Examples Of High School Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Examples of High School Essays" presents a multifaceted
challenge. The intricacy arises from the need to strike a balance between providing insightful
examples and maintaining a cohesive narrative that captures the essence of high school writing.
Firstly, navigating through the vast array of high school essays requires a keen understanding of
the diverse topics and styles prevalent in educational settings. Each essay serves as a unique
expression of a student's thoughts, experiences, and analytical abilities. Attempting to
encapsulate this diversity within the confines of an essay is akin to navigating a literary
labyrinth, where the challenge lies not only in finding exemplary pieces but also in elucidating
their significance.
Furthermore, one must tread carefully to avoid falling into the trap of merely listing examples
without delving into the underlying principles that make these essays noteworthy. An effective
essay demands an analytical approach, where the writer dissects each example, elucidating the
techniques, styles, and nuances that elevate them to exemplary status. This task requires a
discerning eye and an ability to articulate the subtleties that might escape a casual observer.
Additionally, constructing a coherent narrative necessitates a deep understanding of the evolving
landscape of high school essays. Over the years, educational trends, writing standards, and
assessment criteria have undergone transformations, making it crucial for the writer to stay
abreast of these changes. This ever-shifting terrain adds an extra layer of complexity to the
essay-writing process, requiring the writer to not only reflect on past examples but also to
consider contemporary influences.
In conclusion, the challenge of writing an essay on "Examples of High School Essays" lies in the
intricate balance between showcasing diversity, providing insightful analysis, and adapting to the
evolving landscape of educational writing. It is an endeavor that demands not only a
comprehensive understanding of high school essays but also the ability to articulate their
nuances effectively.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate task, similar essays and a wealth of
additional resources are available for order on HelpWriting.net, where expert guidance can be

The Effect Of Reaction Time On Cyclohexanone
Results and discussion
4.1. Polymerization mechanism
In base catalyzed aldol condensation of cyclohexanone (A), KOH or NaOH acts as a
non nucleophilic agent. In presence of base, cyclohexanone initially turns to enolate
by losing О±пЂhydrogen. The formed enolate then reacts with the carbonyl group of
the second molecule and leads to the formation of aldol intermediate. The
polymerization reaction proceeds further by the reaction between the carbonyl group
of third molecule and the activated methylene group of the second molecule. In the
present study, the effect of reaction parameters on conversion of cyclohexanone and
the product properties was extensively analyzed. The most probable dimeric

**VL = viscous liquid. Fig. 3. Effect of reaction time on (a) Monomer conversion, (b)
Hydroxyl value, and (c) Iodine value of products (reaction conditions: temp. = 110
п‚°C, A/K ratio = 0.2).
The result (Table 2) shows that there is no significant change in acid values of the
products with reaction time. The average acid value of the product samples is
around 0.29. The analysis shows that solubility of the products in MTO decreases
with the increase of reaction time. The reason for the gradual decrease in solubility
may be due to the increase in average molecular weight of the products with time.
The measured solubility of 20 hrs sample is 65 wt%, whereas the solubility of
monomer is around 92 wt%. The data also shows that viscosity of the products
increases with the increase of reaction time. Both the phenomena (i.e. decrease of
solubility and increase of viscosity with time) clearly indicates that the extent of
polymerization reaction increases with reaction time. The average value of moisture
content in the products is 1.82
Pop Culture Research Paper
If you take a look at our culture today, the first thing you will notice is that most
everyone has some kind of device whether it is a laptop, ipad, or simply a smart
phone. If you decided to do a little more digging, it is likely that you will notice the
web browser history includes videos searched on Youtube. That s right, Youtube is
used by 1 billion active users every month; one out of every two people who have
access to the Internet! We use Youtube for everyday things such as looking up how
to solve a trigonometry math problem, watching the 2016 AMA Awards, or
watching how to make delicious homemade cookies! It has certainly changed the
past twelve years drastically, with people all over the world gaining access to almost
any video available! Being an aspect of popular culture, YouTube helps diffuse new
opinions into popular culture; without it, the diffusion of innovations, videos, or
catching up with the latest news would be virtually impossible! One may ask, how
did this life changing websitecome to be? On February 14, 2005, in San Mateo, CA,

While exemplifying traits of hierarchical diffusion, memes are an important aspect
of pop culture. In fact, a humorous yet famous meme was the Michael Phelps meme
, in which Chad Le Clo was standing in front of Michael in the waiting room and
Michael was giving him the stare. Normally, these memes come from short clips
from Youtube videos or live events broadcasted via Youtube. Some examples of viral
memes were Charlie Bit my Finger and Star Wars Kid .
Video games are equally popular in this culture due to it being the day in age
where video games dominate teen s minds. A Let s Play Video is a clear example
of how video games and popular culture go together. PewDiePie (the most subscribed

Advantages and Disadvantages
Perhaps the most significant capability of GDI over more direct methods of
accessing the hardware, Wikipedia (2005), is its scaling capabilities, and abstraction
of target devices. Using GDI, it is very easy to draw on multiple devices, such as a
screen and a printer, and expect proper reproduction in each case. This capability is
at the center of all WYSIWYG applications for Microsoft Windows.
One of the biggest advantages of the X Window, Lockergnome (1996 2005),
approach to GUIs is that X is completely independent of the core operating system. In
other operating systems, a GUI crash requires a system restart. With X, the GUI can
be stopped, started, changed, and restarted without so much as denting the underlying
processes of the OS.
Not addressed in this paper is the Windows Graphics Foundation, which is the next
version of Microsoft s DirectX application programming interface (API). Games and
all they require are out of scope of both the Window manager available for the
Knoppix Linux Boot disk and GDI.
Conclusion
I actually prefer the Windows 2000 DE and all that entails. Perhaps this is born from
familiarity alone, but considering both let me move my mouse, click and open
windows, and access files there is not much more to judge. In the final observation
pertaining to this, the performance I get from using Windows operating system and
its DE outshines what is available with the Knoppix Linux Boot disk.
Zombie Lore Analysis
Since the modern zombie s inception in George Romero s Night of the Living Dead
(1968), the famous creature has consistently explored humanity s innate desire to
control others as well as commenting on humans losing their humanity. The genre has
evolved rapidly throughout the decades, transitioning from voodoo culture tropes to a
zombiespin on Richard Matheson s I Am Legend (1954), and eventually, to satirical
and sociopolitical commentary. The concepts of superiority and the loss of virtue
are definitely applicable to our most basic state of human nature and are most
effectively displayed in zombie lore. The Loss of Humanity and the Flourish of
Desire In Zombie Lore Exercising dominance over another is a fairly prevalent theme
in zombie culture. In Suzanne Lea s article Modern Zombie Makers: Enacting the
Ancient Impulse to Control and Possess Another, she compares zombie lore, culture,
and psychological boundaries to the horrific atrocities committed by infamous serial
killerJeffrey Dahmer. Lea s summarization of the crimes of Dahmer are very
disturbing to the average individual, yet when viewed from a natural instinct
perspective, the murderer s intentions make a little more sense. Dahmer craved
possession, superiority, and dominance so much that he kidnapped, tortured, raped,
and mutilated many innocent people. According to Lea s article, Dahmer attempted
to create a living zombie that would submit to his desires, yet avoid any attempt to
Black Boy Quotes
One situation that stood out to me in this novel Black Boy is how starting the
school late affects main character,Richard, and how he struggles on the first day of
his school, which reflects to my first day in BCA. Richard begins his school at a
later age than usual due to lack of money, and this late start causes Richard to have
difficult time participating as much as his passion in class, but instead it helps him to
interact with older students. Attaching myself [himself] with a group of older boys...

