Good Essay Vocabulary
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Good Essay Vocabulary" can be a challenging endeavor. The
difficulty lies not only in the need for a comprehensive understanding of vocabulary but also in
the nuanced skill of employing it effectively to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
Firstly, one must delve into the vast pool of words available in the English language, selecting
those that not only fit the context but also elevate the quality of expression. Striking the right
balance between simplicity and sophistication is crucial to ensure that the essay is accessible to a
broad audience while still showcasing a rich vocabulary.
Moreover, mastering the art of seamless integration of diverse words into coherent sentences is
no small feat. It requires a keen sense of linguistic rhythm and flow to prevent the essay from
feeling disjointed or forced. Each word should serve a purpose, contributing to the overall clarity
and impact of the message.
In addition, the challenge extends to avoiding redundancy and clichГ©s, as relying on common
phrases can dilute the essay's uniqueness and fail to captivate the reader. A constant struggle
against repetitiveness and a commitment to exploring alternative expressions are essential aspects
of this writing task.
Furthermore, the essay's success depends on the writer's ability to contextualize sophisticated
vocabulary within the subject matter. The inclusion of apt terminology should enhance the
understanding of the topic rather than confuse the reader. Striking this delicate balance requires
a profound understanding of the subject matter and a keen awareness of the target audience.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Good Essay Vocabulary" demands a meticulous approach to
language, a nuanced understanding of the topic, and the ability to engage the reader effectively.
It is an endeavor that challenges one's linguistic dexterity and cognitive finesse. For those
seeking assistance with similar essays or a variety of writing tasks, a resource like

Life Events In My Life
My life events
I had many good and bad thing happen to me in my life and even to this day, but
today I will only be talking about the positive and fun moments or events that I had
with friends or family. I have a great deal of friends throughout my life that I m
proud of. I had and a lot of fun moments with them. Same thing goes with all my
family and relatives that I love very much and are all fun to be with too. I had this
one very fun time at school way back in Nanaimo where my friend and I got dared
by another friend to jump off a swing. It was high up and we had to do a 360 no
scope. While I succeeded, my friend Chase failed and flopped down like a plane
crashing. There was also this time in Nanaimo, where my friend Jessy had a
birthday and he invited me to his party. We watched movies, ate pizza and popcorn.
We even went as far as spraying each other with a team water gun battle. Chase was
one of the captains and Jesse was the other team captain to pick the team players.
The party was a great old time. Now we move on to when I was very young and still
pretty small. I was in Toronto and in a small town called new market. I had my
best friend their named Vishal that we went together every day to school. We had
playdates where we would play PokГ©mon games on our DS s and played soccer
outside beside his garage. He had a brother also and we would like to play on my
PSP multiplayer games all together with his brother. I had a lot of fun moments with
Vishal like
The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordechai Richler
Mordecai Richler(January 27, 1931 July 3, 2001) was a Canadian author,
screenwriter and essayist. He wrote a lot essays about the Jewish community in
Canada, and about nationalism as practised by Canadian anglophones and the
francophone QuГ©bГ©cois in addition to his fiction. The Apprenticeship of Duddy
Kravitz (1959) was one of his best works. Like Duddy in the novel, Mordecai Richler
came to Canada as a Jewish immigrant during the times when English was the only
official language in Canada (even in Quebec) and grew up in the large Jewish
communities while facing the difficulties like anti semitism and segregation. He
acquired English as his second language after Yiddish and not French for the same
reason. He grew up on St. Urbain Street in the Mile End area of Montreal like
Duddy who grew up in the neighbourhood of Montreal east of Mount Royal Park on
and about St. Urbain Street and Saint Laurent Boulevard (in the poor areas of
Montreal where the Jewish communities were located) and moved to Paris, France
for some time at the age of nineteen where his work as a successful writer
began(like Duddy, who went to the Laurentian Mountains for a summer job and
found his career or aim in life even though he didn t settle there). His writings are
from a time when Montreal was divided into sections and communities based on
religion, race and class and his main character Duddy, who s very similar to him, is
from the same time. He displays the coming of age in his life as an outsider
Balanchine Biography
In 1904 when Georgi Melitonovitch Balanchivadze was born in Saint Petersburg,
Russia, the world had no idea of the ballet master mind that was going to be
introduced 10 years later. Balanchine started dancing at the Imperial School of
Theater and Ballet (Or as it is more well known, the Kirov Academy) in 1914,
much to his dismay. As a young boy Balanchine had wished to become a naval
officer or a priest, it had not been his wish to dance, he ended up in the school by
mere chance. His sister, however, did not get accepted. Alone in the school
Balanchine had to pick up skills quickly, early on in his life he had grown
accustomed to listening and playing music. Other students would often ask him to
accompany their choreography as he was incredibly... Show more content on

However, his costumes continued to be on the side of basic, mostly just bedazzled
practice gear if you must. He liked simplicity and would often be happy with the
dancers in their basic black leotards with a skirt, which is still shown in many of
his pieces today. However, one vital piece of information that is still seen with in
his dances today is that he truly focused on the female dancers. He believed that
ballet should be focused almost inclusively on the female dancers. While he
wanted his male dancers to be strong and vocal points at times he would often put
more emphasis on the female dancers, requiring them to have high levels of
stamina and tolerance for pain. At age 79, 4 wives and over 400 pieces of
choreography later, Balanchine left us as legacy in 1983. When he died, he did not
think that his dances would last, he thought they would be fleeting and short lived,
however, 33 years later, I do believe we had proved that wrong. With the assistance
of videos, the Balanchine Trust and his former dancers dozens of his dances carry on
Examples Of Foreshadowing In Esmeralda Santiago
The quote I push my cart away, toward the apples and pears of my adulthood, their
nearly seedless ripeness predictable and bittersweet. , foreshadows the life of
Esmeralda as young child and how she grows into young adult taking on
responsibilities and the hardships that are involved with it. This quote also tells the
readers that her adulthood is rapidly approaching and she will soon leave behind
what she has loved for so long and become a new woman experiencing a new
adventure. Throughout the book, it is relevant that the use of foreshadowing is used.
One of the many ways Santiago does this the short poems written in the beginning of
each chapter, they can give a reader an idea of the what the chapters will be about and
the thoughts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Esmeralda Santiago did an outstanding job creating multiple themes that brought
the book all together and gave it a deeper meaning. One theme that I felt occurred
the most often throughout the book was coming of age. But it seemed to be more
than that, what I discovered that one theme was the development of a young girl
to a woman, and also truths being revealed about yourself and finding out who you
are as a person. The author depicts this theme throughout the book my telling us
readers what Esmeralda, Negi, was thinking about a certain situation and how she
felt about it. The author also does a great job of incorporating this theme in the
memoir by showing at the end of the book how much Negi has gone through and
how she has learned and grown from the experience. The characters and settings
that are in the book are used to develop the theme by creating events in the settings
that the characters, Esmeralda and her family, have to assess, react, and learn and
develop from what happened. This is what, to me made the book so interesting
and added to depth to what the author was trying to say. The theme in the book has
definitely impacted me in some way. It made me realize that there are going to be
difficult times in my life, but you can conquer them with persistence and passion.
Also if you are perceived as small, weak, helpless, prove everyone wrong and show
them what you can do. Be the best that you can be and that is all you can do in life.

