminishing their human rights and privileges and making them slaves. Douglass got his passion to promote freedom for all slaves after he escaped from slavery and ultimately had an end goal to abolish slavery in all its forms and aspects, and promote the moral and intellectual improvement of the coloured people and hasten the day of freedom to the three million of enslaved fellow countrymen . He also wrote several autobiographies describing his experiences as a slave. One of the autobiographies in particular, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave published in 1845 was a best selling and was extremely influential for promoting the cause of abolition. Introduction Organic dairy farming is the process of raising animals on organic feed (i.e. pastures cultivated without the use of non organic fertilisers or pesticides), the animals having access to pasture or the outside, along with the restricted usage of antibiotics and hormones (Oruganti, 2011). Organic dairying is a rapidly growing industry in New Zealand, with ever increasing demands placed on its supply chain. Organic dairy exports have nearly doubled in value from 2012 to 2015. In 2012 exports were valued at $36,950,000, and in 2015 exports were valued at $68,290,000 (Organics Aotearoa New Zealand, 2016). The main aim of organic farmers and the industry as a whole is to enhance biological diversity within the system, increase soil biological activity and maintain long term soil fertility (AsureQuality, 2016). As part of our research we partook in a farm visit and discussion with Manawatu organic dairy farmers Cathy and Jamie Tait Jamieson, who have created a leading organic label; BioFarm. Cathy expressed her views of the current status of the domestic industry. I picked up the game when I was in the first grade and still find myself playing it whenever I get the chance. Nowadays, there seems to be a lack of parks and such for people to go to and have some fun with others. Streetball has made its own culture and kids grow up idolizing older players that are out on the courts making the gamelook so enjoyable. With that being said, it is in my firm belief that outdoor basketballcourts are an essential part of communities and need to be given more attention because they are great places for kids to go and play and stay out of trouble while being in touch with their surroundings. Most players began playing basketball as compared to other sports because it was easily accessible and relatively cheap with basically everything provided when going to a local court. I was not surprised to find that one of my favorite basketball players of all time was a streetballer. He was a troublemaker, and was previously sentenced to serve fifteen years in prison but managed to turn himself around with the game of basketball. Allen Iverson spent his days at the park working on his lethal crossover that would one day even make Michael Jordan look silly. Those days spent at the court led him to a full scholarship to attend Georgetown, in which he later entered the NBA Draft after his sophomore year, and ended up being selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Not only did Allen Iverson change the NBA because of streetball. There is also Stephon Marbury, Jason White Chocolate Williams, and Jamal Crawford (Walter). They all are scrappy and flashy players which helped bring some toughness and excitement back to the NBA. If it were not for the parks out there allowing these players to pick up the game, they may have went a different way in life and been stuck in their slums. A twenty dollar basketball and a place for them to go and use it got them to the point where they are making a career out of it. Given those previous players making a name for themselves on the courts, why
  • 26. Importance Of Nazi Propaganda Propaganda was the central instrument acquiring and maintaining the power of Nazi Germany. All of the success can be attributed to propaganda. Propaganda is the information, ideas, opinions, or images that are broadcast, published, or in some other way spread with the intention of influencing public opinion. This was the most effective method the Nazis used to persuade thousands of people about their ideologies. Jewish people, African Germans, LGBT people, Roma, and others were portrayed as undesirable by Nazi propaganda. It used newspaper cartoons, films, books, radio, and posters in their effort to dehumanize Jewish people. The purpose of Nazi propaganda was to convince members of the public who had not yet been convinced of the importance of Hitler s racial policies and to inspire those who already agreed with him. Words and expressions with generally neutral and/or positive meanings were used to disguise acts of terror and destruction. Nazi Germanycould be never rich success without propaganda. Head of Nazi propaganda Hitler knew very well the value of good propaganda and he appointed Joseph Goebbels as head of propaganda. Paul Joseph Goebbels was Minister of Propaganda from 1933 to 1945. He was one of the closest friends of Hitler. Goebbels was responsible for presenting a favorable image of the Nazi regime to the German public. In 1933, Goebbels created the Reich Chamber of Commerce which was responsible to deal with literature, art, music, radio, film, newspapers

