This document discusses how members of the BNI Insomniacs chapter can improve their traffic light status from amber to green. It provides an overview of the current chapter health with percentages of members who are green, amber, red, black, and new. The chapter's goal is to get 60% of members to green and 40% to amber in the next two months. It then introduces a member named Will who was surprised to learn he was amber despite his contributions. The rest of the document explains the point system used to determine traffic light statuses and provides strategies members can implement like increasing referrals, visitors, 121s, and CEUs to achieve green status.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Report to know how to get to your goal!
Good morning Chapter, following the theme of the day, since our goal is to spread more greenery in the chapter. The presentation today will focus on Going Green the BNI way
Before we start, let’s go through a few statistics. As you can see from the pie chart, 68% of the members currently are not green and only 32% of the members are green. A majority of 45% of the members are Amber. 3% of the members are New and another 3% are Black. As you can see, a lot of us have barely tapped into the complete potential of our positions at BNI –and the best way to get the biggest bang out of our buck is to get to the greener side.
Now with this in mind, let’s look at our BIG HAIRY AUDACIOUS GOAL (BHAG) for the next two months. So the BHAG of INSOMNIACS is to get 60% of the members to green. Considering that currently there are only 32% green members, we are looking at an increase of about 50% in the next two months. Not a small feat, but definitely achievable.
The other goal is to decrease the number of Amber members from 45% to 40% and we ideally would not want any members in Red and Black in the next two months.
Let’s look at how can we achieve this BIG GOAL with a small story about WILL. So WILL is a smart, talented, entrepreuner, whose on the top of his game in his business and a giving member of BNI. Will is a winner in all areas of his business life. All was fine and dandy until the he sees his BNI score on the PALMS report every month
Will was happy with his progress, until his PALMS reports arrived. Despite providing great amount of business to the chapter, and participating weekly in discussions, high-achieving Will was in for a shock. Because everyone saw WILL turn up as an….
Amber Member.
Do you think he gave up? Let’s hope not! Will, being an optimist, decided that he would investigate and not give up. He rightly believed that “where there is a will, there is a way”.
So how do you think he investigated?
Since Insomniacs is blessed to have 70% of the RDC’s in the chapter. Will decided to take his PALMS reports to one of the regional director and asked him to explain how the point system actually works:
So the RDC went through the KPI’s with Will, saying its really simple Will. The first one is weekly attendance. Weekly attendance is highly important for all BNI members. All of us should try our best to attend all weekly meetings to keep a high score, and substitution to the minimum. Secondly, bringing visitors to the chapter, when was the last time you brought a visitor to attend the chapter meeting? Thirdly, providing qualified referrals. Fourth, continuing education by listening to podcasts/ reading articles on success net. Fifth how much business have members closed as a result of the referral passed by you. Testimonials have you recently endorsed a members service? And weekly 121’s, have you been doing this weekly?
So let’s try to understand how the traffic light system works.
The order of the lights in order of highest to the lowest point is: Green, Amber, Red and Black.
So if your points are between 70-100, you are a green member
If your points are between 50-65, you are an amber member
If you points are between 30-45, you are a red member.
And lastly, if your score is below 25, you are a black member.
The scores are an indicator of your involvement, commitments, growth and achievements.
So a green member is more involved and committed to his goals which would help him grow and have higher achievements than an amber or a red member.
A disciplined way of growing green is by doing the following every month. 1. 2 X CEU’s per week
2 x 121’s per week
2 x referrals per week
2 x visitors per month
Also, it is very important to look for this box on your Go Green Report (point to the box). It highlights areas where you need to work at. As you can see, there is a row which says “what you need this month”. This helps you to concentrate more on the key points which would help you achieve more by the end of the month.

By following the regional director’s instructions and his monthly report, Will is finally jumped to the green side. And the grass indeed was greener on the green side.
