Community Corrections Must Be Defined As Orders And Strict...
Community corrections can be defined as orders and strict instructions given to convicted adults and
young ones, which occur in a community setting outside jail or prison. It involves the supervision and
management of offenders by community correction officers in the community. It usually happens
when offenders are imposed to undertake community projects as an alternative to imprisonment. It can
also be a condition of release on parole from prison. Community corrections bring several benefits to
the offender such as learning how to become accountable and how to plan effectively (National
Institute of Justice, 2014).
What It Involves Community corrections involve instilling of corrective behaviors and acceptable
practices to offenders by teaching them how to do new things and in the same time correcting their
mistakes, which made them charged in court. Offenders are required to participate in community
work, appropriate educational programs and assessment and treatment programs. They are managed
and supervised in the community by individuals known as the community correction officers.
Offenders who complete their orders successfully upon identifiable behavior change are allowed to
live freely without any more supervision from the correction officers, and they can interact and
participate actively in community and society building projects.

Similarities Between Hamlet And The Lion King
The critically acclaimed Disney movie, The Lion King and world renowned play, Hamlet bear many
resemblances. This may be attributed to that the filmmakers of The Lion King used major plot points
of Hamlet when developing their storyboard. As the two works act supplementary to each other main
characters are seen with their own counterparts. One of the first major plot alignments of the two
stories is both main protagonists, Hamlet and Simba s fathers, King Hamlet and King Mufasa die at
the hands of their very own brothers, Claudius and Scar. This devastates these characters, which made
room for the introduction of the roles of Timon and Pumbaa later that run concurrent with the prince s
two highly respected acquaintances Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

Integrating Deck Departments
The Integration Of Deck And Engineering Departments

Integration of Deck Department with the Engineering department
Disagreements between Departments and duty sections at small boat stations have become more
commonplace, and seem to be on the rise. The integration of the Deck and Engineering departments
would spread out the work load, increase productivity and raise the standards of upkeep on the unit s
small boats. Spreading out the work load among a larger department would allow the unit to
accomplish the same amount of work, in less time. Allowing personnel to spend more time training
and learning each other s job. Not only does integration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That attitude alone divides the unit, it should be we break it, we fix it . If there is one thing at a small
boat station that I would like to fix it would be the unity. The time I spent underway on cutters was
one of the most rewarding times of my Coast Guard career. We were divided among our departments,
but united in our mission and when the ship sailed we were all the same, we all wanted to complete
the mission safely and return home to our family s. If I could bring that kind of attitude into a station
environment we would all succeed at our jobs and the Coast Guards Mission. Together, as a

Communication and Why We Need Effective Communication
Introduction
With every interaction, whether active or passive, we find ourselves communicating with other people.
Even our silence connotes some intention, which others may interpret at their discretion. Whether by
artifact or by attendance, every human being constantly participates in the process of communication
Defining Communication
Communication means exchange of ideas, views, opinion, understanding, feelings, emotions, facts or
information between two or more persons by any sources or medium.
Communication is not only the essence of being human, but also a vital property of life... John A.

The importance of communication is best understood when there is a lack of it. Listening,
understanding and interpreting are as much integral to communication as words verbal, written or
gestured. How we communicate or express ourselves goes a great way towards determining how our
expressions are interpreted.
To quote Karl Popper, It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood .
Faulty or incomplete communication can completely mar the purpose of communicating and may
result in damaging consequences. This is where understanding the importance of communication and
communicating the right way comes into picture. Not everyone is equally endowed with the ability to
effectively express himself and this is where the importance of communication skills can be truly
fathomed. The importance of communication is equal in every walk of like, be it in personal,
professional or social life.
Components of Communication
Communication is effective when a concise and clear message is delivered well, received successfully,
and understood fully. The process of communication has the following distinct components: the sender
the message the medium the receiver feedback. The Communication Process

