Lately, being dress coded has led to kids being sent home or, kids having to change

targeted towards girls or, limit their freedom of expression? Or, how teachers and
staff label girls as distractions? The dress code implies that boys can t stop
themselves from looking at girls bodies, so, it s the girls fault when boys can t pay

Descartes Vs Anselm
The existence of God has been in question and argued amongst people for who
knows how long. It has troubled mankind for thousands of years. Many philosophers
have tried their best to prove that there may or may not be a God. Rene Descartes
and Saint Anselm are two philosophers that each had their own proofs for the
existenceof God. I will be looking at the similarities, differences, and the persuasion
of their proofs.
Often known as the father of modern philosophy or modern thought, Rene
Descartes came up with proofs to prove the existence of God in his Meditations on
First Philosophy. His proof(s) of the existence of God are based on the compilation

In Anselm s Proslogion, Anselm aimed to prove God s existence without the aid of
Scripture but he he still used references from Scripture, which I find kind of ironic.
He attempted to create an argument that needed nothing else for proof that would
declare that God truly exists. He further explains the purpose set forth in his
argument. The purpose was for Anselm, to raise his mind to the contemplation of
God and seeking to understand what he believes. According to Anselm, God is
defined as the being than which no greater can be conceived. This is how Anselm
defines the meaning of God in his own terms. In order to believe that God exists, one
must come to an understanding on what and who God is. Anselm attempted to put
together the definition of God in such an abstract way to understand in order to show
that God truly exists as a supreme being.
From looking at both arguments, Descartes philosophical theory on the existence
of God is quite similar and seems based upon Anselm s theory. Both philosophers
proofs follow along the lines of: (1)Our idea of God is of a perfect being, (2) it is
more perfect to exist than not to exist, (3)therefore, God must exist. However, it is
difficult to tell at times where one ends and the other one begins. Descartes makes the
same logical constructions, although in a different order, to arrive at Anselm s

School is in session! However, it is not the students who are in need of instruction, but
the teachers! That is the message found in the infamous and controversial letter to the
Hebrews , one of the newest documents from the growing religion known as
Christianity. According to the writer, the Christians that he is writing to (those who
converted from Judaism) should be teachers, but are instead the ones needing
instruction. This Christian religion, known as the church of Christ , is experiencing
rapid growth despite the large amount of opposition it is facing. It seems that this is
largely due because of the concerted effort that the Christians are making to teach

These people should be growing, but instead they are still as small and as weak in
the faith as they were years ago when they were added the Lord s church. This is
not how it should be! They should already understand that basics of faith, the
resurrection, and these other fundamental doctrines, but we re still having to teach
them on these very things. That s the message that the writer of Hebrews was
trying to get across. In short, these people need to grow up! Having identified this
problem, the Hebrew letter was an attempt to solve this problem. By reminding these
babes of these basic doctrines of the church of Christ, he hoped to be able to move
on to discuss greater things. It remains to be seen whether this will actually solve the
problem.
The Jews, who are very much opposed to the Christians, seem to be hoping that this
problem is a sign of the beginning of the church of Christ s fall. If there s this much
conflict within their own body, a local Rabbi said, then it s only matter of time before
the whole thing comes crashing down!
Will Christianity be able to pass this test, or will they flunk out? Only time will