Alcohol vs. Marijuana Essay
Alcohol vs. Marijuana
Alcohol and marijuana are two drugs commonly used and abused in the United
States. Alcohol is the number one abused drug, while marijuana is number one
among illegal drugs. While alcohol remains legal, and marijuana illegal, this does not
necessarily mean that alcohol is better for you. There have been many arguments
where people suggest that marijuana should be legal because alcohol is more deadly.
On the other hand, there are alcoholics who would tell a pothead that smoking weed
is bad for you. Both substances are very bad for your health and should not be
heavily used by anyone.
Marijuana has an immediate effect during and for about 2 hours after smoking. With
alcohol, users feel slight effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alcohol impairs judgment and vision, and causes speeding and reckless driving. On
the other hand, there has been debate over the effect of marijuana on driving. One
study by a computer software company reported that people who smoked a small
amount of marijuana drove faster and with fewer collisions in a driving computer
game. Another study said that marijuana causes abnormally slow driving, proneness
to distraction, and increases the time it takes to react, therefore greatly impairs your
ability to drive.
Long term effects of alcohol are liver cirrhosis, stomach ailments, impotence, vitamin
deficiency, increased stroke risk, decreased mental performance, heart disease, peptic
ulcers, hepatitis, and various forms of cancer. Alcohols effects on the brain are loss
of coordination, poor judgment, slowed reflexes, distorted vision, memory lapses,
and even blackouts. Long term effects of marijuana are mouth, throat, and lung
cancer, increased heart rate, decrease in testosterone levels for men, increased
testosterone levels for women, diminished sexual pleasure, increased blood pressure,
increased stress, decreased motivation, and respiratory problems. The THC in
marijuana damages the nerve cells in the part of the brain where memories are
formed, making it hard to remember things.
Both substances can lead to dependence, especially alcohol. If one abuses alcohol for
to long and becomes dependent, they are
Chinua Crude Prices And Its Implications On India
FALL IN CRUDE PRICES ITS IMPLICATIONS ON INDIA
Introduction:
The presence of crude oil was first discovered in China way back in 3rd or 4th
century A.D. The presence of oil in India was discovered in late 1889 at Digboi in
Assam where the first crude oil refinery was set up in 1901. India is not among the
major oil producers and that is why it generally depends on imports from other
countries. The largest crude oil producing country is Saudi Arabia followed by
Russia and America. The extent of the commodity s importance was shown to the
world when the world s strongest economies were shaken up as the oil prices shot
up in 1973 and 1979, after this the whole oil sector was nationalized in India.
Currently, crude oil alone is responsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main reasons is the mismatch between the demand and supply of oil.
Due to sluggish pace of global economies, the demand has been reducing. The
other more important reason is tremendous increase in production levels by the oil
extraction using Shale Gas formations in wells of Texas and North Dakota. When
the oil prices were at $110 115/barrel, they drilled oil from shale gas formations
which was earlier considered unviable due to low profit margins. This drilling has
resulted into a supply glut which is further helped by Saudi Arabia and OPEC who are
reluctant to decrease production. Source: www.wtrg.com
It is said that OPEC as a cartel has been unfruitful is maintaining the price levels.
Some say that OPEC and Saudi Arabia are purposely not relenting to reduce the
production as oil production from Shale Gas formations is much more expensive
than oil production at Saudi Arabia (~$5 6/barrel) which is the lowest in the world.
OPEC and Saudi Arabia hope to wipe out the Shale Gas producers by the continued
fall of crude oil price levels to less than $50/barrel after which it is believed that it
would be unviable for the Shale Gas producers to continue.
Impact of the fall for India Crude Oil prices affect the life of the average human
being in India in multiple ways from food prices to transport costs. It would seem
that falling crude oil prices is great news which couldn t
Theme Of Marriage In Merchant Of Venice
In Elizabethan Society during the time in which William Shakespeare wrote The
Merchant of Venice, many marriages were arranged by the parents of the betrothed
couple to ensure the transfer of wealth as opposed to assuring true love. Once
married, the woman was expected to be subservient to her husband and not control
any matters of the estate. Although not necessarily written as a stance on women s
position in society, it is from this perspective that Shakespeare wrote The Merchant of
Venicelaying down an underlying theme of marriagefor wealth within the play. Love
in William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice is bartered like a tradable
commodity in order to gain money, status, and resources. The social norm during
the time period was for fathers to marry their daughters off to respectable men who
could be trusted with a family s wealth after it was passed down. In the case of
Portia in William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, her father is still
determined to choose who she will marry, even from beyond the grave. By setting
up the casket contest, Portia s father is ensuring the commodity, Portia s hand in
marriage and undying love, will go to who he would have approved of to court his
daughter. By obtaining the commodity in question, the suitors would also obtain the
vast amount of wealth held by Portia s family. One suitor in particular, the Prince of
Morocco, best exemplifies this when he is deciding what casket to choose; Let s see

My Internship At The Richland County Public Defender s...
Introduction
My internship is at the Richland County Public Defender s Office and I work
directly with two juvenile defense attorneys. My office is at the Richland County
Judicial Center. This position is very new and I am the second person to have this
internship at USC, so defining my position is very complex. I do not have an on site
social work supervisor to turn to when I have questions, so, I have to figure out a
lot of things on my own. Being that I work directly with the attorneys, a lot of
things I see on the daily are on the legal side and not the social worker side per se.
However, the attorneys involve me in the entire process when working with each
client to provide a social work perspective to better help the clients and increase the
quality of their services. Some of my duties involves researching client information,
searching for services and resources for the clients and families, examining IEPs for
the attorney and clients, visiting clients while they are in secure locations, attending
interagency staffing for clients, advocating for clients and the services they need, and
many more tasks. Every day is different and provides multiple opportunities to meet
with other professionals and clients.

The Death Of A Close Family Member Change
How do you think you would deal with death? Would the death of a close family
member change you in any way? How do we know how to accept that loss, and go
on with our own life as if nothing had happened? As a young girl when I started
growing into my teen years. I never once worried about the what if s in life. I was
too busy enjoying life with all the new things it had in store for me, as I was
becoming a teenager. I felt like nothing could harm me, or the familyI loved. To me
my family was invincible. The bad things we would hear about in life like death,
or an illness only happened to those around us. I never really wondered why, but I
felt my family and myself were always safe. I went from day to day not realizing
the impact that the death of a loved one would have on the remaining family
members. According to my friends, I was the spoiled girl next door. They
considered me as the only friend they had that lived a worry free happy go lucky
life. Although I did miss my father at times, he was not home very much, it seemed
like he was always at work. My parents made sure I had everything I needed or
wanted, for the most part I was happy. I had no idea that my life as I knew it was
about to change. It all started one Wednesday evening. I had noticed that my dad
was home extra early from work. I could see the troubled look on his face as him and
my mother went into the den and shut the door. I did not give it much thought at the
time. I swept what curiosity I
Corporate Social Responsibility Components Of The
Company
Corporate Social Responsibility components
Corporate social responsibility of the company manifests itself not only to customers
but also employees and environment. In the brand s core there are based principles of
respect and understanding for the normal functioning of all processes starting from
the development and production to marketing and sales of finished products. The
LVMHvalues in people their interests, needs and values (Social Responsibility,
n.d.). This policy is ideally focused on developing new ways of production and using
raw materials and resources in innovations according to environment changes. That is
why, one of the most important parts in production of product plays The LVMH
Environmental Department. The main objectives of the Department are aimed at
designing of products by using new innovations and controlling environmental risks
(Environment, n.d.). The brand has different initiatives for all Houses. For example,
there is an initiative for the Perfumes Cosmetics Houses and Sephora which is
aimed on using recycling materials which can be used in future manufacture and
packaging products. The main idea of this initiative is to reduce environmental
solution and provide an opportunity to use raw and recycling materials not only for
the development but also for selling them to a network of specialist recyclers. With
absolute certainty it can be made a conclusion that corporate social responsibility of
the LVMH is a strength of the brand which gives an
Definition Of Anguish By Sartre
In a general ideology, anguish is synonymous with distress, suffering, and/or pain.
However, existentialists say that man is in anguish and, according to Sartre, a man
who commits himself, and who realizes that he is not only the individual that he
chooses to be, but also a legislator choosing at the same time what humanity as a
whole should be, cannot help but be aware of his own full and profound
responsibility is in anguish (25). This man in anguish not only is responsible for
what and who he is, but what surrounds him and how he perceives those things to
be. Sartre also writes The anguish we are concerned with is not the kind that could
lead to quietism or inaction. It is anguish pure and simple, of the kind experienced by
all who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Presumably a thought process involves some sort of inner monologue or voice.
However, if this voice turns into many voices, or not the voice of the individual, the
situation becomes problematic. Another example Sartre uses, a psychiatric patient,
asks, Or if I hear voices, what proof is there that they come from heaven and not
from hell, or from my own subconscious, or some pathological condition? (26). All
of her questions lend themselves to the existentialist tradition of questioning
circumstances. She uses the existence of a condition to question her own. However,
she cannot prove these voices exist. So if she can t prove their existence, how can
she prove any existence? It could be that this sort of thinking too much is a kind of
curse thrust upon those who choose to think about their existence. In any case, this
internal voice (or voices) can be quite harmful to the mental stability of an individual.
This further challenges the idea freedom in that this patient is not free from her
Social Media Negative Essay
Distracted from distraction by distraction. is a quote from T.S. Elliot that best
describes what I see in a world obsessed with social media. Have you ever seen a
family or a couple ignoring each other because they re glued to their electronic
devices while eating at a restaurant? How about a concert where a sea of fans direct
their cell phones toward the performer rather than taking in the experience? This
obsession with technology has wedged itself in between families and genuine
interactions. If we do not open our eyes to the damaging effects of this
phenomenon, our future generations may go so far down the rabbit hole they
may never return. Many people support this view, like Sam Woolfe, who argues,
Depression, addiction, and social interaction are psychologically damaging
aspects of Facebook. Holly B. Shakya agrees by stating that her research results
show that, the use of Facebook was negatively associated with overall well being.
On the flip side, Nicole B. Ellison believes that there are many benefits of Facebook
and social media. I believe social technology is overwhelmingly destructive
because it is addictive, causes isolation, and reduces overall well being. Social
media sites, like Facebook, are addictive and causes may people to become
reclusive. Citing evidence from a Harvard University fMRI scan study that shows
that self disclosure of information is essentially rewarding, Sam Woolfe suggests
that social media is addictive and causes social isolation. These fMRI scans are able
to show the release of dopamine when individuals share information about
themselves. This neurotransmitter, also labeled the pleasure chemical , has a
primary role in addiction and is associated with sexual gratification, coffee, nicotine,
and gambling. Like any addiction, it can lead to social isolation and depression
because it can detract from face to face interactions. Authentic social interactions are
necessary to develop and maintain social skills like conversation, recognizing tone of
voice, and body language. Our species is social and cyber interactions are not a
substitute for authentic interactions. The concern becomes what about the children
exposed to these faux interactions before fully developing
Utopian City Of The Omelas
Bentham, credited for founding the utilitarian theory, believes that pleasure and
pain govern us all. He claims that we are naturally drawn to pleasure and repulsed
by pain , meaning that as humans, it is most likely that we rather feel good. He
also is saying that we tend to act negatively towards pain as well. I believe he is
correct because this is what our body naturally does. Rarely does a person find joy
in being in pain. When it comes to the utopian city of the Omelas, everything is
based around happiness. They are described as very intelligent people who are
very mature. A lot of the luxury stuff and technology is not present in their city.
They only have things they feel are necessary. Happiness caused by pain and evil
are not allowed. Bentham does not believe in Hinduism because he believes it is
not good to avoid pain and does not like the fact that they only see their happiness
as the only true happiness. Compared to the Omelas, Bentham s theory would not
be accepted in their society. The Omelas tend to avoid pain as much as they can
which is the reason it has become a fear to most of the citizens. The Omelas don t
have individuality, so everyone seems to share the... Show more content on