Compare And Contrast Phoenix Jackson And Montresor
Dying to Live:
Comparison of Phoenix Jackson and Montresor Everyone has motives good or bad. Some people are
inspired by love while others are motivated by pure hate. Individuals that are controlled by love tend
to do moral things; they generally brighten people s days and help others. On the contrary, people who
are moved by hate often do not make the best decisions. They make others feel down about
themselves. Personalities are contagious and one person acting by love will make someone else do the
same. This is also the case with hate. Being around a happy person makes one joyful; being
surrounded by hate causes bitterness. Short stories have many examples of characters that are under
these circumstances. In Eudora Welty s A Worn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Montresor vowed revenge because Fortunato makes insults about Montresor s family (525; 1).
Montresor is not just going to make him feel bad; he wants to kill. The hatred inside of Montresor is
the driving force for his need to murder Fortunato. Montresor is also an extremely manipulative
character. He plays his house attendants by telling them strictly not to leave the house. He states,
These orders were sufficient, I well knew, to insure their immediate disappearance, one and all, as
soon as my back was turned (526; 24). This fixes the problems that would have arisen with any
witnesses. He also plays Fortunato in a few different ways. The strategy he uses the most is inspecting
Fortunato s wellbeing. Montresor pleads, Come, we will go back; your health is precious. You are
rich, respected, admired, beloved; you are happy, as once I was. You are a man to be missed. For me it
is no matter. We will go back; you will be ill, and I cannot be responsible (526; 35). Once Fortunato
hears Montresor say all of this about him, he quickly refuses to turn around. Montresor repeats this
tactic a couple more

Gross Domestic Population, Gdp, And Economic Growth
Gross Domestic Population, GDP, is an estimate the value of all final goods and services that are
produced and traded for money within a given period of time. It is measured by adding together a
nation s consumption, government expenditures, exports and capital formation. ( Marcuss and Kane,
2007). GDP estimates were used to show that the economy could provide sufficient supplies while
maintaining production of consumer goods and services. Today, the GDP, measures economic growth

The economy of the state depends on commerce with trade partners from the Netherlands, the United
States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago. The economic growth of the state slowed due to the decline of
the mining, construction and utility business. The expenditures, poor tax collection, a bloated civil
service and reduced foreign aid contributed to the deficit which is 11% of the GDP. The government
of Suriname started to interact in its economy to assist in stabilizing its money structure, by
introducing price controls to contain inflation. The government outlawed all prices increases on all of
it services and goods. Anyone or business that did not comply by the regulations or laws were faced
with harsh sanctions, confiscating or closing their businesses. The regulations stayed in place and kept
the economy on the rise until after the elections. Inflation started to rise as though the government had
did anything before. The government came back with another plan to regulate trade and ration
imported goods, but the business of smuggling thrived. These actions brought on an exchange rate
system, but the government did not fully understand the impact of the rate system. Inflation spiraled
out of control by 1994. The government came with a new plan to start printing its own money. The
government unified its exchange rates and reformed its tax and customs system. They also eliminated
the collection lag in income and consumption tax. An

culture that gave us that amazing and wonderful thing, Yoga.
You know some people might see it as a sport, some other consider yoga as a since, some might see it
as an art, but the truth is yoga is all of that, yoga is a way of life. It s amazing how Yoga is all about
uniting the individual consciousness with the universal one. It means that yoga is all about forming a
bond between your body and your spirit, by some certain moves that has some psychological and
physical impacts on you. That is why we considered yoga as a sport, since, art and even a philosophy.
The beauty of yoga lies in its simplicity, everyone can do yoga. By everyone we mean you never need
to be super flexible that you can touch your toe with your head flipped backward to do yoga. Trust me;
you just need your mat and a yoga instructor. One other amazing thing about yoga is that it is not a

onto their path of self discovery. However, while traveling this path, one rarely arises unscathed. They
are left with scars, a documentation of their struggles, mistakes, and their pain. In literature, authors
use these scars to trace along the nerve ending and uncover what is, the history that has not only built,
but also forged meaning into their identity. Nevertheless, there is no one path to self discovery, but as
each author invents a journey; they are also providing readers with direction in the paths they
themselves must travel. Thus, this paper will examine the different cultural interpretations of ways the

Through Sabina, one of the major characters in the work, Kundera is able to examine the attraction to

narrator uses Sabina to combat the Kitsch, which ...excludes everything from its purview which is