1984 Doublethink Analysis
The Role of Doublethink in The Government of 1984 War is peace. Freedom is
slavery. Ignorance is strength, . The following quote originates from the infamous
novel, 1984 by George Orwell. The significance of this popular quote was to display
an example of the action of doublethink. Doublethink is the act of having two
contradictory thoughts at the same time and believing both are true. Doublethink
plays an influential role in the novel, 1984. The novel takes place in a super state by
the name of Oceania which covers the entire continents of our America in reality. The
main character of this novel is Winston Smith, a thirty nine year old Party member
who works at the Ministry of Truth correcting errors in past publication who has a...

For the Party, the past not fixed and permanent; its reality is evident only in records,
(Becnel 11). Throughout the novel, it was often mentioned that the Party hired
workers such as the main protagonist, Winston, to alter history the way they wanted
it. If the Party has control over what was written down in history, they can easily
manipulate their citizens to believe anything that they claim is true. This ability of
control over history has also opened up the opportunity to alter the memories of the
citizens of Oceania. Being able to control the memories of the people and causing
them to believe one thing and another is an example of doublethink. The Party used
doublethink in order to increase and strengthen their power over the citizens. Power
is also a factor that revolves around the action of doublethink. Becnel mentions the
importance of doublethink and power in his critic upon the novel, Doublethink is the
foundation on which the Party s power rests, (Becnel 11). Becnel s claim basically
states that in order to maintain and strengthen their power, the Party must resort to
doublethink in order to have better control of their citizens. Although the Party has
taken actions such as altering history and having a great amount of control over the
people to express doublethink, they have also done expressed doublethink in

3.What do you understand by the term cognition ? Discuss how caregivers can
promote cognitive development of children during the first six years of life.
Cognition deals with the development of thought. It is mncerned with how children
and adults understand the world around them.
Caregivers must channelize the child s initiative towards constructive ends, which
will help her to develop self confidence.
The caregivers have to teach the child self control and limits of her behaviour but
they have to do so without curbing her initiative. If something must not be done, they
must explain to the child why it is so, instead of simply restricting her actions.
It would be more useful if caregivers inculcate desirable social values, without being
overly concerned about whether the values are conventionally masculine or feminine.
Affection oriented techniques, which rely on reasoning with the child to foster the
desired behaviour and appeal to the child s sense of responsibility, have a beneficial
impact, while power oriented techniques, which rely on threatening the child or
withholding privileges without explanation, can be harmful.
The affection oriented way of disciplining is more effective in
Essay On Marwaris
In shaping the history of India, the Marwaris had made a large impact. Even up until
today, this business group is the most popular when business class is mentioned.
However, their history brings them back long ago, since the 19th century, where they
start moving around. Marwaris is definitely the most economically powerful
community in all of India. They went from traders to industrialists, with religious
reliefs as a contributing factor to their success as well.
Starting from the 1813, Charter Act of the British East India Company was renewed
and it abolished the monopoly of trade with India. This means that India was opened
up to private investments now. Therefore, many British trading companies
established in Bombay and Calcutta. However, the British lacked an intermediary in
the area. To sell their goods from England as well as getting raw materials from rural
areas, the British needed an extensive number of local agents to help them. This is

early Marwaris migrants helped the latter ones to enter behind them. Thus, the
existence of great firms such as Tarachand Ghanshyamdas, founded by the Poddar of
Ramghar, and Sevaram Ramrikhadas, founded by the Singhania family, was a critical
element in enabling the migration of the Marwaris. From being the employees of the
jute firms, the Marwaris bought over the stocks the many jute firms, which were

floated shares to build new jute mills and other companies. Due to the
oversubscription and stock exchange regulations, the Marwaris were able to control a
mill even if they own less than 10 to 20 percent of the shares. This led them in

Geostatistical Interpolation For Spatial Data
Geostatistical Interpolation for Spatial Data
Abstract: Continuous surfaces of rainfall climate variable are becoming increasingly
used as input to spatially explicit atmospheric ,hydrologic ,ecologic and
environmental models. Several methodologies exist for spatial interpolation of
climate and weather parameters, among them is the ordinary kriging method .A large
sampling effort is required to produce an accurate geostatistical map, and the
extraction and analysis of each sample is often expensive, The effectiveness of a
particular sampling scheme is dependent upon the spatial variability of the quantity
being measured .In this paper ,we used the ordinary kriging method to estimate the
rainfall distribution in Iraq. A total of 24 real points are used for evaluation. The
results presents samples of maps for months January, October, March for years 2004,

Introduction: Rainfall is an important climatological parameter, and knowledge of its
temporal and spatial patterns is useful for researchers working in many disciplines, In
this study , spatial interpolation techniques were implemented in a Geographic
Information System (GIS) to study the spatial variability of monthly rainfall in Iraq.
Ten years (2003 2013) of climate data ( average monthly rainfall )from 24 weather
stations distributed throughout Iraq were used in the analyses. Literature suggests

What Is The Tone Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Being born of a German immigrant, Sylvia Plath shares an eye opening poem right
before she ended her life in 1963. On October 12th, 1962, Plath wrote a poem called
Daddy. In this poem, she portrays a speaker that expresses numerous feelings of hate
and fear. Though most might think this word actually means father, in German daddy
means oh you . Nevertheless, this poem relates to a person or father. After reading
further, one might notice that she references Natzi s and Jew s, and uses many
comparisons to explain her feelings and the type of person this individual was. The
speaker in this story presents that she is captured in a life that she never thought she
would live through. Not only does she feel she is less important in the eyes of
another person, it leaves an everlasting effect on her life. The most unequivocal
message is hatred in SylviaPlath s poem Daddy to emphasize the hardships and
challenges she goes through.
In the beginning of Daddy , the speaker sets an intense tone to demonstrate how she