I wouldn t want to go against the actions everyone else is doing and it is quite easy
to just blend in with the crowd. As long as I look happy around the other citizens, I
would not have a problem. When I am at home in private I can act however I want
to because no one is watching. I believe in saving your tears for your pillow,
meaning that I should stay positive no matter the situation. If I start to feel upset, I
wouldn t show it until I got home. I feel like going against the city s regulations is
only going to cause commotion or drama that can easily be avoided. Also, if I were
to show that I am not happy, they would probably find a closet to lock me into as
well, just like the little boy that they

An increasing number of employers require fitness workers to have a bachelor s
degree in a field related to health or fitness, such as exercise science or physical
education. Some employers allow workers to substitute a college degree for
certification, but most employers who require a bachelor s degree also require
certification. Most personal trainers must obtain certification in the fitness field to
gain employment. Group fitness instructors do not necessarily need certification to
begin working. The most important characteristic that an employer looks for in a new
fitness instructor is the ability to plan and lead a class that is motivating and safe.
However, most organizations encourage their group instructors to become certified
over time, and many require it. In the fitness field, there are many organizations, some
of which are listed in the last section of this statement that offer certification.
Becoming certified by one of the top certification organizations is increasingly
important, especially for personal trainers. One way to ensure that a certifying
organization is reputable is to see that it is accredited by the National Commission for
Certifying Agencies.
Most certifying organizations require candidates to have a high school diploma, be
certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and pass an exam. All certification

How Is Kingdom Of Heaven Historically Accurate
Although the movie Kingdom of Heaven was based on a true historical event, not
all the scenes are accurate. The relationships, knights, and weapons seen in the
movie do not all add up to the way things were during the Second Crusade.
Hollywood movie directors are in it for the money. They want to make an action
packed movie. They do not care if everything in the movie is historically correct.
Although the movie was not all historically correct, it still does a good job of
portraying what happened during the Second Crusade. These are some events that
happened in the movie. I will tell you why they are not all historically correct.
Some relationships in this movie were not quite portrayed the way they actually
were. For example, in the movie it shows Balian not being acquainted with father,
when actually Balian was not as illegitimate as the movie portrayed him to be.
Also, Balian had two brothers. Baldwin, his older brother was actually the one to
fall in love with Sybilla. There is no record of any type of romance between Balin
and Sybilla. In the movie it portrays Sybilla as hating Guy de Lusignan, and even
said she was forced to marry him. According to medievalreader.wordpress.com,

It took a lot of training and many years to become a knight. According to the book
Knights of Crusades by Jay Williams, Chivalry itself was now practically a

religious duty. In the movie, Balian made every able bodied man into a knight to try

Persuasive Essay On Racism And Hypocrisy
In our world today, it seems that the news is filled exclusively with stories of
attacks, racism, and hypocrisy. Americans are becoming divided, our words filled
with hatred, our hearts with fear of what the future holds for our country. With the
recent shootings in Las Vegas and Sutherland Springs, people are looking to blame
political parties or the government. With the take a knee protests in the National
Football League, people are demanding that players give respect to the country that
gave them freedom. With the closing of the doors at Lakewood Church during
Hurricane Harvey, people are criticizing the hypocrisy they see in Christianity. And
all the while, we stand back and listen, thinking to ourselves, God, please change
their hearts. Give us peace in this land. But hearts will not be changed if not
prompted to change. Our land will not be given peace without peacemakers taking
action. We are called to be lights in this world, a city on a hill. The problems that
plague our nation are not entirely because of the evils that are prevailing. Part of
the blame is on us, on me. When we sit silently in the wake of violence and hatred,
we are letting evil win. The problem lies in the closed lips of the Christians who do
not proclaim the hope that we find in JesusChrist. In staying quiet, we are keeping
the opportunity of knowing Christ from those around us. But what can we do? In a
country that claims freedom of religion and speech, but seems to suppress those who
Questions On Online Learning Styles
When it comes to learning styles, what exactly comes to mind? Would it be hands
on, auditory, or tactile learning? Those are all similar styles that can be park of
online learning or most of all the traditional style of learning. So what would you
choose? There are many similarities when it comes to traditional and online learning
but it s important to know there are just as many differences between the two. When
it comes to the two learning stylesthere are always the different distractions, learning
methods, and always the occasional getting in the way of work.
Let s start with talking about online learning. There are about 6.1 Million people

was one of them my first semester.) Why take an online course you ask? Well
sometimes you don t have enough time out of the day to be able to drive up to the
college and sit in a classroom for hours at a time. With taking online courses it
gives you more time but it does cause a lot of distractions. You re going to be doing
a lot of your work at home. This means whatever you have going on around your
house is a given distraction. Whether it s a TV playing in the background, a dog
that won t sit still, or of course the route y toddler you have playing with blocks as
you type this essay! There s also different learning methods you will experience
while taking online courses. Almost all of the work will be in front of your computer

The Importance Of Communication At The End Of Life
By...
The article The importance of communication in sustaining hope at the end of life by
Maureen Hawthorn, breaks down different types of communication skills and tools
health professionals encounter while working in a palliative care environment. These
types of communication skills and tools Hawthorn discusses were therapeutic
communication, holistic person centered care, communication skills, poor
communication, the six step SPIKES protocol, hope and the fostering hope.
Therapeutic communication is the first communication tool Hawthorn discusses.
Hawthorn explains that therapeutic communication allows care providers to get a
better understanding of how patients convey thoughts, emotions, ideas and anxieties.
By doing this provider must be able to as sess a patient s perception, obtain a patient
s invitation, and respond to a patient by expressing empa thy. Hawthorn believes that
this process should be done verbally and non verbally, allowing patients to better
understand themselves and their situation. Therapeutic communication skills for
health pro fessionals are important because it allows patients the opportunities to
communicate openly and al lows them to feel less anxiety and more hopeful during
their time of needs. The next tool Hawthorn discusses is that health care providers
can use, in a palliative care setting, a holistic person centered approach. This means
mot only caring for the physical well being of a patient, but also their psychological,
social, and

Eastern Flight 401
An Eastern Air Lines Lockheed L 1011 crashed at 2342 eastern standard time,
December 29, 1972, 18.7 miles west northwest of Miami International Airport,
Miami, Florida. The aircraft was destroyed. Of the 163 passengers and 13
crewmembers aboard, 94 passengers and 5 crewmembers received fatal injuries. Two
survivors died later as a result of their injuries.
Following a missed approach because of a suspected nose gear malfunction, the
aircraft climbed to 2, 000 feet mean sea level and proceeded on a westerly heading.
The three flight crewmembers and a jumpseat occupant became engrossed in the
malfunction.

