One of the many renegade PhDs who joined the fledgling field of data science of the 2010's, Rebecca will share lessons learned the hard way, often from watching data science projects go sideways and learning to fix broken things. • The first two contests helped me gain about 75
followers each. My latest giveaway helped me
gain about 150 followers.
• I've found most people stick around and continue
to follow me after the contest ends. And the
winners have turned into loyal followers who
continue to help me share my message.
8. Collaborate with Other Account
• An account called SavingHalfOurIncome did a
giveaway of one of my books. The account has over
32,000 followers. So I immediately reached out and
offered to send signed copies of all of my books.
• The owner of the account decided to give away those
copies too. She encouraged her followers to follow my
account.
• With a single post on her account, I gained 150
followers in just a few hours. And I realized that giving
influencers signed copies of my book could open the
door to more giveaway opportunities.
9. Make Your Content Valueable to Others
• I attracted influencers who shared my content.
• Danielle Natoni, a fitness and lifestyle expert with
over 138,000 followers, shared a picture of my
newest book in her Instagram story. Within
minutes, some of her audience members began
following me.
• I reached out to her and she invited me to do a
Q&A with her on Instagram Live. And more
members of her audience began following me.
10. Start a Video Post
• I started sharing video clips of my keynote
speeches. Since videos needed to be less than
one minute in length, I had plenty of video
footage from my TEDx talk and other
speeches that could be cut up into Instagram-
worthy videos.
• I also started doing "Ask Amy" video clips
that allowed me to answer the most common
questions I receive from followers.
11. Conclusion
• The only way to find out what will work well
for your account is to experiment
• All you have to do is pay attention to the posts
that attract the most attention. Give them
more of what they want to see
• If a post or video doesn't result in much
engagement, don't despair. Simply take note
of it and move on to the strategies that are
working better
