An extension is an encapsulated piece of the hybris
Commerce Suite that can contain business logic, type
definitions, a web application, or a hybris
Management Console (hMC) configuration. That way,
you link up in one place all of the functionality that
covers a certain field of use, for example a webshop.
An addOn (fully named “Hybris Commerce
Accelerator AddOns“) extend the Commerce
Accelerator without touching its codebase. From a
technical perspective an addon is a regular
extensions but at build time its codebase is copied
inside target extensions to become a part of the
extension itself.

EE selects hybris to support its Digital Program
hybris software, an SAP company and the world’s
fastest-growing commerce platform provider, today
announced that the UK’s largest mobile network
operator EE has selected the hybris Commerce
Suite and its hybris Telco Accelerator to create
unparalleled commerce experience for its customers.
EE has more than 26 million customers, and offers Orange, T-
Mobile and EE plans. EE was the UK’s first operator to launch
4G, and already has 3.6 million 4G customers.
Moritz Zimmermann, CTO at hybris, added: “Digital is an
increasingly important area both for commerce and account
management in the telco space, and we’re very happy to be
helping a market giant such as EE to offer a superior digital