Because of this, the faulty bulb was not replaced. An entry in the maintenance records
indicated that the light was fixed. One could say that the mechanic should have been
more thorough. However, the light was functioning when the maintenance personnel
released the aircraft. (Note. This device is (simply) pushed into, or pulled out of the
instrument panel or receptacle to change the bulb. This design facilitates ease of bulb
replacement.)
There were significant animosities between labor and management at the time of this
accident. Perhaps the maintenance personnel would have been more thorough if
labor relations would have been more amiable. There are many factors that could
have interfered with the maintenance personnel performing the repairs properly
ranging from form personal problems to job satisfaction. If the employee was
subjected any undo pressures or distractions the employees performance may have
been affected. This pressure could stem from many areas such as working conditions,
to experiencing marital, family, or health problems.
The laboratory was able to determine that the filament in this bulb was not burning at
the time of impact. Additionally the flight crew had reported to Miami Air Traffic
Control Tower that they had an unsafe gear indication. The aircraft made a low

The Importance Of Suicide Prevention
The definition of suicide is the act of intentionally causing one s own death. Suicides
happen every day and the emotional impact such an act has on individuals, families,
and communities is devastating and tragic. Unfortunately, suicide has become a
much bigger social issue than society likes to admit. Many people seem to think of
teenage years as their happiest years in life but what others do not know is that
someone can be suffering from pain caused by an emotional or environmental issue.
Suicideprevention should be an important subject in schools, work places, and even
at home. Family and friends should not have to face repercussions and guilt after
one has decided to take their own life; these peers should be aware and have... Show

Teenagers experience strong feelings of stress, confusion, self doubt, and pressure
to succeed while growing up. These are fears that teens face every day and suicide
may seem like the solution to their problems. There are many signs for parents to
watch for in teenagers: changes in eating and sleeping habits, drug or alcohol abuse,
violent actions, rebellious behavior, frequent complaints, and withdrawal from family
and friends. Many of these signs and symptoms can be similar to depression. It is
important for parents, teachers, and physicians to be aware of these symptoms in
adolescents. (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, October 2013).
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention website, there are also
additional suicide rates shown by race and methods. In 2015, the highest U.S. suicide
rate was among Whites and the second highest rate was among American Indians and
Alaska Natives. Also in 2015, firearms were the most common method used to
commit suicide. Suffocation and poisoning were the other common methods used
(AFSP Suicide Statistics). Virginia closely resembles national statistics, on average
one person dies by suicide every eight hours. Also, suicide is the eleventh leading
cause of death in the state (AFSP State Fact Sheets). The suicide rates in Virginia
have been slowly increasing since 1999. Teen suicides resemble adult suicides as

The Causes And Impacts Of The Avignon Papacy
Even before the Middle Ages, there had always been tension between the
government in the Holy Roman Empire and the Catholic Church. This tension had
built over years and years of each trying to become top dog, and be the one true
power within the empire. However, during this time national monarchies began to
show up, such as England and France. These monarchies outside the empire, were out
of its control began to gain their own power. With their newfound power, came even
more conflict with the Church. One of the biggest conflicts was between the popein
the Empire and the King of France. These conflicts eventually led to the period of
time known as the Avignon Papacy, which lasted about seventy years. The Avignon
Papacy was the time during which the pope was moved from Rome to Avignon, just
across the river from France. This marked a huge change within the empire, and had
several important impacts. These impacts include a loss in Church prestige, the loss
of the Roman identity of the Church, as well as a loss of faith in the Church by the
people within the empire. The conflict between the Church and the French Monarchy
was centered around their desire for control. More specifically, it stemmed from Pope
Boniface VIII believing that secular governments should not be able to tax the clergy,
or Church revenues without consent from the pope. This matter was not taken lightly,
and the pope issued a Papal Bull, the Clericis Laicos making it clear to the
surrounding monarchies,

E. I. du Pont de Nemours is an American chemical company that has recently acquired
the major oil company of Conoco Inc. and is becoming one of the largest chemical
manufacturers in the United States. Its financial conservatism has pushed Du Pont to
the forefront of the industry as its profitability soared, providing it with the liquidity
to readily finance its cash needs. But several competitive conditions posed a
challenge to its risk averse financial policy as the 1970 s was characteristic of a
declining level of industry demand and price, along with rising fuel prices and an
economic recession. These pressures now force Du Pont to source its financing

During the 1980s, Du Pont entered and won a bidding contest for Conoco, doubling
its size and significantly increasing its orientation toward undifferentiated commodity
products, but this move, however, was responded with negativity by the industry
analysts. The purchase of Conoco was financed through issuance of common stock
and a floating rated debt, propelling Du Pont s debt ratio from 20% to 40%,
downgrading its bond rating to AA, the first time in the company s history. With
declining oil prices hampering the the company s performance, and an economic
recession plaguing the chemical industry, its return on capital and earnings per share
fell dramatically.
Du Pont s financial policy had always been based on maximization of financial
flexibility. Taking to consideration the riskiness of Du Pont s businesses, its
competitive position and profitability had declined in the last 20 years. Moreover,
the firm is still forced to seek external financing each year for the next five years
(1983 1987) due to the continued high level of capital expenditures which are
considered non deferrable to redress the causes of poor performance. In view of the
importance and magnitude of the projected financing needs, the firm is concerned

Penelope s Role In The Odyssey
In the well known epic The Odyssey we follow the ancient hero Odysseus as his
faithful wife Penelope waits for his return to Ithaca. From the poem we know that
Penelope looked after their home and weeps for the day her husband to return alive
and no longer be tempted by other suitors to contemplate infidelity with her
marriage. This is all we know about Penelope during the epic since the story is more
focused on Odysseusbeing the hero. Only recently e have asked the idea of telling
the poem by the woman herself Penelope. An example of this thinking is found in
Margaret Atwood, The Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus where she
switched the importance of Odysseus and Penelope with Penelope and Odysseus .
However, instead of Atwood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Atwood states that the chorus of Maids is in part a tribute to the use of
the chorus in Greek tragedy, in which lowly characters comment on the main action
(Varagic and Irwin), the maids are playing a larger role in the play. While in Hades,
Penelope address her story of the Odyssey before her death, her maids, also in
Hades, haunts her for allowing her husband to hanged all twelve of her young
maids, we are the maids the ones you killed the ones you failed (Atwood). Along
the play, the maids are able to speak about their own past like as Penelope does and
as a result we learn that the maids had their troubles. However the maids represent
women from a lower class while Penelope remain in the upper position. This allows
the play to not any be in perspective of just Penelope by a larger group of women in
which the voices of Penelope and her Maids are heard by the audience (Ingersoll)
Sadly the play isn t celebrating the lives of women s story but their death by the
hands of Odysseus:
Of course, The Penelopiad, Atwood s feminist retelling of the legend of Odysseus s
leavetaking for the Trojan Wars and his eventual homecoming is, itself, full of

Dreams In The Priest s Tale
Medieval people were deeply interested in dreams and visions. Dreams were an
essential part of daily life, and people speculated about what they dreamed about.
They took from bible stories to speculate what those dreams were about. Because
of this, the medieval Dream Vision flowered from the period, as people generally
accepted that dreams could convey wisdom and knowledge to the reader. The Nun s
Priest Tale by Chaucer is a prime example of this genre, as it reinforces the
importance the dreams and how ignoring the dreams could have dire results.
The importance of some people s dreams caused them to change their former ways
of life, often helping them in the long run. In 1149 an Irish Knight goes to Cork, and

While Chanticleer is talking to Pertelote about how the dreams he believes are true,
he eventually thinks otherwise. Chanticleer says that woman is man s joy and
happiness, for when I feel at night your gentle side,. . .I am so filled with joy and
happiness / that I defy all visions and dreams (Chaucer 211). Because of Pertelote,
Chanticleer takes no warning to the possibility that what he dreamed might happen in
the future. Pertelote did not say anything about it, except that she said Chanticleer
should go back to sleep and not worry about what was to come, And fear no dream!
(Chaucer 207). Pertelote influenced Chanticleer to disregard the dream and go
back to sleep. And because Pertelote makes a big deal about living in the moment,
and not worrying what was to happen in the future, Chanticleer s dream becomes

Castles In Japan Research Paper
Castles in Japan were built for two main purposes. First, it was built as a defensive
platform. Daimyo (feudal lords) all over the country built these strongholds so they
could retreat during an attack. Both the castle itself and the grounds surrounding it
are fortified with numerous defenses. The main keep of the castlealso stored food and
weapons in case of prolonged battles.
A castle was constructed to display the daimyo s wealth and power as well. Of
course, the grander the castle, the stronger and wealthier the daimyo.
Japan s history is intimately intertwined with the history of castles. Castles have
their roots in defense built around the homes of warlords. Preceding the rise of
Nobunaga, Japan was divided into a great many small provinces each ruled by a
different warlord for nearly two centuries. The need for bigger and stronger ... Show