person when she states, I tried to die (58) and get back, back, back to you. (60).
Probably so used to the life she did not know any better and needed to be around
them. Then a reversal in tone signifies that a change in heart came when she says, I
m finally through (68). The speaker expresses that she finally accepts what she was
put through. To end the poem she lets out all of the anger that has been kept by
finalizing that there is a stake in your fat black heart (86) and they are dancing and
stamping on you (88). The speaker lets us in on the knowledge that she was not
alone, and there are others that would agree with her. The ending tone of that line
lets out a sign of relief and signifies that she is through with all of the hatred she had
Cultural Imperialism And Globalization
Globalisation is the process of interconnectedness and the integration of national and
regional culture, economies, and society through the global network of
communication, immigration, transportation and trade (Financial Times Lexicon,
2017). According to Reiche (2014), globalisation did not mean much in the past fifty
years. It could be primarily focused on the trade and also foreign direct investment
which are the economic side of the world but it has been expanded to a broader range
which including media, culture, technology, trades and political factors nowadays.
Although globalisation is considered as a wide range nowadays, it still can be
classified as four main characteristics which are stretched social relations,
intensification of flows, increasing interpenetration, and global infrastructure (Held,
2004). However, cultural imperialism has the most typical impacts on globalisation.
This essay will define and explain cultural imperialism and its impact from the
pessimistic globalist and transformationalist perspective.
Cultural imperialism, the main focus of globalisation is defined as the domination of
culture from some countries to the rest of the world (Tobin, 2016). It could be the
cultural goods flow to the other countries, normally from the more influential or
stronger countries such as the United States and some Western countries which
inculcating their values through the goods or advertisements. For instance, the origin

Symptoms And Treatment Of Parkinson s Disease
Your 35 year old spouse has been diagnosed with Parkinson s Disease . These
words hit home when dealing with a spouse. Question s start to fly with what
Parkinson s disease really entails. Like any other disease, each case is different
from the next, but it all comes down to a gradual decrease in the range of muscle
movement. When diagnosed, patients with PD have already lost and are still loosing
nerve cells that produce dopamine and since dopamine helps control the movement
of muscles it hinders the ability to regulate more and more movement over time.
Parkinson s disease is not just a gradual decrease in the range of muscle movement; it
also creates problems with non motor abilities. It creates symptoms of poor sleep,

And ultimately, will Parkinson s disease speed up time in a sense of the grim reaper
coming much faster than wanted or expected before the diagnostic of having

outcomes for a person with Parkinson s Disease. In a situation like this a case study
was performed with a psychologist and a wife of a 35 year old man who was just
diagnosed with Parkinson s disease. The actions of the wife and her children are
recorded for researching purposes: The psychologist meets the wife and kids for the
first time. The wife tells the psychologist their situation, My 35 year old husband has
just been diagnosed with Parkinson s disease and I have no idea on what to expect,
do, or how to handle it. The psychologist proceeds to inform the wife and her
children about how, in time, the husband s movement of his head to his feet will
ceased to control them. Also the psychologist states that she will not be able to
predict the future events that will occur, but she will be able to help cope with the
difficulties they may face and develop coping strategies that are suitable for them as a
family. With that incite in fresh in their minds they make another appointment. The
psychologist and the family meet again, this time the husband is starting to show

The biggest one is that Rufus from the book looked more like a lion. rather like an
old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy

course, there are a lot of resemblences or differences like Luna Lovegood s dirty

to resume the most important ones from my point of view. The Harry Potter
Universe is very important for me because it represents a very big part of my
childhood and adolescence. Now, re reading the books and re watching the movies I
observe things from another perspective, things that evey human being struggles with
day by day, fears that we need to face and societies where we need to fit in. In
conclusion, there are a lot of particularities that are different in movies or books, but
the most important thing is the message that we understand. The message can be
understood only if both writer and director work together. The deeper understanding of
things stays in
Art Gallery At The Powerhouse Museum And The First
Emperor...
The 21st century has seen a dramatic increase in the challenges facing cultural
institutions, particularly museums. One of the most pressing issues currently facing
museums worldwide is the diminishing level of government support. Despite
reductions in government funding, the sustained maintenance of museumcollections
and facilities continues to require substantial resources. In the face of such
difficulties, a growing number of museums have turned to innovative programming,
specifically exhibitions, as a way to ensure financial viability through increased
attendance. Given the growing competition for consumer leisure time in today s
society, attention has shifted away from traditional scholarly collection based
exhibitions, towards the populist exhibition format offered by blockbuster
exhibitions. Through a discussion of Harry Potterв„ў: The Exhibition at the
Powerhouse Museum and the First Emperor: China s Entombed Warriors at the Art
Gallery of New South Wales, this essay will examine the two approaches museums
are taking to the blockbuster model. It will be argued that although exhibitions
reflecting popular culture are becoming increasingly more common, there are
institutions that manage to reflect popular taste in ways that continue to advance
scholarship and create opportunities for lifelong learning.
Museological literature offers many definitions of the blockbuster exhibition.
According to Elsen, a blockbuster is a large scale loan exhibition which people who
Speech On Education Is Emancipation
Education means emancipation , a quote by Frederick Douglas, a leader to many, in
order to inspire those lost and without hope of continuing their education, and finally
uplift them and illuminated their path to a road lit with knowledge and excellence.
The same determination has been inscribed to many parents in this country, so they
can guide their own children to this road. Their sacrifices were great ones, especially
if their children are first generation college students. For many, educationis not only a
direction to achieve excellence, but a form of gratitude to those who have sacrificed
a lot. It is important to inspire future leaders today, in order to build a better
tomorrow. In her commencement speech, Michelle Obama... Show more content on

that read, Only one of three African Americanstudents are dropping out of high

of her argument concerning the education of the African American youth. Obama
also points out the benefits of a higher education, noting that people who have at

American women and men with degrees live a respective six and a half and ten years

Furthermore, Obama provides emotional appeal where she mentions the success of

Medical Advancement Research Paper
From the beginning of time, science has played an enormous role in all civilizations.
Through a strong desire to understand how and why the world functions the way it
does, scientists have formulated countless theories, revelations, and developments to
ultimately advance and benefit mankind. Undeniably, these advancements have
drastically affected nearly every aspect of human life. Doctors have made thousands
of groundbreaking medical discoveries, meteorologists can more accurately predict
impending storms and weather disasters, and geologists understand the history of
Earth more than ever before. From a global standpoint, scientific findings have

One important medical discovery that has affected the lives of so many people is
insulin. First isolated by scientists from the University of Toronto, insulin is the life
saving hormone used to control blood sugar. For diabetics who are either missing
this hormone or unable to produce it in a way their body can regulate, the
development of artificial insulin was and continues to be transformative. The
discovery of insulin has meant the difference between life and death for many of
those suffering from diabetes and therefore, has largely advanced modern medicine as
well as affected the lives of countless diabetics and their loved ones. Another
substantial medical advancement that has become extraordinarily prominent is in
vitro fertilization. Initially introduced by Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards in the
1970s to treat female infertility caused by damaged or blocked fallopian tubes, in
vitro fertilization, or IVF, has given hope to millions of couples suffering from
infertility. This advancement has proven to be extremely important to many people,
especially to couples who wish to conceive their own children and experience

The Major Moral Problem That Human s Face Essay
Reading: Matthew 5 8, 19; Little, Naming Good and Evil, Catechism (para. 1700

