Globalization has impacted the Nepali media in several ways. It has influenced media structures through foreign investment, competition with international outlets, and training of journalists. Technologies of transmission and reception have also been impacted by dependencies on new equipment and formats from Western companies. Media content has seen a rise in entertainment and infotainment coverage from abroad as well as dependence on foreign news agencies. Audiences now consume more international media products and constantly update their technologies. While globalization began impacting Nepal after 1816, its effects on media accelerated post-1990 through changes to organizations, personnel, technologies and content.