They evolved from the wooden fortress of earlier centuries to their best known form
in the 16th century. Castles in Japan were built to guard significant or strategic sites,
such as ports, river crossings, or crossroads. They almost always incorporated the
landscape into their defenses as well.
Although they were built to endure and used more stone in their construction than
most Japanese buildings, castles were still constructed primarily of wood. Many
were destroyed over the years, especially during the Sengoku (Warring States)
period (1467 1603). However, many were rebuilt later during the Sengoku period and
the following Edo period (1603 1867).
Today there are more than one hundred castles remain, or partially remain, in Japan. It
is estimated that there were once five thousand of them. Some castles, such as the
ones at Matsue and KЕЌchi (both built in 1611) exist in their original forms, not
having suffered any damage from sieges or other threats. In contrast, Hiroshima
Castle was destroyed in the atomic bombing, and was rebuilt in 1958 as a
The Role Of Female Power In Carmilla And Snow, Glass
Apples
Female power is suppressed by men in vampire literature. I will analyze the idea of
women treated as inferior by men through psychoanalysis mainly based on Freudian
concepts. The topics of psychoanalysis that I will be using to look at the texts are the
monstrous feminine , the castration complex, and masculine instinct. The two texts
that will be analyzed are the short stories Carmilla and Snow, Glass, Apples .
The short story Carmilla was written by Joseph LeFanu in 1871. This was during the
Victorian Era where strict laws of gender roles and sexuality were present. For
example, Being forward in the company of men suggested a worrying sexual appetite
(web p 1). This information is important to the story because the character ... Show

Carmilla rebels against Victorian society gender roles and this concept of representing
homosexuality through a vampire monster shows that men fear women showing
power through sexuality and feel the need to destroy it.
The short story Snow, Glass, Apples was written by Neil Gaiman in 1994. The
story is a re telling of the fairy tale Snow White from the step mother s perspective.
Gaiman is considered a feminist writer and this is shown in Snow, Glass, Apples
where he brings awareness to the removal of women s power by men in vampire
text. In 1990, third wave feminism had just begun. This wave involved eschewing
victimization and defining feminine beauty for themselves as subjects, not as objects
of a sexist patriarchy (Rampton 1). This differs from Carmilla because LeFanu
supports oppression of females while Gaiman is a feminist aiming to expose
stereotypes of gender roles.
Female sexuality is condemned in Snow, Glass, Apples by displaying women who
only take interest in pleasuring men, and not themselves. In the story, the queen
talks about her husband and says when he wanted me he would send for me, and I
would go to him, and pleasure him, and take my pleasure with him (Gaiman 2).
Also, when the stepmother becomes Queen and leads her people, it is because the
King died and not because she earned it. It is provocative that the Queen leads her
people alone because she is in control of her people, and does not receive a man s
insight. When the Lord of the

The Operations Superintendent would have OPCON and TACON as well. Making
small changes to how we operate as an organization to become more effective in
daily operations would be TACON. The flight chief is the best example of TACON
as they run the flight who is conducting the daily operations. They are told to
conduct guardmount, but they are not told in what order they conduct their briefings
or what type of information needs to be briefed every day. They also assign who

important post and who will work the gates. Below is a flow chart to help you

The Red October was a seizure of state power instrumental in the larger Russian
Revolution of 1917. It occurred with an armed coup traditionally dated to 25 October
1917. It followed and capitalized on the February Revolution of the same year, which
eradicated the Tsarist injustice and ingrained a provisional government built
predominantly of former nobles and aristocrats. The urban workers began to organize
into councils wherein revolutionaries criticized the provisional government and its
actions. The Bolshevikparty was heavily supported by the soviets. After the Congress

How To Write A Humorous Wedding Speech
Wedding Speech Delivered by the Groom
Before I start I have to ask... Do you like my outfit?... you see, I asked the tailor for
Versace... but he thought I said Liberace !
Ladies, Gentlemen, Friends, Relatives and any stray pedestrians who may have
wandered in. On behalf of my wife and I... or as I prefer to call her my most recent
ex girlfriend , welcome to our wedding. I hope you re all enjoying yourselves on
this special day. Its great to see you all and I can honestly say it would have been
rubbish without you. It would also have been a lot cheaper without you, but that s
beside the point.

And also for all the support she has given us over the years helping us find the
deposit for our house, for one thanks mum.
Thanks very much also to Aunty Anna for making our wedding cake. I can only
imagine the time and effort that went into making it and it looks absolutely delicious
beautiful. So thank you very much.
Talking of delicious beautiful (pause look briefly towards bride, then towards
bridesmaids, then...) the ushers Paul and Patrick, are neither, but they have done a
great job today. I felt they leant a certain nightclub doorman respectability to the
whole occasion and I admired the way they searched the ladies handbags going into
the church with such discretion and subtlety. Thank you boys.
Thank you to our readers, for their beautiful readings. I felt that like Will Young
from Pop Idol, they took each piece and made it their own . They also did a much
better job than Gareth Gates would have done!
Talking of Will Gareth: Talented, young, attractive, gay icons... the Best Man,
Craig, is none of those things... except of course he is a gay icon. Craig has been a
great help today, calming me down, walking me round the block and, as he works in
the pharmaceuticals industry, supplying me with his latest 2 drugs: an new anti
incontinance drug and Viagra. I can confirm that the former works well, I m shaking
like a leaf standing here, but my trousers are perfectly dry! And as for the latter, I can

Dracula And The Count Dracula By Bram Stoker
Vampires were once known as a creepy monster that everyone wanted to kill. The
book series Twilight Saga has greatly changed just about every stereotypical concept
that vampires were once known for. Myths about vampire s date back as far as
Ancient Greece. Stories passed down through the ages before bringing us one of the
most recognizable vampires Count Dracula. The book Count Dracula by Bram
Stoker in 1897 is the start of the horror monster fiction that traditional vampires are
known to be. Vampires are no longer monsters that have human like qualities.
Vampires have transformed themselves from creepy creatures that we once feared
into a creature passes for a typical human. In Twilight, a new beautiful class of
vampirehas entered the world, one that appears to live a semi normal life. The
father figure has a career as a doctor. In addition, teenagers go to high school to
keep up the charade of normality. These characters have always tried to behave as
normal people since their creation. It is necessary for them to fit into the local
population and not draw any undesired attention to themselves. This new class of
vampires take pride in being able to co exist with humans by only feeding upon
animals instead of the blood of humans. The only consistency is that vampires drink
blood as part of their diet. (Brazeale) The vampires in Twilight do share some similar
qualities with those of other vampire novels, such as the Vampire Chronicles or
Dracula. Both versions of
Social Inequalities In Northern Ireland
Social inequalities are issues that have been occurring for a significant period of
time and are continuing to be a serious issue within contemporary society. One of the
most significant social inequalities within the North and South of Ireland is religion.
Religion is a vital part of Ireland s history and due to this history, it still very much
exists within society and continues to be a social inequality. The Northern Ireland
conflict, also known as The Troubles, was a war based on political violence, low
intensity armed conflict and political deadlock within the six north eastern counties
of Irelandthat formed part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern
Ireland which lasted almost 30 years (The Irish Story, 2017). It was a conflict
between political actors including the Provisional Irish Republican Army that fought
against the British Army, Royal Ulster Constabulary and the Ulster Defence
Regiment (The Irish Story, 2017). Dillenburger, K et al, (2007) stated during the
early phase of the Troubles, shootings and bombings were nearly daily occurrences,
with approximately 3,600 people dying as a result of The Troubles.
However, the Troubles represent a fascinating part of Ireland s history with a large
number of deaths, injuries, and destruction but also a huge political and social
change (McKittrick and McVea 2002). By 1998 the Good Friday Agreement was
signed by both Nationalist and Unionists as a peace process within Northern Ireland.

In May, 1944 Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Fortin of Falmouth received notification from
the War Department that their son Corp. Walter E. Fortin, missing since November
26, 1943, was officially listed as dead. In just over a year they would receive
notification from the Navy Department their second son, SF 3/c Sylvester A. Fortin
Jr. died of his wounds. On Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1944 the HMT Rhona
along with four other transports steamed from the port of Oran, Algeria to rendezvous
with a convoy passing through the Mediterranean Sea. Rhona ,an 8600 ton British
troop transport was loaded with about 2000 American troops destined for new duty

From April 1 5 , Marathon s assault craft delivered elements of the 1st Marine
Division to the beaches of Okinawa. On April 5, Marathon began a return trip to San
Francisco, making stops at Saipan and Pearl Harbor. After a re supply in San
Francisco, Marathon returned to Buckner Bay, Okinawa. On Sunday, July 22, 1945,
at around 1:30 a.m. a one man, Japanese suicide submarine, human torpedo , slipped
into Buckner Bay and slammed into the anchored Marathon...detonating on contact.
The explosion ripped through a port side berthing compartment of the construction
and repair gangs, killing and wounding many of the men while they slept. The repair
crews fought hard and were able to save the ship, despite suffering heavy casualties
in the explosion. One of the men lost to the repair crew was Shipfitter 3/c Sylvester
A. Fortin Jr. Sylvester sustained multiple wounds in the initial explosion and died
later that day.

