This post is based on my field study that I did conduct last three months for the year 2014. You may seem not to approve some of this idea, but please correct me if I am wrong. Most of the things contain here were based on my own opinion. I am very welcome to some ideas that you may share on this subject matter. Thank you and hope it will be a help for those people in search for the same studies.

Guided Response:
Read several of your peers’ responses. Then, collaborate with at least two of your peers by suggesting ways to get families involved in STEM either at home or in the school or center. Suggest at least three ideas your peers can use to link families to STEM. These can be activities, web resources, events, etc.
Abigail’s post:
Explain Your ideal STEM classroom
My ideal STEM classroom will be based on a universal Pre K class at three to four-year-old children. They will be showing a hands-on experience by doing the creative curriculum. This innovative curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development, such as social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. Children learn by touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking.
Science STEM activity :
Supplies used: Rocks, plastic pond animals or bath toys, craft foam, and water.
We will fill a sand table or a large container with water. Gather plastic animals or bath toys that you might find in a pond. I found a few large rocks from the yard and cut Lily pads out of green craft foam, and then I would have the children arrange the items in the pond or set it up beforehand as a surprise. The lily pads made from craft foam float, so it is fun to put frogs or other animals on top of them. They will spend hours doing this, keeping children using their hands and fingers skills.
Technology STEM activity :
Supplies used: Camera, iPad, art supplies, tablets.
We will do a photo scavenger hunt. This activity is excellent to do indoors and outdoors. Outdoors has more benefits because you have more space to hide things, but if the weather does not allow the children to do it outside, they can still do it inside. For the scavenger hunt activity, I will ask the children to find school art supplies, and once they see the item, they can snap a picture from their pads, tablets, phone camera or any other camera. The child with the most articles and photos gets the technology award of the week.
Engineering STEM activity:
Supplies used: Color confetti, empty bathroom tissue roll, glue, cardboards, kid-safe scissors, and aluminum foil.
We will be doing a kaleidoscope. Take a bathroom tissue empty roll and put two pieces of round shape cardboard and aluminum foil with slits at the end of the roll. Between the two round shape cardboards put some confetti in between and seal it with glue on the edges. Once it is dry, look through the tube and turn the wheel, and you will see beautiful colors going in different directions.
Math STEM activity:
Supplies used: Timer, legos
They will work in groups, and they will have large lego pieces. They will start building, and I will set a timer. They will be counting the number of legos that they will be using. As they grab each lego, they will score. Whoever gets to 25 first is the winner. The object is to learn how to
count and to build great things.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
1. SCI-MATH
MonthFor this month of September, the Sci-Math month
was celebrated with the theme: Science for the People:
Innovation for Collective Prosperity. The celebration aims
for the students to develop their scientific and
mathematical literacy which is very important for a 21st
century learner. It also wants the students to appreciate
how science helps the society to develop more in such way
that technology will be developed or invented to make life
easier to achieve prosperity. In order to achieve the
objectives of this month’s celebration, the school prepared
a line-up of activities which the students will truly enjoy
and at the same time could enhance their cognitive process
most especially in the field of science and math.
The first activity which was done for this month was
the math and science quiz bee which both held separately.
The math quiz bee was held last September 7, 2018 and
was facilitated by the math teacher of each class. The
math quiz bee was also known as the Math Tinik. The
science quiz bee was held last September 14, 2018 and was
facilitated by the science teacher of each class. The two
quiz bee has the same format wherein three students will
be chosen per class then they will proceed to the final
round where only one could win. The quiz bee aims to test
the knowledge of the students about the fundamental
concepts about science and math which is vital once they
proceed to a higher school level. It will also show whether
the students really apply their knowledge or they just do
rote memorization.
2. The next activity for this month
will test not just the
understanding of the students
about the theme but also their
creative side. Each grade level
was given different task to
perform. For the high school
level, they did slogan making
per group. It was held last
September 17, 2018 at the
activity area during HRO
period.

Success, Change & Improvement of our Environment
and Nature by Creativity and Experiment
3. The main activity for this activity was the
human robot making using recyclable
materials and it was done last September
21, 2018. In this activity, the student will
show showcase their creativity and
resourcefulness in creating their robot
using their own design. The class adviser
was also asked to assist their class during
the activity. The grade 10 students
decided to create three robots for the
contest: one main robot and two mini
robots. They used old box, plastic bottles,
and cans for the activity.
E NAM-0 along with his friends Wall-e
and BMO was collectively known as the
Guardians of the Environment. They
work together in order to preserve and
conserve the environment and its
biodiversity that is still left. They also
help to promote 5Rs in conserving.
4. Most of the teenagers nowadays love to express their ideas and opinions using digital
platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. Some prefer sharing their opinions in much personal level
such as talking to their friends or family members. Generally, youth nowadays always want their
opinions and ideas to be expressed and be heard in any ways possible. For the closing activity for
this month, the school decided to make a freedom wall which was entitled as “My Pledge to Earth.”
In this freedom wall, the students will write a promise/s they pledge to Mother Earth compared to a
normal freedom wall which the people will write whatever they want without restriction. The
freedom wall was placed in the human robot exhibit so that the students who will visit the exhibit
can write their pledge afterwards. A specific paper was placed near the board where the students
will write their promise then afterwards can stick it on the board. Some of the students were
accompanied by their class adviser as they wrote their pledge.