According to Little, what is the major moral problem that human s face?
According to Joyce A. Little, the major moral problem that human s face is that
when people attempt to agree upon attacking evil, their different opinions separate
their views on identifying exactly what should be right? Little expresses the
problem as we cannot agree on what would be right or good for society...by people

is our true source of knowledge of good and evil?
The true source of knowledge for most people is the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil. But to Joyce A. Little, it s not the knowledge in itself, but the quality of
being able to name something, which is the ability to learn about something in
order to label it. So in other words, according to Little, the knowledge of good and
evil is really the knowledge to label something as good or evil. She writes,
summarizing God s command to Adam and Eve, not to eat from the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, Do not claim the ability to name or to define what is
good and evil for yourselves, because you do not know enough about me to know
what you are supposed to do to be my image in the world. Only I know how I can
properly be imaged, and there only I can tell you what is good and evil for you (25).
The real sin of Eve and Adam was in claiming for themselves

Students At The University Of Alabama
The number of students attending the University of Alabama has reached a new high
of 37,100. That number is a 2.4% increase from 2014 (uanews.ua.edu). As the number
of students is predicted only to increase in the years to come, the University must
reflect on the housing options for these 37,100 students. Freshman students required
to live on campus face a difficult situation lack of housing. With that being said, the
best and most efficient way to cope with the ever growing population is to allow
freshmen to live off campus, and build more apartments around campus to allow
thousands of more students to have places to live in the future. Providing housing on
campus for nearly 8,000 freshman students is nearly impossible. The Presidential
Villages house 1,840 students. Blout, Bryant, Bryce Lawn, Burke, Friedman, The
Highlands, Lakeside, Parham, Paty, Ridgecrest, Riverside, Somerville, and Tutwiler
house roughly 5,000 more students. These freshman options barely fit the ever
growing number of new students coming to Alabama. The University of Alabama
board of trustees recently approved a $124 million dollar project to tear down and
rebuild Julia TutwilerDorms. The dorm currently houses 1,000 freshman girls. The
Tutwiler Dorms are due to be torn down at the end of the 2017 Spring Semester.
The new building is scheduled to be finished in 2020. The new building will include
a parking deck and be able to house almost 2,000 women. The board also approved of

Insanity In The Spire
William Golding s historical fiction novel, The Spire, illustrates the process of the
construction of a spire onto a cathedral, while also portraying Dean Jocelin s
descendance to insanity. The novel is set in the small town of Salisbury in
medieval England around the 14th century, and is based off of the real life
Salisbury Cathedral, which was also built in the same time period. Dean Jocelin,
the dean of the cathedral, claims he has a vision that was sent by God for him to
add a towering 400 feet spire onto the church. However, everyone around him Roger
Mason, who is the master builder, the workmen, and the townspeople all declare the
project impossible. Jocelin ignores them all and orders for the construction to
continue. One of Golding s
San Diego Convention Center s Strategic Approach For...
To get a sense of what is possible and perhaps even advisable in the sustainability
realm requires benchmarking against a set of companies that have taken a leadership
position on environmental or social issues or against an established set of
sustainability best practices. (Esty Simmons, 2011) Because the LEED certification
is the most popular certification amongst IAVM members including convention
center facilities, benchmarking and actively working to be certified using these
standards has been the San Diego Convention Center s strategic approach to
sustainability. This method provides a foundation for the San Diego Convention
Center to understand what is being done by competitors and what the key
performance indicators are of sustainability.
However, as mentioned before, sustainability includes the elements of economic,
social/cultural, and environmental sustainability. This report will therefore address
the LEED certification as well as the areas of economic and social/cultural
sustainability from the Green Globe certification. (Green Globe Certification, 2016)

There are seven areas which the LEED certification divides actionable steps. These

Comprehension And Responding For Literature
INTRODUCTION
Comprehension and responding to literature are used to help learners grasp the
concept of the information or text to make meaning. Allowing them to draw from
their prior knowledge eventually building on what they already know. As learners
read they should make meaning of the text, while the teachers encourage learners to
use various strategies along the way. With the educator observing and noting how the
learner is processing text, occasionally providing guidance in use of reading
strategies. According to Bainbridge Heydon( 2013, p. 277). However this paper
consist of choosing an appropriate book to conduct a read aloud, choosing two
comprehension strategies, reflecting on my teaching, saying why I chose the
strategies, describing the read aloud experience, saying how the responding to
literature went and explaining how the activity strengthen comprehension.
Comprehension and responding to literature is one method I believe that will assist
learners to gain more understand from the text they read. I was honored to carry out
this activity; the book that was used was The Prince and the Pauper Olmstead, Akib,
Twain (2007).This book contains various chapters; however, our focus was on the
first chapter. The story was very interesting and evoked curiosity, as I read aloud with
the child. Read aloud promotes various opportunities for learners to obtain positive
attitude toward books and reading, the understanding that written language is
Success And Success Of Success
Imagine walking down the street and seeing a pure white 2017 Mercedes Benz E
Class parked in front in of a large house. One thing that may enter your mind is that
whoever owns this must have money. You begin to wonder what he or she does
for a living. Looking at the house, then at the car you conclude that this person
must be famous; therefore, successful. As you stand there gawking at the house
and car someone exits the front door and you recognize it s your friend. Both of
you engage in conversation, and you re overly excited about this new car and
home and he just remains cool about it. To him the house is just a place to stay and
the car is just a thing to drive, but to you these things represent reaching a level of
success. What is success? Success is a term with many definitions. Webster s
dictionary defines success in four different ways: (1) the favorable or prosperous
termination of attempts or endeavors; (2) the attainment of wealth, position, honors
or the like; (3) a successful performance or achievement; and (4) a person or thing
that is successful. Despite the seeming clear definitions of the word, it s different for
each individual. However, out of the four meanings, many only associated the word
with definitionnumber two. Society says success is determined by how much
money one makes or the level of fame achieved. Although society equates power,
prestige, and wealth to success, there is a problem in society s view of success and