Current ratio in 2010=$495269/238055=2.08
Current ratio in 2009= $417,233/ 106,456=3.9
There was a reduction in the current ratio of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters from
2009 to 2010 from in 3.9 in 2009 2.4 in 2010 and 2.08 in 2010.this shows that the
liquidity of the firm is has dropped and then improved over the three years. The firm
can able to pay its short term obligations as they fall due since the current ratio
exceed 1and therefore quite stable.

Working capital in 2011 = $ 1131527 471374=$660153

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is more efficient than other firms in the industry as
it has stable ratios that have an upward trend.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is efficient in utilizing its assets to generate sales
as shown by the increase from $0.92 in 2009 to $1.93 in 2010.
I would consider investing in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. This is because
based on the ratio analysis the firm is not insolvent since it can meet its debts
obligations as they fall due. Also the trend in the financial statements indicate a
general increase in the value of assets hence a favorable investment. Also the
working capital has increased over the three years. The current assets have continued
to be more than the current liabilities over the three years. Therefore the increase in
working capital reflects that the firm has improved its ability to pay its current
liabilities over the three years making it an ideal company to invest
Disease And Corruption In Raymond Chandler s The Big
Sleep
In a world delineated through images of disease and corruption the use of a hero
becomes all the more necessary. In Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep, the narrator
associates the protagonist, Philip Marlowe, with a knight. In more ways than one,
Chandler establishes that Marlowe has a strict code of conduct synonymous to the
rules of chivalry. For example, he resists the temptations of lust whenever
Sternwood s daughters attempt to seduce him, displaying a certain medieval like
ideal of courtly love; like how he explains to Vivian, [k]issing is nice, but your father
didn t hire me to sleep with you, his job is to extract information in order to fulfill his
ultimate goal, that is, of finding the truth (Chandler 151). Moreover, this metaphorical

Towards the final chapters an evil spirit manifesting itself in the form of her
insanitary controls Carmen, recreating the damsel in distress scenario, in which
Marlowe assumes the role of the knight and attempts to rescue her. However, after
Carmen tries to kill Marlowe for resisting her sexual advances, which is how
Regan died, he relays to Vivian that he cannot save her sister from her mental
illness, so she needs leave town with her sister who is to be treated. Knowing that
no one will receive justice for the crimes they ve committed Marlowe confesses, I
was part of the nastiness now... But the old man didn t have to be. He could lie
quiet in his canopied bed, with his bloodless hands folded on the sheet, waiting...And
in a little while he too, like Rusty Regan, would be sleeping the big sleep (230 231).
Since Marlowe failed to save Carmen once again, he compromises his chivalric code
a second time so that she could find treatment, but more importantly, so that the
General would never find out. Sparing the General of what could be potentially
devastating news for him, reinforces the idea of how Chandler s theme is dismantled
by the detectives emotions. Marlowe displays the ultimate act of dishonesty, which is
chivalry, by withholding information the General has asked for. Marlowe s corruption

  • 2. The Effect Of Reaction Time On Cyclohexanone Results and discussion 4.1. Polymerization mechanism In base catalyzed aldol condensation of cyclohexanone (A), KOH or NaOH acts as a non nucleophilic agent. In presence of base, cyclohexanone initially turns to enolate by losing О±пЂhydrogen. The formed enolate then reacts with the carbonyl group of the second molecule and leads to the formation of aldol intermediate. The polymerization reaction proceeds further by the reaction between the carbonyl group of third molecule and the activated methylene group of the second molecule. In the present study, the effect of reaction parameters on conversion of cyclohexanone and the product properties was extensively analyzed. The most probable dimeric (monomer repeating unit (n) =1) and polymeric (n ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... = 110 п‚°C, A/K ratio = 0.2. **VL = viscous liquid. Fig. 3. Effect of reaction time on (a) Monomer conversion, (b) Hydroxyl value, and (c) Iodine value of products (reaction conditions: temp. = 110 п‚°C, A/K ratio = 0.2). The result (Table 2) shows that there is no significant change in acid values of the products with reaction time. The average acid value of the product samples is around 0.29. The analysis shows that solubility of the products in MTO decreases with the increase of reaction time. The reason for the gradual decrease in solubility may be due to the increase in average molecular weight of the products with time. The measured solubility of 20 hrs sample is 65 wt%, whereas the solubility of monomer is around 92 wt%. The data also shows that viscosity of the products increases with the increase of reaction time. Both the phenomena (i.e. decrease of solubility and increase of viscosity with time) clearly indicates that the extent of polymerization reaction increases with reaction time. The average value of moisture content in the products is 1.82

Pop Culture Research Paper If you take a look at our culture today, the first thing you will notice is that most everyone has some kind of device whether it is a laptop, ipad, or simply a smart phone. If you decided to do a little more digging, it is likely that you will notice the web browser history includes videos searched on Youtube. That s right, Youtube is used by 1 billion active users every month; one out of every two people who have access to the Internet! We use Youtube for everyday things such as looking up how to solve a trigonometry math problem, watching the 2016 AMA Awards, or watching how to make delicious homemade cookies! It has certainly changed the past twelve years drastically, with people all over the world gaining access to almost any video available! Being an aspect of popular culture, YouTube helps diffuse new opinions into popular culture; without it, the diffusion of innovations, videos, or catching up with the latest news would be virtually impossible! One may ask, how did this life changing websitecome to be? On February 14, 2005, in San Mateo, CA, fellow coworkers Jawed Karim, Chad Hurley, and Steve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While exemplifying traits of hierarchical diffusion, memes are an important aspect of pop culture. In fact, a humorous yet famous meme was the Michael Phelps meme , in which Chad Le Clo was standing in front of Michael in the waiting room and Michael was giving him the stare. Normally, these memes come from short clips from Youtube videos or live events broadcasted via Youtube. Some examples of viral memes were Charlie Bit my Finger and Star Wars Kid . Video games are equally popular in this culture due to it being the day in age where video games dominate teen s minds. A Let s Play Video is a clear example of how video games and popular culture go together. Advantages and Disadvantages Perhaps the most significant capability of GDI over more direct methods of accessing the hardware, Wikipedia (2005), is its scaling capabilities, and abstraction of target devices. Using GDI, it is very easy to draw on multiple devices, such as a screen and a printer, and expect proper reproduction in each case. This capability is at the center of all WYSIWYG applications for Microsoft Windows. One of the biggest advantages of the X Window, Lockergnome (1996 2005), approach to GUIs is that X is completely independent of the core operating system. In other operating systems, a GUI crash requires a system restart. With X, the GUI can be stopped, started, changed, and restarted without so much as denting the underlying processes of the OS. Not addressed in this paper is the Windows Graphics Foundation, which is the next version of Microsoft s DirectX application programming interface (API). Games and

  • 6. Zombie Lore Analysis Since the modern zombie s inception in George Romero s Night of the Living Dead (1968), the famous creature has consistently explored humanity s innate desire to control others as well as commenting on humans losing their humanity. The genre has evolved rapidly throughout the decades, transitioning from voodoo culture tropes to a zombiespin on Richard Matheson s I Am Legend (1954), and eventually, to satirical and sociopolitical commentary. The concepts of superiority and the loss of virtue are definitely applicable to our most basic state of human nature and are most effectively displayed in zombie lore. The Loss of Humanity and the Flourish of Desire In Zombie Lore Exercising dominance over another is a fairly prevalent theme in zombie culture. In Suzanne Lea s article Modern Zombie Makers: Enacting the Ancient Impulse to Control and Possess Another, she compares zombie lore, culture, and psychological boundaries to the horrific atrocities committed by infamous serial killerJeffrey Dahmer. Lea s summarization of the crimes of Dahmer are very disturbing to the average individual, yet when viewed from a natural instinct perspective, the murderer s intentions make a little more sense. Dahmer craved possession, superiority, and dominance so much that he kidnapped, tortured, raped, and mutilated many innocent people. According to Lea s article, Dahmer attempted to create a living zombie that would submit to his desires, yet avoid any attempt to