Reflection About Anthropology
When I first enrolled in this class, I had absolutely no idea or clue as to what Anthropology was. I had
this sense that I had at least heard of the word before, but later realized that it was only the clothing
store I was aware of. I never knew that Indiana Jones was supposed to be considered an
Anthropologist, all I ever associated him with was stealing ancient artifacts. I also was uninformed of
the fact that Bones was a show about Forensic Anthropology. If anything, the media does not portray a
clear idea as to what Anthropology really is and what it s purpose is for humankind. I investigated and
interviewed five people to see if they had the same understanding of it as I had in the beginning which
was nothing at all. I interviewed people mostly under the age of thirty, with the exception of one
seventy eight years old. Only two of them are currently college students, while the others have no
higher education than high school. The ones with some college education were the only ones who
actually knew even the slightest about it at all. All of them had no response to what a stereotypical
Anthropologist looks like because none of them know how to decipher one through the media. It is
undoubtedly evident that having some extra education and exploring different fields can open the door
to higher knowledge.
When I asked what is Anthropology or what do you think it is, I got a variety of answers. One
response I got was from my grandmother, Delores Kimm, who is seventy eight

every opinion and voice heard as well as having every person represented have been given greater
attention in order to achieve progression for all; however, these values have yet to become ubiquitous,

Who Is The Protagonist In Coach Carter
Coach Carter is a sports drama film based on a true story about a former record holding Richmond
High School basketball player, Ken Carter, who returns to his high school to coach the current juvenile
players. At the first practice of the season, Coach Carter immediately acknowledges that the players
are rude and disrespectful toward their superiors and he decides to require each player to sign a written

renal failure pre renal is the most common. It may result in hypoperfusion and ischemia. Pre renal is
caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure or renal interruption of blood flow from the kidneys from
sudden severe injury or illness. Intrarenal is caused by direct damage to the kidneys either by
inflammation, toxins, drugs, infection or reduced blood supply. Postrenal is a sudden obstruction of

Vertigo Mise En Scene Analysis
Symptoms of Vertigo: You Won t Feel Like Yourself Vertigo is an extremely complex movie in many
ways. It has an abundant amount of great elements to it that add a great deal of depth to the picture
such as its use of mise en scene, cinematography, and editing techniques. By combining all of these
elements together, they help to bring the films form and narrative together to show a reoccurring
theme of life versus death. The use of mise en scene elements contribute a great deal to the films
overall theme. In the particular scene for this analysis, an element that stands out a number of times is
lighting. There is an immense difference between the amount of light when Madeline and John are in

In the shot where John and Madeline are behind the tree trying to discuss where she was born or who
she is (around two minutes fifty seconds), the camera zooms in on the two of them. As John keeps
pushing her to talk, she gets even more confused and frustrated. To emphasize this, the directors made
the camera zoom in so you can see every emotion on her face up close and personal. This connects
this scene to the ideology that you are always connected to your past, whether you know it or not.
Inside, she knows that she is Carlotta, but she can t establish the difference between herself and the
side of her that is Carlotta. In addition to zooming, the scene also includes deep focus. By using deep
focus throughout the entire scene, you get a better scene of space. By establishing this large space
within the shots, it creates a contrast within the film. Although there is so much space in the scenes,
Madeline still feels enclosed by her own mind. You can tell that once she gets out of the trees, she lets
go slightly. Without the use of cinematography, we would be looking at a whole different

I came for the nest Sabbath day and that day I was baptized. That hole was filled, my heart was full,
and it knew that Heavenly Mother had saved my soul.Among the many prophecies in the Bible, one of
the most important is that concerning Heavenly Mother who gives life. Jesus came to this Earth about
two thousand years ago and he taught his disciples the way through which they could receive
salvation, that is, the Passover (Jn 6:53.) Even at that time hecould have given eternal life and taken
them to Heaven, but instead he told them to wait until the Last Days (Jn 6:54.) This is because that is
the time Heavenly Mother appears. In Matthew 22:1 10 Jesus told a parable, in which he compared the
Kingdom of Heaven to a wedding banquet. Being invited to thewedding banquet is the same as being
invited to the Kingdom of Heaven. To have a wedding there must be a groom, a bride, and guests. In
the parable there is a groom, and guests, but no bride even thoughthe bride is the most important piece
of a wedding. This is because she was not ready at Jesus s firstcoming, but at his second coming. That
s why Revelations 19:7 NIV says Let us rejoice and be glad and give him Glory! For the wedding of
the Lamb(Christ) has come, and his bride has made herself ready! The bride is ready in the Last Days.