Essay On Harriet Tubman
Rather than remaining free in the safety of the North, Tubman decided that her
freedom had no meaning knowing that her family and her people were still
enslaved. She made it her mission to rescue the rest of her family from slavery
starting with her niece Kizzy, who was going to be sold to the South along with
her two small children. Her husband, a free man named John Bowley, contacted
Harriet, warning her of this troubling news and requested her help in rescuing his
wife and children. Harriet organized for her return to Maryland and was able to
help Bowley buy his wife s freedom. They were then brought to their refuge and
new home, Philadelphia. She then went back for her elderly parents and other
family members on the Eastern Shore and brought them to Canada, which had
abolished slavery for several years and was slowly becoming the home for several
hundreds of fugitive slaves. This was the first of many trips made by Harriet Tubman,
creating her reputation as the Moses of her people, leading them to the promised
land. During the span of her 10 year career on the Underground Railroad, she made
19 trips to the South and, never ran my train off the track and I never lost a
passenger (192). During this entire operation, Harriet Tubman s identity remained a
secret, being referred to by the alias Moses , and was never caught. Throughout these
years, Tubman was also able to develop relationships with many other important
abolitionist members of the Underground Railroad such
Mental Health Service Delivery Models
Mental health illness is related to a group of illness, anxiety and stress are the most
common health problems. Mental illness affects how a person feels, thinks, behaves,
and interacts with other people (Department of Health, 2007). Mental health service
delivery models in Australia has significantly changed from institutional care to the
community care setting (Frost et al., 2017). This easy will discuss about he changes

problems(Thornicroft et al,. 2016). Mentally ill people was at risk and considered as
criminals even they did not commit any crime and spend most of time in prisons

treat people with mental illness. Institutional mental health service was a threat to
patient s dignity. Violation of human rights, such as food, clothing result with the
hospitalization of mentally ill people with other serious conditions such as heart,

consumer participation for human right reform (Buckley, Brimson, Reyment, 2017).
The concept of community emerge as a constantly rapid change of deinstitutational

the mental health illness as other health illness. Community participation in mental
health begins with advocating the rights of mental population (Williams, Smith,

community, but homeless, eduction, employment, community inclusion and
acceptance was big issue. It recognizes government based, and community based care
is essential to reduce the stigma and its impact on the patients, their carers, families,

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Lo Essay
Louis XIV and Peter the Great
Both Louis XIV and Peter the Great were famous rulers of the late 17th early 18th
Centuries. Both took the throne at a young age and both had many strengths and
weaknesses. Louis XIV had many strengths during his reign as ruler of France.
Appointing Jean Baptiste Colbert as his minister of finance made some of his greatest
strengths and accomplishments. One strength was that of mercantilism, which is an
economic theory under which a country increases its wealth by exporting more goods
than it imports. By accomplishing this, Louis XIV made himself and France very
wealthy. More wealth was made when a balance of trade brought more gold and
silver into France. A high tax was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He always demanded opera and made it popular. He was also the principal patron of
many famous artists, and brought their work into Versailles. His palace housed many
people, including 1,000 nobles and their 4,000 servants in the palace s 226 rooms.
Another 5,000 servants were housed in nearby annexes.
In addition to his strengths, Louis XIV had weaknesses. After Colbert died, Louis
made one mistake that undid all of his work. He revoked Edict of Nantes who
protected the religious freedom of the Huguenots. Instead of being imprisoned, more
than 200,000 Huguenots fled from France. The country lost many of its skilled
workers and business leaders. Louis XIV also fought many costly wars that caused
his people great suffering. Many of the wars left France on the brink of bankruptcy.
Peter the Great had many strengths, but his best was he modernized Russia. By
seeing Europe, he changed many things. He changed the calendar so the New Year
would be January 1. He increased agriculture by growing new crops and increased
the number of factories in Russia. He also started the first Russian newspaper and
enlarged their army to 200,000 men. He also got a warm water port for his window
on the sea.
A big weakness for Peter the Great was he ignored and abused the people of his
country. Many of the changes were for the sake of increasing his own power. He

Effects Of Mass Incarceration In The New Jim Crow
Introduction The United States is a divided country due to the injustice society and
unequal rights many African Americans still suffer through mass incarceration.
The novel, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness ,
focuses on the current problem of mass incarceration that many people are not
accepting of or pretend to be blind to. Due to the election of President Barrack
Obama, there was no longer an effort made towards the mass incarceration although
it is still occurring. Michelle Alexander, the author of the novel, believes that
Barrack Obama s presidential victory was a distraction from the severity of mass
incarceration. Michelle Alexander hopes this novel will shed light upon those who
are not aware of the problem of mass incarceration, as well as to offer support to
those currently incarcerated.
Background
The epidemic regarding racism is still an ongoing issue dating back to the colonial
period when African Americans were sold to owners as cheap labor which
resulted in the beginning of slavery. African Americans were placed at the bottom
of the racial caste system which was eventually replaced by Jim Crow. Jim Crow
may have replaced the word slavery but was very similar as blacks were still being
sold, owned and suppressed. The fact that some African Americans have experienced
great success in recent years does not mean that something akin to a racial caste
system no longer exists (Alexander, M. p.21, 2012). For example, during the
An American Artist And Member Of The Hudson River
School
Albert Bierstadt (1830 1902) was an American artist and member of the Hudson
River School. He was one of the first of the Hudson River Artist s to paint beyond
New York and see the unexplored west. Bierstadt s paintings focused more upon
the sublime in nature. His painting titled Indian Summer Hudson River was
completed in 1861. It is oil on canvas painting, which measures twenty four inches
in height by forty one inches wide. One looks out across a secluded section of the
Hudson River. It is late afternoon, and the sun is beginning its decent. The sun is
almost blinding; its rays glistening and reflecting upon the river turning its blues to
greens. The sky is clear with the exception of a few scattered clouds, which begin
to absorb the gold and reds of the setting sun, giving an almost hazy effect to the
end of this Indian summer day. On the far side of the river, a child helps his father
pull a small boat onto the bank, as a small group of cattle makes their way across
from the bank opposite them. The cattle move slowly and intently across the water,
drinking as they walk, enjoying the last moments of the day as they continue toward
the father and son. Two additional cows lounge on the cool earth beneath the trees
whose branches are scattered with the crimson and yellow orange colors of early
evening and that of fall. In analyzing Bierstadt s Indian Summer Hudson River , the
painting would be defined as an example of representational artwork. Bierstadt s

Lincoln and the Abolitionists Essay
LINCOLN AND THE ABOLITIONISTS
History records Abraham Lincoln as the Great Emancipator, yet ardent abolitionists of
his day such as William Lloyd Garrison viewed him with deep suspicion. That the
16th president eventually achieved the abolitionists most cherished dream, says
biographer Allen Guelzo, happened through a curious combination of political
maneuvering, personal conviction, and commitment to constitutional principle.
One of the ironies of the Civil War era and the end of slavery in the United States has
always been that the man who played the role of the Great Emancipator was so
hugely mistrusted and so energetically vilified by the party of abolition. Abraham
Lincoln, whatever his larger reputation as the liberator of two ... Show more content

