Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form in the Western world

as just the singles charts, it is not the sum of all chart music. op music is eclectic, and often
borrows elements from other styles such as Pop music is eclectic, and often borrows elements
from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, Latin, and country; nonetheless, there are core
elements that define pop music.

3. KEY COMPOMENTS: COLOUR
• The style of outfits people in pop magazines wear tend to be vibrant and fit the artists style. The
colours are really important for catching the viewers eyes but also the colour needs to
represent the artists style. When thinking about the colours I must include different types that all
compliment each other and look good on the page.
The main colours on this image are pinks and floral coulors to match what
the artist is wearing. These colours suggest that it is typically more of a
magazine style for girls and this may appear more enticing for them.
Yet on the other hand, in this image the main colours are blues and reds.
This suggests that this magazine style is more featured for males due to
the fact the magazine features two successful males and the colour
choices are more masculine.
The colour variations are very important within a magazine and need to stand out to
the target audience.
4. KEY COMPONENTS: COSTUME
What the artists wear is very important. It can be anything to the craziest colourful item of
clothing to a simple yet fashionable. It is normally something that the viewers wouldn't wear.
The term ‘fashion statement’ is known in magazines such as vogue but it is also important in
music magazines. The artists need to stand out so that the target audience will be intrigued in
the artist and will want to read and discover more about them. This is extremely effective and
makes profit.
5. KEY COMPONENTS: LIGHTING
• When taking photos of the artists, good lighting is essential. Light is more than just how bright
or dark it is; it's also the key to the look, mood and atmosphere for the images. The direction of
the light will affect how the shape and texture of the subject and how it appears, while the
colour and how soft or harsh the light is can totally change a shot's appearance.
6. KEY COMPONENTS: PROPS
• Props are used to add more to the images and to make them more interesting. Props could be
anything to something sit on or an accessory that stands out. This automatically makes the
image seem more full and fills any unnecessary space.
7. KEY COMPONENTS: LOCATION
• Location can have a really cool effect on the background if used appropriately. Due to the
technology we have, normally people don’t need to be in that exact location but use a green
screen effect. If done correctly this can have a really cool outcome. Normally places like city's,
a massive landscape, buildings are used.
8. KEY COMPONENTS: FONTS
• Fonts are used and varied so it the cover or any of the other pages wouldn't’t seem
boring. When there are different fonts it show different styles, different types of writing
and makes the presentation of the page look better. Drop cap effects are normally used
when an interview has been typed out or for the start of the editors letter. Serif fonts help the
flow of the eye across the page and tend to look more formal. Sans Serif is text without fancy
feet and seen to look next formal.
9. KEY COMPONENTS: THEMES/
REPRESENTATIONS
• Depending on the artist and the style of the magazine, the themes and representations can be
interesting. There all kind of themes themes from flowers and girly, to denim and boyband.
10. KEY COMPONENTS: ARTICLE CONTENT
• The content of an article tend to be what the type of genre the magazine is. For a vogue
magazine it will tend to be fashion. A make-up magazine will be about the different types of
brands and how much they cost. For a music magazine (pop)it will talk about the newest music