Perhaps you think of New Zealand and you think about the culture of the Maori s. Or... maybe you
think about somebody extremely violent, dangerous, lazy, big, dumb. Maybe you think about them
doing drugs, smoking and drinking. These negative words that I have just said have been made into
Maori stereotypes over the years. The jokes I started this presentation with show a few of these Maori
stereotypes. I will be exploring these stereotypes and the representations of the Maori s through
different texts.
Many years ago, the Maori s were seen as brave warriors. Through films, advertisements, cartoons,
jokes, books and even stamps, the Maori s have been made to be viewed in a negative light. The texts
that I will be exploring include the film Once Were Warriors , the Legend Drunk Driving ad and also a
cartoon.
In society and the media, the Maori s are rarely given good impressions. Also, what is shown
regarding the Maori s is actually quite limited. However, when we do see them, we see them shown in
a negative way, and, therefore, we feel obliged to believe that the negative stereotypes portrayed are
all that the Maori s are.
My first text that I will be showing you, is a great representation of this. Once Were Warriors is a film
that was made in New Zealand in 1994. It is about the Maori life and it shows this by following the
troubled life of the Heke family. The message of the film is to show viewers how the definition of a

Direct Analysis Of Construction Delays
The parameters of measurement of success of any project time, cost, safety, quality and customer
satisfaction can be severely affected by construction delays (Shujaa Safdar Gardezi, 2013). This study
investigates various factors affecting the timeline of the schedule by various participants in the project,
followed by mathematical analysis to propose that the major reasons for delays are the domestic issues
of the country.
2.1 Current techniques for the analysis of delays Following are three different modes of application of
delay analysis techniques based on their simulations with fundamental schedules:
1. Direct Analysis
Direct analysis involves examining the available schedule information without doing any simulations
and modifications. Therefore, it is relatively simple, easy, less time consuming and a lot less expensive
to perform.
2. Additive Analysis
In this methodology, the delays are added to the schedule as individual activities to simulate the actual
scenario of occurrence and reflect the effects of the delays on the as planned schedule. The additions
of the delays can be performed individually knowns as single stage analysis as well as in multiple
schedules also known as multi stage analysis (Trauner, 1990). Some of the examples of additive
analysis are time impact analysis, impacted as planned, window analysis and as planned but for.
3. Subtractive Analysis
In this analysis, modifications and simulations are carried out on the as built schedules in a backward

Motion Picture Production Code
Ever since its first introduction in 1893, motion pictures have become a remarkably successful
medium that portray drama and arouse the audiences emotions. It allowed for the audience to escape
from the hassles of everyday life and immerse themselves into the world of the story s narrative. From
the 1920s to the 1960s, motion pictures began to dramatically develop, building on the practices
established from the previous years of film. Prior to this period, motion pictures were only silent films.
In 1927 and the early 1950s, the addition of sound and color began to revolutionize film aesthetics and
the industry as a whole. There was also the introduction of new genres such as gangster films,
westerns, and musical. Due the large volume of films ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These guidelines came to be known as the Motion Picture Production Code. This Production Code
outlined for film studios and their motion pictures what was appropriate or inappropriate for a public
audience. The guidelines for this code were no film should lower the moral standards of its audience,
appropriate etiquette should be presented, and no ridicule of the law as well as no presentation of
violating it2. Under this code, content showing nudity, profanity, drug use, criminal acts, etc. were
banned3. By self imposing this code it addressed issues such as children being exposed to indecent
material or films influencing children to become violent or commit crimes. Although the Production
Code was strictly enforced at first, after a series of cases in 1952 the Supreme Court recognized
motion pictures as a form of expression entitled to constitutional guarantees of freedom of speech
(Bates, 1970, p. 620). Meaning that any direct intervention, whether through prior restraints or
censorship, would be unconstitutional. Consequently, film producers and exhibitors began relaxing on