Trumbull, and neither of them dared to sign that petition, to give me the right to
testify in a court of justice!... If we sent our children to school, Abraham Lincoln
would kick them out, in the name of Republicanism and anti slavery!
Lincoln s election did not mute abolitionist criticism. His unwillingness to use the
outbreak of the Civil War in the spring of 1861 as a pretext for immediate abolition
convinced William Lloyd Garrison that Lincoln was unwittingly helping to prolong
the war, and to render the result more and more doubtful! If he is 6 feet 4 inches
high, he is only a dwarf in mind! Garrison had never really believed that Lincoln s
Republicans had an issue with the South, and Lincoln himself did nothing once
elected to convince him otherwise. Frederick Douglass, who had parted fellowship
with Garrison over the issue of noninvolvement in politics, hoped for better from
Lincoln, but only seemed to get more disappointments. Lincoln s presidential
inaugural, with its promise not to interfere with southern slavery if the southern states
attempted no violent withdrawal from the Union, left Douglass with no very hopeful
impression of Lincoln. If anything, Lincoln had only confirmed Douglass s worst
fears, and he flayed Lincoln as an itinerant Colonization lecturer, showing all his
inconsistencies, his pride of race

Video-on Demand or VOD
Video on demand or VOD, a service that allows users to select and watch videos
over the internet, will be one of the greatest innovation as stated in the Netflix case
study. It will be a great opportunity for Netflix, but it will also be a challenge to
integrate or do away with its current business model. Its current business model is
one that relies on the internet and the post service to deliver DVDs to its
subscribers. Netflix should carefully enter the VOD market without doing away
with its current model. This will allow it to maintain its growing position as a giant
in this media industry. In order to better understand Netflix and the problems it
faces, we must first identify its strengths. What does Netflix offer its customers that
its competitors do not? What differentiates it from its competitors? First of all, it
offers a prepaid subscription service that allows customers to simply subscribe and
pay a fixed fee per month. This gives the customer the ability to rent unlimited
movies, something never heard of in this industry. In addition, customers are also
worry free about returning movies late since Netflix did away with all late fees. It
must also be stated that in contrast to other companies that offer subscription based
services, Netflix has made it relatively easy to unsubscribe from the packet or service
the customer has selected. One may think this is a poorly thought idea, but it has
helped customers return. These returning customers are satisfied and

Freezing Point Depression
Introduction:
The purpose of this lab experiment is to calculate the change in the freezing point of
cyclohexanol and a solution made with cyclohexanol to find the molar mass of the
unknown solute. The colligative properties of solutions are based on the
concentration of molecules rather than the identity of the chemical. Freezing point, a
colligative property of a solution, is constant in any substance and does not rely on
the amount given. For any solution composted of two or more components, there is
one solvent and one or more solutes. The major amount is the solvent and the minor
amounts are the solutes. When solutes are dissolved in solvents, the solution s
freezing point is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be accounted for in the sample of cyclohexanol. The experiment must have
had a contaminated sample of cyclohexanol, rather than a pure sample. This accounts
for the difference in the experimental values and the actual values.
Conclusion:
By demonstrating the application of a colligative property of a solution, the change
in freezing point observed between the cyclohexanol and the solution with the
cyclohexanol as the solvent can be used to calculate the unknown solute s molar
mass. The data in the lab was graphed and shown in the cooling curve. Bases off the
data on the graph, the freezing points are shown where the temperature remains
constant. Using the freezing points, the difference of freezing point was calculated.
The molality of solution was calculated in the lab using the molar mass of the
unknown solution from the given previous data. The data in the lab showed the
molar mass of the unknown solute to be off from the given molar mass in the lab.
This can be explained through contamination. Theoretically, it was learned that by
calculating the freezing point of an unknown substance, it can be identified. The lab
showed important techniques in using a graph

Why Did Jack The Ripper Happen
Jack the Ripper is a famous serial killer during the early 19th century of London.
Jack the Ripper is an interesting topic for me because of it s mystery and that most
people thought it was a myth. I also believed that Jack the Ripper truly exists which
brings me to have the interest to write this essay. Therefore, what led Jack the Ripper
to kill the various victims he did in early 19th century London? I believed that Jack
the ripper killed his victim due to the corruptness of early 19th century London. 19th

was no murder happened in London at all in 1887. Even his He committed these

because there were not many clues to lead the police to find the killer. This made

A Mixed economy employs features of both government/planned economy and a free

The difficulty lies not only in the need for a comprehensive understanding of vocabulary but also in the nuanced skill of employing it effectively to convey ideas clearly and persuasively. Firstly, one must delve into the vast pool of words available in the English language, selecting those that not only fit the context but also elevate the quality of expression. Striking the right balance between simplicity and sophistication is crucial to ensure that the essay is accessible to a broad audience while still showcasing a rich vocabulary. Moreover, mastering the art of seamless integration of diverse words into coherent sentences is no small feat. It requires a keen sense of linguistic rhythm and flow to prevent the essay from feeling disjointed or forced. Each word should serve a purpose, contributing to the overall clarity and impact of the message. In addition, the challenge extends to avoiding redundancy and clichГ©s, as relying on common phrases can dilute the essay's uniqueness and fail to captivate the reader. A constant struggle against repetitiveness and a commitment to exploring alternative expressions are essential aspects of this writing task. Furthermore, the essay's success depends on the writer's ability to contextualize sophisticated vocabulary within the subject matter. Life Events In My Life My life events I had many good and bad thing happen to me in my life and even to this day, but today I will only be talking about the positive and fun moments or events that I had with friends or family. I have a great deal of friends throughout my life that I m proud of. I had and a lot of fun moments with them. Same thing goes with all my family and relatives that I love very much and are all fun to be with too. I had this one very fun time at school way back in Nanaimo where my friend and I got dared by another friend to jump off a swing. It was high up and we had to do a 360 no scope. While I succeeded, my friend Chase failed and flopped down like a plane crashing. There was also this time in Nanaimo, where my friend Jessy had a birthday and he invited me to his party. We watched movies, ate pizza and popcorn. We even went as far as spraying each other with a team water gun battle. Chase was one of the captains and Jesse was the other team captain to pick the team players. The party was a great old time. Now we move on to when I was very young and still pretty small. I was in Toronto and in a small town called new market. I had my best friend their named Vishal that we went together every day to school. We had playdates where we would play PokГ©mon games on our DS s and played soccer outside beside his garage. He had a brother also and we would like to play on my PSP multiplayer games all together with his brother. I had a lot of fun moments with Vishal like
  • 6. The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordechai Richler Mordecai Richler(January 27, 1931 July 3, 2001) was a Canadian author, screenwriter and essayist. He wrote a lot essays about the Jewish community in Canada, and about nationalism as practised by Canadian anglophones and the francophone QuГ©bГ©cois in addition to his fiction. The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1959) was one of his best works. Like Duddy in the novel, Mordecai Richler came to Canada as a Jewish immigrant during the times when English was the only official language in Canada (even in Quebec) and grew up in the large Jewish communities while facing the difficulties like anti semitism and segregation. He acquired English as his second language after Yiddish and not French for the same reason. He grew up on St. Urbain Street in the Mile End area of Montreal like Duddy who grew up in the neighbourhood of Montreal east of Mount Royal Park on and about St. Urbain Street and Saint Laurent Boulevard (in the poor areas of Montreal where the Jewish communities were located) and moved to Paris, France for some time at the age of nineteen where his work as a successful writer began(like Duddy, who went to the Laurentian Mountains for a summer job and found his career or aim in life even though he didn t settle there). His writings are from a time when Montreal was divided into sections and communities based on religion, race and class and his main character Duddy, who s very similar to him, is from the same time. He displays the coming of age in his life as an outsider

