Question 1
• Posters – the genre is used around the main area of the
student union; the students will walk up to the posters to
see if anything interests them, students and professors of
UNCC, they all want to get more information about an
activity
• People Talking – the genre is used at the entrance of the
student union, girls are having a casual conversation, they
all attend UNCC
• Buying Food – the genre is used at Wendy’s, people come
here to purchase food, people that come here are students
and professors of UNCC, they are all hungry and want food

• Posters – it gives information about the
activities that are soon occurring
• People Talking – conversation between friends
is causal
• Buying Food – the students converse with the
workers about what they want

• Posters – students and professors of UNCC use
the genre to find out info about upcoming
events

• People Talking – students at UNCC converse
about casual topics
• Buying Food – students and professors buy
food because they are hungry

• Posters – it tells students who, what, when,
where, and why about events and activities
• People Talking – the girls could be talking
about friends, food, or activities (casual)
• Buying Food – price, well-being, detailed
question about a certain type of food

• Posters – students walk up to the posters and
are informed about the events on campus
• Student Talking – students are getting to know
each other, asking about each others’ day,
casually talking
• Buying Food – the customer tells the cashier
what they want and the cashier replies with
the price of the food

• Posters – it informs and educates students and
professors about events on campus
• People Talking – conversations are
entertainment for people
• Buying Food – it is a place for students to go to
buy food and get rid of their hunger (easy
access)

know each other, friendly because students
want to be polite
• Buying Food – formal and polite because the
customer doesn't’t know the cashier too well

want, paying for the food, getting rid of your

event or activity but it doesn't’t allow them to
ask questions in return

• People Talking – it allows people to get to
know one another and have casual

• Buying Food – it allows students to get food,
pay for it, and eat it but it doesn't’t allow them
to choose ANY food (only food from Wendy’s)

• Posters – students and professors are most served
because they attend UNCC and the posters inform
people about events on campus, those least
served are parents of students (maybe)

because conversations happen everywhere

• Buying Food – those who’s needs are served are
hungry students, those who’s needs are served
are students just wanting to hang out, but not eat

• Posters – No because the user cannot ask
questions so he/she is limited to the info given
on the poster

• People Talking – yes because since they most
likely know each other, they are being
themselves and talking about anything
• Buying Food – no people the buyer most likely
doesn't’t know the cashier so the conversation
is short

• Posters – they inform students about who,
what, when, where, and why an event or
activity is

• People Talking – friends are having casual
conversations
• Buying Food – the customer tells the cashier
what they want and the cashier tells them the
price, they might ask each other how they are
today or say “have a good day” to one another
Rhetorical (choices)
• Posters – students or professors can choose
what poster to read, what part of the poster
to read, and what event to attend

• People Talking – students can choose to talk
about anything (school, friends, food, sports)
• Buying Food – students can choose to eat
what they desire and they can decide whether
they want to be nice to the cashier and ask
about their day or not

  • 1. Scene – The Student Union Vaibhavi Patel Veronica Vargas-Guadalupe

Question 1 • Posters – the genre is used around the main area of the student union; the students will walk up to the posters to see if anything interests them, students and professors of UNCC, they all want to get more information about an activity • People Talking – the genre is used at the entrance of the student union, girls are having a casual conversation, they all attend UNCC • Buying Food – the genre is used at Wendy’s, people come here to purchase food, people that come here are students and professors of UNCC, they are all hungry and want food
  • 3. Question 2 • Posters – it gives information about the activities that are soon occurring • People Talking – conversation between friends is causal • Buying Food – the students converse with the workers about what they want
  • 4. Question 3 • Posters – students and professors of UNCC use the genre to find out info about upcoming events • People Talking – students at UNCC converse about casual topics • Buying Food – students and professors buy food because they are hungry
  • 5. Question 4 • Posters – it tells students who, what, when, where, and why about events and activities • People Talking – the girls could be talking about friends, food, or activities (casual) • Buying Food – price, well-being, detailed question about a certain type of food

Question 5 • Posters – students walk up to the posters and are informed about the events on campus • Student Talking – students are getting to know each other, asking about each others’ day, casually talking • Buying Food – the customer tells the cashier what they want and the cashier replies with the price of the food

Social • Posters – they inform students about who, what, when, where, and why an event or activity is • People Talking – friends are having casual conversations • Buying Food – the customer tells the cashier what they want and the cashier tells them the price, they might ask each other how they are today or say “have a good day” to one another

Rhetorical (choices) • Posters – students or professors can choose what poster to read, what part of the poster to read, and what event to attend • People Talking – students can choose to talk about anything (school, friends, food, sports) • Buying Food – students can choose to eat what they desire and they can decide whether they want to be nice to the cashier and ask about their day or not