T. F. Thistleton Dyer s The Ghost World
The Banshee, originally known as the Irish fairy creature, originated in the Celtic Isles of Ireland,
Scotland, and Great Britain. This legend has been passed down through generations due to its
persistent haunting nature. The angry female spirit flies several feet above the ground at night
terrifying people with her ghostly screams. A Banshees high pitched shrieking foresees the death of
someone shortly to come.
The ghostly woman has no physical body, but she may appear wearing a long funeral robe and
unkempt hair. Though this is the most common, it is only one of the several different forms in which
the banshee may appear. The old hag is also said to be seen as a washerwoman washing the blood off
someone s clothes who is about to die. She may also appear as a unearthly, beautiful young woman.
No matter her age she almost always is characterized as wearing a long flowing robe with long hair of
the same color.
This fairy woman has been known in Gaelic myths and legends for centuries, but as early as 1898 she
made her first appearance in literature. In T. F. Thistleton Dyer s The Ghost World he explains how
only ancient families are honored with the visit of the Banshee. Although through not much honor but

How Does The United States Violate Human Rights
Amnesty International is the biggest non governmental organization engaged in the protection of

society, consumerism. The idea of minimalism is to narrow down the material items one bring into

documentary explores the human tendency to become dissatisfied with everything in our lives and

is filled with multiple people s different stories of their journey to minimalism and many different

Peter Pan Neverland Analysis
Sassy fairies, infinite childhood, and ticking crocodiles. For many, Peter Pan s Neverland may be
associated with innocuous connotations, an innocent and whimsical world wherein the harsh and
offensive realities of society are unable to penetrate. However, upon closer examination of J.M. Barrie
s Peter and Wendy (1911), the notion of innocent childhood fantasy is revealed as a façade, a
confirmation that even Neverland and all of its whimsy is not safe from the ideologies which influence
racial oppression and demeaning stereotypes. In analyzing the existence of the racial hierarchy within
this fantasy world, it is necessary to perform a close reading of passages concerning the Piccaninny
Indian tribe which expose the degrading representations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In considering the overarching interpretation regarding depictions of race throughout the novella, this
specific excerpt is salient in both its characterization of the tribe and the racial commentary that can be
derived as a result. Despite the previous passage s depiction of the Piccaninny through diction that
signifies subordination, they are comparatively described here in a violent and masculine manner that
suggests a form of power. In this then, one must revisit the previously posed inquiry: is the narrator
reproducing the degrading racial hierarchy that labels the other as inferior, or are they persuading the
reader to question it? Phraseology such as diabolical cunning to describe their plans not only
contradicts the notion that they are a rudimentary people, it also encourages a questioning of the
connotations of savagery as it is used throughout the work (174). However, this is not to argue that the
passage is any less problematic in its presentation. While certain aspects of the word choice may
indicate power, the redskins are still described in a manner that strips them of their humanity. The use
of phlegmatic as an adjective to portray the manner in which they should deal pale death suggests that
they are inhumane and emotionless creatures (174). Furthermore, the narrator states that they dream of

Hypothalamus And Motivation
There is an understanding that motivation is a driving force on behavior, but what remains unknown is
where the purpose and execution of a motivated behavior converge within the brain. The
hypothalamus plays an essential role in the integration of sensory information to direct motivated
behaviors that maintain homeostasis in the body. A behavior that largely results from motivation is
feeding, which has a reinforcing and rewarding property that stimulates the want for food. Feeding
behavior illustrates regulation at the level of the hypothalamus a want supported by the dopamine
reward system, and a relationship between food and mood provided by serotonin. Regulation of
feeding behavior is governed by two metabolic processes known as anabolism

financial stability of the Republic of Texas treasury and foreign diplomacy. After the Revolution, the
government was $1.25 million in debt and had no funds to aid those who lost everything during the
fight for Texas independence. Texas main asset was land, however, this brought minimal funding relief
since land prices were so low for new settlers. Texas was also in political limbo after the Revolution
since it had not received official recognition as a sovereign nation. This made the people of Texas rush
to the idea of annexation to the United States.