Balanchine Biography In 1904 when Georgi Melitonovitch Balanchivadze was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, the world had no idea of the ballet master mind that was going to be introduced 10 years later. Balanchine started dancing at the Imperial School of Theater and Ballet (Or as it is more well known, the Kirov Academy) in 1914, much to his dismay. As a young boy Balanchine had wished to become a naval officer or a priest, it had not been his wish to dance, he ended up in the school by mere chance. His sister, however, did not get accepted. Alone in the school Balanchine had to pick up skills quickly, early on in his life he had grown accustomed to listening and playing music. However, his costumes continued to be on the side of basic, mostly just bedazzled practice gear if you must. He liked simplicity and would often be happy with the dancers in their basic black leotards with a skirt, which is still shown in many of his pieces today. However, one vital piece of information that is still seen with in his dances today is that he truly focused on the female dancers. He believed that ballet should be focused almost inclusively on the female dancers. While he wanted his male dancers to be strong and vocal points at times he would often put more emphasis on the female dancers, requiring them to have high levels of stamina and tolerance for pain. At age 79, 4 wives and over 400 pieces of choreography later, Balanchine left us as legacy in 1983. When he died, he did not think that his dances would last, he thought they would be fleeting and short lived, however, 33 years later, I do believe we had proved that wrong. With the assistance of videos, the Balanchine Trust and his former dancers dozens of his dances carry on

This quote also tells the readers that her adulthood is rapidly approaching and she will soon leave behind what she has loved for so long and become a new woman experiencing a new adventure. Throughout the book, it is relevant that the use of foreshadowing is used. One of the many ways Santiago does this the short poems written in the beginning of each chapter, they can give a reader an idea of the what the chapters will be about and the thoughts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Esmeralda Santiago did an outstanding job creating multiple themes that brought the book all together and gave it a deeper meaning. One theme that I felt occurred the most often throughout the book was coming of age. But it seemed to be more than that, what I discovered that one theme was the development of a young girl to a woman, and also truths being revealed about yourself and finding out who you are as a person. The author depicts this theme throughout the book my telling us readers what Esmeralda, Negi, was thinking about a certain situation and how she felt about it. The author also does a great job of incorporating this theme in the memoir by showing at the end of the book how much Negi has gone through and how she has learned and grown from the experience. The characters and settings that are in the book are used to develop the theme by creating events in the settings that the characters, Esmeralda and her family, have to assess, react, and learn and develop from what happened. This is what, to me made the book so interesting and added to depth to what the author was trying to say. The theme in the book has definitely impacted me in some way. It made me realize that there are going to be difficult times in my life, but you can conquer them with persistence and passion. Also if you are perceived as small, weak, helpless, prove everyone wrong and show them what you can do. Be the best that you can be and that is all you can do in life. If the Party has control over what was written down in history, they can easily manipulate their citizens to believe anything that they claim is true. This ability of control over history has also opened up the opportunity to alter the memories of the citizens of Oceania. Being able to control the memories of the people and causing them to believe one thing and another is an example of doublethink. The Party used doublethink in order to increase and strengthen their power over the citizens. Power is also a factor that revolves around the action of doublethink. Becnel mentions the importance of doublethink and power in his critic upon the novel, Doublethink is the foundation on which the Party s power rests, (Becnel 11). Becnel s claim basically states that in order to maintain and strengthen their power, the Party must resort to doublethink in order to have better control of their citizens. Discuss how caregivers can promote cognitive development of children during the first six years of life. Cognition deals with the development of thought. It is mncerned with how children and adults understand the world around them. Caregivers must channelize the child s initiative towards constructive ends, which will help her to develop self confidence. The caregivers have to teach the child self control and limits of her behaviour but they have to do so without curbing her initiative. If something must not be done, they must explain to the child why it is so, instead of simply restricting her actions. It would be more useful if caregivers inculcate desirable social values, without being overly concerned about whether the values are conventionally masculine or feminine. Affection oriented techniques, which rely on reasoning with the child to foster the desired behaviour and appeal to the child s sense of responsibility, have a beneficial impact, while power oriented techniques, which rely on threatening the child or withholding privileges without explanation, can be harmful. Geostatistical Interpolation For Spatial Data Geostatistical Interpolation for Spatial Data Abstract: Continuous surfaces of rainfall climate variable are becoming increasingly used as input to spatially explicit atmospheric ,hydrologic ,ecologic and environmental models. Several methodologies exist for spatial interpolation of climate and weather parameters, among them is the ordinary kriging method .A large sampling effort is required to produce an accurate geostatistical map, and the extraction and analysis of each sample is often expensive, The effectiveness of a particular sampling scheme is dependent upon the spatial variability of the quantity being measured .In this paper ,we used the ordinary kriging method to estimate the rainfall distribution in Iraq. One of the most pressing issues currently facing museums worldwide is the diminishing level of government support. Despite reductions in government funding, the sustained maintenance of museumcollections and facilities continues to require substantial resources. In the face of such difficulties, a growing number of museums have turned to innovative programming, specifically exhibitions, as a way to ensure financial viability through increased attendance. Given the growing competition for consumer leisure time in today s society, attention has shifted away from traditional scholarly collection based exhibitions, towards the populist exhibition format offered by blockbuster exhibitions. Through a discussion of Harry Potterв„ў: The Exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum and the First Emperor: China s Entombed Warriors at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, this essay will examine the two approaches museums are taking to the blockbuster model. According to Joyce A. Little, the major moral problem that human s face is that when people attempt to agree upon attacking evil, their different opinions separate their views on identifying exactly what should be right? Little expresses the problem as we cannot agree on what would be right or good for society...by people whose fundamental views of reality are radically opposed to the Church s (23). What is our true source of knowledge of good and evil? The true source of knowledge for most people is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But to Joyce A. Little, it s not the knowledge in itself, but the quality of being able to name something, which is the ability to learn about something in order to label it. So in other words, according to Little, the knowledge of good and evil is really the knowledge to label something as good or evil. She writes, summarizing God s command to Adam and Eve, not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Do not claim the ability to name or to define what is good and evil for yourselves, because you do not know enough about me to know what you are supposed to do to be my image in the world. Blout, Bryant, Bryce Lawn, Burke, Friedman, The Highlands, Lakeside, Parham, Paty, Ridgecrest, Riverside, Somerville, and Tutwiler house roughly 5,000 more students. These freshman options barely fit the ever growing number of new students coming to Alabama. The University of Alabama board of trustees recently approved a $124 million dollar project to tear down and rebuild Julia TutwilerDorms. The dorm currently houses 1,000 freshman girls. The Tutwiler Dorms are due to be torn down at the end of the 2017 Spring Semester. The new building is scheduled to be finished in 2020. The new building will include a parking deck and be able to house almost 2,000 women. The board also approved of new dorms to be built

