Classroom blogging provides benefits for students, parents, and schools. It allows for writing with purpose, connecting and collaborating, and being informational. Student benefits include enhanced peer interaction, writing skills, discussions, and cross-curricular learning. Parents benefit from being informed, improved student attitude and technology skills, and open communication. Schools see increased research skills, effective writing, problem solving, and reading through classroom blogging. Teachers must get administration and parent approval, introduce blogging, and provide instruction to students.

- Some would ask, what is classroom blogging? It is an effective way of communicating with a purpose in mind. Whether you are responding to text that is read, or writing to begin a conversation, blogging is a very useful tool. Not only can students connect with students in their classroom, but they can work collaboratively with others. Teachers can use blogging to communicate with students as well as parents. Parents can be in the know about what is happening in their child's classroom.
- The benefits of blogging in the classroom for students is endless. When students are motivated to have peer interaction through writing they feel empowered. When there is classroom discussion, they may not always feel comfortable responding, however with blogging they can take time to thoughtfully write a reflective response for others to comment on. Student's writing skills can be enhanced by using blogging to write across the curriculum. Writing is more effective when incorporated through other domains. Practice makes perfect.
- When a classroom keeps a blog parents can have access and keep up with anything that is happening. They will always know assignments, expectations, and be able to view what their child is working on in class. Their child will have a healthy attitude toward school as they are allowed to express themselves through writing. As students become familiar with the audience they are writing for, they will enhance their technology skills and it will become apparent to their parents/guardians. It isn't just beneficial for students, it will also increase parent/guardian technology skills. By getting on the computer to peruse around their child's learning environment they will enhance their ability to research. This will keep lines of communication open between the school and parents. Furthermore, parents could see communication increase with their own child. They may be introduced to a new child. Instead of having to ask, "What did you do in school today?" Parents will be able to effectively talk with their child about what happened at school today.
- The benefit for using blogs throughout the school would be an increase in research skills. When students write for a wider audience they will need to ensure their information is accurate. In order for this to happen, it will require researching useful and precise information. Thus, the writing benefits are more effective. Student problem solving skills will be enhanced by collaboratively working with peers and receiving feedback from the teacher. As students become comfortable with blogging their reading will also improve. Through research and reading other's blogs students will see reading skills soar.
- Prior to beginning a classroom blog, one would need the approval of the administration. Once the administration has approved, the parents/guardians would need to approve. Since so many parents aren't comfortable with technology, the positive attributes must be highlighted to override any negative reactions. Educators must know how to properly introduce and instruct parents/ guardians and students on how to use blogging in the classroom.