Alcohol is the number one abused drug, while marijuana is number one among illegal drugs. While alcohol remains legal, and marijuana illegal, this does not necessarily mean that alcohol is better for you. There have been many arguments where people suggest that marijuana should be legal because alcohol is more deadly. On the other hand, there are alcoholics who would tell a pothead that smoking weed is bad for you. Both substances are very bad for your health and should not be heavily used by anyone. Alcohol impairs judgment and vision, and causes speeding and reckless driving. On the other hand, there has been debate over the effect of marijuana on driving. One study by a computer software company reported that people who smoked a small amount of marijuana drove faster and with fewer collisions in a driving computer game. Another study said that marijuana causes abnormally slow driving, proneness to distraction, and increases the time it takes to react, therefore greatly impairs your ability to drive. Long term effects of alcohol are liver cirrhosis, stomach ailments, impotence, vitamin deficiency, increased stroke risk, decreased mental performance, heart disease, peptic ulcers, hepatitis, and various forms of cancer. Alcohols effects on the brain are loss of coordination, poor judgment, slowed reflexes, distorted vision, memory lapses, and even blackouts. Chinua Crude Prices And Its Implications On India FALL IN CRUDE PRICES ITS IMPLICATIONS ON INDIA Introduction: The presence of crude oil was first discovered in China way back in 3rd or 4th century A.D. The presence of oil in India was discovered in late 1889 at Digboi in Assam where the first crude oil refinery was set up in 1901. India is not among the major oil producers and that is why it generally depends on imports from other countries. The largest crude oil producing country is Saudi Arabia followed by Russia and America. The extent of the commodity s importance was shown to the world when the world s strongest economies were shaken up as the oil prices shot up in 1973 and 1979, after this the whole oil sector was nationalized in India. Currently, crude oil alone is responsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main reasons is the mismatch between the demand and supply of oil. Due to sluggish pace of global economies, the demand has been reducing. The other more important reason is tremendous increase in production levels by the oil extraction using Shale Gas formations in wells of Texas and North Dakota. When the oil prices were at $110 115/barrel, they drilled oil from shale gas formations which was earlier considered unviable due to low profit margins. This drilling has resulted into a supply glut which is further helped by Saudi Arabia and OPEC who are reluctant to decrease production. Source: www.wtrg.com It is said that OPEC as a cartel has been unfruitful is maintaining the price levels. Some say that OPEC and Saudi Arabia are purposely not relenting to reduce the production as oil production from Shale Gas formations is much more expensive than oil production at Saudi Arabia (~$5 6/barrel) which is the lowest in the world. OPEC and Saudi Arabia hope to wipe out the Shale Gas producers by the continued fall of crude oil price levels to less than $50/barrel after which it is believed that it would be unviable for the Shale Gas producers to continue. Impact of the fall for India Crude Oil prices affect the life of the average human being in India in multiple ways from food prices to transport costs. It would seem that falling crude oil prices is great news which couldn t
  • 10. Theme Of Marriage In Merchant Of Venice In Elizabethan Society during the time in which William Shakespeare wrote The Merchant of Venice, many marriages were arranged by the parents of the betrothed couple to ensure the transfer of wealth as opposed to assuring true love. Once married, the woman was expected to be subservient to her husband and not control any matters of the estate. Although not necessarily written as a stance on women s position in society, it is from this perspective that Shakespeare wrote The Merchant of Venicelaying down an underlying theme of marriagefor wealth within the play. Love in William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice is bartered like a tradable commodity in order to gain money, status, and resources. The social norm during the time period was for fathers to marry their daughters off to respectable men who could be trusted with a family s wealth after it was passed down. In the case of Portia in William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, her father is still determined to choose who she will marry, even from beyond the grave. By setting up the casket contest, Portia s father is ensuring the commodity, Portia s hand in marriage and undying love, will go to who he would have approved of to court his daughter. By obtaining the commodity in question, the suitors would also obtain the vast amount of wealth held by Portia s family. One suitor in particular, the Prince of Morocco, best exemplifies this when he is deciding what casket to choose; Let s see once more this saying

How do we know how to accept that loss, and go on with our own life as if nothing had happened? As a young girl when I started growing into my teen years. I never once worried about the what if s in life. I was too busy enjoying life with all the new things it had in store for me, as I was becoming a teenager. I felt like nothing could harm me, or the familyI loved. To me my family was invincible. The bad things we would hear about in life like death, or an illness only happened to those around us. I never really wondered why, but I felt my family and myself were always safe. I went from day to day not realizing the impact that the death of a loved one would have on the remaining family members. According to my friends, I was the spoiled girl next door. My parents made sure I had everything I needed or wanted, for the most part I was happy. I had no idea that my life as I knew it was about to change. It all started one Wednesday evening. I had noticed that my dad was home extra early from work. I could see the troubled look on his face as him and my mother went into the den and shut the door. • 14. Definition Of Anguish By Sartre In a general ideology, anguish is synonymous with distress, suffering, and/or pain. However, existentialists say that man is in anguish and, according to Sartre, a man who commits himself, and who realizes that he is not only the individual that he chooses to be, but also a legislator choosing at the same time what humanity as a whole should be, cannot help but be aware of his own full and profound responsibility is in anguish (25). This man in anguish not only is responsible for what and who he is, but what surrounds him and how he perceives those things to be. Sartre also writes The anguish we are concerned with is not the kind that could lead to quietism or inaction. It is anguish pure and simple, of the kind experienced by all who... However, if this voice turns into many voices, or not the voice of the individual, the situation becomes problematic. Another example Sartre uses, a psychiatric patient, asks, Or if I hear voices, what proof is there that they come from heaven and not from hell, or from my own subconscious, or some pathological condition? (26). All of her questions lend themselves to the existentialist tradition of questioning circumstances. She uses the existence of a condition to question her own. However, she cannot prove these voices exist. So if she can t prove their existence, how can she prove any existence? It could be that this sort of thinking too much is a kind of curse thrust upon those who choose to think about their existence. In any case, this internal voice (or voices) can be quite harmful to the mental stability of an individual. This further challenges the idea freedom in that this patient is not free from her
  • 15. Social Media Negative Essay Distracted from distraction by distraction. is a quote from T.S. Elliot that best describes what I see in a world obsessed with social media. Have you ever seen a family or a couple ignoring each other because they re glued to their electronic devices while eating at a restaurant? How about a concert where a sea of fans direct their cell phones toward the performer rather than taking in the experience? This obsession with technology has wedged itself in between families and genuine interactions. If we do not open our eyes to the damaging effects of this phenomenon, our future generations may go so far down the rabbit hole they may never return. Many people support this view, like Sam Woolfe, who argues, Depression, addiction, and social interaction are psychologically damaging aspects of Facebook. Holly B. Shakya agrees by stating that her research results show that, the use of Facebook was negatively associated with overall well being. On the flip side, Nicole B. Ellison believes that there are many benefits of Facebook and social media. I believe social technology is overwhelmingly destructive because it is addictive, causes isolation, and reduces overall well being. Social media sites, like Facebook, are addictive and causes may people to become reclusive. Citing evidence from a Harvard University fMRI scan study that shows that self disclosure of information is essentially rewarding, Sam Woolfe suggests that social media is addictive and causes social isolation. These fMRI scans are able to show the release of dopamine when individuals share information about themselves. This neurotransmitter, also labeled the pleasure chemical , has a primary role in addiction and is associated with sexual gratification, coffee, nicotine, and gambling. Like any addiction, it can lead to social isolation and depression because it can detract from face to face interactions. Authentic social interactions are necessary to develop and maintain social skills like conversation, recognizing tone of voice, and body language. Our species is social and cyber interactions are not a substitute for authentic interactions. The concern becomes what about the children exposed to these faux interactions before fully developing
  • 16. Utopian City Of The Omelas Bentham, credited for founding the utilitarian theory, believes that pleasure and pain govern us all. He claims that we are naturally drawn to pleasure and repulsed by pain , meaning that as humans, it is most likely that we rather feel good. He also is saying that we tend to act negatively towards pain as well. I believe he is correct because this is what our body naturally does. Rarely does a person find joy in being in pain. When it comes to the utopian city of the Omelas, everything is based around happiness. They are described as very intelligent people who are very mature. A lot of the luxury stuff and technology is not present in their city. They only have things they feel are necessary. Happiness caused by pain and evil are not allowed. Bentham does not believe in Hinduism because he believes it is not good to avoid pain and does not like the fact that they only see their happiness as the only true happiness. The relationships, knights, and weapons seen in the movie do not all add up to the way things were during the Second Crusade. Hollywood movie directors are in it for the money. Americans are becoming divided, our words filled with hatred, our hearts with fear of what the future holds for our country. With the recent shootings in Las Vegas and Sutherland Springs, people are looking to blame political parties or the government. With the take a knee protests in the National Football League, people are demanding that players give respect to the country that gave them freedom. With the closing of the doors at Lakewood Church during Hurricane Harvey, people are criticizing the hypocrisy they see in Christianity. And all the while, we stand back and listen, thinking to ourselves, God, please change their hearts. Give us peace in this land. But hearts will not be changed if not prompted to change. Our land will not be given peace without peacemakers taking action. We are called to be lights in this world, a city on a hill. The problems that plague our nation are not entirely because of the evils that are prevailing. Part of the blame is on us, on me. When we sit silently in the wake of violence and hatred, we are letting evil win. The problem lies in the closed lips of the Christians who do not proclaim the hope that we find in JesusChrist. In staying quiet, we are keeping the opportunity of knowing Christ from those around us. But what can we do? In a country that claims freedom of religion and speech, but seems to suppress those who