the employees and the employer. The company can modify the reward system depending on the need
of the firm. For instance, quality of food, customer service and presentation skills are more important
in food industry. So the company gives reward to staff who takes cooking courses, customer services
courses.
For instance, rewarding all the employees can create united structure in the organization which
promotes more team work and discourage competition within the firm.
On the other hand, rewarding employees depending upon the performance can differentiate the higher
performing staff and the lower performing staff which means individual efforts is rewarded. In such
cases the individual focus on individual performance rather than team performance.
So depending upon the organization structure, the reward system can be designed carefully in a way
that it meets the firm s target. The food industry or company should never underestimate the affect a
good reward system has on the growth of an organization.

Relation Between Architecture And The Environment.this...
An architect cannot build a consistent and stable structure without knowing the relationship between
architecture and the environment. This topic should be discussed on various angles. One of them is the
aesthetical point of view, and the other is the human intervention in nature. The former is essentially
an artistic debate and a generic timeless topic since the beginning of architectural practices. The other
one is a more contemporary issue. In a broader aspect, this topic isn t only the architect s interest, but
also is an issue of engineers, scientists and even social scientist s; and yet it can even extend to global
warming concerns. For this reason, let us firstly start and find out the most current dispute entitled as
human intervention in nature.
Humans since their very first existence have been in a big struggle against the nature. However, they
shape the nature to suffice their needs and in essence adapt themselves accordingly into the conditions
given by the Mother Nature. Over time nature has resisted to this human endeavor in every possible
way it can and tried not to surrender humans. No matter how strong this resistance is; humans
somehow found a way to break it down with their inborn skills that they managed to develop in time.
This can be regarded as a seamless dance between these two enormous forces.
As the nature manifested itself as an obstacle where humans accomplished to push it away, this
struggle shaped the way in which humans developed a way of

1974 marked the introduction to legislation that captured child maltreatment and enabled funding to
support and develop child abuse reporting systems and procedures for managing maltreatment reports.
From the introduction of legislation through time new policies were developed to adhere to the
provisions of adoption, family preservation, and family support. Similar to other developed countries
in child welfare, visions for community caring systems are developed for families and maintaining
children in their own community as initial responses. Family centered practice, culture connection,
and community continuity are viewed as important variables to serve the best interest of a child.
In the US, African American and American Indian children are overrepresented in the child welfare
system. There is a lack of cultural competence which can lead to inaccurate assessments (Velazquez,
2011). If biological families need to stay together and child welfare should make this a priority than
perhaps the US isn t the best at modeling this behavior. According to Gilbert(2011) in the 1990 s
policy seemed less concerned with birth families and more about children s opportunities to live in
new families created through adoption (p.24). This appears to work against the parents working to
regain custody because the system demonstrates an interest in looking to place children opposed to
working with families towards reunification.