Morte D Arthur s Supernatural Aspects In The Day Of Destiny Supernatural Aspects in Arthurian Legend Le Morte d Arthur is just a short part taken out of the story The Day of Destiny written by Sir Thomas Malory but retold by Keith Baines. In Le Morte d Arthur Baines seems to portray a lot of supernatural aspects in King Arthur s actions and decisions because it was a very common theme in literature of the Middle Ages. Supernatural events and miracles were very common back in middle age literature. Most of the time supernatural events were used for two purposes, which were to either promote Christianity by having miracles come true, punishing people in a very mystical way, or it was added into literature just for entertainment (Richey). In Arthurian legend the story would not been the same without the help received from Arthur s magical efforts from the Lady of the Lake, Merlin, and Morgan Le Fay, Arthur s evil half sister, whose magic was added just for the use of entertainment. Central Theme Of Polygamy In Obanua Close to the truth is the fact that there are several indications in the novels which are deliberate efforts of the author, no doubt which point at the cultural coexistence of modernity and tradition with which we are concerned. Of course, these indications are linked to the authorial intent of the novel which we find can be similar to subtly providing the pieces to a puzzle. Therefore, in their own right, these indications serve the purpose of making us see . In a sense, there is almost no way for us to discuss tradition and modernity with respect to the novel without in some way tackling the pivotal and central theme of polygamy, which, we will find, can actually augment the profundity of the topic at hand, and more so, since the central theme of polygamy is the harbinger of the situation that we find in the novel. It all begins with Obanua s decision that he wanted a second wife (The Victims 4). This is the ultimate harbinger, for it sets in motion a series of disastrous events with incendiary consequences. The fatal error in this decision is that Obanua doesn t consider his financial and economic status before actualizing the decision. The question therefore is that is he so daft that he cannot weigh his decision upon the scale of reason? Something must be the source of his pathological desire for a second wife when he is fully aware that he can barely provide for his current family. Guilty of pushing Obanua to make the grand mistake that he does is none other than

Kevin Spacey plays the role of Lester Burnham, a suburban father and who is tired of his boring job and family. Within the film are many themes, the most important of these being lust and beauty. The film applies many visual effects to demonstrate the overall desired tone, and helps to implicitly present a false sense of the american dream . American Beauty demonstrates a clear presentation of longing within relationships or lifestyles, and uses filming techniques to imply these hidden themes. The main theme demonstrated throughout the film is seeming, and how it relates to true nature. Each character within the film shows an awareness of the struggles seeming brings, and eventually confronts it. Carolyn is the prime example, as constantly within the film she struggles to progress within her career and attempts to be happy in doing so. This is shown in the scene where she attempts to sell a house, fails to do so, and physically abuses herself as punishment. Colonel Fitts (Ricky s father) also struggles with appearance, as he constantly tells Ricky homosexuality is disgusting, and nearing the end of the film we find Fitts is homosexual himself. This challenges his interpretation of masculinity and what he has believed his entire life. A huge element

There appeared to be little hope to maintain collegiate sports until Theodore Roosevelt stepped in in 1906. Theodore Roosevelt, an unabashed fan of the sport, gathered 13 football representatives at the White House for two meetings at which those in attendance agreed on reforms to improve safety. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the major pathogens associated with community acquired serious nosocomial infection because these strains generally show multiple drug resistance which limits treatment possibilities (7). In this study, the isolation rate of MRSA on gender basis revealed more from male (54.5%) than female (45.5%). Persons younger than 30 years of age were found to be more MRSA carrier 112 (23%) and less found among below 10 years of age 50 (10%) (Figure 2).