Those are all similar styles that can be park of online learning or most of all the traditional style of learning. So what would you choose? There are many similarities when it comes to traditional and online learning but it s important to know there are just as many differences between the two. When it comes to the two learning stylesthere are always the different distractions, learning methods, and always the occasional getting in the way of work. Let s start with talking about online learning. There are about 6.1 Million people enrolled in online courses according to an article written by Steven Kolowich. (I was one of them my first semester.) Why take an online course you ask? Well sometimes you don t have enough time out of the day to be able to drive up to the college and sit in a classroom for hours at a time. With taking online courses it gives you more time but it does cause a lot of distractions. You re going to be doing a lot of your work at home. This means whatever you have going on around your house is a given distraction. Whether it s a TV playing in the background, a dog that won t sit still, or of course the route y toddler you have playing with blocks as you type this essay! There s also different learning methods you will experience while taking online courses. Almost all of the work will be in front of your computer screen, (unless you re
  • 23. The Importance Of Communication At The End Of Life By... The article The importance of communication in sustaining hope at the end of life by Maureen Hawthorn, breaks down different types of communication skills and tools health professionals encounter while working in a palliative care environment. These types of communication skills and tools Hawthorn discusses were therapeutic communication, holistic person centered care, communication skills, poor communication, the six step SPIKES protocol, hope and the fostering hope. Therapeutic communication is the first communication tool Hawthorn discusses. Hawthorn explains that therapeutic communication allows care providers to get a better understanding of how patients convey thoughts, emotions, ideas and anxieties. By doing this provider must be able to as sess a patient s perception, obtain a patient s invitation, and respond to a patient by expressing empa thy. Hawthorn believes that this process should be done verbally and non verbally, allowing patients to better understand themselves and their situation. Therapeutic communication skills for health pro fessionals are important because it allows patients the opportunities to communicate openly and al lows them to feel less anxiety and more hopeful during their time of needs. The next tool Hawthorn discusses is that health care providers can use, in a palliative care setting, a holistic person centered approach. This means mot only caring for the physical well being of a patient, but also their psychological, social, and

Many of these signs and symptoms can be similar to depression. It is important for parents, teachers, and physicians to be aware of these symptoms in adolescents. This tension had built over years and years of each trying to become top dog, and be the one true power within the empire. However, during this time national monarchies began to show up, such as England and France. These monarchies outside the empire, were out of its control began to gain their own power. With their newfound power, came even more conflict with the Church. One of the biggest conflicts was between the popein the Empire and the King of France. These conflicts eventually led to the period of time known as the Avignon Papacy, which lasted about seventy years. The Avignon Papacy was the time during which the pope was moved from Rome to Avignon, just across the river from France. This marked a huge change within the empire, and had several important impacts. These impacts include a loss in Church prestige, the loss of the Roman identity of the Church, as well as a loss of faith in the Church by the people within the empire. The conflict between the Church and the French Monarchy was centered around their desire for control. More specifically, it stemmed from Pope Boniface VIII believing that secular governments should not be able to tax the clergy, or Church revenues without consent from the pope. This matter was not taken lightly, and the pope issued a Papal Bull, the Clericis Laicos making it clear to the surrounding monarchies,

This is all we know about Penelope during the epic since the story is more focused on Odysseusbeing the hero. Only recently e have asked the idea of telling the poem by the woman herself Penelope. Daimyo (feudal lords) all over the country built these strongholds so they could retreat during an attack. Both the castle itself and the grounds surrounding it are fortified with numerous defenses. The main keep of the castlealso stored food and weapons in case of prolonged battles. A castle was constructed to display the daimyo s wealth and power as well. Of course, the grander the castle, the stronger and wealthier the daimyo. Japan s history is intimately intertwined with the history of castles. The two texts that will be analyzed are the short stories Carmilla and Snow, Glass, Apples . The short story Carmilla was written by Joseph LeFanu in 1871. Carmilla rebels against Victorian society gender roles and this concept of representing homosexuality through a vampire monster shows that men fear women showing power through sexuality and feel the need to destroy it. The short story Snow, Glass, Apples was written by Neil Gaiman in 1994. The story is a re telling of the fairy tale Snow White from the step mother s perspective. Gaiman is considered a feminist writer and this is shown in Snow, Glass, Apples where he brings awareness to the removal of women s power by men in vampire text. In 1990, third wave feminism had just begun. This wave involved eschewing victimization and defining feminine beauty for themselves as subjects, not as objects of a sexist patriarchy (Rampton 1). This differs from Carmilla because LeFanu supports oppression of females while Gaiman is a feminist aiming to expose stereotypes of gender roles. Female sexuality is condemned in Snow, Glass, Apples by displaying women who only take interest in pleasuring men, and not themselves. In the story, the queen talks about her husband and says when he wanted me he would send for me, and I would go to him, and pleasure him, and take my pleasure with him (Gaiman 2). Also, when the stepmother becomes Queen and leads her people, it is because the King died and not because she earned it. It is provocative that the Queen leads her people alone because she is in control of her people, and does not receive a man s insight. When the Lord of the

  • 43. Dracula And The Count Dracula By Bram Stoker Vampires were once known as a creepy monster that everyone wanted to kill. The book series Twilight Saga has greatly changed just about every stereotypical concept that vampires were once known for. Myths about vampire s date back as far as Ancient Greece. Stories passed down through the ages before bringing us one of the most recognizable vampires Count Dracula. The book Count Dracula by Bram Stoker in 1897 is the start of the horror monster fiction that traditional vampires are known to be. Vampires are no longer monsters that have human like qualities. Vampires have transformed themselves from creepy creatures that we once feared into a creature passes for a typical human. In Twilight, a new beautiful class of vampirehas entered the world, one that appears to live a semi normal life. The father figure has a career as a doctor. In addition, teenagers go to high school to keep up the charade of normality. These characters have always tried to behave as normal people since their creation. It is necessary for them to fit into the local population and not draw any undesired attention to themselves. This new class of vampires take pride in being able to co exist with humans by only feeding upon animals instead of the blood of humans. The only consistency is that vampires drink blood as part of their diet. (Brazeale) The vampires in Twilight do share some similar qualities with those of other vampire novels, such as the Vampire Chronicles or Dracula. Both versions of

Social Inequalities In Northern Ireland Social inequalities are issues that have been occurring for a significant period of time and are continuing to be a serious issue within contemporary society. One of the most significant social inequalities within the North and South of Ireland is religion. Religion is a vital part of Ireland s history and due to this history, it still very much exists within society and continues to be a social inequality. The Northern Ireland conflict, also known as The Troubles, was a war based on political violence, low intensity armed conflict and political deadlock within the six north eastern counties of Irelandthat formed part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which lasted almost 30 years (The Irish Story, 2017). It was a conflict between political actors including the Provisional Irish Republican Army that fought against the British Army, Royal Ulster Constabulary and the Ulster Defence Regiment (The Irish Story, 2017). Dillenburger, K et al, (2007) stated during the early phase of the Troubles, shootings and bombings were nearly daily occurrences, with approximately 3,600 people dying as a result of The Troubles. However, the Troubles represent a fascinating part of Ireland s history with a large number of deaths, injuries, and destruction but also a huge political and social change (McKittrick and McVea 2002). By 1998 the Good Friday Agreement was signed by both Nationalist and Unionists as a peace process within Northern Ireland. Research carried out

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is efficient in utilizing its assets to generate sales as shown by the increase from $0.92 in 2009 to $1.93 in 2010. I would consider investing in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. This is because based on the ratio analysis the firm is not insolvent since it can meet its debts obligations as they fall due. Also the trend in the financial statements indicate a general increase in the value of assets hence a favorable investment. Also the working capital has increased over the three years. The current assets have continued to be more than the current liabilities over the three years. Therefore the increase in working capital reflects that the firm has improved its ability to pay its current liabilities over the three years making it an ideal company to invest
  • 47. Disease And Corruption In Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep In a world delineated through images of disease and corruption the use of a hero becomes all the more necessary. In Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep, the narrator associates the protagonist, Philip Marlowe, with a knight. In more ways than one, Chandler establishes that Marlowe has a strict code of conduct synonymous to the rules of chivalry. For example, he resists the temptations of lust whenever Sternwood s daughters attempt to seduce him, displaying a certain medieval like ideal of courtly love; like how he explains to Vivian, [k]issing is nice, but your father didn t hire me to sleep with you, his job is to extract information in order to fulfill his ultimate goal, that is, of finding the truth (Chandler 151). He could lie quiet in his canopied bed, with his bloodless hands folded on the sheet, waiting...And in a little while he too, like Rusty Regan, would be sleeping the big sleep (230 231). Since Marlowe failed to save Carmen once again, he compromises his chivalric code a second time so that she could find treatment, but more importantly, so that the General would never find out. Sparing the General of what could be potentially devastating news for him, reinforces the idea of how Chandler s theme is dismantled by the detectives emotions. Marlowe displays the ultimate act of dishonesty, which is chivalry, by withholding information the General has asked for. Marlowe s corruption