  • 2. Community Corrections Must Be Defined As Orders And Strict... Community corrections can be defined as orders and strict instructions given to convicted adults and young ones, which occur in a community setting outside jail or prison. It involves the supervision and management of offenders by community correction officers in the community. It usually happens when offenders are imposed to undertake community projects as an alternative to imprisonment. It can also be a condition of release on parole from prison. Community corrections bring several benefits to the offender such as learning how to become accountable and how to plan effectively (National Institute of Justice, 2014). What It Involves Community corrections involve instilling of corrective behaviors and acceptable practices to offenders by teaching them how to do new things and in the same time correcting their mistakes, which made them charged in court. Offenders are required to participate in community work, appropriate educational programs and assessment and treatment programs. They are managed and supervised in the community by individuals known as the community correction officers. Offenders who complete their orders successfully upon identifiable behavior change are allowed to live freely without any more supervision from the correction officers, and they can interact and participate actively in community and society building projects. This may be attributed to that the filmmakers of The Lion King used major plot points of Hamlet when developing their storyboard. One of the first major plot alignments of the two stories is both main protagonists, Hamlet and Simba s fathers, King Hamlet and King Mufasa die at the hands of their very own brothers, Claudius and Scar. This devastates these characters, which made room for the introduction of the roles of Timon and Pumbaa later that run concurrent with the prince s two highly respected acquaintances Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. ... The integration of the Deck and Engineering departments would spread out the work load, increase productivity and raise the standards of upkeep on the unit s small boats. Spreading out the work load among a larger department would allow the unit to accomplish the same amount of work, in less time. Allowing personnel to spend more time training and learning each other s job. Not only does integration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That attitude alone divides the unit, it should be we break it, we fix it . If there is one thing at a small boat station that I would like to fix it would be the unity. The time I spent underway on cutters was one of the most rewarding times of my Coast Guard career. We were divided among our departments, but united in our mission and when the ship sailed we were all the same, we all wanted to complete the mission safely and return home to our family s. If I could bring that kind of attitude into a station environment we would all succeed at our jobs and the Coast Guards Mission. Together, as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people are inspired by love while others are motivated by pure hate. Individuals that are controlled by love tend to do moral things; they generally brighten people s days and help others. On the contrary, people who are moved by hate often do not make the best decisions. They make others feel down about themselves. Personalities are contagious and one person acting by love will make someone else do the same. This is also the case with hate. Montresor is also an extremely manipulative character. He plays his house attendants by telling them strictly not to leave the house. He states, These orders were sufficient, I well knew, to insure their immediate disappearance, one and all, as soon as my back was turned (526; 24). This fixes the problems that would have arisen with any witnesses. He also plays Fortunato in a few different ways. The strategy he uses the most is inspecting Fortunato s wellbeing. Montresor pleads, Come, we will go back; your health is precious. You are rich, respected, admired, beloved; you are happy, as once I was. You are a man to be missed. For me it is no matter. • 26. T. F. Thistleton Dyer s The Ghost World The Banshee, originally known as the Irish fairy creature, originated in the Celtic Isles of Ireland, Scotland, and Great Britain. This legend has been passed down through generations due to its persistent haunting nature. The angry female spirit flies several feet above the ground at night terrifying people with her ghostly screams. A Banshees high pitched shrieking foresees the death of someone shortly to come. The ghostly woman has no physical body, but she may appear wearing a long funeral robe and unkempt hair. Though this is the most common, it is only one of the several different forms in which the banshee may appear. The old hag is also said to be seen as a washerwoman washing the blood off someone s clothes who is about to die. She may also appear as a unearthly, beautiful young woman. No matter her age she almost always is characterized as wearing a long flowing robe with long hair of the same color. This fairy woman has been known in Gaelic myths and legends for centuries, but as early as 1898 she made her first appearance in literature. In T. F. Barrie s Peter and Wendy (1911), the notion of innocent childhood fantasy is revealed as a façade, a confirmation that even Neverland and all of its whimsy is not safe from the ideologies which influence racial oppression and demeaning stereotypes. In considering the overarching interpretation regarding depictions of race throughout the novella, this specific excerpt is salient in both its characterization of the tribe and the racial commentary that can be derived as a result. Despite the previous passage s depiction of the Piccaninny through diction that signifies subordination, they are comparatively described here in a violent and masculine manner that suggests a form of power. In this then, one must revisit the previously posed inquiry: is the narrator reproducing the degrading racial hierarchy that labels the other as inferior, or are they persuading the reader to question it? Phraseology such as diabolical cunning to describe their plans not only contradicts the notion that they are a rudimentary people, it also encourages a questioning of the connotations of savagery as it is used throughout the work (174). However, this is not to argue that the passage is any less problematic in its presentation. While certain aspects of the word choice may indicate power, the redskins are still described in a manner that strips them of their humanity. The use of phlegmatic as an adjective to portray the manner in which they should deal pale death suggests that they are inhumane and emotionless creatures (174). Similar to other developed countries in child welfare, visions for community caring systems are developed for families and maintaining children in their own community as initial responses. Family centered practice, culture connection, and community continuity are viewed as important variables to serve the best interest of a child. In the US, African American and American Indian children are overrepresented in the child welfare system. There is a lack of cultural competence which can lead to inaccurate assessments (Velazquez, 2011). If biological families need to stay together and child welfare should make this a priority than perhaps the US isn t the best at modeling this behavior.
