No point keeping head in the sand about major global environmental problems. Environmental problems amplify existing Global Health Problems. This is the presentation of the WONCA Environmental Working Group that was held in the World Preconference in Prague in June 2013.
Environment is a comprehensive term which relates to man-nature relationship. It relates to plant, wildlife, water, land and man-made things as pollution resulting from industry and other such technological development.
This is a history of the FAMU Green Coalition, a student-led organization promoting sustainability in the greater FAMU community. Prepared by Dr. LaRae Donnellan, adviser.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

G10 Protecting Mother Earth (Life Skills)
1. Protecting
Mother Earth
Earth as what we know today is very much different
to the planet which our grandparents or ancestors are very
accustomed. Change is inevitable but the change that our
planet is experiencing right now doesn’t lead to anything
good. Mother Earth is the one who lives life and shelter to
all the organisms on our planet. Even from the smallest
organism such as bacteria up to the more complex organism
such as humans depends on Mother Earth for survival. It is
true that Earth is the only planet in our solar system that
can provide and sustain life but due to numerous factors,
we slowly but surely sucking out the life from our planet. It
is evident today that we are succeeding. One prominent
effect of this destruction is Climate Change. Climate
change refers to any significant changes in temperature,
precipitation, or wind patterns, among other effects, that
occur over several decades or longer.
The school prepared activities for the students which
will allow them to appreciate the importance of protecting
our environment in our own little ways. Each activity
prepared aims to lessen the garbage output as well as
improve air quality to San Lorenzo Heights Subdivision.
The first activity for this campaign was a clean-up
drive. The activity was done by allowing students to go
outside the school premises with the supervision of their
class adviser. Beforehand, each student was informed to
bring a garbage bag and cleaning materials. It was done
last September 21, 2018 during their BSP and GSP time.
Per class, the students roamed around the subdivision and
picked up garbage that they could see. The activity aims to
lessen the garbage in the subdivision which is the primary
reason why flooding occurs. It also helps to lessen the
pollution in the area because garbage such as plastic
wrappers took years before decaying.
2. As they do the activity, the students are obviously having fun.
Eventhough they are under the hot sun which makes the activity less
comfortable for them, it is not a hindrance for the grade 10 students to
accomplish the task given. The students even made a competition on who
will fill their garbage bag with trash the fastest. They even pursued some
kids along the way to help them pick up trash. Without their knowledge,
they are teaching those children a simple way which they could help the
environment to bloom again. This task was not done just to clean the area
where the school was located but it also aims to help the students realize
that they could do this in their own community. The more people who do
this, the fastest our Mother Earth can heal.
3. The last task for this activity was a tree
planting. It was done last September 22, 2018 and it
took place at the space located behind the school
premises. Each class was instructed to bring two young
tree plants which they planted during the activity.
They should also bring their own gardening tools. The
activity aims to lessen air pollution by planting more
trees in the area. It is a fact that trees have many
benefits to us and also to the environment. Trees
serve a site which provides fresh air which humans
needs. Due to the drastic change caused by climate
change, our greatest weapon would be trees in order
to lessen the effects. During the activity, the grade
10 students planted their trees hand-in-hand and
hoping it will grow sturdy and become a beacon to stop
climate change.