To get a sense of what is possible and perhaps even advisable in the sustainability realm requires benchmarking against a set of companies that have taken a leadership position on environmental or social issues or against an established set of sustainability best practices. (Esty Simmons, 2011) Because the LEED certification is the most popular certification amongst IAVM members including convention center facilities, benchmarking and actively working to be certified using these standards has been the San Diego Convention Center s strategic approach to sustainability. This method provides a foundation for the San Diego Convention Center to understand what is being done by competitors and what the key performance indicators are of sustainability. However, as mentioned before, sustainability includes the elements of economic, social/cultural, and environmental sustainability. This report will therefore address the LEED certification as well as the areas of economic and social/cultural sustainability from the Green Globe certification. (Green Globe Certification, 2016) LEED Certification Below is the SDCC LEED Scorecard for the renewal submitted in October 2016 for Version 3 with an upgrade to Gold. Looking at the house, then at the car you conclude that this person must be famous; therefore, successful. As you stand there gawking at the house and car someone exits the front door and you recognize it s your friend. Both of you engage in conversation, and you re overly excited about this new car and home and he just remains cool about it. To him the house is just a place to stay and the car is just a thing to drive, but to you these things represent reaching a level of success. What is success? Success is a term with many definitions. Webster s dictionary defines success in four different ways: (1) the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; (2) the attainment of wealth, position, honors or the like; (3) a successful performance or achievement; and (4) a person or thing that is successful. Despite the seeming clear definitions of the word, it s different for each individual. However, out of the four meanings, many only associated the word with definitionnumber two. Society says success is determined by how much money one makes or the level of fame achieved. Although society equates power, prestige, and wealth to success, there is a problem in society s view of success and Webster s

She made it her mission to rescue the rest of her family from slavery starting with her niece Kizzy, who was going to be sold to the South along with her two small children. Her husband, a free man named John Bowley, contacted Harriet, warning her of this troubling news and requested her help in rescuing his wife and children. Harriet organized for her return to Maryland and was able to help Bowley buy his wife s freedom. They were then brought to their refuge and new home, Philadelphia. She then went back for her elderly parents and other family members on the Eastern Shore and brought them to Canada, which had abolished slavery for several years and was slowly becoming the home for several hundreds of fugitive slaves. This was the first of many trips made by Harriet Tubman, creating her reputation as the Moses of her people, leading them to the promised land. During the span of her 10 year career on the Underground Railroad, she made 19 trips to the South and, never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger (192). Effects Of Mass Incarceration In The New Jim Crow Introduction The United States is a divided country due to the injustice society and unequal rights many African Americans still suffer through mass incarceration. The novel, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness , focuses on the current problem of mass incarceration that many people are not accepting of or pretend to be blind to. Due to the election of President Barrack Obama, there was no longer an effort made towards the mass incarceration although it is still occurring. Michelle Alexander, the author of the novel, believes that Barrack Obama s presidential victory was a distraction from the severity of mass incarceration. Michelle Alexander hopes this novel will shed light upon those who are not aware of the problem of mass incarceration, as well as to offer support to those currently incarcerated. Background The epidemic regarding racism is still an ongoing issue dating back to the colonial period when African Americans were sold to owners as cheap labor which resulted in the beginning of slavery. African Americans were placed at the bottom of the racial caste system which was eventually replaced by Jim Crow. Jim Crow may have replaced the word slavery but was very similar as blacks were still being sold, owned and suppressed. The fact that some African Americans have experienced great success in recent years does not mean that something akin to a racial caste system no longer exists (Alexander, M. p.21, 2012). His painting titled Indian Summer Hudson River was completed in 1861. It is oil on canvas painting, which measures twenty four inches in height by forty one inches wide. One looks out across a secluded section of the Hudson River. It is late afternoon, and the sun is beginning its decent. The sun is almost blinding; its rays glistening and reflecting upon the river turning its blues to greens. The sky is clear with the exception of a few scattered clouds, which begin to absorb the gold and reds of the setting sun, giving an almost hazy effect to the end of this Indian summer day. On the far side of the river, a child helps his father pull a small boat onto the bank, as a small group of cattle makes their way across from the bank opposite them. The cattle move slowly and intently across the water, drinking as they walk, enjoying the last moments of the day as they continue toward the father and son. Two additional cows lounge on the cool earth beneath the trees whose branches are scattered with the crimson and yellow orange colors of early evening and that of fall. In analyzing Bierstadt s Indian Summer Hudson River , the painting would be defined as an example of representational artwork. Bierstadt s painting

That the 16th president eventually achieved the abolitionists most cherished dream, says biographer Allen Guelzo, happened through a curious combination of political maneuvering, personal conviction, and commitment to constitutional principle. One of the ironies of the Civil War era and the end of slavery in the United States has always been that the man who played the role of the Great Emancipator was so hugely mistrusted and so energetically vilified by the party of abolition. Its current business model is one that relies on the internet and the post service to deliver DVDs to its subscribers. Netflix should carefully enter the VOD market without doing away with its current model. This will allow it to maintain its growing position as a giant in this media industry. In order to better understand Netflix and the problems it faces, we must first identify its strengths. What does Netflix offer its customers that its competitors do not? What differentiates it from its competitors? First of all, it offers a prepaid subscription service that allows customers to simply subscribe and pay a fixed fee per month. This gives the customer the ability to rent unlimited movies, something never heard of in this industry. In addition, customers are also worry free about returning movies late since Netflix did away with all late fees. It must also be stated that in contrast to other companies that offer subscription based services, Netflix has made it relatively easy to unsubscribe from the packet or service the customer has selected. Freezing point, a colligative property of a solution, is constant in any substance and does not rely on the amount given. The experiment must have had a contaminated sample of cyclohexanol, rather than a pure sample. This accounts for the difference in the experimental values and the actual values. Conclusion: By demonstrating the application of a colligative property of a solution, the change in freezing point observed between the cyclohexanol and the solution with the cyclohexanol as the solvent can be used to calculate the unknown solute s molar mass. The data in the lab was graphed and shown in the cooling curve. Bases off the data on the graph, the freezing points are shown where the temperature remains constant. Using the freezing points, the difference of freezing point was calculated. The molality of solution was calculated in the lab using the molar mass of the unknown solution from the given previous data. The data in the lab showed the molar mass of the unknown solute to be off from the given molar mass in the lab. This can be explained through contamination. Theoretically, it was learned that by calculating the freezing point of an unknown substance, it can be identified. The lab showed important techniques in using a graph
