The document discusses co-production in health and social care in Scotland. It provides:
1) Context on the financial challenges facing the system and calls for more collaborative approaches, as outlined in the Christie Commission report.
2) Details on relevant legislation, including the Social Care (Self Directed Support) Act, which aims to give citizens more control, and the Public Bodies (Joint Working) Act, which integrates health and social care.
3) Examples of co-production in action, such as a program supporting hospital discharges that has avoided admissions and saved over £700,000. It emphasizes culture change and building citizen capacity.
Homelessness Policy in England: the importance of placeAdam Stephenson
Homelessness policy and practice has been transformed by new managerialism and decentralisation. Decentralisation initially reversed the centralisation of new managerilism. Decentralisation is now leading to evolution of place based approaches to homelessness. Place-based approaches have the potential to provide more person centred, systematic and outcome based approaches to reducing homelessness. Find out more about the evolution of place based approaches in London.
Explore how self management empowers people of all ages to live well with a long term condition. Improving how our systems, services and how communities connect can make a real difference to living well at all stages of life.

A new model of care for general practice, pop up uni, 10am, 2 september 2015NHS England
Expo is the most significant annual health and social care event in the calendar, uniting more NHS and care leaders, commissioners, clinicians, voluntary sector partners, innovators and media than any other health and care event.
Expo 15 returned to Manchester and was hosted once again by NHS England. Around 5000 people a day from health and care, the voluntary sector, local government, and industry joined together at Manchester Central Convention Centre for two packed days of speakers, workshops, exhibitions and professional development.
This year, Expo was more relevant and engaging than ever before, happening within the first 100 days of the new Government, and almost 12 months after the publication of the NHS Five Year Forward View. It was also a great opportunity to check on and learn from the progress of Greater Manchester as the area prepares to take over a £6 billion devolved health and social care budget, pledging to integrate hospital, community, primary and social care and vastly improve health and well-being.

Feeding plate for a newborn with Cleft Palate.pptxSatvikaPrasad
A feeding plate is a prosthetic device used for newborns with a cleft palate to assist in feeding and improve nutrition intake. From a prosthodontic perspective, this plate acts as a barrier between the oral and nasal cavities, facilitating effective sucking and swallowing by providing a more normal anatomical structure. It helps to prevent milk from entering the nasal passage, thereby reducing the risk of aspiration and enhancing the infant's ability to feed efficiently. The feeding plate also aids in the development of the oral muscles and can contribute to better growth and weight gain. Its custom fabrication and proper fitting by a prosthodontist are crucial for ensuring comfort and functionality, as well as for minimizing potential complications. Early intervention with a feeding plate can significantly improve the quality of life for both the infant and the parents.

4. Co-production
• “… the delivery of public services in which citizens are
involved in the creation of public policies and services.
This contrasts with a transactional based method of
service delivery in which citizens consume public services
which are conceived of and provided by governments
and institutions... In contrast with traditional citizen
involvement, citizens are not only consulted, but are
part of the conception, design, steering, and
management of services.

professionalism based on working on a equal basis with users and citizens,
rather than on an assumption of the superiority of expert knowledge
• Build individual and community capacity: to enable informed citizens to
participate and share decision-making and responsibility in their own and other
health and wellbeing.
• Hold organisations to account: require a radical improvement and
systematisation of how we measure both the quality and the outcomes
of involvement.

community capacity, health literacy, income maximisation, fuel poverty
